Chapter 271: The White Mountain God’s Request

“Don’t be nervous. I have no ill intentions; on the contrary, I need your help!”
The White Mountain God noticed Donald’s wariness and spoke in a kind tone.
Seeing that the White Mountain God didn’t seem hostile, and given his strength—comparable to that of a mid-tier god in the main world—he could easily dominate this mortal who hadn’t even reached the legendary realm. Even if Donald had the Book of Truth to unleash divine power, it likely wouldn’t even scratch the god. Since resistance was futile, it was better to act generously and openly to leave a good impression!
Seeing Donald adjust his mood so quickly, the White Mountain God nodded inwardly, developing some appreciation for this mortal with limited strength but great potential.
“Let’s get to the point! Do you know why I’m asking for your help?”
Donald had an idea and said, “Could it be because I purified that polluted land? Was that test set up for that reason?” The White Mountain God glanced at Donald with admiration once again.
“It’s easier to talk to smart people! You’re right. The main purpose of selecting an heir at the Green Tree Ruins is to resolve this problem that has plagued us for hundreds of years!”
“Even a powerful god like you can’t solve such pollution problems and has to seek help from mortals?”
Donald raised his question. Although he found that pollution force terrifying, it was only at the mortal level. Surely gods above demi-gods wouldn’t be troubled by it!
“That’s because you don’t understand how terrifying this force is!” The White Mountain God frowned as if pondering a difficult puzzle, then explained the reason to Donald.
“The Green Tree Goddess was highly talented and wise, the most promising among demi-gods to ascend to a lower god or even reach a higher divine rank. Her innovative ideas even amazed us lower totem gods. But just before she was about to ascend, a monster summoned from another dimension was brought in for study, accidentally opening a passage to a filthy world. This force was highly aggressive, even capable of corroding divine power. After trying every method without success, to kill the monster and seal the passage to prevent further expansion and avoid a catastrophe for the entire Totem Continent, the Green Tree Goddess sacrificed her divine status, creating the Green Tree Ruins outside the passage to isolate it from this world. Then, using the power of her divinity, she sealed it, thus bringing the situation under control.”

“When I first realized that the situation was out of my control, Lüshu had already passed on the message. By the time I arrived, Lüshu had sacrificed her divine position, with only her soul remaining to guard the ruins.” At these words, Bai Shan Shen showed a hint of regret. He had always taken good care of Lüshu Shen, treating her like a sister. The thought of her soul trapped in this totem jar world, unable to move at all, filled him with pain.

Facing such a tricky situation, even as the leader of the Great Snowy Mountains region, even the powerful lower-tier totem gods couldn’t solve it. If the seal set by Lüshu Shen using her divine power was disturbed, it would cause the highly aggressive spatial passages to change. There were few gods on the Totem Continent skilled in spatial powers, and Bai Shan Shen was one of them—indeed, the strongest. Even he couldn’t solve it, let alone the other totem gods.

So, the only option was to seal off the entire Lüshu ruins to prevent other gods or mortals from discovering them and causing accidents.

After doing this, Bai Shan Shen went to the two most powerful figures on the Totem Continent to explain the situation. Upon hearing about this troublesome issue, one of them—a god extremely rare in his ability to predict the future—offered a divine artifact, foreseeing that hundreds of years later, a mortal would completely resolve this threat.

After hearing the entire story, Donald couldn’t help but sigh. Even as a true god, one might not be able to have everything go as one wishes.

“Sealing a spatial passage shouldn’t be too difficult for you, Your Highness. Could there be other issues?” He still had some doubts. Bai Shan Shen had said he had sought help from the two most powerful mid-tier totem gods on the Totem Continent. Although they were mid-tier totem gods, these two ancient beings could exert strength comparable to those of the higher-tier gods in the main world’s starry skies. Couldn’t they solve such a problem?

Donald didn’t have a clear idea of just how powerful the higher-tier gods were, but the creator of the Book of Truth was merely a higher-tier god from another world who could create such powerful artifacts that surpassed ordinary divine weapons. So, just how formidable must its owner be?

The God of White Mountain sighed and said, “The difficulty lies not in sealing the passage, but in how to expel and purify this terrifying force of pollution. If this problem isn’t solved, the existence of the passage will remain a constant threat. This force can even corrode and transform divine power; only spatial forces can block it. Green Tree sealed it in time, and I added an additional layer of spatial barrier on top of her work, which should hold up for a thousand or two thousand years without issue. The problem is that as more of this force leaks out through the interdimensional passage over time, it will eventually break through the seal and erupt—by then, it will be impossible to control! The only outcome left for us is to abandon this world and seek a new place to live.” Realizing the severity of the situation, Donald also grew solemn.

The integration of the Totem Continent with the main world had likely reached a critical point, with changes expected within a hundred years. If such a disaster struck the Totem Continent, the main world would inevitably be affected as well. Therefore, Donald had to resolve this issue both for public good and personal reasons.

“Since that’s the case, please order what needs to be done, Your Highness! It’s best to nip such a disaster in the bud!” Seeing Donald’s determination, the God of White Mountain felt greatly relieved and immediately took him to the location of the seal.

The top of the giant tree wasn’t like ordinary trees with just a crown of leaves. Within that crown were countless branches forming platforms, covered in vines and lush foliage, along with magical structures created by the tree itself. It looked just like the elven cities described in fantasy literature from his past life—dreamlike.

The place the God of White Mountain brought Donald to was a platform at the very top of the main trunk.

This platform, located at the center of all the platforms, must be the center of the fifth layer of the ruins and also the largest aerial platform.

On the somewhat empty platform, there was only one object: a huge crystal with a diameter of at least five feet, floating quietly at the center of the platform.

Upon looking closely inside the crystal, one could see a swirling vortex of black smoke moving slowly within it, with occasional flashes of bright green light appearing within the vortex.

“This is where the Green Tree opened the dimensional portal. She used the entire power of the ruins to seal it with her totem deity, while the outer crystal barrier was created by me. Although this black force moves slowly, it’s because there’s a time spell from the Dark Moon Palace that restricts its movement speed to just one percent of the outside world’s rate. Otherwise, these corrupting forces would be extremely active and could contaminate the entire fifth layer of space in just a few breaths!” Donald now understood the severity of this force and asked anxiously, “I wonder what you need me to do, Your Highness? If I’m faced with too many corrupting forces at once, even my natural powers might not be enough to purify them.”

The White Mountain God nodded and said, “Of course, I won’t be so reckless as to open the seal right away. My plan is to set up another spatial barrier outside this platform first, then create a tiny gap in the original seal. These forces can’t corrode spatial energy, as I’ll be in control. The exit shouldn’t widen too much, and the intensity of the corrupting energy released each time will only be slightly stronger than what you purified before!” Donald felt slightly relieved.

“That puts me at ease. Purifying such a large amount shouldn’t be too difficult!” The White Mountain God smiled in satisfaction at his words, then focused intently, waving his hands to release a layer of crystalline energy that enveloped an area of about fifty feet around the center of the platform into a huge sphere. Its surface was made of crystal clear, eggshell-like material, identical in appearance to that of the central crystal.

After finishing this, the White Mountain God turned to Donald and asked, “Are you ready? I’m about to start opening the seal!”
