Chapter 196: Epilogue
Donald was also a bold person. After discussing things briefly with the Magic Sword Carlisle, he began waiting for an opportunity. Defeating a powerful enemy like the Spider Queen’s clone required overwhelming strength; even the most detailed plans carried many variables. They could only rely on their own ability to control the pace of battle and seize a chance to strike hard to complete the task.
So, the two of them actually had no real plan—just four simple words: act on opportunity!
This put a severe test on their ability to recognize battle opportunities and their reaction speeds.
Under the siege of numerous powerful foes, the Spider Queen was at a disadvantage but showed no signs of defeat. However, her two golden lieutenants were not so lucky. Among the golden-ranked warriors present, they were the weakest.
Although Dietlind, the actual ruler of Scorpion Tail Flower City and the head matriarch of the Banrey family, was a powerful priest at the mid-gold level, without the divine power of her goddess backing her, her combat strength was no match for even a mage at the gold rank. As for the martial arts master of the first family, his strength was even worse. With the help of the Bronze Dragon and the Herald God, he was the first evil creature to be eliminated.
Soon after, the head matriarch followed in the footsteps of her lover and martial arts master, killed by the combined attacks of the four Aetherian Exorcists.
“This is our chance!”
Though the Spider Queen could still hold her ground under the siege despite losing two key allies, her defense was clearly strained. She tried to avoid attacks from anyone other than the Goddess of Agriculture, the Bronze Dragon, and the Herald God. If she couldn’t avoid them, she relied on defensive spells and divine shields to withstand them. Since none of these attacks exceeded the strength of the gold rank, a few hits wouldn’t break through her formidable defenses.
But she underestimated the hidden strength of Donald and the Magic Sword Carlisle. Seizing the moment when the demon god’s clone was busy dealing with other Phoenix Feather Angels, Donald shouted, “Sundering Spell!”
The Spider Queen was instantly terrified and dodged. Having suffered from the Sundering Spell before, she now feared it deeply. After all, those great archmages’ Sundering Spells could completely shatter even the defenses of a true god’s true form! Now, as just a clone, she couldn’t withstand the power of a level-9 Sundering Spell. On the other side was the clone of the Goddess of Agriculture—once her defenses failed, defeat would come in an instant.
But it turned out later that Donald was just feigning an attack; he hadn’t actually cast any Dissolution spell at all, which eased Flora’s worries a bit.
“It seems this damned human mage also relied on his equipment to cast that Dissolution spell earlier; he definitely can’t cast it a second time in such a short time!”
Just as the Spider Queen relaxed and thought this, Donald called out again.
“Dissolution spell!”
Seeing that mortal mage trying to scare her once more, the Spider Queen found it amusing. Instead of dodging, she decided to stay put and see what effect his “Dissolution spell” would have.
But this time, Donald actually cast a real Dissolution spell. Using that Silver Moon Coin once, if it had to absorb free energy from the air to recover, it would take at least a month before it could be used again. But with the energy supplied by the Book of Truth, once the five-minute cooldown of the arcane array passed, it could be used a second time right away.
Deceived by Donald’s feints and real attacks, the Spider Queen made a mistake due to her habitual way of thinking and fell for his trick right away.
“Ah!”
As the Dissolution spell hit her, unable to dodge, the Spider Queen screamed instantly, and the layers of light shields around her shattered in an instant.
“Damn it! How dare you deceive me!”
Donald thought, “If not you, then who? I’ve already offended you once; it doesn’t matter if I do it again!”
Without hesitation, he produced a golden family emblem and shouted, “Time is limited! Don’t let her escape!”
Then he activated the spell within the emblem.
“Voodoo!”
A golden light filled with mysterious energy emanated from Donald, spinning and connecting to several of his allies nearby.
Those covered by the golden light immediately felt a strange force enhancing them. Although it didn’t directly boost their strength, it indirectly increased their courage, confidence, and determination.
The people present immediately surrounded the Spider Queen. The magic swordswoman Carlisle laughed loudly as her body began to change—her height increased by a foot, her once clear eyes turned into chaotic blood red, and her inner power surged at an astonishing speed. In the blink of an eye, she broke through to the Legendary realm.
Legends could initially master domain abilities. Carlisle unleashed a blood-red domain, breaking through the Spider Queen’s dark red domain, and slashed a bloody wound on the Spider Queen’s body with her sword.
The Spider Queen, unwilling to be hurt, launched a counterattack, her fingers turning into claws as she struck at Carlisle. Yet the attack that could shatter a black onyx statue failed to cause any harm to Carlisle at all, disappearing silently as if it had vanished into the sea. Only now did they realize the true effect of the golden spell Donald had cast. “It’s an invincible spell! Has this kid already mastered such a powerful rule?” Only the Goddess of Agriculture had the time to ponder this question; everyone else was focused on the battle. What could be more satisfying than launching attacks while the enemy could only take them passively without the ability to retaliate? All of them targeted the Spider Queen. As for the Goddess of Night not far away? Though protected by an invincible ability, it was better not to offend her! That ancient goddess was no match for the demon god hated by everyone in the main world like the Spider Queen. “Haha! So satisfying! Flora, you never expected this day, did you? Take this—Slaughter of Flesh!” The Spider Queen, under continuous attack, didn’t even get a chance to respond before being swept up by the torrent of blood-red sword light embodied by Carlisle, who now possessed legendary strength. Even with divine protection, not a single part of the dark elf girl’s body remained intact after that attack. Of course, using abilities at the legendary level also took a toll on Carlisle, leaving several deep wounds on his body that stained his clothes red. “Ah! Ah! All of you, die!” The repeatedly battered Spider Queen went mad, charging forward without care, her divine power blazing violently. The explosive energy scattered Donald and the others. When the storm subsided, the Spider Queen’s will, filled with endless resentment, along with the body and soul of Adèle, the eldest daughter of the First Family, turned to ashes. “Cough, cough! I didn’t expect her to go so far as to unleash her divine power wildly!” The Demon Sword Carlisle, crawling out of the ruins, coughed weakly. During that self-destruction, thanks to Donald’s voodoo-induced invincibility, he hadn’t suffered much damage. His weakness stemmed from using forbidden bloodline powers, and now the aftereffects were showing. “Huh! Where’s Elsa?” The Goddess of Agriculture, who had been watching the Spider Queen, suddenly asked upon noticing the absence of the Goddess of Night on the battlefield.
The Elf Goddess held a girl in black clothes in one hand—the vessel that had housed the Dark Goddess’s avatar. With a cool voice, she explained, “Seeing that she wasn’t our match, we took advantage of Flora’s self-destruction to have Elsa extract her will!”
The Agriculture Goddess praised her, saying, “As expected of one of the oldest true gods. By leaving behind this avatar, she only lost a little of her divinity and power! If her will had remained, we might have been able to uncover her secrets. Elsa clearly thought of this and resolutely gave up on this avatar!”
The Elf Goddess, Lauren, nodded in agreement, then glanced at Donald, who had just emerged from the ruins. She handed the Shadow Priest to the Agriculture Goddess and said, “I’m leaving now!”
The Agriculture Goddess smiled and said, “Don’t worry! Leave this to me!”
Immediately afterward, the Elf Goddess of Moonlight and the Dark Goddess nodded, waved their hands in front of them, and disappeared as if entering another door.
At that moment, the summoned Aetherian gods also bowed respectfully to the Agriculture Goddess. Ignoring the old mage Messel, who had summoned them, they returned to the celestial realm in ethereal forms.
The Agriculture Goddess carried the Shadow Priest and stopped about ten steps in front of Donald. Smiling, she said, “This time, we were able to achieve our goal thanks to you! It seems I was right to ask for your help. What reward do you want? As long as it’s not too much, I can help you get it.”
Donald hurriedly replied, “I dare not! Your Highness, you’re too kind. I was just trying to save my own life! I certainly wouldn’t dare expect any reward!”
He really hoped this goddess would leave soon. As for a reward, he wouldn’t even dare accept it if she offered it!
“That won’t do. If word gets out, the gods will think I’m stingy!”
The Agriculture Goddess glanced at her captive, then reached out and pulled out a brilliant beam of light from the vessel that had housed the Dark Goddess’s avatar. She stored it in a white crystal.
Throwing the white crystal at Donald, she said, “Here, take this. It’s a waste for me to keep it; at best, it could be used to create a low-grade secondary artifact! Consider it my reward!”
Donald reached out to take the white crystal.
Originally, he didn’t want the Agriculture Goddess’s reward to avoid unnecessary trouble.
But he could clearly see that it was a trace of divinity left behind by the Dark Goddess. That made him eager for it.
It should be noted that although the primordial divinity in the previous Evil God statue was powerful, its quantity was limited. According to calculations from the Book of Truth, it was impossible to elevate him to the demi-god realm in just one step. Therefore, the more divinity he had, the better for him. With the Book of Truth’s assistance, he didn’t face the issue of divinity conflicts that others did. Ordinary divine beings could usually coexist peacefully even if they merged two unrelated forms of divinity. However, acquiring a third form of divinity posed a risk of conflict, which is why such beings generally avoided merging a third type of divinity that exceeded two existing categories.
After much consideration, Donald still decided not to return the white crystal but instead chose to accept this form of divinity. The Goddess of Agriculture also saw Donald’s divine bloodline and knew he would surely want to strengthen his divinity, so she offered this bait. To her, it was merely a useless trophy, yet it forced Donald to accept it.
