Chapter 539: Maya Temple
Loki’s words left everyone present puzzled.
They had never heard of any Maya deities in the Main World or even across the entire multiverse!
Of course, Donald and Sphinx were exceptions. One had some knowledge of the Maya deities, while the other had heard many legends about the Maya civilization during his time on Earth. In his past life, it was during the rise of doomsday theories when he left!
Donald asked Loki, “Are you referring to those Maya deities who predicted the end of the world?”
Loki replied, “Exactly. They also predicted that great war and Ragnarök would occur! Unfortunately, most of the gods were too proud, believing themselves immortal and unkillable, so they didn’t take the Maya deities’ predictions seriously. Only a few deities made preparations, and Asgard is one of them. If Odin hadn’t moved the World Tree and the nine worlds in advance, we would have been drawn into the first wave of wars long ago, and none of this would have happened!”
Sphinx added, still shaken, “Indeed. During that great war, gods fell like rain from the sky. Though I was hiding in the divine realm, I could still sense the devastation from afar. It was terrifying, yet incredibly glorious!”
“So, it’s possible that this area is part of an external divine realm that fell into this sacred tomb site. Due to incompatible rules, such a unique scene has arisen!”
Loki nodded, agreeing with Donald’s analysis.
But Sphinx immediately raised a question, “If this place isn’t part of the sacred tomb site, then why would that monster, Jin Gu, enter it?”
Donald smiled lightly and said, “Why overthink it? Just go in and see!”
With that, he stepped forward into the red rule barrier first.
As Donald had guessed, once they entered this green area, they felt a fresh breeze.
“This is the aura of a divine realm!”
Needless to say, everyone present could clearly sense this as well.
Unlike the rotten, aged atmosphere of the sacred tomb sites created by fallen gods, it was certain that this was a divine realm rather than a tomb—whether its master had fallen or still existed was unknown!
At the same time, the suppressive power of the divine kingdom’s rules also fell upon these intruders. Of course, compared to the suppression in the outer Divine Tombs, the pressure in this divine kingdom or part of it was not very strong on these living beings—at most, it could suppress beings with only 50% of demi-god strength. As for the supreme god Loki, the suppression was less than 15%, and there was even less pressure on the others!
As for the legends, although they faced greater suppression, their own strength was not enough to make much of a difference against powerful opponents like ancient demons, so they had little impact on this battle!
After entering this strange divine kingdom space, what greeted them was a chaotic scene that ruined the harmonious beauty of birds singing and flowers blooming. Clearly, this giant named Jin Gu didn’t care about the environment here. As it moved forward, it destroyed countless plants and left clear traces of its passage.
Donald and the others followed the traces left by the giant monster until they reached a group of buildings on a high ground.
The massive demonic monster was desperately attacking the red barrier covered with countless golden veins outside what appeared to be a temple complex.
“It seems that even though this guy has merged his soul and body, his mind isn’t very clear. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have led us here,” said the Red River God with a smile.
“Exactly!” nodded the King of the North. “Here, we can exert much more of our strength. Moreover, the suppressed fallen gods on the other side must be even weaker than us. Fighting us here is undoubtedly a foolish move on Jin Gu’s part!”
“Then what are we waiting for? Are we going to wait until that guy breaks through that barrier to take action?” said the Warhammer God, rushing forward first. Faced with the Warhammer God’s impulsiveness, the Red River God shook his head in exasperation before joining the battle as well.
Indeed, the suppression of this space, which seemed to be a Mayan divine kingdom, on Jin Gu was very strong. Compared to his status as a mid-tier god earlier, this giant’s strength had dropped to at least the peak of a lower-tier god. Although the difference seemed small, the gap in strength was far more than just a twofold difference.
Fortunately, for this ancient demon Jin Gu, its body was extremely powerful. Despite repeated attacks from everyone, it managed to hold on thanks to its sturdy physique, and it could still occasionally turn around to attack the barrier outside the temple.
Seeing that Jin Gu, on the verge of death, still had the leisure to worry about that barrier, it was clear there was something inside that it desperately needed. This made it even more impossible to let it escape! So Donald and Loki exchanged a glance, communicated silently, and then moved together in perfect coordination.
“I hope that this fallen being will be freed from its physical form in reality!”
Donald unleashed the Great Prophecy Art, which he had not used since entering the Ruins of Forgetfulness to conserve his divine power. Once the invisible force of rules was activated, it immediately took effect. Jin Gu, surrounded by everyone, suddenly froze, let out a defiant roar, and a black shadow seemed to be pulled out of its body by invisible hands.
Then Loki waved his staff, and black flames, as if emerging from hell, spread once again, covering Jin Gu’s giant body, thousands of feet in size, completely, preventing the demon spirit from finding a way back.
Without its demon spirit, the once ferocious monster suddenly acted like a fool. Though its burned limbs twitched uncontrollably, it showed no intention of escaping or extinguishing the flames.
However, despite Loki’s powerful black flames, they could only make the willless body sizzle without causing any real damage.
“What a powerful body! No wonder even the power of those Babylonian god-kings couldn’t break this guy down and refine him—only draw out a portion of his blood!”
As Loki marveled, Donald had already released a divine light, intimidating the demon spirit separated from Jin Gu.
If this demon spirit, transformed from an ancient demon with the strength of a fallen supreme god, were still in its complete state, Donald’s projection of a higher-grade divine artifact might not be able to control it for long, let alone suppress it!
But now, with another higher-grade divine artifact present in the projection of the Book of Truth—although Donald could only communicate with it initially and couldn’t fully unleash the true power of the Book of Fate—it was sufficient to completely suppress this demon spirit, whose strength was now less than one-tenth of its peak.
