Chapter 55: The Burning Starry Sky, Section 1
Massacre—a complete and utter massacre!!
If the Han tribe’s attack earlier could still be considered a battle, then the appearance of the Blood Wolf Storm Raiders at this moment was nothing short of a massacre. After Skasaha issued the order to retreat, the Moor fleet had completely lost its fighting spirit. Faced with the assault of nearly a hundred Storm Raiders, they were unable to even perform the most basic evasive maneuvers.
Amidst the roaring sounds, one after another of the Moor giants were shattered to pieces. Just like those Nomi warships before. It was only then that the Moor warriors realized they were not much superior to that vassal tribe. Confronted with forces stronger than their own, they were equally helpless and weak.
Half an hour. That was the time it took for the Moor fleet to be destroyed. During these half an hour, despite the remaining Moor warships making every effort possible, they still could not change the inevitable outcome. A hundred Storm Raiders might not seem many, but after replenishing sufficient energy and replacing their external armor, they were deadly enough!
Skasaha’s command ship was destroyed at the last moment. By then, his fleet had already largely disintegrated, with only a few frigates left struggling to survive. Extremely panicked, Skasaha desperately tried to escape, but to no avail. In despair, he realized that while they were being ravaged by those terrifying triangular warships, the periphery of their fleet was already tightly surrounded by countless “tattered warships.” Like a group of cold-blooded onlookers, they watched him march toward death. Despair slowly crept into his heart. Three minutes later, Skasaha’s command ship was shattered to pieces under the combined assault of five Storm Raiders. This young commander never discovered the reason for his failure even in death.
A battle ended so cleanly. Yet when cleaning up the battlefield afterward, no one could feel happy.
The Blood Wolves paid an extremely high price.
Nearly a hundred Thunderbolt Assault Ships were destroyed. And that was just the material loss. It wasn’t much compared to the Death Star’s resources. But the loss of the Blood Wolf warriors aboard those ships was truly heartbreaking. Although technology in this era had advanced to a point where human life was prioritized, with complete life-saving measures on every warship, it wasn’t a panacea after all. In fierce fleet battles, a single accidental blast could lead to the death of hundreds or even thousands of people. Sudden energy jets couldn’t be stopped by life-saving devices. So this time, the Blood Wolves lost tens of thousands of warriors alone!!
Tens of thousands!! Since Blackhair took charge of the Blood Wolves, this had never been such a massive loss! The thought of those once vibrant warriors walking toward death inside those iron coffins of warships made Protector Sje’s face twist in anguish. He could already imagine how furious Blackhair would be upon hearing this news. But for now, he had to deal with the aftermath.
There were still many Nomis on the Death Star, wreaking havoc. He had initiated the fleet battle to wipe them out completely, aiming to cut off their escape routes. Though the battle had turned out differently than expected, costing the Blood Wolves dearly, it was time to settle the score.
Protector Sje had made up his mind: not a single Nomi on the Death Star would survive!!
Moreover, after killing these creatures, he would organize an expedition fleet to erase all traces of the Nomis in the universe, showing every being lurking around the Death Star what consequences came from offending the Blood Wolves.
By this point, Protector Sje no longer cared whether he would face Blackhair’s wrath. All that mattered was making the enemy pay. To give peace to his fallen comrades, he threw his own future aside. For this purpose, he even went straight to the leader of the Han clan—Jie!
“I need a fleet of sufficient size,” Protector Sje said straight to the point in the massive fortress-like warship of the Han clan leader. In the ship’s hall, he saw many young and strong Han clan members, their faces filled with joyful smiles, as if they hadn’t participated in the battle at all. Their smiles were genuine.
This was the Han clan—a race that lived for battle. If it were Sje himself, he would never have imagined a race so obsessed with fighting, able to remain so happy even after suffering such heavy losses.
There’s no doubt—Sijie had already checked before coming. The Han clan paid a price in this battle no less than the Blood Wolves. Moreover, due to the inferiority of their warships, the Han clan had almost no survival devices, resulting in a much higher loss rate than the Blood Wolves. In just half an hour of fighting, they lost over a thousand warships!!
With a minimum of a hundred people per warship, the Han clan paid at least ten thousand lives as a cost. And Sijie knew that their ancient-style warships couldn’t possibly be operated by just a hundred people—each warship likely required at least five hundred to a thousand crew members!!
So when Sijie said these words, he was quite uncertain. He didn’t know if the other party would agree. After all, they had already paid an enormous price for the Death Star.
But he never expected Jie’s reaction to be completely different from what he had thought.
“How many is enough? Are there more battles to fight? It doesn’t matter. You’re a subordinate of Blackhair, which means you’re my brother. Just speak up! Tell me how many you need!”
“Uh…” Sijie, the head guard, was stunned. Looking at Jie’s massive frame, like that of a grizzly bear, he was speechless.
Did this leader never consider the lives of his subordinates at all?
“Well, if it’s those arrow ships from earlier, a thousand should be enough. My target this time is the Nomi clan. So I need someone to watch over the Death Star. A thousand arrow ships should be sufficient to accomplish this task.”
“What!? You want to take on the Nomi clan and ask me to watch over it?” Jie was shocked and shook his head vigorously.
“No, no. Our Han clan won’t do that. Watching over something is so boring—there’s no gain. Even if I agreed, my subordinates wouldn’t agree.”
“So what do you mean…” Sijie’s eyes lit up. He seemed to understand the Han clan’s mindset.
“I’ll go deal with the Nomi clan. You can handle the watching over yourself. Give me their coordinates. I guarantee I’ll wipe them out completely.” Seeing Sijie’s confusion, Jie grinned viciously, his face twisted in rage. The leaders of the smaller nations behind him showed the same expression.
Now Sijie understood. Clearly, they didn’t care about sending people or not—they only cared about having battles and obtaining loot.
Realizing this, Sijie sighed in relief and also became resolute.
“Fine. I can give you the coordinates of the Nomi clan right away. But before that, you need to do one thing.”
“What’s the matter?” Jie was overjoyed upon hearing Guard Leader Sijie speak up and asked urgently.
“There are still many Nomi on Death Star, wreaking havoc. Originally, this should have been done by me alone. But since you all love fighting so much, let’s finish this task together. I have only one requirement: don’t spare a single one of them—make their lives worse than death!!”
“No problem. I love this kind of job!!” Hearing those words, Jie grinned widely and gave Guard Leader Sijie a firm pat on the shoulder.
“You’re smart, kid. When Mr. Blackhair returns, I’ll praise you heavily in front of him!! He’ll give you a super high-ranking position!! You’ll be so happy you won’t know what to do!!”
“As long as he doesn’t kill me,” Guard Leader Sijie replied with a bitter smile, enduring the severe pain in his shoulder.
Soon after, under his guidance, the Han clan’s fleet began landing on Death Star. The hatches of the dilapidated Arrowship vessels opened, and countless burly men armed with primitive firearms rushed out. Like a swarm of ants, they quickly covered the entire planet.
It had to be said that assigning the task of wiping out the Nomi to the Han clan was a truly cruel decision. These Han clan members, who never valued their own lives, valued those of their enemies even less. Upon seeing Nomi warriors, they rushed at them like leeches upon blood. Though clearly inferior in terms of weaponry, they were filled with fierce aggression. Their snarling faces resembled demons from hell, determined to devour their enemies whole.
Guard Leader Sijie witnessed firsthand a group of about thirty Nomi warriors who were accidentally trapped by the Han clan and were tortured for three whole hours. These brutal Han warriors used primitive methods to tear apart their outer armor and drag the people inside out, killing them slowly. Streams of bright red blood flowed across the ground like rivers. Amid the Nomi warriors’ agonized screams, the Han clan members laughed heartily.
This was no longer a cleanup operation. In the hands of the Han clan, it was a feast. They could use any means they could think of against their enemies without facing any criticism. There was no mercy, no humanity here. As long as the facilities on Death Star remained intact and the original inhabitants were safe, they could freely unleash their cruel creativity.
Similarly, the inhabitants of Death Star also witnessed firsthand the consequences of invading it. The painful screams of the Nommi were like needles piercing their hearts, making the alien residents revere the Blood Wolves even more.
The operation to clean up Death Star lasted a full day, and by evening the next day, the entire planet was once again at peace. All streets were spotless, not a speck of dust in sight. If it weren’t for the battles that had just taken place the previous day, almost everyone would have thought it was a dream.
The Han, having completed their mission, left Death Star with cruel smiles. In their hands, they played with a delicate card containing the coordinates of the Nommi.
Around them were countless Han warriors, their faces twisted in bloodthirsty grins.
