Volume 4: Hidden Struggles, Chapter 265: Letting the Wolf Eat the Sheep
After speaking, Chu Tianyu still held Gu Yu’s hand tightly, looking at Qin Nianran and Ouyang Ziyi with an expression as if they had something important to discuss.
Chu Tianyu’s gesture left Gu Yu feeling flattered. She had originally planned to greet Ouyang Ziyi, as they were from the same school, and she had even tried to pursue her before—though unsuccessfully. Still, it was better than being strangers. But now, with Chu Tianyu pulling her and speaking to her, her attention naturally shifted to him.
Qin Nianran and Ouyang Ziyi were well aware of Chu Tianyu’s obviously forced behavior, but they didn’t intend to delve deeper. Everything that needed to be said or joked about had already been expressed in their earlier seemingly casual conversation.
Since someone had come to talk to Chu Tianyu, they stopped teasing him on this topic, giving him some space for a private conversation before turning back to the enthusiastic crowd.
In fact, Qin Nianran and Ouyang Ziyi were merely curious about the incident itself. As for Chu Tianyu’s emotional matters, given his usual behavior and self-control, they were quite at ease. As for the awkwardness he showed now, they didn’t think he was pressured by their words or guilty of anything. In their view, his expression and actions were simply a way of playing along with their jokes.
Although Chu Tianyu already had four beauties around him, in Qin Nianran and Ouyang Ziyi’s eyes, he wasn’t really the kind of playboy who fell in love with every woman he met. The reason they stayed with him was due to various factors. Though it seemed like they were giving him an advantage by allowing him to enjoy multiple relationships, Chu Tianyu himself hadn’t deliberately pursued such things.
But clearly, they were wrong—bigly wrong!
They never expected Chu Tianyu to meet Ao Xue, a woman with a naturally alluring presence. Moreover, they met under circumstances of close proximity and skin-to-skin contact. Despite Chu Tianyu’s high skills and the presence of Black Dragon energy within him, he didn’t immediately fall under her spell. Yet, this immense temptation had seeped deep into his mind, as evidenced by the frequent appearance of Xue’s image in his thoughts over the following days.
And he also said to Chu Tianyu that such subtle influence was actually more deadly and concealed. This was evident in his attitude toward Xue Ning’er later on, as well as in the sense of boundless romance that arose when the four girls were together that night—it was all a reaction to some kind of temptation and desire within him…
So, by letting this matter go easily this time, without delving deeper into what exactly had happened between Chu Tianyu and Ao Xue, Qin Nianran and Ouyang Ziyi actually made a mistake by leaving things unchecked!
Watching Qin Nianran and Ouyang Ziyi leave temporarily, Chu Tianyu finally let out a long sigh. Noticing Gu Yu’s confused expression, he smiled sheepishly and said, “Classmate Gu, did you come to see me for something?”
At these words, Gu Yu almost choked—so all of Chu Tianyu’s enthusiastic remarks earlier had been for nothing!
Chu Tianyu also realized this and chuckled self-mockingly, tapping his head lightly. “Look at my brain! You came to talk to me about something. I’m really sorry—my mind was a bit ‘chaotic’ just now. Apologies!”
Faced with Chu Tianyu’s honesty, and considering his earlier “enthusiastic” behavior, Gu Yu felt that his visit might indeed be disturbing something.
However, Gu Yu quickly adjusted his mood. Thanks to his upbringing in a small family and the training he had received, he had excellent skills at handling awkward situations or unexpected events.
With a gentle smile, he didn’t dwell too much on this issue but instead said, “Brother Chu, it’s better if you call me Gu Yu or Brother Gu. As far as I know, although we were born in the same year, I was born a few months later.”
“Hehe, okay. Brother Gu, if you have something to say, go ahead!” Chu Tianyu, unfazed, adjusted his mood and asked directly. After all, his thoughts were entirely on Ao Xue and Ning Shuang at that moment.
But Chu Tianyu’s thoughts weren’t selfish at all. Given the identities and backgrounds of Ao Xue and her sister, this accidental encounter was exactly a breakthrough to unravel many mysteries for him. Moreover, he had a strong premonition that even if he didn’t go after them, they would come to him themselves, especially Ao Xue…
After hearing this, Gu Yu didn’t notice any change in Chu Tianyu. He merely raised his eyebrows slightly, first weighing Chu Tianyu’s words in his mind. From the tone, it seemed Chu Tianyu wasn’t just being polite casually but seemed to have some urgent matter to attend to. Judging by his expression, his mind wasn’t on him either.
With this judgment, Gu Yu immediately made a comparison in his mind, abandoned the prepared speech, and got straight to the point: “Brother Chu, I’ve come this time mainly to talk to you about your elder brother, Chu Tianfeng. I was wondering if we could go somewhere quieter?” At these words, Gu Yu stepped aside, leading Chu Tianyu further into a secluded area.
Ever since Gu Yu spoke those words, Chu Tianyu had already focused his thoughts, trying to figure out his purpose. “Clearly, the fact that he chose this moment to approach me means something unusual is at hand. After all, Feifei and Ning’er’s performance is at its climax now—the entire hall is filled with music, and beautiful melodies resonate in everyone’s heart. It’s rare for anyone to think about chatting or doing anything else at such a time, unless they have ulterior motives, like Gu Yu…”
In an instant, Chu Tianyu grasped the key to the matter. He stopped in his tracks, said nothing, and simply stared at Gu Yu, ready to listen attentively.
Facing Chu Tianyu’s steady gaze, Gu Yu slowly said, “Brother Chu, I had prepared a long speech to explain my purpose, but just now, I suddenly realized it was completely unnecessary!”
“Oh, is that so?” Chu Tianyu replied calmly.
Gu Yu nodded firmly. “Of course. I don’t know why, but from the first time I met you, I had a very strange feeling. Although I had biases against you back then because of Ouyang Ziyi, those biases faded over time, giving me a more objective perspective…” He paused before continuing, “It was a sense of profundity—a wisdom akin to that of a sage. It felt as though I wasn’t facing a rival, but a mountain, a towering peak that I would always have to look up to! I remember Zhan Zifeng, Zhou Chongyun, and I searched for you together, but now only I am left. Though I don’t know what happened to them, and the school keeps it a secret, one thing is clear: I was the one who chose to back out. Facts have proven that my decision was the best one!”
As Gu Yu spoke, Chu Tianyu showed no emotional reaction. Instead, he smiled slightly and said, “Brother Gu, if I follow your logic, does that mean Zhan Zifeng and Zhou Chongyun’s deaths were caused by my jealousy?”
Gu Yu smiled and shook his head, saying, “I believe with Brother Chu’s wisdom, he can understand what I mean. In fact, no matter what’s going on with those two and whether it has anything to do with Brother Chu, I’m acting purely on intuition—that if anyone tries to compete with Brother Chu for something, their outcome will surely be tragic!”
“So that’s why you came today!” Chu Tianyu said abruptly after hearing this.
“Yes, I came! Because your elder brother approached us some time ago, to be precise, our Gu Corporation! He asked us to cooperate, offering generous terms, and he negotiated with us as a decision-maker of the Chu Group…” Gu Yu said without reservation.
Faced with Gu Yu’s revelation, Chu Tianyu didn’t ask for more details or inquire about the nature of their cooperation. Instead, he suddenly changed the subject and said, “Brother Gu, don’t you think it’s a bit rash of you to come here based solely on your intuition about me?”
Gu Yu calmly looked at Chu Tianyu and replied, “Brother Chu might not know that I have a special ability—sharp intuition. When I was young, my grandfather used my intuition to make huge profits in the stock market, amassing 1.7 billion. I was only five at the time. But as I grew older, this ability gradually faded…”
Before Gu Yu could finish, Chu Tianyu interjected with a smile, “But it’s enough to ‘intuit’ me a bit, right?”
Gu Yu also smiled knowingly and said, “More or less. But to be thorough, we gathered a lot of information, carefully analyzed it, compared it, and made bold assumptions!”
With that, it was clear that they had made this decision after careful consideration.
Hearing this, Chu Tianyu spread his hands and said, “So, Brother Gu, what do you need me to do this time?”
“To be honest with you, Brother Chu, our Gu Corporation has already officially cooperated with your elder brother. But the basis of this cooperation isn’t satisfactory, as we were forced to do so under pressure from overwhelming force—even our family’s protectors can’t match them in a single move. We came to see you for two reasons: first, intuition, and second, after learning about Old Master Chu’s decision to temporarily split the Chu Group into two for fair competition. In such a situation, we decided to take a risky approach, hoping to find another way to cooperate with you—or even what could be called a way out!” Gu Yu said in one breath.
In fact, by the time Gu Yu finished speaking, Chu Tianyu already understood everything. It seemed that the expansion of power by his elder brother and Lord Qin was gradually shifting from secrecy to openness, targeting ordinary wealthy families and enterprises. With their methods and strength, if they decided to disrupt the world, not only would the business sector be affected, but the entire structure of society would change. As one of their pawns, his elder brother might still be indulged in the joy of his growing business power, blinded by it and unaware of the terrible consequences he would bring…
“What is the true purpose of that force? Money? Power? Or…?” Chu Tianyu began to ponder.
Just then, a familiar voice suddenly rang in Chu Tianyu’s ears: “Oh, so your name is Chu Tianyu. By the way, my dear Third Young Master Chu, are you free now?”
