Chapter 191: Are You Angry?
“Wait, why the rush?” Rod turned to look at Kiro and said calmly. He was in high spirits—how could he possibly consider giving up now?
Turning back, he saw the others staring at him with wide eyes, waiting for him to show anger, their fists clenched tightly. He touched his chin and said, “What, are you upset? You want revenge, right? Tsk tsk tsk… Your face is already swollen—must be painful!”
Looking at the city guard closest to him, Rod stepped forward and asked softly, a mischievous smile on his face, reaching out to touch the soldier’s face.
Thinking the demon before him was about to strike again, the soldier, fearing his officer was still in the other’s hands, fearfully closed his eyes.
“Heh, what’s there to fear? I’m not hitting you. Do you think I’m like you?” After waiting for a long time without feeling any pain, the soldier felt a hand touch his face. Then he heard the demon speak softly. Unable to resist, he opened his eyes and stared at Rod in disbelief. He had no idea what the demon intended.
Not only could he not see clearly, but neither Kiro nor the onlookers could figure out what Rod was up to.
“Is it painful?” Rod narrowed his eyes and asked the soldier softly again.
“What… what do you really want…?” The situation left these city guards heartbroken. The demon’s actions and words left them at a loss, feeling utterly confused and desperate. At this point, they would have preferred the demon to attack them rather than face this situation!
Mental torment is always more severe and cruel than physical pain.
“Heh, what can I do? Tsk tsk tsk, is it painful? Was I too hard just now?” Rod continued to stare at the soldier and asked softly. His tone seemed strange and oppressive.
“What do you want? Just do it already! Hmph, stop playing games!” Finally, one of the soldiers couldn’t hold back and shouted loudly, his voice trembling with tears. He didn’t want to go on like this anymore. His damned friends still hadn’t arrived, filling him with despair.
“Slap…” The moment he finished speaking, Rod disappeared, like a gust of wind. Then another sharp slap was heard, followed by the soldier’s muffled groan.
“I didn’t ask you. Stay back and be quiet!” Rod ordered coldly, staring at the soldier.
“You…” Faced with Rod’s sudden change, the soldier opened his mouth but couldn’t say a word. What could he say when he had invited this punishment?
“Tell me, isn’t it annoying and painful?” Rod asked in a low voice, gripping another soldier.
“Hurry up and speak! Don’t test my patience!” Seeing that the soldier remained silent, Rod tightened his grip on his shoulder and pressed further, his expression darkening even more. With a crack from the soldier’s shoulder, it was clear Rod was using considerable force. Even just looking at the soldier’s contorted face, one could tell how much pain he was in.
“No… it’s not, really not. Please, spare us! We really dare not!” Finally, unable to bear the pain and the demon-like expression before him, the soldier cried out in a trembling voice, pleading weakly.
“Heh, is it because you dare not or because it really isn’t? It doesn’t matter. Since you say it’s not, it seems I haven’t given you enough of a lesson. Don’t you think? Since you seem to enjoy this feeling, not feeling any pain or annoyance at all, I guess I’ll just fulfill your wish and give you more ‘pleasure’?” After hearing the soldier’s reply, Rod muttered to himself, releasing his grip on the soldier’s shoulder. Then, his next words turned the soldier’s face deathly pale!
Before the soldier could say anything, there was a loud thud—as he was flung backward in a parabolic arc. In an instant, Rod kicked him away.
Watching the soldier crash to the ground, writhing in pain, trembling, and crying out, with a trickle of blood at the corner of his mouth, Rod smiled in satisfaction.
As for the other soldiers watching from the side, their faces turned pale instantly. They feared it would be their turn next.
Obviously, fear was useless, because at that moment, Rod had already approached another soldier and asked the same question in a deep voice.
“I… I…” He opened his mouth, but the soldier, with a trembling voice, didn’t know how to respond. His eyes reddened slightly. In all the time he had been part of the city guard, he had never encountered such a situation, nor had he ever seen such a demon since he became aware of the world. He didn’t know what to do. He originally wanted to say no too, but his previous teammate had instilled deep fear in him—he already knew what would happen if he gave that answer.
“Speak!” Rod narrowed his eyes and leaned forward slightly, bringing his face close to the soldier’s as he asked coldly.
“Yes, I am! I’m furious! You hurt me badly just now!” Finally, under immense pressure, his mind collapsed. Tears streamed down his face as he cried out in response. Since his comrades had received kind words and favorable outcomes only to face such consequences, he could only do the opposite—if he wanted any chance of survival.
“Heh, not bad. You’re being honest. Furious! So you hate me? That’s troublesome. Having someone who hates me in this world will bring me a lot of trouble!” Unexpectedly, Rod seemed to think he would stop there, but his next words terrified everyone even more. In an instant, the soldier’s face turned ashen, as if the end of the world had arrived.
“I… stop hitting me, I… I…” Soon, his pleas for mercy could be heard.
Bang. With another dull sound, the soldier flew backward at high speed, crashing beside the previous soldier. Blood sprayed from his mouth as he lost consciousness. Finally, through unconsciousness, he found relief, a faint smile on his lips—showing just how happy such relief made him.
“You answer!” Seemingly uninterested in giving up, Rod found another soldier to question.
At this point, the remaining four or five soldiers’ legs began to tremble uncontrollably; they could no longer stand. Under Rod’s loud commands, they collapsed to the ground, trembling violently, their faces pale as they stared at Rod with utter terror.
Obviously, there were only two answers to this question. They had already seen what happened to the two who answered it. How could they not understand? Clearly, this demon was just playing around with them, with no intention of sparing them. No matter what they said, it would end badly.
“Rod, enough! Stop it!” Finally, Kiro, unable to bear it any longer, stepped forward to stop Rod.
“Captain… enough… let’s go back to the academy quickly. There are still things to deal with!” Kenny also stepped forward to persuade him.
Although he despised these city guards, seeing them in such a pitiful state made him feel a hint of pity. After all, people are made of flesh, and since they had never had any dealings with these city guards, there was no need to harbor such intense hatred.
Seeing these two step in to stop them, the soldiers regarded them as if an angel of light had appeared. If it weren’t for the fact that these two were with that demon, they would surely have seen them as saviors.
“No need to rush. Those guys won’t come after us today. Don’t worry!” Rod said calmly, pushing Kiro away as he pulled at his arm.
These city guards usually bullied the weak and feared the strong. Had they ever understood the fear and terror of those they oppressed? Since they didn’t, he would make them experience it firsthand—only then would they realize just how wrong they had been. That was why Rod acted in this way.
“Kill him! He won’t let us go! Fight to the death!” Under Rod’s pressure, the soldiers finally couldn’t hold back. Someone shouted first, and soon the rest joined in. The four soldiers who remained stood together and charged at Rod, their faces twisted in a fierce determination, ready to die.
“Hmph. Overreaching fools seeking death!” With a cold snort, Rod smirked and muttered to himself. At that moment, the officer’s terrified screams came from behind him. His own soldiers had done such a thing—he didn’t know how that demon would punish him. For his own safety, he hated his subordinates fiercely, wishing he could devour those damned men.
“Ding ding ding…” Under everyone’s gaze, Rod gently shook his arms, moving swiftly from side to side like a flowing cloud. A series of sharp clashing sounds erupted! Flames flashed, and several silver-white figures flew into the sky before crashing to the ground.
Rod sneered disdainfully at the few guys across from him who were holding sword handles. He took pleasure in their deathly pale faces and expressions of shock and surprise. Indeed, he hadn’t killed them. Just moments ago, he had moved swiftly—not killing them but instead cutting off their weapons outright, relying on his formidable strength and the sharpness of the Dark Dragon. With ease, he broke all of their weapons in an instant, leaving only sword handles in their hands.
