Chapter 547: The Sun Well
The process of extracting the empty soul from the Quetzalcoatl egg and imparting it to his child went smoothly without any complications. This was likely because the fetus in Catherine’s womb was originally a descendant of a true god, inherently possessing divine bloodline, making it highly compatible with divine essence!
Moreover, there was no conflict between Donald’s divinity and that of Quetzalcoatl. Firstly, both were true gods belonging to the lawful good faction. Secondly, Donald’s divine powers related to nature and balance were closely aligned with Quetzalcoatl’s powers over elements such as wind and fertility in the natural realm. Additionally, Quetzalcoatl’s innate abilities to predict and manipulate time were areas Donald was eager to explore. Although not as closely related to his own divine powers, they did not conflict with them either. After extracting some of the elemental seals from the egg using the Codex of Gods, Donald’s choices regarding his divine roles became even more comprehensive!
With the soul transfer resolved and no signs of rejection observed after several days of monitoring Catherine, it seemed as though the empty soul was meant for his child from the start. Donald felt relieved and prepared to address the next issue at hand.
Originally, he planned to hold a grand wedding for Catherine and the others once he ascended to the throne. But time was of the essence. With the treasures obtained from the Ruins of Oblivion, it would likely take only a year or two to prepare adequately for the elevation of his kingdom. By then, Catherine’s pregnancy would likely be evident—after all, one couldn’t hold a wedding while pregnant!
Nor could they wait until the child was born, so Donald decided to hold the wedding ahead of time—and make it grand and spectacular!
Although he disliked complications, this wedding had to reflect his status as a true god and provide his two wives with an unforgettable experience. A true god’s wedding would certainly not be like that of mortals, nor would it involve the complicated procedures of his past life. The first consideration was the venue. Remember, a true god like Donald wouldn’t invite ordinary friends and family for his wedding. The main guests would likely be beings at least of the demi-god level. Holding it in the main world wasn’t a good option!
If held in his kingdom, he still hadn’t ascended to the throne, and his kingdom remained within the main world’s boundaries. Some true gods still needed to descend to the main world in physical form or through their will to enter his kingdom, Aetelras!
So Donald turned his attention to his own demi-plane. Over time, through several stages of evolution, this demi-plane had grown to cover an area as large as the province of Celt. With nearly 50,000 followers living here—acquired over time—there was more than enough space for them. However, the resources within the demi-plane were somewhat scarce; most of them were brought in by Donald from the outside world. Although he had made arrangements there to grow some food and secure a water supply, it was still far from self-sufficient.
The residual divine light extracted from the Book of Purgatory had served as the sun in the demi-plane, bringing light to its inhabitants.
Donald had also endowed it with a trace of divine light and flame, transforming the free energy in space into light energy to simulate an energy cycle similar to that of the material world. But now that Donald had created his own divine kingdom and gained a deeper understanding of spatial rules, he found the structure of the demi-plane rather crude—far too simple to serve as a venue for hosting the true gods attending his wedding!
Although to ordinary true gods, such a demi-plane with the potential to develop into a true material plane was already an extremely rare existence, Donald was not satisfied with it. Thus, he planned to refine this demi-plane further during the time spent preparing for his wedding.
The first issue to address was the energy core of the demi-plane. Previously, he had created an energy source in the form of a sub-legendary magical container, the Eternal Water Vessel. But now, as a true god, Donald’s standards had risen, and he no longer found such a low-level artifact with limited energy conversion satisfactory. The Book of Truth, based on the high-tier artifact Eternal Well from the Elven legends and the rules it understood, had deduced a series of divine artifacts. The Eternal Water Vessel was merely the lowest-tier among them, and even the highest-tier versions it could create were only at the level of primary legendary artifacts—far from meeting his needs.
Next were evolved versions such as the Sun Well, which combined the functions of the Moon Well, and finally, the Eternal Well itself! The Eternal Well was envisioned as a high-tier artifact, something unattainable in the short term, but the Sun Well, at a mid-tier level, was something Donald could create given his current capabilities. The Sun Well could absorb and condense free energy from the outside world, accumulating it into a tangible form for its user. Unlike the Moon Well, the Sun Well had greater power, and the energy it produced resembled fuel, while the energy condensed by the Moon Well was more like a beverage.
Although both can replenish energy, one is for human consumption while the other is for machines—there must be no confusion between them. Essentially, though, they are both forms of energy supplementation. It’s like filling a car with soda while giving humans gasoline to drink. However, the energy from the Sun Well is highly suitable for replenishing energy in magical equipment and similar items, and it can even enhance their level and power through energy nourishment. Donald couldn’t help but be tempted; he invested tens of thousands of drops of divine power, along with some suitable fragments of divine artifacts and rare materials obtained from the ruins of the Forgotten Catacombs. The Sun Well created in the end was only at the level of a minor divine artifact. By combining the Truth Book and his own divinity, Donald designed the Sun Well as the core of a demi-plane in the main world, responsible for providing energy to maintain the stability, existence, and evolution of the demi-plane. Though it was a true divine artifact, it had no offensive capabilities—its function was merely that of a large battery. Yet, since it could supply energy for the growth of the demi-plane and serve as its carrier, the cost was worth it. Compared to those minor divine artifacts focused on attack and defense, the demi-plane with its infinite potential was what Donald valued more. It was currently at the level of a minor sub-divine artifact because Donald couldn’t impose higher-level laws and authorities—not that he couldn’t, but the cost would be too high, requiring at least the divinity of an ordinary mid-tier god. However, the Sun Well could evolve independently by absorbing energy. Once its laws and authorities evolved into higher, more powerful, and complete forms, it would become a true mid-tier divine artifact, and it wasn’t even impossible for it to evolve into a higher-tier divine artifact—the Eternal Well. With the power of the Sun Well, the existence and growth of this demi-plane could be sustained, maintaining its energy cycle. The longer this continued, the stronger both the demi-plane and the Eternal Well would become, eventually allowing this place to turn into a complete plane, a true world. This effort wasn’t just for Donald to prepare for the wedding’s grandeur; it was more because of new ideas he gained after his journey to the Forgotten Catacombs!
