Chapter 37: Visiting the Empire, Section 5
The light spot rapidly enlarged, becoming as big as a soybean in just a moment. At the same time, the long-delayed alarm finally sounded. Everyone in the cabin grew serious, their gazes fixed on Li Feng’s large screen. There, the scene in the direction indicated by the black-haired man was drawing closer at lightning speed. Every detail of the distant waters was visible. Dozens of dark silhouettes gradually appeared before their eyes.
Dolphins!!
They were creatures that resembled dolphins in appearance—streamlined bodies that gave off a powerful impression. Their skin was extremely smooth, and coupled with their strong tails, they moved at incredible speeds. In the blink of an eye, they had advanced nearly a thousand meters. The resistance of the water not only didn’t slow them down but seemed to provide them with endless momentum. Through the holographic scan, everyone could even see the powerful currents generated by their tail movements.
“What are those? Are they the natives of these waters? Why do they look so similar to dolphins?” Monkey was puzzled and murmured softly.
“Nobody can answer your question, Monkey. But they definitely aren’t dolphins,” the black-haired man said, shaking his head with a serious expression. “Dolphins certainly can’t reach such large sizes.”
Everyone nodded in agreement. Indeed, these new creatures resembled dolphins, but their size was far beyond normal—hundreds of meters long, comparable to a small warship. Dozens of them together gave the impression of an entire fleet. Watching their agile movements in the water, everyone felt a weight settle in their hearts.
If these creatures truly were the natives of these waters, hopefully no conflict would arise. After all, considering Li Feng’s adaptability in water, the gap between him and these aquatic beings was enormous. A battle between them would be unpredictable.
Yet, the more they feared it, the more it seemed to happen. Just as everyone was worried about these uninvited guests, the creatures clearly detected Li Feng’s presence. They turned their heads in unison, traced a graceful arc through the water, and rushed toward him at high speed. The expressions in the cabin instantly changed. At that moment, they saw the creatures’ eyes—red, blood-red eyes!!
Those were eyes only warriors would have—eyes filled with an endless desire for battle!!
“Not good. Full alert on the ship. Everyone to position. They’re hostile creatures.” The monkey’s gaze turned cold as he suddenly shouted. With his words, intense footsteps echoed in the fierce wind. Countless figures rushed to their combat positions. Inside the hangars, massive Blood Moons and Setting Suns began rapidly switching configurations. Numerous robotic arms worked frantically, removing their space combat components and installing underwater-specific ones.
Everyone’s expression was serious. They knew this was a battle entirely different from usual. In water, the power of the fierce wind diminished significantly, no longer providing them with wall-like protection. And given the speed of their opponents, it was unlikely the fierce wind could even keep up. This time, they could only rely on themselves!!
Fortunately, the newly equipped Blood Moons and Setting Suns had complete adaptation components; otherwise, they would truly be at their wits’ end.
“Blood Moon 33-2, conversion complete. Ready.”
“Blood Moon 11, conversion complete. Ready for combat.”
“Setting Sun 37, conversion complete. Ready.”
Fighting-inspired responses came through the channel, reaching each person’s ears. In the control room, everyone’s gaze changed. The closer the battle approached, the less cowardice could be seen in their eyes—replaced instead by a fighting spirit, fierce as fire, as bloody as blood!!
The Blood Wolves do not fight unless driven mad by battle—fearless, bloodthirsty. They don’t seek survival but victory!! When the Blood Wolves emerge, none can defeat them!!
Just like the saying on Earth: “We don’t ask who our opponent is; we only ask where they are.” Under the leadership of Black Hair, the Blood Wolf warriors were incredibly formidable. Perhaps each of them had their flaws, perhaps they were as annoying as local troublemakers. But when battle arose, they were far more professional than the strongest armies.
The name Blood Wolves was not just for show. Behind it stood a group of men as fierce as wolves.
In the control room at that moment, the tense atmosphere made everyone breathe more quickly. All eyes were fixed on the group of dolphins on the large screen, with beads of sweat appearing on their foreheads.
“The target’s speed is stable. No signs of sudden acceleration. Expected to enter the warship’s range in thirty seconds.”
“The number of targets is confirmed: twenty-six dolphins. Preliminary analysis suggests low defense. Attack methods unknown.”
“The surrounding environment is normal. The fierce wind remains stable. The cannons are charging, entering combat readiness level one.”
Urgent reports rang out one after another, but the black-haired man’s eyes narrowed slightly. His grip on the armrest tightened further, with the faint sound of bones grinding together. Beside him, the monkey was in a similar state, its small knife moving faster and faster. Just as the black-haired man was about to give the order to attack, his eyes suddenly widened, revealing an astonished expression.
On the main screen of the Li Feng, another wave of dense dots appeared. It was a wave of dots never seen before. Although they appeared on the screen no different from other units, their speed was vastly different. Every inch of the screen represented several kilometers of distance. In just a few seconds since their appearance, they had advanced nearly half a grid! Converted to normal speed, wasn’t that comparable to a teleporter?
“That’s…?!” Everyone became restless, their expressions instantly changing. A group of dolphins was already enough to cause tension, and now there were so many more dots—without even counting carefully, there were at least a hundred. If these were reinforcements for the dolphins, and the Li Feng only had one ship without sufficient power, wouldn’t it be doomed to destruction?
“Send over the holographic scan. See what those are!” In an instant, the black-haired man gritted his teeth and gave the order.
The scene on the screen quickly shifted, and soon, the distant waters appeared before everyone’s eyes. A group of spindle-shaped, menacing shadows appeared before their eyes.
“Damn it, is this really the ocean? It’s sharks!!!” Seeing those shadows, the monkey was terrified.
Indeed, they were all creatures shaped like sharks. Just like the dolphins before, their bodies had been magnified countless times. Their spindle-shaped bodies, powerful tails, and lightning-fast speeds all proved their strength. Thanks to the high resolution of the holographic image, people could even see their sharp teeth!
Meanwhile, as these sharks appeared, the dolphins ahead seemed to sense it as well. Their speed suddenly increased, and they rushed into the Li Feng’s range. The crew member in charge of scanning immediately reported, “Captain, they’re within range. Requesting permission to attack!”
His voice was urgent, but his face remained expressionless. As a crew member of the Li Feng, having experienced many battles, he had become as unshakable as iron. The closer the crisis, the less likely he was to make mistakes. Although the dolphins’ sudden acceleration was surprising, he still reported it meticulously.
But to his surprise, Black Hair did not issue an attack order. Instead, he showed a strange expression and stared at the screen intently for a while before suddenly letting out a long sigh.
“Pass the order: change the target. The enemy are the shark creatures behind us. Send in the dolphins.”
“Captain!!”
“Head!!”
Everyone was shocked. No one could have expected that just before battle, Black Hair would give such an order. Those dolphins had unknown origins, and the Wind of Fury lacked the power to move quickly—wouldn’t sending them in be seeking their own deaths?
But since they weren’t Black Hair, they naturally couldn’t understand his thoughts. In fact, those few brief seconds were like an entire long day for Black Hair, as he had suddenly made a new discovery.
He noticed that the dolphins in front of them all had wounds, more or less severe. The wounds weren’t big, but they were numerous and hidden beneath their gray skin, making them invisible unless one paid close attention. If it weren’t for Black Hair’s habit of observing carefully, he would have missed them too. Fortunately, one dolphin twitched while swimming, allowing Black Hair to notice this phenomenon.
Thus, Black Hair immediately reached a new conclusion: the dolphins were not enemies but were fleeing. And the enemies forcing them to flee were those new light spots appearing behind them—those murderous shark creatures.
“Order Sunset to attack, form a spear formation for close combat with the shark creatures. All Blood Moons must switch to heavy sniper rifles. Prioritize killing them in one shot! Identify the enemy leader and eliminate them immediately! Wind of Fury, move forward one kilometer and turn sideways; all gun turrets, charge energy and switch to armor-piercing shells!” In the cabin, Black Hair calmly issued a series of orders, his eyes blazing with cold intensity.
“Yes!!” Everyone responded in unison and rushed to carry out the orders.
In the silent waters, the Wind of Fury moved like an ancient giant, slowly turning half a circle to position its hull directly in front of the distant enemies. Its side armor rippled like scales, and batches of mechs emerged swiftly, like roe beneath a giant fish’s belly.
Tall Sunset wielded a giant battle axe, while Blood Moon carried a heavy sniper rifle as massive as a cannon. They lined up neatly in front of the Wind of Fury. The cold mechanical eyes of the mechs, devoid of any emotion, stared at the alien creatures gradually taking shape in the distance, the silence as thick as a forest.
At that moment, murderous intent froze the ocean.
