Chapter 469: Meeting the Two Races

For a moment, these people were at a loss, looking at each other. Last night, they had gathered to discuss the matter but came to no conclusion. How should they respond now? Did they really have to agree?

The atmosphere immediately became gloomy. Everyone exchanged glances, while Rod and the others waited for an answer from them.

“What, is there a problem?” The Wolf King asked coldly upon seeing their hesitation to respond.

“What’s the point of going to the Source of Darkness? What position will we hold there?” Finally, one of the vampire princes couldn’t help but ask.

“The trolls have returned. You were originally under their rule, so returning now means returning under their leadership,” Rod said firmly, leaving no room for doubt.

“What about the continent?” Clearly still reluctant to leave the continent, the man continued to ask.

“The wars on the continent are no longer necessary. We will turn the Dark Duchy into a trade zone!” As for the matter of the demon souls, Rod had no intention of telling them—after all, it would be useless and only bring more trouble.

The news that the trolls had returned struck the crowd like a thunderbolt, sparking immediate discussion.

The trolls still existed? Hearing this, everyone looked at each other in shock, clearly unaware of this fact. Who could have imagined that the trolls would return after a thousand years? Originally, the trolls had been their protectors. Now that they were returning and taking control again seemed logical, but after a thousand years apart, it was hard for them to accept such subjugation.

“Hmph! Our vampires broke away from the trolls a thousand years ago. Over these years, we’ve suffered humiliation after humiliation. Have the trolls ever come to help us? Now that they’re back, they want us to return—this seems unreasonable!”

After a brief silence, opposition arose, voiced by one of the vampire princes.

His views clearly gained some support. Some people nodded slightly in agreement, while the rest also began to resist, seemingly unwilling to return under their rule.

The atmosphere turned cold, and Rod and the others frowned slightly. It seemed they had thought too simply—the trolls had been gone for a thousand years, and their influence was surely diminished now.

“What do you want?” Rod couldn’t help but ask in a deep voice.
“The Dark Principality was fought for by our vampires and werewolves with bloodshed. Now you demand that we hand over the entire Dark Principality just because of your words— we can’t do that!” The prince stood up angrily and shouted.
At the same time, a few people around him nodded in support; they were all from the thirteen vampire clans, holding half of the vampire forces, with a few already wavering.
Only a few who saw clearly the situation watched them with concern. This time, the Source of Darkness had sent such a powerful force—clearly aiming to reclaim their two clans. Was resistance really useful? Could their powerful opponents truly allow them to resist?
“So you refuse?” With a cold snort, the Dragon Emperor asked indifferently, an air of superiority emanating from him instantly, making it hard for others to breathe.
Everyone’s expression changed—the situation had become extremely serious!
“It’s not a problem for us vampires to return to the Source of Darkness, but the Dark Principality must belong to us. We’ll continue to live here. In that way, we can acknowledge our belonging to the Source of Darkness without submitting to any single clan!” The prince’s tone remained firm and unyielding; it seemed he was determined to fight to the end.
The atmosphere on both sides grew tense. The temperature in the room seemed to drop several degrees, reaching an icy level that made breathing difficult.
“Is there anyone else who objects?” The Wolf Emperor asked coldly, looking at the others.
His gaze was like a sharp knife, sweeping over each person’s face. His imposing aura made them avoid eye contact, afraid to breathe loudly under his pressure.
“Is that all?” Seeing that no one spoke, the Wolf Emperor asked with a sneer.
At that moment, the prince’s expression changed—he clearly hadn’t expected things to go this far. With no one supporting him, his face turned pale, showing signs of tension and anxiety.
“Any further opinions?” The Wolf Emperor looked at the prince again, his voice icy and laced with murderous intent.
“Our vampires cannot submit to the trolls! The Dark Principality is our home!” After hesitating briefly, his attitude remained firm, causing Rod and the others to frown. This stubborn man seemed like a real problem.

“Hmph, I’ll never agree to returning. There’s no need to continue discussing this!” With a cold snort, the prince left immediately, accompanied by his men, clearly unwilling to continue the talk.

Watching the group depart coldly, Rod and the Wolf King waited quietly, seeing who else shared the same attitude. Even as the prince was about to vanish from sight, no one moved. Though they were eager to act, they endured under the overwhelming pressure.

“So, it seems only he refuses to return?” With another cold snort, the Wolf King stood up abruptly. In the eyes of everyone in disbelief, he disappeared and reappeared at the door, blocking the prince’s path.

“If you refuse to return… then die. The Source of Darkness doesn’t need traitors!” A cold smile appeared on his lips as the Wolf King launched a lightning-fast attack, leaving no time for resistance.

The prince’s face was filled with horror. He tried to dodge, but it was too late—his body was torn in two by the Wolf King’s claws. A sharp tearing sound echoed in the air.

Splat…

Blood sprayed everywhere as his body was split in two, his eyes still filled with disbelief. He clearly couldn’t believe the Wolf King would dare attack him at such a moment.

The atmosphere in the room became oppressive, filled with gasps of shock. Everyone’s expressions turned extremely unnatural—they hadn’t expected the Wolf King to act suddenly, nor had they imagined the prince would be killed instantly without even a chance to fight back. After all, he was considered one of the best among his own group. If he was defeated so easily, what about the rest?

Everyone swallowed hard and fell silent.

“Now, I suppose no one has any objections!” Wiping his hands as if nothing had happened, the Wolf King returned to his seat and asked calmly.

Rod and the others exchanged glances, forced into bitter smiles. They hadn’t expected him to be so direct. His calm expression sent chills down everyone’s spines.

“Since no one objects, let’s discuss the matter of returning,” the Wolf King said slowly, seeing no response.

The remaining members of the vampires and wolves across nodded hurriedly, as if fearing any delay might result in punishment.
“This is simple: you wolves and vampires return to the Source of Darkness. As for whether you rejoin the trolls or not, we won’t interfere. The Source of Darkness is now stable. If needed, you can find your own place to settle down. Of course, it would be best if you could return to the trolls!” With that, the Wolf King glanced at Rod, clearly seeking his opinion.
“That’s right; the trolls don’t necessarily need you to return!” After thinking for a moment, Rod nodded in agreement. The Elder on his side also nodded in approval—the trolls no longer needed to be vassals of any clan.
This news left the vampires and wolves looking at each other in surprise. They clearly hadn’t expected such an outcome—no need to return, and no need to be vassals of any clan? This made everyone breathe a huge sigh of relief, their expressions improving significantly. They felt sorry for the prince who had opposed it because he refused to be a vassal. Last night, it was decided that they could return to the Source of Darkness, but they must have their own territory and not be vassals of any clan. Meanwhile, the Dark Duchy would provide them with a place. That was all—they had no choice; the other side was far too powerful, and this was the best they could achieve.
That prince had been too impatient; otherwise, he wouldn’t have lost his life despite proper negotiations, which was truly regrettable.
“What about the Dark Duchy?” asked a wolf clan leader cautiously.
“It can remain yours, but you can’t station a large army there. We’ll only leave three thousand soldiers here. You wolves and vampires will account for one thousand five hundred, while the other one thousand five hundred will be provided by our clans. How does that sound?” Rod put forward his conditions.
“No problem!” the wolves and vampires replied promptly. Clearly, these conditions exceeded their expectations. In this way, half of the Dark Duchy still belonged to them, and with the protection of the Source of Darkness, it was far safer than before.
“Then it’s settled. Organize your people, select those who will stay, and the rest should return to the Source of Darkness as soon as possible. You can choose between the four major cities or the Ten Thousand Mountains. The only requirement is simple: don’t cause trouble, do your duty well, and work together to develop the Source of Darkness!” Rod agreed readily.

After so many twists and turns, who would have thought that the meeting, which seemed destined to be extremely difficult, would end in such an atmosphere? It’s impossible not to feel deeply moved! Who expected it to end like this.
