Chapter 436: News from the Sea God Kingdom
This carrier cultivation device incorporated the cloning aspect of the Lich Rebirth Spell, and its cultivation results were far superior to those achieved by mages using the spell on their own.
After all, mages are human, and humans can make mistakes. But with these ancient, precise arcane experimental devices for alchemy and enchantment, as long as their components remain intact and operated correctly, there is absolutely no chance of error!
Under normal circumstances, this process takes at least four to eight months to allow the carrier’s brain and other organs to develop fully. However, Donald had the Time House as a cheat tool, which reduced this time to less than two days.
Since this cultivation process did not involve creating a soulful life, time acceleration had no adverse effects on the carrier’s growth.
Two days later, when Donald took out the device containing a fresh body from the Time House, all the mages involved in the research were excited.
It was a human body born from their own efforts! Although it lacked a soul and couldn’t be considered a fully created life, it was undoubtedly a tremendous achievement given the decline in alchemy and arcane research today!
Only after all these preliminary preparations were completed did they reach the most tense and critical stage: casting the actual Lich Rebirth Spell. Using the power of this legendary spell, they sent Chikofield’s soul, free from negative energy influences, into the carrier’s body and endowed it with vitality.
“Let’s begin!”
Standing at the other end of the experimental table, Chikofield said to Donald without any signs of tension.
Donald nodded and began reciting the incantations. An electric current, fueled by the magic generated by his spells, flowed into the device. One end of the current went to the empty body lying on the table, while the other end passed through a metal device above the head of the High Lich.
A few breaths later, stimulated by the electric current, a pale blue light, like a liquid, emerged from the top of Chikofield’s skull and flowed along the experimental device into the body on the table.
As this light entered the body—more precisely, the area where the brain was located—and combined with the electric current’s stimulation, the body, which had seemed lifeless, began to show signs of activity.
Though it was merely a slight rise and fall of the chest, an ordinary person with poor eyesight might not even notice it.
But who were the people present? Even the weakest among them was a peak Silver-level mage, so naturally they noticed what was happening right away.
Seeing that things were working, Chris wanted to cheer in joy, but then remembered that this was a critical moment. What if something went wrong and everything failed halfway? So he suppressed his excitement and focused intently on the actions at the experimental table.
How powerful is the soul of a legendary warrior? Especially when it’s a legendary lich free from physical constraints?
To put it in terms of capacity, even 1% of the soul of a legendary lich poured into an ordinary person’s body would likely be too much to bear, causing their brain to explode!
Even if this body was created using the flesh and blood of a true god, it might not be able to comfortably accommodate all of Chicofield’s soul.
Of course, Donald was prepared for this. While casting the spell, he deliberately transferred the dominant personality part of Chicofield’s soul into the experimental subject first, storing the other soul memories in the sub-artifact, the Supreme Brain, which he had given to the High Lich in advance.
Since he himself had already ignited the divine fire and become a true god, the Supreme Brain’s function for him was rather limited. It was better to lend it to Chicofield to store memories temporarily. Once the host body’s strength recovered, he could slowly integrate those memories into his own brain and soul. Until then, he could access those memories and knowledge at any time through the Supreme Brain!
After all of the High Lich’s souls had been transferred, the Supreme Brain, as a sub-artifact, also merged and bonded with the soul of the new body. Seeing that the new body showed no obvious rejection reaction, Donald finally breathed a sigh of relief and calmed down.
This was the first time they had performed soul transfer, and even someone like Donald, who had become a true god, couldn’t help but feel nervous!
Speaking of which, the few people watching around were even more anxious than Donald, who was leading the resurrection ritual. It was Chicofield, the protagonist, who remained completely calm—perhaps because, as an undead lich, he had long lost the ability to feel nervous!
Under the anxious watch of Donald and the others, after a few minutes, the chest of their first experimental subject suddenly began to rise and fall violently!
Heavy breathing sounds came through the shield of the experimental table.
“Huh…”
The experimental subject, having exhaled, opened its eyes, sat up abruptly, and began to gasp for air.
Afterward, as its breathing stabilized—no, it should now be called Chicofield!
The gaze in this body gradually changed from vacant to deep and bright, appearing extremely wise—clearly, Chikofield’s soul had successfully taken residence in it. Standing up from the laboratory table, Chikofield looked at his young, strong male body and felt a surge of joy; his eyes streamed with tears as if stimulated. “Enough, why cry? You’ll have plenty of reasons to be excited later. Right now, your body needs rest—don’t waste water!” Donald said, teasingly. Chikofield on the table spoke in a hoarse, strained voice. “Th-thank you!” Donald shook his head with a smile, signaling that Chikofield didn’t need to say more and should rest. After Chikofield fell asleep, Donald observed him for a while before leaving the laboratory, leaving teachers like Messel to take turns watching over him to prevent any rejection reactions. Donald, who had just returned to the lord’s mansion to rest, received news from the kingdom. Since forming an alliance with the royal family represented by the two sacred spirits of Selth, the royal intelligence agency had set up an office in Dalaran, headed by that silver fox, Anguva. The appearance of magic portals replaced the need for small flying creatures that required a day and night journey from the capital to the northern province’s capital; intelligence agents could now transport messages directly between the two places, essentially enabling real-time communication. The news brought by the royal intelligence agents was that a new kingdom had been established in the southeastern coastal region of the continent. Its ruler was the newly ascended true god Donald had dealt with before—the Sea God, Bassetdo.
