Chapter 3: Attack on the Starship (Part 2)
Large starships have formidable defenses, but no matter how strong they are, they’re not designed to defend against just one person. Their automated weapons are meant to counter external star weapons and attack drones, not someone unarmed. Thus, the starships found themselves in a difficult situation—they had to deploy numerous troops, disable automatic firing, and switch to manual shooting to prevent Qi Wu Zhen from approaching.
Due to their enormous size, large starships offered no effective way for someone as small as Qi Wu Zhen to attack them. It was like an elephant trying to deal with a flying bee—difficult even to see, let alone attack.
Qi Wu Zhen stepped onto the surface of the starship. With a slight smirk, she crouched down and slapped the ship’s hull. Countless runes flowed into it, instantly igniting a raging fire inside. Then she stood up, ejected herself into space, transformed into a beam of runes, and in the blink of an eye, appeared on another medium-sized starship. Within minutes, four starships were ablaze—fires that couldn’t be extinguished and spread rapidly throughout the ships, throwing the entire fleet into chaos.
Li Ran was even more furious. While Qi Wu Zhen had easily burned four starships, Li Ran destroyed them by force. He used his sacred artifacts to smash the ships to pieces, even large ones. He and Qi Wu Zhen each took down one large starship. Their brutal attacks scared away countless attack drones and star weapons, leaving no one daring to attack.
Ku Mu and Monier rarely dealt with starships. They focused on swarms of armed soldiers and various attack drones. As they moved through space, groups of soldiers turned into floating corpses, and attack drones became piles of drifting space debris. Of course, when passing by starships, they didn’t hesitate to slash or unleash rune palms. Ku Mu had vast combat experience. He and Monier never stopped, moving like ghosts through space. Any armed soldiers or attack drones they encountered perished without exception—no one could escape.
Guo Shier targeted mothership-class starships—those massive vessels tens of thousands of meters long. The seven of them were incredibly combat-effective, and in just a few minutes, the starships were taken one after another. Chaos reigned inside the mothership-class starships. Through internal communications, along with various images and data, the commanders realized their fleet was doomed—by just seven people, seven individuals whose strength was unimaginable.
The fact that there were seven humans capable of moving freely in space filled everyone on the fleet with horror. They had no idea such formidable humans existed in this world—none of them had even heard of such people before. Only those at the rank of starship commander would be aware of them. Yet by now, the commander of the heavy starship already wanted to retreat. Come on, it had only been a few minutes—two large starships had lost contact, six medium-sized starships had been severely damaged, countless armed soldiers and thousands of attack drones had been killed. The losses were so massive that the commander could hardly accept them.
The starship commander was decisive. Realizing the situation was completely out of control, he immediately ordered a retreat. But what he didn’t expect was that the attack by those seven was extremely fierce. Before the heavy starship could turn around, Guo Shier and Celine had already reached above it.
Celine slashed away at a metal fortress that was firing wildly and asked, “Shier, how do we fight?”
Guo Shier used his moon blade to attack the surface of the starship. With a single slash, he exclaimed in surprise, “Not bad! It didn’t even break through at once! Try again!” Countless warriors clad in starlight armor launched suicide attacks. As soon as they got close, they would self-destruct. Unfortunately, this had no effect on Guo Shier. Since he could walk in empty space, his defense had reached an absurd level.
There was a loud explosion. Although no sound could be heard in space, those inside the starship could hear the sound of the hull breaking apart. Another slash was made, and the seven- to eight-meter-thick armor layer was completely shattered, with the blade piercing straight into the hull. However, the heavy starship was too large, and this single slash wasn’t enough to cause serious damage. After several more slashes, Guo Shier stopped. He flew forward with Celine and headed straight for the starship’s command cabin.
The starship commander and the captain of the heavy starship could clearly see the outside through the portholes—the extremely brutal battle scene made the officers in the command cabin break into cold sweats. They could only watch helplessly as one starship after another exploded and caught fire, as starships were split apart with strange weapons, and even as someone split a starship in two with a single slash. The brutality was truly terrifying.
The commander kept issuing orders, simultaneously ordering the third wave of the fleet to retreat immediately. He realized that those few people were definitely beyond their fleet’s ability to defeat. No matter how many they sent, it would be in vain. Unless someone could keep them occupied, there was no hope of victory. As soon as the order was given, an officer pointed fearfully outside the porthole and said, “That’s… who is that?”
Two people appeared outside the window—a man and a woman—who suddenly showed up in space outside the window. The gaze directed at them was extremely cold. Numerous mysterious runes surrounded the two of them, and two purple chains connected them together, looking extremely eerie. The man grinned, and a golden-red light flashed. Instantly, the window of the command cabin exploded, and a beam of light pierced straight in. In an instant, the command cabin was filled with dead and wounded. Guo Shier didn’t know that the fleet’s commander was here. He swung his sword downward, followed by a horizontal strike, instantly destroying the command cabin. The deaths of the commander and captain paralyzed the heavy starship completely. Alarms blared inside, and countless crew members began to abandon the ship and flee. In less than ten minutes, a fleet of sixteen starships was completely paralyzed. None of the starships could escape because Wang Dayang was still going wild, attacking everything that was alive or moving, using all his strength in his attacks. The transport ships and communication ships behind the fleet suffered greatly, turning into piles of space debris in no time. The seven gathered again. Li Ran still held three purple chains, tying up three people dressed in starlight armor. Guo Shier tapped his forehead lightly and said, “I forgot to kill them… By the way, where did Wang Dayang go? I saw him get hit just now. I don’t know if he’s in danger…” At that moment, Wang Dayang also arrived, looking rather pitiful. The long-range attacks of starships were absolutely formidable—they were weapons capable of attacking planets, and even top-level spellcasters would suffer greatly from them. Wang Dayang was unlucky because his altar was damaged. Unlike the world of spells, it was difficult to find suitable materials to repair it here. The massive loss of soul power had severely damaged Wang Dayang’s foundation, leaving his soul in a state of chaos. Guo Shier said, “Eat this spell pill first. It’s Soul-Nourishing Wood. I’ve already refined it. Put it on right away.” Wang Dayang nodded and said, “I was unlucky. I got hit. I didn’t expect the attacks from starships to be so powerful. I was careless.” Ku Mu and Monier returned together, having captured a few warriors dressed in starlight armor as well. Qi Wu Zhen said, “These people probably know only a little. It’s best to capture their superiors.” Guo Shier smiled and said, “It’s simple. Just go to the biggest starship. There must be many people inside, trying to escape… But they have nowhere to go!”
Cerisine asked, “Aren’t there more fleets coming?”
Guo Shier said, “Don’t worry. That fleet has already withdrawn. Let’s first find out why they attacked us. That attack was really baffling. Such a reckless assault must have some reason.”
Li Ran nodded and said, “Yeah, I’m also puzzled. They used a small fleet to attack us—there must be something wrong. Come, let’s go to that heavy starship. Who attacked it just now?”
Guo Shier smiled and said, “It was me and Cerisine. Hehe, I broke through their command cabin with just two slashes, so that starship was completely paralyzed.”
Li Ran gave a wry smile and said, “You might have killed their top commander. If we could capture the person in the command cabin, we’d probably understand everything. Let’s check if there are any survivors.”
Guo Shier curled his lips. In a fight like this, who would think too much? Just fight and that’s it.
Cerisine giggled happily. She was very pleased. Fighting alongside Guo Shier had restored much of her confidence. Having always been with these skilled professionals, her confidence had been severely shaken—her teammates were too strong, putting immense pressure on her. But after coming out of the passage this time, she had advanced rapidly, her strength greatly improved. Although not as good as Guo Shier and the others, she could now fight in space.
Li Ran led everyone to the heavy starship. As a mothership-class super-large starship, it wasn’t easy to destroy. Of course, if Qi Wuzhen set it on fire, it wouldn’t take long to burn it down. Right now, the starship was still in pretty good condition, except for a large crack on its back and a destroyed command cabin; the rest was mostly intact. So Li Ran led everyone in through the access passage of the attack ships.
As they went inside through the passage, they saw many crashed attack ships and numerous floating corpses. Soon they reached a gate. With a casual palm strike, Li Ran sent out a rune palm that smashed the gate open with a loud crash.
It was a metal gate a foot and a half thick, but it couldn’t withstand Li Ran’s palm strike at all. The captives who hadn’t managed to escape were stunned by what they saw—this was absolutely terrifying. They had originally planned to fight to the end, but Li Ran’s strike completely shook them awake.
By detecting the fluctuations of the soul, Li Ran moved skillfully through the starship. In moments, they arrived at a hangar. It was a huge warehouse filled with numerous attack drones and various star weapons, all stationed on the ground. Li Ran dragged a captive over and asked indifferently, “Will you take off your weapons by yourself, or shall I do it for you?”
