Chapter 15: Alien Planet! Alien Creatures? Section 6
Black Hair had never encountered a Death Star before and had no idea just how terrifying such a creature could be. Yet, with Core by his side, he felt reassured. As for this suddenly appeared companion who stubbornly followed him, Black Hair really didn’t know what to do. After all, ever since Core was by his side, it had only helped him without ever asking for anything in return.
But this time, it might be Core’s turn to ask for something.
The Death Star, a being rumored to be a nightmare in the universe, was avoided by all living things. Yet for the Wandering Clan, it was far more attractive than the most perfect ores.
The reason the Death Star became a nightmare for all living things was certainly not just because of its ability to absorb scanning waves and emit radiation. Only the Wandering Clan knew what lay deep within its surface.
It was an almost endless source of energy… though extremely filthy, it had remarkable penetrating power. Only the Wandering Clan would appreciate such energy. Once they obtained it, their capabilities would undergo a qualitative leap—completely abandoning their previous parasitic form and transforming completely!
This terrifying radiation energy would bring a brand-new form of life to the Wandering Clan!
This was also Core’s dream!
So, after Black Hair returned to Mason Planet, he didn’t even bother to give any notice before transferring his consciousness outward to establish contact with their clan base in the distant stars. Moments later, under his command, the asteroid they had parasitized suddenly made a sharp turn in space and vanished silently.
Time passed slowly. During this period, Black Hair’s forces worked tirelessly, with good news coming one after another. The newly purchasedswordfish warships arrived as scheduled, Baroka was already leading his children in regular training, and Mason Base received its energy supplies smoothly. The newly acquired Centimex ore was installed in place. Most of the planet’s functions had been restored. Although Mason’s self-awareness still hadn’t awakened, it was enough to fill everyone with excitement.
Of course, the most pleasing news came from Blood Pupils. In just one week, he had successfully established a medium-sized base on Death Star and was still expanding it. Preliminary estimates suggested that with another month, the framework of the city would be complete. Meanwhile, news of Black Hair’s plan to build a city where multiple races could live together was also sent to space through the channels of the Wandering Ones and the Gold-Eating Insects. Gradually, some racial factions began to inquire about it. Although these factions were very weak and lacked special skills, they provided Black Hair’s group with sufficient motivation. Almost everyone admired their leader’s far-sightedness greatly, and Black Hair’s status among them grew even stronger.
But they didn’t know that at the same time, deep in the universe, a massive fleet was moving silently. Its target was the beautiful home that Black Hair’s group was carefully building.
The Interstellar Fleet was indeed a huge organization, and its organizational structure naturally suffered from the bloat inevitable in such an entity. This reconnaissance mission, ordered personally by Grand Marshal Wick, was even more grandiose. Aside from ten fully equipped fleets tasked with the main attack, there were an astonishing 320 ships dedicated to logistics and supply. Almost every 1.5 warships had a dedicated supply ship following behind!! Everyone appeared relaxed, slacking off along the way—more like on a picnic than on a war mission.
After all, after thousands of years of glory, humanity had long developed a sense of superiority. How could the Interstellar Fleet, as humanity’s strongest force, be an exception? In everyone’s mind, no matter what race it was or how mysterious it seemed, in the face of such a massive fleet, there was only one option: flee in panic. Countless past expeditions had proven this. Humanity’s fleet was the strongest force in the universe… truly invincible!!
But contrary to everyone’s optimism, inside the largest warship in the fleet, there was an old man with furrowed brows, remaining silent for a long time. His hair was gray, his face full of wrinkles, and his body hunched unnaturally. The crisp military uniform he wore seemed hollow on him, failing to convey any sense of authority. If one hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, no one would have guessed that this aged man, who seemed ready to pass away at any moment, was the most famous three-star general in the alliance—General Eternity Star, Biritto!!
“Sigh, it’s too slow. At this pace, how much longer will it take to reach the destination…?” After a long silence, General Birito suddenly shook his head and let out a deep sigh. Immediately, a young and handsome adjutant stepped forward and spoke respectfully, “General, if the fleet proceeds smoothly, it will take another one and a half months. With so many support ships, we can’t perform large-scale jumps, so the speed is slower than expected. But this won’t affect our plan.” The young adjutant was full of energy, speaking concisely and forcefully, clearly displaying the boldness typical of a soldier. Yet, instead of feeling relieved, the old general frowned even more after hearing his report. “One and a half months, huh? What a drag—what was originally a journey of less than half a month has been stretched out by these guys. Do they really think this expedition is just a leisure trip? They’re so carefree, not even aware of what’s at stake. Look at them—knowing full well it’s a war, they still bring their families along. What the hell is this???” “General, I must remind you that they aren’t soldiers. They’re just sponsors of the fleet. As you know, it’s always been like this whenever we explore new territories—these noble lords invest huge sums of money just to reap the benefits first, to claim some better colonial planets. We can’t break this tradition,” the adjutant reminded him quietly. “Hmph, do you still need to remind me that without their support, we wouldn’t have a fleet? Do you still need to remind me that even the warships under my feet were built with their money?” The old general glared at his adjutant coldly, his words laced with mockery. “No, General. I’m merely fulfilling my duty. The Grand Marshal knows your temper and hopes I can remind you at the appropriate time,” the adjutant replied calmly. Hearing the words “Grand Marshal,” the old general was momentarily stunned, then helplessly waved his hand and shook his head. “Enough, enough. I get it. I’ll do as Wick says. I don’t need your reminders. I know you mean well, not wanting these words to reach those noble lords and cause me trouble. But…”
The old general slowly raised his head, his weak eyes gazing at the distant starry sky with a gloomy expression. “If things continue like this, the Interstellar Fleet will soon be caught up by other forces and overtaken in no time. I’m old, and I don’t want to see the fleet I’ve worked so hard for end up like this. That so-called… oh, the Warriors’ Association—isn’t it trying to organize a new fleet? If not for the constraints imposed by the Alliance Council, they would have succeeded by now, wouldn’t they?”
“Yes, General. The Warriors’ Association is a civilian organization. Their actions violated the interests of the nobles, which is why they failed.”
“I think their failure is only temporary. After all, their organization has already taken shape. No one knows whether they actually possess warships or how many. Surface failures often hide much more beneath them. I’m afraid the universe is about to become unstable. All they need is just one chance…” The old general’s voice dropped to a low level, audible only to himself.
“I hope this isn’t their chance.”
Silence returned to the cabin once again. In the vast expanse of space, the enormous fleet moved slowly, like a giant worm spanning thousands of miles. The warships ahead were arranged neatly like swords, while those behind were brightly lit. Through the portholes, one could even see lively scenes of singing and dancing within.
Those noble lords… they really know how to enjoy themselves.
Meanwhile, Blackhair on Death Star was unaware that another month had passed for him. Due to the delays caused by those noble lords, the Interstellar Fleet’s expedition was even slower than Uli had estimated. This gave him ample time. The city was being built at full speed and had already taken initial shape. On a plain of Death Star, massive metal structures stretched for hundreds of miles, forming a huge framework. Countless construction mechs were busy installing one large machine after another. The enormous fleet moved back and forth in the sky, and everywhere was a scene of intense activity.
Koko’s second and third batches of transport fleets had also arrived long ago. Just as Blackhair had imagined, Koko had invested all of her wealth this time. Half of these warships were actually dedicated to construction purposes, with carrier ships accounting for a full 40% of them.
With such substantial resources, the smooth progress of city construction was only natural. And as for the harsh environmental problems on Death Star, a solution had now been found.
It was the Wandering Clan under nuclear leadership.
It was as if out of nowhere—just a week ago, that parasitized asteroid suddenly appeared on the edge of Death Star. Then, like a meteor, it crashed onto Death Star, creating a crater several kilometers in diameter. The massive shock even distorted the ground. The Wandering Ones announced their arrival in an unprecedented manner.
Soon after, these mysterious and terrifying creatures displayed abilities that seemed like miracles. Countless muscle-bound biological tissues surged out of the crater left by the meteor and spread wildly. In just one day, these red muscle tissues covered hundreds of kilometers of terrifying territory and continued to expand rapidly. All vegetation in their path was instantly devoured. Charred rocks were crushed, and strongly acidic ponds were submerged. Even the murky air in the sky was forcefully absorbed by these tissues; when expelled again, it was fresh as if damp with dew.
God, this was nothing short of a super-large greening device. No one could believe what they were seeing. Before their eyes, the Wandering Ones’ vigorous vitality was on full display. As these muscle tissues expanded, the ecological environment of the entire planet improved at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Of course, the Wandering Ones were friendly. Their consumption and assimilation were limited to transformation purposes, causing no impact on the city being built by Blood Pupils. As the muscle tissues expanded, the previously covered ground reappeared, with most of the rocks crushed to reveal the dark soil beneath. With the efforts of the Core, the Wandering Ones ingeniously left behind the strange plants they had collected over countless years beneath the soil. Coupled with growth-stimulating bodily fluids, new greenery finally began to spread across Death Star…
Have you seen the most primitive forests? They exist on Death Star. Have you seen the tenderest seedlings? They exist on Death Star. Have you seen large lakes so clear that you can see the bottom? They also exist on Death Star!! Even waterfalls hundreds of meters high exist on Death Star!!!
Is this still Death Star? This is clearly an ocean of life!!
The Wandering Ones are truly the most miraculous race in the universe. No one could have imagined that those ugly muscle tissues would possess such great powers. Watching a dark planet gradually turn green with life, almost everyone was moved to tears, shouting from the depths of their hearts:
This is… our home… our home.
In just half a month, the once lifeless planet had completely transformed. Greenery and vitality filled every corner; even the steel cities built by Bloodpupil were submerged in a sea of green. The air was fresh, as if tinged with dew, and the sky was as blue as a gem. Even the mountains were draped in a green cloak. Everything was as beautiful as a dream.
With such changes, all races in the universe who noticed this place became restless. Within just a few days, Blackhair received no fewer than 500 requests to make contact. All intelligent beings in the five nearby star systems showed great interest in this place. Some races even arrived directly before Blackhair without even greeting him, hoping to obtain permission to settle there.
Under these circumstances, Blackhair had no choice but reluctantly select the five most promising races, allowing them to establish their own living areas in the city ahead of time, with full support from Bloodpupil’s construction fleet.
These five races were… the already allied Gold-Eating Insects, the Bakr Insects famous for traversing space through their bodies, the Gelatinous Beasts skilled in altering material structures, the Nomads with their high-tech civilization, and the most mysterious ones—those whom no one had ever understood… the Undead.
