Chapter 482: The Collision of True Gods’ Will
While Donald was talking with King Charles of the North, the fluctuations of the laws emanating from the altar grew increasingly stronger. At first, they were intermittent, but now they were spreading steadily outside the underground palace. Clearly, the next moment would be when Celt VII ignited the first flame of the laws!
By then, Donald and Charles had stopped talking and were looking solemnly at Celt VII atop the altar.
The formation of the flame of the laws—both at the beginning and the end—was the most critical phase. The middle part was merely the process of the flame transforming the body and soul. As long as one had enough strength, they could endure it.
Sure enough, the two true gods didn’t have to wait long. Just a few breaths later, a transparent ripple, as if caused by an energy explosion, silently spread outward under their gaze. It quickly spread beyond the underground palace, affecting almost half of the Kosovo region.
Such a significant disturbance proved that the person who ignited this divine flame also possessed great potential. Though not as unique as Donald, an outsider from another world, they were almost on par with the former King Charles. This showed just how profound Celt VII’s three hundred years of accumulation had been.
When the flame of the laws quietly appeared within Celt VII’s body, both Donald and Charles breathed a sigh of relief. Once the first flame stabilized, half of the process of igniting the divine flame would be complete. Now, it depended on whether Celt VII could hold on!
“Donald, these faith crystals you provided are truly invaluable to the true gods!”
King Charles of the North looked with deep emotion at the two orc statues at the edge of the altar, each with a brilliant divine essence crystal floating above their heads.
To keep these former true gods trapped for a long time and prevent any accidents, Donald had, before leaving, replicated the method used by mages to trap abyssal demons—transforming them into puppets of true gods. This preserved their physical vitality while firmly controlling their consciousness.
Now, Bigel and Kara, these orcs who could barely be considered demi-gods, were in agony. Their consciousnesses were awake, yet they were forced to act according to Donald’s will. Though they longed to merge with the divine essences above their heads, their bodies instinctively obeyed his commands and even tried to actively collect faith crystals.
Any person in this situation would be driven mad. But Bigel and Kara, having once been true gods, possessed immortal souls with extremely resilient wills, making it difficult for them to go mad. They could only endure the pain while praying countless times that their god, the dictator Ugesh, would soon discover their plight and come to rescue them.
“This is the critical moment! Although it’s not certain that enemies will come to disrupt King Seventh’s process of becoming a god, we still need to be cautious and shield him from all distractions!”
Donald and the others certainly didn’t have the time to pay attention to the thoughts of those two former orc true gods. As soon as the fluctuations from the Flame of Laws spread, the two of them expanded their true godly consciousnesses to cover an area within ten miles around the palace. As expected, they quickly came into contact with the consciousnesses of other godly powers.
The fluctuations generated by a demigod lighting a divine fire were enough to draw the attention of all true gods with followers in the main world. Those who were friendly or neutral, after understanding what was going on, would send a congratulatory message and quietly withdraw after brief contact.
Those with ulterior motives or hostility toward Celt would often probe with their consciousnesses, sometimes even using mental clashes to teach Donald and Charlie a lesson.
Among them were the Spider Queen Flora and the Orc God Ugesh. The former was an irreconcilable enemy of Donald, the Nature Guardian. The latter believed that the two orc true gods had been captured by Celt’s true gods and were currently too busy to rescue them, so he used his formidable power to intimidate these two human true gods, showing his stance.
Fortunately, each true god had their own pride, which prevented these hostile gods from uniting to launch a mental assault. Otherwise, Donald and the others would really have struggled to cope, and Celt Seventh’s successful ascension to godhood might have been compromised!
As for Celt’s biggest enemy at the moment, the Lord of Dawn, Ivan, he hadn’t taken any action this time, not even casting a glance in their direction. This made Donald feel somewhat uneasy.
“Logically, with another demigod joining Celt, that God of Dawn should pay attention. Since there’s still no movement, I can’t help but wonder if that higher god is plotting something in secret.”
Hearing Donald’s doubts, the King of the North was first surprised, then shook his head and smiled, saying, “Perhaps the matters in the New World and Ughesh’s return have kept that prince preoccupied, preventing him from dealing with other things. With his strength to confront higher gods, dealing with us two should be quite easy—there’s no need for any schemes, right?”
Donald disagreed with Charlie’s analysis. Though he merely smiled on the surface, he kept this doubt in mind and secretly resolved to use his allies to keep an eye on the Lord of Dawn’s movements to feel at ease.
He believed the Lord of Dawn might be cautious about the attitudes of powerful neutral gods such as the Goddess of Magic and the Goddess of Agriculture, and thus wouldn’t dare openly harm them. But if he missed such a rare opportunity to suppress them without causing major harm, it clearly meant he had other plans.
He certainly didn’t think that two powerful and loyal allies, along with a group of higher gods who were demigods, would be completely preoccupied just because of this!
After all, under normal circumstances, a powerful higher god could summon at least five avatars. Although this number wasn’t fixed, it was enough for the god to handle various matters separately!
Under the protection of these two newly risen gods, no reckless forces attempted to sabotage the process of lighting the divine fire for Celt’s third demigod in history.
In fact, Celt VII should have been the fourth, with the third being Uther under Donald’s command. But due to Uther’s special circumstances, not much attention was paid when the divine fire was lit, so few outside knew about it!
The moment the Fire of Laws converged and completed its transformation under the rules, the entire process—which had lasted days with only half a day of actual transformation—officially came to an end. All anomalies disappeared, leaving only Celt VII standing quietly on the altar, surrounded by divine radiance.
