Chapter 247: Space Mage

“That magic stone just now?” Rod asked doubtfully, looking at the woman. He had seen mages of water magic, earth magic, as well as fire, lightning, and wind magic, but this space magic—of which he had barely heard of—was something entirely new. To think he had actually witnessed a space magic stone in action! And it was used by an enemy to escape his sight.
“It’s a magic stone for level six space magic—Space Transfer! Although its level isn’t high, mastering it is quite difficult. I never expected anyone to be able to turn it into a magic stone. That guy must have obtained it! It seems he’s already escaped far away. We can’t reach him!” Hearing Rod’s words and thinking of the magic stone used by that man when he fled, the woman gritted her teeth in anger. She refused to let that bastard get away so easily!
“Space mages are rare?” Rod was also troubled by that man’s escape, but at that moment, he focused more on space magic. The level six space magic, Space Transfer, had piqued his great interest! If he could have such a thing, wouldn’t he no longer need to worry about being pursued? At the same time, he was concerned—if a single magic stone was already so powerful, what if a space mage stood before him? With that magic under control, no one could capture him!
“Very rare. There are few space mages across the entire continent. They can be considered a rare breed among mages. Though few in number, they are all extremely powerful. Any space mage can be regarded as a strong warrior and is a target for any country to recruit! Unfortunately, space mages tend to be reclusive, so few countries can persuade them to serve them! By the way, do you know the eight greatest warriors on the continent? The eight divine-level warriors—undoubtedly the peak existences. But few people know that there are actually two others who can compete with these eight divine-level warriors, if not surpass them!”

One is the pope of the Church of Light, whose strength is said to have even surpassed the divine level. The other is one of the top spatial mages in the continent; it is said that ten years ago he had already reached a quasi-divine level. Even at that time, his strength was sufficient to rival divine-level warriors. No one knows what level he has reached now, ten years later. You can imagine just how powerful they are.

However, creating spatial magic stones is far more difficult than creating other types of magic stones—at least twice as difficult. Even fewer mages are capable of creating spatial magic stones, accounting for only a tiny fraction of all spatial mages. Hmph, I think it’s very likely that this sixth-level mage is the one who made it.” As she introduced the power of spatial mages to Rod, the woman made a judgment with a resentful expression, roughly guessing the origin of the magic stone.

Hearing this, Rod’s mouth fell open in disbelief. Spatial mages—a rare group—were actually this powerful? Instantly, he developed a great interest in them.

“You… you’re fine now, right?” Only after everything settled did he notice that the woman in front of him was dressed in tattered clothes, revealing her fair skin, as white as milk, so smooth it seemed to glisten. Rod was a man, and a quite normal one at that. How could he remain unshaken by such a sight at his age? He swallowed hard, forcing himself to look away and spoke to her.

“Ah…” It seemed the woman had only just realized her own situation. At Rod’s reminder, she let out a scream, quickly covering her chest with her hands and crouching on the ground, her face turning red with shame.

“I… I’m fine. Can… can you do me a favor?” After taking a few deep breaths to calm herself, the woman spoke to Rod in a shy whisper.

“What kind of favor?” Rod frowned, really unable to think of anything he could do to help her at this point.

“C… could you lend me a piece of clothing? I… I can’t get out! I’m sorry to bother you!” She pleaded, looking at Rod with a hint of nervousness and urgency.

With a sigh, he realized it was this matter. The weather was already hot, and she was only wearing one piece of clothing—what could he give her to wear? Yet, seeing her pitiful expression, he felt too embarrassed to refuse on the spot. After all, she was a woman, and it wouldn’t be good for her to go out in that state. After hesitating for a moment, he finally couldn’t bear her pleading gaze. With another sigh, Rod took off his shirt and handed it to her.

Seeing his action, a triumphant smile appeared on her face. But when she took his shirt and saw his well-defined muscles, sharp lines, and faint scars, her face turned red uncontrollably. Holding the shirt and feeling its residual warmth, her face turned even redder, her heartbeat accelerating as if a deer was pounding inside her chest.

“You… turn around!” she pleaded in a shy tone, not daring to look directly at him.

With another sigh, Rod was completely speechless about this woman. It was the first time he’d encountered such a troublesome person who even wanted him to turn around. What could she possibly see if he didn’t? Besides, she had already stared at him for quite a while. Turning around now felt like taking off one’s pants to fart.

“Okay… fine…” A voice from behind made Rod turn around.

What he saw made him pause slightly. Under the moonlight, he noticed that the woman had delicate features and a cute, petite appearance that made him want to hold her in his arms. Her big eyes blinked at him from time to time, appearing innocent and pure. Her small frame seemed fragile, yet his shirt covered her hips just right, highlighting her natural beauty with the loose fabric.

“You… what’s wrong?” she asked softly, embarrassed as the man stared at her intently, making her blush again.

“Nothing… nothing at all! Let’s just go. It’s getting late; it’s not good to stay here!” Realizing his actions and strange behavior had been noticed, Rod also blushed and quickly lowered his head, avoiding her eyes as he spoke. Then he turned and headed outside.

Seeing Rod’s sudden strange behavior, the woman secretly smirked. As if her scheme had succeeded, she puffed out her chest and hurried after him, showing no sign of having just escaped danger.

“Hmm, why are you not talking?” She ran lightly over to Rod and, seeing his serious expression, couldn’t help but ask in confusion. Along the way, she had noticed that the man no longer spoke to her at all, which made her feel a bit lost—she wasn’t used to such loneliness.
“Ah, right, I still haven’t told you my name. I’m Shirley. What’s your name? You saved me today—so I owe you one. I’ll repay you when I get the chance. My grandfather is… well, he’s really powerful. Maybe he can help you in the future. How about that?” She fluttered around Rod like a little oriole, chirping nonstop, which made Rod smile wryly.
“Alright, go back. It’s getting late, and I should leave too. Maybe we’ll meet again someday!” Taking a deep breath, Rod stood at the edge of the training ground, feeling the cool breeze, and spoke softly. Before they knew it, they had stepped out of the grove and onto the training ground.
“But… hey, don’t go! Wait for me! Don’t leave!” It was only then that Shirley realized they had left the grove without realizing it. Looking at the empty training ground, by the time she reacted, Rod was already walking ahead alone. Panicked, she hurriedly called after him.
“If you don’t want to face more danger, keep chasing after me. I can’t guarantee nothing else will happen! You’d better go back right now!” With a cold tone, Rod turned to look at her and said indifferently.
There was no time to waste on her anymore. He had originally planned to check out Camp 14, but that was no longer possible. He didn’t want to waste any more time on this inexperienced kid.
“You… you… you…” Hearing Rod’s words, she opened her mouth several times, trying to speak but failing. Watching Rod walk farther away, Shirley stomped her foot in frustration and muttered resentfully.
“Hmph… What’s so great about him? If he doesn’t want to talk, fine! Why get angry? I don’t even want to deal with you! I’m going back!” With a resentful tone, she turned and walked back, heading straight for Camp 14!

Feeling the woman behind him turn and leave, Rod finally breathed a sigh of relief and smiled slightly—finally free of that troublesome person! He didn’t want to get involved with such folks. This woman’s background was clearly complex; even from her strength as a great mage, it was evident that she was pampered, like a flower grown in a greenhouse. Her personality and appearance made it clear she had been spoiled. Moreover, her knowledge of things that most people couldn’t know and her awareness of matters she shouldn’t understand allowed Rod to conclude that someone was constantly taking care of her. Rod didn’t want anything to do with such a person!
