Chapter 54: The Ruined Hall, Section 7
Roaring flames and a chaotic crowd. Death Star was in utter turmoil at this moment. Countless alien creatures of bizarre shapes fled in panic through the streets, yet they could find no safe place. Behind them, giant humanoid figures resembling metal monsters rampaged, brandishing their arms and claws, with their thick gun barrels spewing deadly flames.
An octopus-like creature slowed down and was immediately caught up by a metal monster, which grabbed it and lifted it into the air. After a piercing scream, the octopus creature was torn in half. Bright red blood splattered everywhere, staining the terrified faces of those around it.
No one knew when these Nomis had arrived on Death Star. They appeared on this beautiful planet like ghosts. Overnight, everything changed. The once peaceful streets turned into slaughterhouses. The brutality of the Nomis terrified all other aliens.
To be honest, although there were many aliens on Death Star, not many were skilled in combat—only a handful at most. Unluckily, the most powerful of them, the Bacchanid race, was in breeding season. Aside from a few who followed Dark Lord on his campaigns, the rest hid deep underground in caves specially prepared for them by the Wanderers. So, most of those active on the planet’s surface were weak and defenseless aliens who had come to Death Star in search of a safe haven. How could they possibly confront such ferocious Nomis?
Chaos spread rapidly, covering the entire planet in just half an hour. The panicked aliens fled in all directions while praying anxiously that their guardian gods, the Blood Wolf Warriors, would appear in time to save them.
Unfortunately, after such a long time, not a single member of Death Star’s defense forces showed up. The giant warships took off into the sky and then seemed to disappear, with no further news. As time passed, despair gradually settled among the aliens.
Had the once invincible Blood Wolves abandoned them?
The terrified crowd didn’t know that, right above them, beyond the thick atmosphere, a full fleet of 300 warships was engaged in fierce combat with their enemy.
The enemy, of course, was the Nomis’ space fleet—a group of strange ships that resembled caterpillars. Who knew what kind of civilization the Nomis were? Their ships all had biological characteristics, writhing as if alive, with fine hairs covering their hulls. At first glance, they were utterly disgusting.
But despite their unimpressive appearance, they are actually extremely powerful. Unlike the weapon systems favored by the Blood Wolf Warriors, these damned giant caterpillars use liquid projection as their attack method. Highly corrosive liquids are ejected from secretory openings on their bodies. In the weightless universe, they move faster than bullets. Once contact is made, they cause terrifying corrosive effects—truly formidable.
The Thunderbolt Assault Ships, which once held a significant advantage in battles against the Moor Empire, now performed poorly. The reason was simple: the Thunderbolt Assault Ships were designed to fight enemies using energy weapons, so great emphasis was placed on their energy shields, and even their hull armor was polished to a mirror-like finish. Thanks to this, they could overwhelm Moorian warships that were several times larger than them, despite being of medium size.
But today, this armor faced its nemesis. Liquid attacks bypassed energy shields, rendering the Thunderbolt Assault Ships’ shields useless against the Nomii ships. Their mirror-polished armor also lacked resistance to corrosion. Faced with the Nomii’s corrosive liquids, the Thunderbolt Assault Ships were quickly overwhelmed.
Just half an hour into the battle, over thirty Thunderbolt Assault Ships in the Death Star’s escort fleet were destroyed. Their spindle-shaped hulls were gradually burned in half under the painful gaze of the Blood Wolf Warriors before vanishing swiftly into space.
On one of the Thunderbolt Assault Ships at the rear of the fleet, a young officer in charge of planetary positioning sat quietly. Around him, busy officers rushed back and forth, delivering the latest battle reports.
“Report! Captain Sje, three more Thunderbolt Assault Ships have been lost at the front line. The total losses now stand at forty. Meanwhile, the enemy’s losses are less than five. Under heavy pressure, our front line is starting to crumble.”
“Report! Captain Sje. The enemy is beginning large-scale movements, attempting to change their assault formation. Estimated completion time: three minutes. Estimated assault time: seven minutes.”
“Report, Captain Sje. Our front-line formation is collapsing, and the central main line can no longer hold. We request a change in defense formation.”
Despite the continuous reports, the young officer remained expressionless, like a emotionless machine, not even twitching an eyebrow. It wasn’t until he heard that the front line was about to collapse that he gently raised his hand.
“How much time until collapse?”
“Seven minutes. Exactly matching the enemy’s assault time,” the officer beside him replied immediately, his voice short and firm.
“How many ships do we still have deployed there?”
“172. Almost all are damaged. The troops below say it’s fine, but in my opinion, their combat strength has been greatly reduced. Without reinforcements, they won’t be able to withstand the enemy’s assault.”
“Hmm. I see.” The young officer frowned, finally showing some concern.
He had personally requested this mission from Miss Suley, thinking it would be foolproof. But the Nomii ships turned out to be incredibly unpredictable, disrupting his entire plan. If things had gone smoothly, he would have already gained air superiority and launched an air assault to wipe out all the Nomii on the Death Star.
But now… he faced enormous difficulties.
The losses among the Thunderbolt Assault Ships pained Captain Sje. He didn’t know if Blackhair would be furious when he returned, but right now, he could hardly hold back his anger.
Those damned Nomii! Not a single one of them should be spared!
After some thought, the young officer glanced once more at the intense fighting at the front lines before finally making a decision.
“Pass the order: the central position shall withdraw fully in five minutes and scatter among the frigate groups on the flanks, clearing the central path.”
“Yes, Captain. But that will expose us to the enemy,” the officer beside him said quickly.
“That’s not a problem. That’s exactly what I want,” Captain Sje sneered. His handsome face twitched, suddenly looking fierce.
“I originally planned to destroy them head-on, but that seems unlikely now. In that case, I don’t mind taking on a little more risk. Let them attack my main force. The gift I prepared was meant for those behind them. Since they insist on tasting it first, there’s nothing I can do.”
“Understood,” the officer in charge of passing orders nodded, clearly comprehending. He then immediately conveyed the order.
Soon, the formation of the Bloodwolf Frigate Group changed drastically. The severely damaged central fleet, which had been fighting desperately, suddenly abandoned its opponents and retreated quickly. As it withdrew, it split into smaller groups scattered across the flanks. This turned the Bloodwolf formation into a giant cylinder, completely exposing the central vital areas to the enemy’s view.
On the opposite side, the Nommi tribe’s assault formation was also just ready. Hundreds of giant caterpillars gathered together, forming a formation resembling arrows. Seeing that the Blood Wolf warriors had abandoned the defense of the central front, they rushed forward like bloodthirsty leeches. At the same time, billions of streams of corrosive liquid shot out, pouring down on the Blood Wolf escort fleets on both flanks.
By this point, even a fool could see that the enemy was clearly aware this was a trap, yet they still dared to charge in. Relying on those disgusting caterpillar-shaped ships, the Nommi tribe was even braver than the Blood Wolf warriors had imagined. They immediately adopted a bold offensive strategy, aiming to crush the command center where Protector Sje was located while suppressing the Blood Wolf fleets on both flanks.
What audacity!!
Seeing this, even Protector Sje on the rear warship was impressed by the enemy commander’s boldness. Such a desperate assault showed that their style far exceeded that of ordinary pirates. In his eyes, they were almost as fierce as the Blood Wolf warriors. The Nommi tribe truly had something to be proud of.
But sadly… they were now enemies of the Blood Wolves…
Glancing at the extremely chaotic scenes on the planet below, Protector Sje’s expressionless face twitched slightly as he let out a cold snort. He raised his hand.
“Lower the command ship and clear the central orbit. Order the anti-space standby fleet to immediately exit transit and launch an attack! Input the specific combat targets into their optical computers.”
“Understood!!” The busy officers in the cabin responded loudly before quickly taking action. In just an instant, their command ship slowly sank beneath the gazes of many.
As soon as they left their original position, a massive transit gate replaced them, appearing before everyone’s eyes. Vast warships shot out from it like arrows from a god of war…
They were… hundreds of Storm Assault Ships!!
