Chapter 25: The Fierce Universe, Section 9
“Disputes arise from disagreements over how to deal with newly discovered species. As you know, Lord Baker. Some warrior races of slave species are eager to prove themselves. Thus, competition for these missions has led to some extreme behavior among them. Even we, the Moors, cannot interfere with our subordinates showing their bravery. But you need not worry. This station places great emphasis on protecting merchants. You will receive the most careful treatment. May your trades be successful. By Tia.”
“By Tia,” repeated the black-haired man mechanically.
“Hm? What does that phrase mean?” Blood-eyed was curious. He hadn’t paid close attention to that information.
“It’s a religious term. I guessed it,” the black-haired man said, glancing at Blood-eyed and shrugging casually.
The black-haired man was lying.
In fact, he knew that Tia was the god of the Moors. But this god wasn’t fictional—she was a real being. Among the Moors, Tia was known as the Mother of War, the deity all Moors must worship. Her level of fanaticism was probably even beyond that of the ancient Wheel Cult in Huaguo.
However, the black-haired man didn’t have time to explain these things to Blood-eyed. What concerned him more were the words of the security officer earlier. If he hadn’t heard wrong, there must have been a certain term in there…
Slave races!!
Slave races dedicated to warfare.
It was obvious that these so-called slave races were not the same as slaves in human society. After all, the Moors were the greatest cosmic hegemony. In the black-haired man’s view, these slave races were not so much captured by the Moors as rather dependent on them.
But to be dependent, one needed strength. The combat capabilities of these slave races, who could rely on the Moors, spoke volumes about their strength. The black-haired man didn’t think these guys would be like the ancient slaves of Huaguo—naked and wielding broken sticks.
It turned out that the earlier attacks were just probes. These Moors hadn’t taken the human world seriously at all. In their eyes, the human world was merely a newly discovered species!!
Damn it. The black-haired man suddenly felt a bitterness in his mouth. Such a powerful Moor empire was like a mountain pressing heavily on his heart, making it hard for him to breathe.
But wasn’t a challenge exactly what he needed?
The black-haired man’s brows gradually relaxed. A faint smirk appeared on his face. With a gesture of his finger, those beneath him immediately understood. The massive Li Feng slowly entered that dark port. For some reason, everyone couldn’t help but shiver at that moment.
The port was enormous. Given the scale of this unprecedented giant artificial celestial body, one could imagine just how large its port was. The Li Feng, which was considered a large warship in the human world, seemed like an ant here—so small it could hardly be noticed. Along the way, there were nearly a dozen giant warships just passing by, each seven or eight times larger than the Li Feng. Above them was a huge transparent dome, with countless small transport ships zipping through rapidly. The Blood Wolves felt as if they had entered a land of giants, with exclamations of amazement rising everywhere.
“Damn it. I should have brought a few transport ships with me. Head, with such huge floating ships, their cargo handling capacity must be astonishingly large. Our cargo isn’t even worth mentioning in comparison.” Blood Pupil leaned against the window, marveling before suddenly speaking in regret.
But the black-haired man didn’t agree.
“Our transport ships aren’t camouflaged, and their specifications are beyond the Moors’ understanding. Coming here will only make us seem like enemies. Although the Li Feng is small, it’s disguised as the smallest Bor clan transport ship, which alone should provide us with protection. As for the cargo, don’t worry—I brought only the best.”
“I hope so,” Blood Pupil said, shaking his head skeptically.
Dock 3125 arrived quickly. After carefully inspecting the docking site, the black-haired man was very satisfied.
It was a remote dock, about fifteen kilometers away from the airport exit. Like the civilization of the Moors, it was also constructed entirely of light yellow stone. Before they arrived, another giant ship was already docked there, with countless goods being unloaded from it. The docks were crowded with people, and strange creatures were busy everywhere.
The black-haired man noticed that the giant ship also bore the Bor clan’s hexagonal emblem. It seemed the Bor clan had a wide range of trade activities within the Moor Empire and must be quite powerful. He had indeed made the right bet this time.
After disembarking, a short receptionist who had been waiting for a long time rushed over at top speed, stepping over several staff members who tried to block his path. His anxious expression was like that of someone whose wallet had been stolen.
Black Hair noticed that behind this unlucky guy were a group of burly creatures that resembled spiders, with six furry thick legs and four arms as thick as barrels. If his own disguised Pol race wasn’t a giant species over three meters tall, they would probably have to look up just to stand in front of them.
But now, it seemed they were the ones having to look up. The Blood Wolves following Black Hair immediately felt better and raised their chins high.
“Hello, great Pol merchant. I’m Noby, the receptionist at this dock. You can just call me Noby. Welcome to Star Station 763. I’ll take you to your hotel right away.”
“Oh?” Black Hair narrowed his eyes, a smirk on his face. “I don’t recall booking any reception service.”
“Oh, that’s because recently, the Tekks and the Allied Lands have been fighting over control of new species populations. There’s some chaos at the station. To ensure the safety of a distinguished guest like you, the Moore Security Department has arranged for us to take care of you. Please rest assured, we will guarantee your safety.” The short man kept bowing repeatedly, speaking with such respect as if addressing an elder.
But Black Hair noticed a glint in his eyes.
Interesting. He had already been targeted upon arriving. Black Hair sneered. It seems conflicts never cease no matter where you are. Chaos is perfect for taking advantage of situations, isn’t it?
“Alright,” Black Hair nodded. “My ship doesn’t need your protection. I’ll leave some men behind. Let me make it clear—entering the ship without my permission is illegal. My subordinates have the right to shoot intruders.”
“Of course, of course.” Noby nodded frantically and shouted at the spider-like creatures behind him. “Did you hear that, you idiots? You’re not needed here. Get lost and go back to your nests. Damn you!”
At his scolding, those burly, grotesque creatures seemed terrified and scattered immediately. Their six legs moved swiftly across the ground, allowing them to run faster than galloping horses, and they vanished in an instant.
“Huh!? Weren’t they supposed to be guards?” Blood Pupil behind Black Hair asked in surprise.
Hearing his words, the short Little Norbi suddenly raised his head in surprise. “Of course not, honorable sir. These creatures are the lowest-class pest-crawlers, meant only to carry goods for you. How could they possibly serve as guards? Stop joking—these cowards are even less brave than a rat. They’re completely unsuitable for combat. Don’t tell me you don’t use them to carry goods here?”
“Oh… well…” Blood-Pupils was momentarily speechless, realizing he had caused trouble. Damn it, why was everything in this Moor tribe’s territory so bizarre? Such strong six-clawed creatures were actually used for carrying goods. Oh, God, they were several times larger than even the strongest gladiators.
Saying the wrong thing would lead to suspicion. As Blood-Pupils worried about what to say, Black-Hair quickly saved him. “Oh, we’re used to using machinery for transportation. As for these pest-crawlers, I think they’re too filthy.”
“Oh, great Mother Tiya, you actually use machinery for transport? Then your goods must be extremely valuable. That makes sense—such precious goods are certainly not fit for those lowly pest-crawlers to touch. Those damned trashlings are too dirty.” Little Norbi agreed wholeheartedly, nodding repeatedly with an even more obsequious smile on his face as he extended a respectful hand.
“Please follow me, honorable merchant. Your room has already been prepared. There are also female slaves ready for you—all top-quality Rabbitfolk. You’ll be satisfied.”
With that, he turned and led the way, while Black-Hair gave a signal to his companions behind and followed.
The Blood Wolves were divided into two groups—one followed Black-Hair, the other stayed behind. Everyone realized this wasn’t a vacation. They were in the heart of the Moor tribe’s territory, and Li Feng was their guarantee—they couldn’t afford any mistakes. So those who stayed behind had no complaints.
Not long after following Little Norbi, Black-Hair stepped onto a beautiful pipeline glowing with colorful light. Before anyone could understand what was happening, they felt light in their bodies, and everything around them blurred. When they regained clarity, they found themselves in a bustling metropolis. It seemed to be a station, with extremely wide streets and all sorts of strange creatures everywhere. Novel, high-end floating vehicles shuttled back and forth constantly.
Their target was a towering building beside this wide street. In front of the building’s entrance, several large characters were clearly written in Moorish script:
“Longmen Inn Chain… Branch 374.”
Damn!! Hei Fa was almost stunned speechless, completely frozen in shock.
