Chapter Thirteen: Wealth and Poverty, Section 9
The planet where the Slime Beasts lived was not far away. With the coordinates provided by the queen, Li Feng only needed to make a short-distance jump to reach it. But before that, Hei Fa first gathered his other eight Pike-class ships.
It was an unknown adventure, and having a slight advantage in strength meant more confidence. Even the Pike-class ships, which Hei Fa considered to have little combat power, couldn’t be ignored. Throughout the journey, he remained with his eyes closed, lost in thought, saying not a word. The atmosphere in Li Feng’s cabin was extremely oppressive.
There was very little information available. So far, Hei Fa only knew that the enemy was a creature that attacked by corroding with bodily fluids. Everything else was unknown. Under such circumstances, Li Feng’s safety posed a serious concern for Hei Fa.
“Sulei, what’s the energy reserve?” Hei Fa suddenly opened his eyes and spoke slowly.
“98%, and it will be fully saturated in ten minutes,” the girl replied cheerfully.
“Reduce the engine’s power output and activate the auxiliary energy compartment to store any excess energy. I don’t want to run out of energy again like last time. I need Li Feng’s energy level to stay at 120% at all times.”
“Understood!” The girl’s fingers tapped rapidly, and a row of icons on the auxiliary screen lit up.
“Baroka.”
“Here, Captain.”
“Replace the weapons with incendiary bombs. Our opponent is liquid-based, so this type of ammunition should deal a fatal blow to them.”
“Yes, Captain!!” the fat man replied loudly.
Preparations aboard Li Feng’s ship proceeded in an orderly manner. Soon, a planet appeared before everyone’s eyes…
It was a small planet, but even when viewed directly from space, it was clear that its surface had no land at all—only vast blue oceans. A complete water world.
“That’s the place,” Xue Tong said lazily, staring at the blue sphere on the screen. Beside him, Bai Li had already put on a purple combat suit, holding her helmet in her arms. A hint of excitement appeared on her beautiful face.
“Should we send a communication message?” Baroka asked over his shoulder.
“No need. Start attacking immediately,” Hei Fa replied curtly.
Boom!!!
A deafening roar immediately erupted, and the terrifying firepower of nine warships, including the eight Pike-class ships behind, poured down on that blue planet in an instant. Countless cannonballs shattered the silence of the starry sky, as if a smell of gunpowder filled the universe. In everyone’s eyes, the seawater on the planet’s surface seemed to suddenly boil, writhing wildly. Tsunamis hundreds of meters high surged violently, with massive, destructive fireballs bursting deep within the ocean. The entire planet began to tremble violently.
It seemed that this tactic of destroying a planet didn’t require considering the opponent’s reaction at all—just launch indiscriminate attacks from beyond range. At this distance, the firepower of human warships was a nightmare for all races. Beyond the constraints of distance and with its nearly terrifying power, it could easily turn a planet into dust in the universe.
Strangely, after thirty minutes of the fleet’s attack, Black Hair still saw no sign of the Mud Beasts.
“Something’s not right. Why aren’t they coming out? If this bombardment continues, that planet will be completely destroyed.” For the first time, a hint of change appeared in Blood Pupil’s lazy expression.
What opponent is the most dangerous? Every warrior could give the correct answer: the one who hasn’t appeared yet. No matter how powerful someone is, they must have weaknesses. But with an unseen opponent, even if they do have weaknesses, you can’t know them. That hidden danger in the darkness made everyone’s hair stand on end.
“Don’t think about anything. Keep attacking. Increase the firepower!! If they don’t come out, destroy the planet along with them.” Black Hair’s reaction this time was even more decisive—he directly issued the order to destroy it.
Joking, just destroy a planet? Lily secretly stuck out her tongue. This master was really bold—destroying a planet without investigation. Such an act was absolutely forbidden even in interstellar fleets. Although the universe was vast, intelligent races were still rare. If there were intelligent beings on that planet, just this order could convict Black Hair of genocide.
No, it wasn’t “if”—they already knew there were intelligent beings there. Hadn’t the master planned to communicate with the leader of those beings just now? Why suddenly issue such a heartless order now?
Lily’s little head was completely baffled.
Of course, she couldn’t know Black Hair’s thoughts. In Black Hair’s way of thinking, opponents who didn’t appear in his calculations weren’t worth communicating with. Such opponents were always placed in the most dangerous category. To ensure his own safety, he would rather give up on this communication plan.
Of course, there might be another turning point…
“You guys!! What are you doing!!!”
Suddenly, a deafening roar came through the warship’s speakers, and intense signal fluctuations appeared on the screen in front of the pirate in charge of communications.
It was a communication—joy appeared on everyone’s faces immediately.
It wasn’t fear of the opponent appearing, but fear that it wouldn’t. Once it appeared, everything could be resolved. For some reason, everyone had almost blind trust in Black Hair.
“We’re setting off fireworks,” Black Hair replied casually, sighing inwardly.
“Fireworks!? What are those things!? I order you, wretched humans, to stop your attacks immediately!! You’re disturbing the sleep of the great Water Demon!! You’ll pay for this!!” The voice grew even angrier. On the main screen of the warship, the oceans on the surface of that planet suddenly became violent—almost every inch of space was filled with chaotic tsunamis, as if all the water on the planet had boiled!!
But even that wouldn’t have surprised the pirates. What shocked them was that the oceans on that planet…
were alive!!
The oceans covering the entire planet were actually one entity!! One living being!!!
“God!!” Suley covered her mouth, unable to believe what she saw.
Before everyone’s eyes, the oceans on the planet’s surface rose, transformed, and surged upward. Twisted, they rushed into the sky. Vast amounts of seawater, like gelatinous solid matter, spun wildly, eventually forming a terrifying monster face on the planet’s surface!!
A face extremely similar to humans, but without eyes!!
Was this the Mud Beast mentioned by the Queen of Gold-Eating Insects? The pirates exchanged glances, each seeing the shock in the others’ eyes.
“A great form of life,” Black Hair defined it.
“So you’re the Mud Beast?”
“Shut up!! Mud Beast is a humiliating title given to us by the Gold-Eating Insects!! You wretched humans should respectfully call us the great Water Demon!! Our existence is beyond your imagination!! This is the gap in levels of life!! In the face of our immense wrath, you are nothing but ants!!”
“But now this ant is urinating on your greatness,” the black-haired man said sarcastically, curling his lips. As a human from Earth, he hated these beings who constantly talked about hierarchy the most. Terms like “ant” and “noble” were relics from ancient nobles from countless years ago. Modern politicians had long learned to hide their contempt and wear a facade of righteousness.
“Higher form of life, lower level of intelligence,” the black-haired man revised his initial definition.
But undoubtedly, his sarcasm ignited even greater fury in the other party. For a moment, even the universe could see the planet trembling. Countless gelatinous creatures rose into the air, appearing in the space surrounding the planet. These creatures had no fixed shape, appearing entirely deep blue. According to Lingfeng’s analysis, they lacked basic thinking abilities and were purely instinct-driven predators.
Hmm, these must be the mud beasts the queen mentioned. The one who spoke earlier was likely their leader. The black-haired man hadn’t expected that these creatures were similar to the Gold-Eating Insects, operating under a simple collective structure—with only one voice for the entire race, that of their leader.
“You will bear the wrath of Water Demon for tearing apart the universe!!” A thunderous roar echoed, and all the mud beasts rushed forward at high speed. Their dense numbers nearly covered half of the planet’s sky.
Unfortunately, their opponent this time wasn’t the Gold-Eating Insects. Unlike those insects’ simple biting attacks, the black-haired man’s pirate fleet possessed unparalleled long-range strike power. Intense gunfire roared again, and countless brilliant explosions erupted above the planet. Against the incendiary bombs specially prepared by Baroka’s children, these mud beasts’ liquid bodies had no defense at all. They were instantly vaporized by the extreme heat the moment they made contact, turning into wisps of gas.
It was like a massacre. Before the black-haired man could finish smoking a cigarette, the overwhelming swarm of mud beasts had vanished without a trace.
This is the gap in strength…
Watching the cleared battlefield and the sudden horror on the planet’s strange face, the black-haired man smiled triumphantly and exhaled a ring of smoke.
“Now, we can have a proper conversation…”
