Chapter 95: The Prince of the Blood Elves —— Kaelthas
Donald did not bring any followers; only Uther accompanied him as the two secretly left Twilight Town and arrived at Moonwood.
“Let’s begin!” In front of the Tree of Life, Uther stood guard a few steps away while Donald summoned the projection of the Book of Truth and spoke.
“Book of Truth, summon for me a human hero—a blood mage!”
As soon as he finished speaking, the projection of the artifact glowed brightly, elemental crystals flowed out like water, and the soul power stored within it rapidly diminished.
Compared to Donald’s own transformation into a hero, summoning a hero unit this time was much quieter and shorter in duration. After all, one required precise control of elements and souls to transform and strengthen existing beings, while the other relied on pre-calculated templates to infuse energy and souls—making the former undoubtedly far more difficult and fraught with variables.
It wasn’t long before a tall figure clad in radiant armor appeared before Donald and Uther.
When the light faded, a noble and handsome blood elf wearing mage robes in an elven style knelt on one knee before Donald.
“You are the supreme sun, my great master!”
Although it wasn’t his first time summoning a hero subordinate, Donald was still pleased to see one of his favorite heroes appear.
“From today onward, your name shall be Kaelthas. You are a descendant of the High Elves—never speak of the name ‘blood elf’ again. First, get familiar with what I’ve told you. After that, we’ll part ways. You will enter the realm as an adventurer and join my ranks.”
Kaelthas, now named Prince of the Blood Elves, immediately replied, “I obey your orders, my master!”
Though this Kaelthas was created by the Book of Truth and not the real Prince Kaelthas from the history of Warcraft, since Donald had named him Kaelthas, no one would object.
The strength of the Dalaran realm was still weak. Not to mention the unexpected incident of discovering orcs, even Viscount Macbeth, who was determined to undermine Dalaran, was surely plotting something in the shadows to eliminate Donald, whom he saw as a thorn in his side.
If they didn’t strengthen their military forces, they would clearly fall behind the current developments. Thus, it was imperative to summon another hero subordinate in advance.
Donald understood well that adding one bronze-level warrior brought far greater deterrence than creating dozens of black-iron warriors.
Half an hour later, after seeing Kelsas leave, Donald opened the Book of Truth. There was still a little over ten thousand units of soul power left in it, so he conducted another permanent summoning. A day later, rumors spread throughout Dalaran that a new Bronze-Grade warrior had joined the realm—a adventurer from the southern part of the continent, a rare and powerful arcane mage. Arcane mages are a type of sorcerer; they can cast spells not only through the power in their bloodline but also by learning some of the spells used by mages. Donald sat in the ceremony hall of the lord’s palace, with his subordinates standing on both sides of him. Pointing at the mysterious figure below—tall, clad in a hooded cloak, wearing a strange mask that concealed his entire face—Donald said, “This is Kelsas. He is my second mage follower after Uther. He is also a mage, a rare arcane mage. You should communicate more with him!” The subordinates were momentarily speechless. After a while, Mage Moray spoke up, “My lord, please forgive my boldness, but you mentioned this so suddenly. Could you tell us who this Mr. Kelsas is and why he follows you?” Donald wasn’t angry. He had expected them to ask this question. Introducing Kelsas was merely for those who were not summoned; as for the summoned warriors, they would already know Kelsas’s identity through their sense of heroes. “Kelsas’s background is extraordinary, and he has reasons he can’t reveal, which is why he has to hide his true identity from outsiders. You’ll understand once you see him!” With that, Donald nodded at the figure below, who immediately removed his cloak and mask, revealing his true appearance. Bright golden hair, blue eyes, pale skin with a slight golden tint, a statuesque and graceful figure, pointed ears unlike those of humans, and a height of over nine feet—all indicated that this was a noble elf. “An elf!” “Good heavens! It’s a high elf…” William and the three mages exclaimed in shock, clearly stunned by Kelsas’s identity.
It should be noted that since the elves retreated to the Elven Isles in the southern seas thousands of years ago, they have rarely appeared on the mainland. Even when seen, they are usually young elves who have come out to handle affairs or gain experience; most prefer to land in the warm regions in the south of the continent. They have never set foot in frigid areas like the Northlands, let alone the North County at the far northern edge of Thelos.
Now, the appearance of a legendary elf before them made them feel as if they were in a dream. And this was no ordinary elf—although not particularly powerful, the three mages, who possessed extensive knowledge, immediately recognized the uniqueness of this elf based on their books: golden hair and such skin were symbols of the direct descendants of the High Elves, the Sun Elves.
The elf then gave a slight mage’s bow with a proud yet not arrogant attitude and said, “Kelsas greets you all!”
It was then that Donald spoke up, “Kelsas is a descendant of the High Elves, and his identity is sensitive. You should all be aware of this. So, only you need to know his identity; do not let anyone else find out. The situation in our territory is not yet stable, and Kelsas is one of our most important assets—we cannot expose him to outsiders!”
“As ordered, my lord. We will surely keep this secret strictly!”
The High Elves are the natural leaders and nobles among the elves, one of the most powerful races beneath the true gods, on par with the ancient Titan giants. The closer one’s bloodline is to that of the High Elves, the nobler their status. It is said that no new High Elves have been born in the elf territories for thousands of years. With their almost endless lifespans, the High Elves are not interested in power and prefer to live in secret places. Today, the elf race is ruled by two noble factions: the Sun Elves and the Moon Elves. Compared to the Moon Elves who worship the Moon Goddess, the Sun Elves, who worship the Sun, are even rarer, and there are few descendants of the Sun Elves as well. The largest groups among the elves today are the Forest Elves and the Grassland Elves, direct descendants of the Moon Elves. They are ruled by the Elven Queen, who is also the high priestess of the Moon Elves.
As for the Sun Elves, they adopt a parliamentary system similar to that of the Elders. Most of them are powerful mages and sword saints. Adhering to the traditions of the High Elves, the Sun Elves have few priests and revere the Elven gods with respect rather than fanaticism, as it is said that the existing Elven deities were all the most powerful High Elves who were deified at the beginning. Thus, the High Elves respect and worship their brothers and elders, but they do not worship their own relatives as fanatical humans do.
The Blood Elves were originally High Elves, and Donald thought it would be hard to find any flaws if Kelthas pretended to be a descendant of the High Elves. As for the Elves created based on the game and the world it originated from, there are slight differences between them and the indigenous Elves of this world, but beings below the divine rank should not be able to detect these differences.
Compared to the Moon Elves, the Sun Elves have purer bloodlines. Almost every adult Sun Elf, even without strenuous training, will attain strength above Silver level. Ninety percent of the Gold Mages and Sword Saints in the entire Elf race are Sun Elves. It can be said that they represent the most powerful elite forces among the Elves.
If the Elves were to learn that a pure-blooded Sun Elf noble has wandered to a place like the Northlands and even served a human lord, it would likely cause a upheaval between the two races. The fate of the Dalaran territory, caught between these two major forces, would then be uncertain.
This is something ordinary people like William, who are unaware of the ins and outs, do not know. Of course, Moray and the other two, who have been mages for many years, are aware of it. Therefore, their responses were very solemn.
“Kelthas has extremely powerful innate magic skills, but due to his background, he is not very familiar with the current magical schools and histories of human mages. So these days, I will allow him to access the library. The three mages can also take the time to exchange insights on magic casting with Kelthas. I’m sure you will all gain a lot from this!” This was essentially an opportunity for Moray and the others to improve their skills, and of course, they wouldn’t refuse, agreeing happily.
The arrival of a strong Bronze Mage in the Dalaran territory did not cause much stir among the inhabitants, as their genius mage lord was himself a Bronze Mage, and he had three powerful mages under him. The addition of another mage would only bring them joy and reassurance, with little surprise.
On the contrary, the adventurers who came to Dalaran one after another due to the bounty were greatly surprised.
A adventurer with the same goals as them suddenly joining the ranks of a noble lord is something worth exploring, especially since this adventurer from afar is also a mage. Many adventurers began to consider joining the noble lord’s forces. Some powerful adventurers of the bronze rank believed that with their strength, they could at least become military commanders or knights if they joined the nobles. In the past, there was no such intention because most established nobles already had their own loyal followers trained by them, so they weren’t short of manpower. Moreover, being an adventurer and having great strength also brought considerable earnings. New nobles like Donald, who acquired a large territory, were extremely rare.
