Chapter 260: The Legendary Iron Anchor God
Boom!
The furious strike from the Black Fish God did not crush its opponent into a pulp as expected; instead, it hit a pale golden light shield and was reflected back.
Fueled by rage, it tried to strike again, but it no longer had the chance.
In an instant, a flash of golden light appeared, and the two totems were seized and vanished, severing the connection between them and the God of Totems.
Without divine power, the Black Fish God immediately weakened. Its massive body shrank back to its original size in the blink of an eye, with blood streaming from its mouth and nose. It lost the ability to resist even without further intervention.
This was because the Black Fish God had used the forbidden technique of “faith explosion,” which, though it allowed for a burst of immense power, placed an enormous strain on its body—even for a god.
When Donald severed the connection between this earth deity and the totems, it lost its divine support and was instantly struck back by the power of faith, leaving it gravely injured and on the verge of death.
Donald glanced at the Iron Key God, who was eager to act, and nodded slightly. The Iron Bell God happily approached the helpless Black Fish God. However, upon seeing its pitiful condition, its desire to insult it faded, and it merely sighed, saying, “Though you’ve been fierce in the past, you still have some integrity. I’ll end your suffering quickly!”
With that, it neatly ended the Black Fish God’s life. Satisfied, Donald collected the bodies and souls of the Black Fish God and the Green Fish God.
If these two God of Totems’ souls were allowed to escape, their spiritual strength would likely prevent them from dissipating immediately, and they might even have the chance to become gods again. So Donald wouldn’t leave any risks behind. Moreover, the divine power in these souls was part of the fragments constituting their godhood, along with considerable residual spiritual energy, which he certainly wouldn’t waste.
In this world, there was no underworld or gods in charge of death. Thus, after creatures died, their souls returned to the earth, gradually dissipating over time before reappearing as new life—this was the most fundamental cycle of nature. Some souls with innate talent or strong will retained a degree of consciousness and did not fully dissipate, giving rise to natural spirits in the mountains and forests.
This is also why the totem gods in this world became so prevalent. Those natural spirits are the easiest to gain recognition from the will of nature and thus become earth deities. With the initial totem gods existing, some intelligent beings later sought power and immortality, leading to the emergence of totem gods of various sizes across different regions. At that time, these totem gods had not yet formed a systematic structure like they do now. It was not until the rise of several wise and powerful human totem gods, who made sweeping reforms, that the Totoem Continent developed into its current balanced and competitively oriented structure.
After sorting through their spoils, Donald instructed the God of Iron Clanks, “Things here are almost done. Go and take control of the territory of Wu Fish Island, then move the main totem here! This island is larger than your previous Iron Dart Island, and its environment is much better, making it more suitable for your development!”
The God of Iron Rice immediately went to communicate with the will of nature, filled with joy, while Donald began to process the spoils in his hands under the eager gazes of everyone present.
A moment later, two fragments of divine essence appeared in his open hands.
This time, due to the gains from two totem gods, Donald refined two fragments of divine essence—one for the combat domain and one for the medical domain—assigning them to his children, the Sword Saint and Uther.
The God of Wu Fish possessed the seals of fish and hunting deities, along with incomplete domains of water and combat.
The God of Green Fish held the seals of fishermen and tides, as well as incomplete domains of medical care and water.
“Combat domain?”
Hearing that it wasn’t the swordsmanship-related divine domain she wanted, the female Sword Saint showed a hint of disappointment. Donald had no solution for this. If the Codex of Gods contained such divine domains, he could have transformed the laws of other domains to help her form the desired fragment of divine essence. But since the creator of the Book of Truth was a representative of the true gods of that world’s legal system, it was unsurprising that they hadn’t collected any swordsmanship-related deities. He could only form one fragment of the combat domain for the female Sword Saint. Although it wasn’t a swordsmanship-related domain, the combat domain was still very suitable for this master swordsman. The combat domain was a universal domain; anyone who understood it on their own could acquire it. Even if a true god made combat their primary deity, as long as other true gods did not elevate combat to a deity of their own, it wouldn’t cause divine conflicts or wars.
The same applied to other universal domains such as medicine, craftsmanship, kindness, and evil.
“The chances of obtaining a divine title related to swordsmanship are extremely slim. According to God of the Iron Bell, no Sword God or totem god skilled in swordsmanship has been heard of on the west coast of the Totem Continent.” The Female Sword Saint could only accept this fragment of a divine essence. Seeing others’ strength surge rapidly after fusing such fragments while she remained stagnant, contributing little in these missions, she had no choice but to settle for it. After all, it was already a great fortune to get a fragment suitable for her to fuse—she didn’t deserve to be picky!
Surprisingly, God of the Green Fish possessed a divine essence related to medicine, which explained why his combat prowess wasn’t as strong. Generally, gods of medical support had lower combat capabilities compared to those of main combat roles.
With this fragment containing medical powers, Uther could wield his holy light even more effectively. Even the ultimate spell, Resurrection, saw reduced restrictions—so long as the body was relatively intact and the soul hadn’t reached the divine realm, even if it had dispersed or entered the underworld, it could be gathered and pulled back by the rules embedded in this resurrection spell, allowing the person to be reborn.
Of course, this spell still consumed a great deal of holy light, preventing it from being used repeatedly, nor could it fully revive those killed by divine power or cursed forces.
Donald quietly kept to himself the divine seals of Fisherman and Tides, along with two incomplete seals related to water domains. Others assumed he had transformed them into power to fuse two divine essences, unaware that he possessed the miraculous and powerful Divine Codex, which allowed him to collect and preserve divine and domain seals.
Additionally, the faith crystals brought by these two totem gods greatly replenished the divine energy he had spent earlier creating a demi-plane and building a magic ship. Although each individually contributed less than the Crab God, who dominated an entire island, their combined total was more than double what he had obtained before.
From then on, the Three Fish Islands became the direct territory of God of the Iron Bell, serving as Donald and the others’ base on the Totem Continent. Any troublesome or useless spoils obtained from hunting totem gods could be handed over to God of the Iron Bell for disposal.
Three days later, God of the Iron Bell had already moved his totem to the island in the lake at the center of the Three Fish Islands. The islands were now renamed the Three Iron Bell Islands—the original Fish Island became Iron Bell Island, the original Crab Island became Silver Bell Island, and the original Iron Bell Island became Golden Bell Island.
As for the original indigenous inhabitants of the island, those who were strong and devout were relocated to settle on the main Utiedang Island, while the rest were sent to the other two islands. The living conditions on the main island were the best—there was both freshwater and fertile farmland. Men did not have to risk going out to sea to fish every day, and women and children did not have to worry about suffering from diseases due to a lack of vegetarian food.
Only through comparison could one realize the disparity. The people on the other two islands could only devoutly worship the God of Utiedang, offering them their faith in hopes that the great god would bestow a better life upon them.
With the expansion of its territory, the power of the God of Utiedang soared, its control area expanding by nearly ten times, including parts of the waters between the three islands. Coupled with the growth in the number of believers, who had already reached a golden peak, the God of Utiedang, who was on the verge of becoming a legend, easily broke through those barriers with little effort.
After becoming a legendary totem god, the God of Utiedang also secretly tried to break free from the constraints of the contract with Donald. Unexpectedly, the strength of this contract far exceeded his imagination. Even though he was already one rank above Donald, there was no sign of it weakening. Moreover, he sensed that if he attempted to unilaterally terminate the contract, he would face endless unknown consequences. This realization chilled his heart, causing him to completely abandon his petty plans and truly submit to Donald.
