Chapter 6: Fury No One Can Bear – Section 7

Scorching sun, extreme heat, thick smoke, and debris.
In the vast desert, a giant steel monster was stuck helplessly in the sand dunes. Its body was riddled with dozens of deep holes that reached the bones, revealing oddly shaped, deformed interiors. Pieces of armor lay scattered everywhere. Searing flames burst out from various parts of its body, emitting crackling sounds.
Around it, about ten mech remnants lay scattered in a fan shape. Each mech was covered in countless bullet holes, looking as if they had been smashed to pieces.
“Clang.” A thick, long crystal machine gun fell onto the sand, rolling a few times before stopping. Thin trails of smoke emerged from its dark muzzle, along with a burnt smell.
Xue Tong rubbed his forehead hard and sighed deeply. The flickering warning lights and shrill alarms inside the cockpit continued nonstop, as if driven mad. In his mind’s sea, the blood-red schematic of the mech structure caused his heart to ache repeatedly.
When misfortune strikes, even drinking cold water can cause pain. Xue Tong never expected that even the most thorough safety measures in the mech warehouse couldn’t protect his demon completely. At the moment the floating ship crashed, a heavy armor plate was torn off the wall by the intense shock, slamming his demon to the ground and severing a small gap in the nerve connecting its arm.
Under normal circumstances, Xue Tong wouldn’t have cared about such a minor wound. But with those ten mechs appearing afterward, he had no choice but to pay attention.
Who would have thought those seemingly damaged mechs could possess such combat power? Though their armor was negligibly thin, their agile movements, sharp reactions, and relentless firepower far surpassed those of ordinary regular armies. Moreover, with Hei Fa not by his side, Xue Tong lacked effective support and was forced into a tough battle.
Fortunately, his experience saved his life once again. Even though his demon only had one intact arm, Xue Tong still executed a successful ambush. He sacrificed 46% of the demon’s damage to destroy those ten mechs.
But he didn’t know what had happened to Su Lei. With such a violent collision, neither he nor she could have escaped unscathed. He hoped the floating ship’s life-saving facilities could protect them. Sighing once more, Xue Tong focused his mind and prepared to return to the floating ship.

But sadly, he would never get another chance. Before the giant demon could turn around, the roar of mech engines came from the horizon. Along with that sound, countless black dots appeared on the distant skyline as if out of nowhere. Thick clouds of dust rose into the air, like a giant smoke dragon. In just a moment, those black dots revealed their terrifying forms—over thirty battered mechs. “Bang!!” The demon’s legs gave way, and he collapsed to his knees. His tattered armor plates jingled violently and fell off one after another. ※※※ “Is this the guy who killed my ten children?” Sitting in a huge fur chair, Baroka chewed loudly on freshly roasted sandworm meat while muttering. “Yes, leader. It’s him. His name is Bloodpupil; he’s a famous assassin in Berin and also a highly skilled technician. He used despicable tactics to ambush your dear children. You must avenge them!” The short dog replied loudly, inhaling deeply the aroma of the roasted meat with drool streaming down. It was a very spacious area, perfectly square in shape, with pitch-black walls and floor—its material completely invisible. Apart from the fur seat where the fat Baroka sat, the only things in the hall were circles of bonfires. Dry bones burned fiercely in the flames, emitting crackling sounds. The flickering light illuminated every detail of the hall. Nearly a hundred ragged men gathered around the bonfires, drinking and eating heartily while staring at the figure in the center of the hall. Bloodpupil was tied up like a zongzi and thrown carelessly there, curled up like a shrimp with his eyes tightly closed. Being captured was undoubtedly the most humiliating thing for a warrior—even if Bloodpupil’s true identity was that of an assassin. If it weren’t for the demon mechs having completely lost their combat capability, and if Blackhair and Sulei still needed him to rescue them, the proud Bloodpupil would never have made such a humiliating decision. “Shut up, dog. The great Sand Bandit Baroka doesn’t need you to guide him. I won’t let go of the killer of my children.” The fat Baroka roared violently, cutting off the dog’s endless flattery. His fleshy body trembled as he stood up.

From this distance, his figure appeared as huge as a small mountain. Frowning and scratching his nostrils with his thick fingers, a hint of confusion appeared on the face of this sand bandit leader.
“Blood Eyes—this name sounds so familiar. I seem to have heard it somewhere before.”
“Leader, it was the city guards who mentioned it. He’s that dark-haired accomplice. There’s also a million in reward for him,” Dog replied hastily.
“Oh, right. It’s him!!” Baroka slapped his thigh. “Damn, I finally got him. Heh, you brat, stop pretending to be asleep. I know you’re awake. Tell me where your accomplice went!”
Brat? Me? Damn it?
Blood Eyes snorted in disdain. He turned away, unwilling to deal with this boring fat guy anymore. Didn’t he know the proper etiquette when talking to a senior technician? Or maybe…
Wait!!
Was he… asking me where the dark-haired one went?
His thoughts raced, and finally, a lazy smile appeared on Blood Eyes’ face. He turned around forcefully, meeting Baroka’s gaze unflinchingly.
“What’s in it for me if I tell you?”
His arrogant tone was exactly like that of the dark-haired man. Blood Eyes’ words immediately provoked a fierce reaction from all the sand bandits present. These ragged men shouted angrily, throwing the leftover bones at him.
“In it for me?” Baroka was stunned for a moment before bursting into laughter.
“What a bold brat, daring to demand something from the great sand bandit Baroka. What a joke… Hahaha. Well, since you’re the only one who’s dared to speak to me like this in years, I’ll give you something.”
With a wave of his fat hand, Baroka’s face twisted into a ferocious smile.
“Tell me, and I’ll give her to you!”
Blood Eyes turned in shock. At the entrance of the hall, a slender and delicate figure was gradually becoming visible…
