Chapter 86: The Black Dragon’s Pursuit
“Damn it! I’ll fight to the end!” Seeing the path ahead blocked, and realizing that this ultimate magic could not be broken so easily, he quickly grabbed the colorful colored glass piece he had previously refused to discard, along with a thunder-type magical beast core, and threw them into his magic bag. With the black dragon going wild, he drew out the Dark Dragon Sword!
A fierce Dragon Roar erupted, stirring up a violent wind. His figure flashed rapidly, leaving behind a trail of afterimages. Elements in the entire space rushed wildly toward Rod’s Dark Dragon Sword at that moment. The improved Dragon Roar was even more powerful than before. Sparks of fire-type combat energy, glowing like stars, shone brilliantly against the backdrop of dark combat energy.
A whirlwind hit, and the black dragon was already in front of him. The Dark Dragon Sword collided with it head-on!
With a deafening explosion, a visible wave spread out in all directions, bursting forth like something about to collapse. In an instant, the Dark Dragon Sword in Rod’s hand no longer seemed like a blade but had transformed into a terrifying dark dragon! It lunged at the giant dragon ahead with fierce claws and teeth, creating a vivid and terrifying illusion.
Dust filled the air wherever it passed. The hard trees were shattered like tofu scraps under the force of the wave. With loud crashes, the trees fell one after another, their cross-sections glowing brilliantly. Rocks also crashed loudly, and the already chaotic area became even more ruined due to the impact of this collision.
“Bang…” A tremendous force transmitted from the Dark Dragon Sword to his arm, sending him flying backward. He crashed heavily onto the magic barrier, causing another loud explosion! The immense force made the entire magic barrier tremble.
*Pfft…* His chest tightened, and a mouthful of blood burst out, splashing on the ground ahead. There was even some minced flesh mixed in—this was a sign of severe internal injuries!
If it were an ordinary person, this attack would have been fatal. But Rod had a strong physique and demonic bloodline, giving him an incredibly resilient body, allowing him to survive by sheer luck.
Even so, his face was pale, he felt dizzy, and was on the verge of losing consciousness!
He bit his tongue, using the pain to force himself to stay alert. Looking at the black dragon across from him, it seemed it hadn’t gained any advantage from this clash either. Its massive claw, which had clashed with his, was now covered in flying scales and blood, with its body reeling back several steps before it could barely stabilize.
Panting heavily, his eyes filled with disbelief—Rod’s single move had far exceeded his expectations! It was terrifyingly powerful. After all, the formidable defensive capabilities of a mid-tier divine dragon were well-known, yet it had still been torn apart like that. Moreover, the tremors within his body made him feel extremely uncomfortable.
Seeing this, Rod showed a slight satisfied smile. Being able to inflict such damage on the dragon with just one move satisfied him greatly. Even a divine-level warrior would likely find it difficult to achieve such a result with a single strike.
Rod knew clearly that the dragon’s condition explained such an outcome. On the other hand, it also demonstrated the power of the Dragon Roar. After improvement, by combining three moves and leveraging external elements, its strength could now rival even the full-power strikes of peak late-stage saint-level or quasi-divine-level warriors! Combined with the sharpness of the Dark Dragon, it was even more formidable. It was the combined effect of these two factors that led to such results!
“Roar… Damn humans! Unforgivable! How dare you harm the great Sognar! Today, I’ll use your blood to atone for my humiliation!” It took a moment for Sognar to recover from his shock. Feeling the intense pain from his wounds, he roared in indignation, filled with rage.
“Hmph, if you’ve got the guts, come at me! If I can hurt you once, I can do it again!” With a cold gaze, Rod snarled. He couldn’t allow his momentum to wane, or else it would only make this guy more arrogant!
Rod was well aware of the current situation. He was severely injured, his combat strength greatly reduced, and he could hardly do much. While the dragon was also injured, such wounds had little impact on it. With advantages and disadvantages balancing each other, he was in extreme danger! He could only rely on his momentum to counter the dragon’s fury. At this point, Rod had placed most of his hopes on Fen Tian, hoping it could hold out a little longer to buy him some time to breathe.
Howl… As expected, sensing Rod’s thoughts, Fen Tian let out a furious roar as magic filled the air. It rushed forward without hesitation, closing in on Sognar to engage in close combat!
In an instant, the roar was incessant; the situation was extremely perilous. The disparity in strength forced him to retreat step by step. In less than a moment, he was already covered in wounds, and his weakening energy caused his glow to dim gradually!
“Hmph, damn reptile, a disgrace to my dragon clan! Today, the great Sogna will help you evolve your soul and make you part of me, Sogna. I’ll show you what true dragon might looks like!” Besieged by Fen Tian, the black dragon Sogna was also furious. It spat out a blast of dragon breath, followed by a low-level dragon speech magic that was as powerful as an ultimate magic. The roaring spell dealt massive damage to Fen Tian.
A hint of excitement appeared on his lips as the black dragon opened its mouth and lunged at Fen Tian, seemingly intent on swallowing him whole.
Rod’s eyes narrowed sharply in horror. It seemed that devouring Fen Tian would bring tremendous benefits to this black dragon. If things continued like this, Fen Tian would keep retreating, and being devoured was only a matter of time. He couldn’t allow that to happen.
Taking a deep breath and enduring the intense pain, he slowly gathered the energy from the vortex in his dantian, recklessly absorbing external elements!
Slowly rising, surrounded by abundant elements, black and red lights flickered around him, forming a small vortex. His eyes were no longer completely black but had turned an eerie black and red. Intense anger and a survival instinct filled his mind!
Raising the Dark Dragon, he spat out more blood and sprinkled it on the dragon, causing its dark light to flare brilliantly!
“Dragon Roar!”
The Dragon Roar Sword was used once again in a final attempt, hoping to drive back the black dragon. His previous observations had shown Rod that as long as the black dragon was struck, its defensive barrier would weaken. If he could deliver enough blows, he could surely break through that barrier and gain a chance to escape. Otherwise, fighting like a trapped beast here meant certain death! With a last-ditch effort, Rod launched his final attack.
His figure flashed as the Autumn Wind Sword, Heaven-Shattering Sword, and Shadowless Sword were perfectly fused together, appearing seamless and flawless. For the first time, Rod felt he could use this move so smoothly and perfectly, bringing it to such an extreme level. The energy contained within it was terrifying!
At this moment, the Dark Dragon acted like a black hole, endlessly absorbing energy from all around, creating swirling winds.
The situation here filled Black Dragon Sognar, who was fighting ahead, with shock. Turning his head, he saw Rod’s appearance and his expression changed drastically, showing panic for the first time! He could sense the terrifying power contained in this move—for the first time, he felt a threat and danger from this human, even more terrifying than the previous move! Abandoning his pursuit of Fen Tian, he focused on Rod, feeling the power of this move continuing to surge. This time, the Black Dragon was in a state of panic! “Wretched human, you must not succeed! Absolutely not!” His eyes turned red. As one of the finest members of the dragon race, he had never encountered such a humiliating situation, especially in front of a wretched human. Fueled by anger, the Black Dragon roared loudly and charged at Rod. “I’ll go all out!” Under the onslaught of immense energy, Rod felt weak, his meridians being torn apart. If not for their strength, they might have burst at this point. Struggling against the intense energy, his body faced an unprecedented test, with blood seeping out through his pores, indicating he had reached a critical limit! At this moment, the Dark Dragon seemed to be out of his control, frantically absorbing energy, while he merely acted instinctively. The Black Dragon was getting closer and closer, already in front of him—now was the time! He instinctively swung a sword, but it seemed feeble! Yet, this single sword triggered a violent upheaval in the world, drawing the attention of several powerful forces in the vast forest. Sensing such energy, the owners of those forces were filled with shock. Boom… The seemingly slow sword finally struck Black Dragon Sognar’s body. A deafening explosion erupted, and a blinding light burst from the point of impact, illuminating the area brilliantly. Strong winds blew sand and stones everywhere! The figures of the two disappeared from Fen Tian’s sight. Boom… With a loud noise, the defensive barrier shattered. Elements from the world continued to flow into the Dark Dragon in Rod’s hands, its power growing stronger, with blood drifting away in the swirling wind. Boom… Like a thunderclap, another burst of thunder followed, sending the two figures flying in opposite directions—one huge, the other tiny. The fierce winds obscured the vision of many magical beasts watching from the shadows.
“Damn it! Fen Tian, go!” Swallowing the blood about to spill, a weak voice was heard! The next moment, Fen Tian appeared beside that figure, ignoring everything else, and dragged them away at top speed toward the distance.
