Chapter 557: The Hidden Elder’s Request

The Tower of Degradation, the headquarters of the Thieves’ Guild.
In the dark room, upon hearing the news, the Hidden Elder instantly crushed the communication device.
“Damn fools!”
But getting angry now was useless; it was better to find a way to capture the traitor and punish him.
He then asked the servant below, “Where is Risby now?”
“Your Highness, Master Risby has heard the news and is rushing back from the Kingdom of Gadré. He has already arrived at the teleportation point in the Kingdom of the Sea God. However, there is no teleportation channel established between our kingdom and the Kingdom of the Sea God by Dalaran, so he is on his way back to the Tower of Degradation at full speed!”
Hearing this, the Hidden Elder snapped, “What a worthless wretch!”
Then he thought of the convenience of magic teleportation and saw it as an opportunity to make some plans.
“It seems it’s time to visit Dalaran!”
With that, he transformed into a phantom shadow and vanished from the dark room in an instant.
Clinton was reviewing documents from recent times at the Adventurers’ Guild. Although as the earthly representative of the Nature Guardians, his status was noble, equivalent to that of a pope in a regular true god church, he did not interfere in the affairs of the Nature Guardians’ Council. Instead, he focused on the development of the Adventurers’ Guild. In terms of strength, the Adventurers’ Guild had only been established for a few years. Aside from him as the guild leader, the strongest member was only at the Gold rank, and even that was nominal. The guild’s own trained strong members were currently only at the Silver rank.
However, in terms of the scope of influence, the Nature Guardians’ Council paled in comparison to the Adventurers’ Guild, which had a large number of members, branches across the main continent, and even establishments in the New World.
Today, the Adventurers’ Guild was a golden brand for adventurers and mercenary groups. This was largely not only because of the strict reward and punishment systems and professional regulations set by the guild but also because it had the support of powerful true gods and demigods behind it!
Therefore, almost all major factions and individuals looking to issue tasks and hire people would turn to the Adventurers’ Guild. This was because private teams and adventurers not registered with the guild offered no safety guarantees, and even adventure agencies run by local rulers could not match the overwhelming influence of the Adventurers’ Guild in Dalaran!

Today, the Adventurers’ Guild can be considered the most representative institution in the territory of Dalaran, its influence even surpassing that of the Nature Guardians Council and the Tower of Twilight—two powerful organizations. Therefore, managing the development of this force is crucial for Dalaran as a whole. Clinton, who always puts his master’s interests first, volunteered to take on this responsibility.

Just as he had finished his current tasks, a servant suddenly came to report that a guest from the Thieves’ Guild wished to see him.

Already sensing the demi-godly aura deliberately emitted by the other party, Clinton naturally refused to turn them away and immediately ordered preparations for a reception. He went to the door himself to greet them.

“It’s Elder Yin. Please come in and have a seat!”

As a supporter of Donald, Clinton had represented the territory and the True God at various gatherings of forces across the continent, so he naturally recognized Elder Yin, the leader of the Thieves’ Guild and the former agent of the King of Shadows, who was also a supporter of the True God.

Elder Yin was eager, so he skipped any pleasantries. Upon entering the room, he got straight to the point and explained his purpose.

“Lord Clinton, I am here to discuss two matters with you. One is to discuss with you, on behalf of the Thieves’ Guild and His Majesty Lord Tord, the establishment of a magic teleportation portal in Fallen Thalindor. The other is a personal request from me to ask His Majesty Lord Donald for some assistance!”

As a supporter of the True God, his status was comparable to that of demi-gods, as well as the direct descendants of royal families and the leaders of various godly churches—enough to earn him the title of “His Majesty.” However, without the power of the True God behind him, Clinton himself had not reached the demi-god level, which was why he was addressed as “Lord.”

“The matter of the magic portal is easy to handle. My master, Lord Donald, has long intended to set up a teleportation point in Fallen Thalindor. It’s just that due to the chaos in the southwest, construction has been delayed until now. I will inform the Tower of Twilight shortly, and magi will go there in a few days to set it up!”

“What is the other matter, Elder Yin?”

After receiving a positive response to the first matter, Elder Yin felt relieved but said with a wry smile, “Actually, the second matter is also related to Lord Donald!”

“Oh? Go on then.”

Elder Yin immediately explained to Clinton how the situation had arisen.

Then he said earnestly, “Although I have my own motives for doing this, I have also paid a sufficient price. If that traitor, Penn, is not satisfied with these terms, we can discuss further. However, stealing the Essence of Laws and the act of sentencing him by the Thieves’ Guild are undoubtedly acts of betrayal against my master, Thord. Yet, the Great King of Shadows will not clash with the powerful Church of the Three Radiant Gods over a traitor with mere gold-based power. So I ask, does the Great Nature Guardian have any way to take back the power of the Essence of Laws and let that traitor face the consequences of his actions!”
After hearing Elder Yin’s words, Clinton pondered for a moment before saying, “I cannot make a decision on this. I must ask my master to rule. Please wait a moment, Elder Yin!”
Elder Yin naturally had no objections and watched expectantly as Clinton tried to establish contact with the true gods.
In the divine kingdom, Donald received Clinton’s request for contact. After learning the whole story, he found it somewhat amusing.
As Elder Yin had said, although Clinton had his own motives, they were understandable. As for that traitor named Penn, he had his heart completely filled with selfish desires, which led him to commit such acts. So Donald made his decision.
Suddenly, two beams of light descended from nowhere and landed in Clinton’s hands on his seat. Before Elder Yin could see what was in those beams, Clinton took them away and suddenly opened his eyes, saying to Elder Yin, “My master’s oracle has been conveyed. Initially, we weren’t supposed to interfere in your traitor’s matter. But the Essence of Laws was bestowed by my master, and those who receive it can decide for themselves how to handle it. However, such theft is undoubtedly an insult to my master. To prevent such things from happening again, my master orders me to go with you, Elder Yin, to hunt down that traitor. If he remains stubborn and unrepentant, then the power granted by the Essence of Laws will be taken away!”
Elder Yin was overjoyed upon hearing this.
“Thank you, Great Prince Donald!”
“There’s no time to lose. Let’s set off now! Since the location is within the territory ruled by Sendor of the Land of Dawn, even if it’s only a conquered outer region, it still falls under the domain of the Three Radiant Gods. We’d better act discreetly and avoid dealing with their powerful enemies as much as possible!”
