Chapter 3: Attack on the Starship (Part 1)
The crew aboard the starship were horrified to see it suddenly split open, with a powerful suction force pulling everyone and everything not secured into space. They were ordinary people with no chance of resisting, dying instantly in the vacuum.
Guo Shier laughed heartily. Though his voice couldn’t travel through space, Cereslin behind him heard it clearly and smiled, saying, “Shier, aim at the front of the starship!”
Following her command, the Moon Blade slashed down, instantly splitting the starship’s command cabin in two.
With just two attacks, Guo Shier had completely destroyed this starship. Although some people inside the compartments were temporarily safe, the ship had lost most of its combat capabilities and was no longer a threat. Yet, many soldiers in star armor continued to pour out of the ship, charging at Guo Shier frantically while launching various attacks.
Guo Shier smiled slightly and flicked his hand, sending out several Void Worms, which crashed straight into the crowd. He released four refined Void Worms in total, causing countless tiny spatial cracks to appear. Due to the extreme stability of space here, these cracks were as thin as hair strands and couldn’t last long—only about five or six seconds. Even so, their destructive power stunned Guo Shier.
A single refined Void Worm could create a trap about 100 meters in diameter in space, slicing anyone who passed by at that moment into pieces. Four such worms could form a small barrier, shattering any attack or attempt to pass through.
Five or six seconds might seem short, but in space, soldiers in star armor moved at incredible speeds. Often, they would pass by unnoticed, yet the slightest movement would instantly turn them and their armor into fragments of flesh and metal.
Like exploding fireworks, every attacker suddenly scattered in space, blooming like flowers in the void. Anyone who saw this scene couldn’t help but tremble—it was utterly bizarre.
In just five or six seconds, the four refined Void Worms had killed nearly a hundred soldiers in star armor, along with ten attack drones.
Guo Shier and Cereslin moved to the tail of another starship. He casually sent out a Void Worm aimed at its thrusters, and in an instant, the entire thruster was destroyed.
The first wave of attacks consisted of only seven medium-sized starships, but within just two minutes, they were destroyed under the fierce assault of those seven. Attackers and soldiers clad in star armor filled the air as all the starships were ruined. The worst-hit ship was the work of Qi Wu Zhen, who poured magical fire into it, turning the entire ship into a giant torch in space—burning from the stern to the bow. No matter how hard the crew tried to put out the fire, it was futile. After all, Qi Wu Zhen was a renowned master of fire magic in the world of spells; her fire could burn even in the void for a while.
A starship that was a kilometer long was reduced to less than 500 meters in length, turning into a huge metal strip floating in space.
Whether it was attack planes, small combat ships, or thousands of soldiers in star armor, everyone fled desperately. They could never have imagined that seven people could easily destroy seven medium-sized starships, five of which were attack ships—something utterly terrifying. No one dared to fight such enemies; even the bravest warriors wouldn’t think of resisting them.
It was like sending an unarmed person to fight someone equipped with advanced star armor—there was no comparison at all. No matter how brave or fearless they were, they wouldn’t want to fight; escaping was the only right choice. As for whether they could escape, that depended on each person’s luck.
Li Ran’s team had no intention of sparing anyone. They were extremely angry—the Ling Kingdom’s sudden attack had driven these seven people mad. Thanks to their rapid advancement after entering the passage, everyone’s strength had soared, filling them with unprecedented confidence; they dismissed any enemy as insignificant. In this state, they hesitated not at all and charged forward bravely, using every means possible. In moments, most of the attack planes and combat ships were destroyed, leaving the space filled with debris and trash.
Out of the seven starships, only two remained intact; the rest were shattered. Even those two barely intact ships were in a terrible condition—one had its hull torn open, with a huge crack running from the bow to the stern. Countless corpses and metal fragments floated not far above the ship.
After chasing for a while, the seven reunited. Qi Wu Zhen said, “It’s frustrating. Let’s go straight for them—their second wave of starships is already very close!”
Li Ran nodded and said, “Since they want to kill us, then we needn’t hold back. In the Greater World… once conflict arises with a nation, it ends in a fight to the death. They have extensive networks and resources, as well as a massive military force. If we try to run, we’ll be at a severe disadvantage. Let’s kill them!”
Ku Mu simply said one word: “Kill!”
Wang Dayang gave a bitter smile but didn’t object either. He realized these guys had extreme killing intent and couldn’t help but sigh—truly, whoever provoked them brought misfortune upon themselves by encountering such deadly foes.
Guo Shier said, “We’d better split up and prevent the starships’ long-range weapons from being effective… Damn it, here they come again!” He and Sericlin vanished instantly from their spot, while the others scattered and used teleportation to evade.
Several beams of light struck, but the seven of them had already disappeared. The starship behind them, torn apart, was hit by the beams and exploded violently, turning into sparks and debris flying everywhere. There were actually quite a few survivors on that starship, but no one could possibly have survived such a powerful attack. Even if the starship had been intact, such high-intensity long-range attacks could destroy its defense shields and severely damage its hull, let alone a damaged wreck like this.
The seven of them separated and rushed toward the approaching starships. The second wave consisted of sixteen starships, including one heavy starship—which, according to Guo Shier, was likely an aircraft carrier-class vessel, over ten thousand meters long, making the other starships seem relatively small in comparison. Besides this heavy carrier-class ship, there were two large starships, eight medium-sized starships, and, like the first wave, the other five were not combat vessels but communication, supply, and transport ships.
Since the seven members of Li Ran’s team had scattered, the starships couldn’t lock onto them, so the starship battle group resorted to their most despicable tactic: a blanket attack. As long as any sign of people was detected, all long-range attacks would be unleashed to cover the entire area.
Wang Dayang suffered the most first. He had been a bit careless and kept dodging within the attack range. Of the seven, he had the weakest killing intent, yet he took the most attacks and couldn’t help but curse loudly. The long-range attacks from the starships were terrifyingly powerful. Even though Wang Dayang wasn’t hit head-on, just grazing his defenses sent him tumbling through the air.
His rune defense shield shattered first, followed by his defense talisman suffering heavy damage. Just as he managed to stabilize things, another beam of light struck. Wang Dayang let out a scream and quickly teleported away.
But Wang Dayang was extremely unlucky. As soon as he appeared in space, remote attacks from all directions hit him. In an instant, he was engulfed in flames with countless runes flying everywhere. Wang Dayang spat out a mouthful of blood. The altar suddenly expanded, and he found himself sitting on it. Countless runes flashed around, and he activated his defense to the maximum, yet more attacks struck the altar. In space, his target was extremely visible, and more starships locked onto him. Li Ran was almost at the group of starships. Seeing Wang Dayang under attack, he shouted, “Idiot… dodge quickly!” He rushed toward the lead starship, a medium-sized one that kept firing remote attacks, its bow-mounted cannons blasting relentlessly. Guo Shier was still nearly ten thousand meters away from the starships. Realizing Wang Dayang was in a desperate situation, he couldn’t help but shout, “Get out of the way!” But his voice couldn’t travel through space at all. Knowing he wouldn’t make it in time to rescue him, he used two quick teleportations to rush toward the starship. He understood well that the best defense was offense. His Moon Blade transformed into a thousand-meter-long crimson streak of light, slashing downward. Qi Wu Zhen’s face turned red with anger as she cursed, “Damn you!” She charged at a large starship, which was three thousand meters long—a massive vessel. Ku Mu pulled Monier along and silently approached the group of starships from below. He said, “Let’s work together to take down that starship above first!” Wang Dayang barely withstood another wave of attacks. At that moment, he felt life was worse than death. Almost all the power of the altar had been depleted, and it rapidly shrank before vanishing into his body. The altar was severely damaged, causing him extreme pain. How could he restore it? But now wasn’t the time to hesitate. Relying on the altar’s strong defense, he had survived one wave of attacks, but if another came, he knew he might die right there. After continuous teleportations, Wang Dayang finally escaped the range of remote attacks. He spat out more blood, his soul in disarray. He knew he had been critically injured. With a sigh, he glared hatefully at the distant group of starships and said, “Heh, never thought it would end like this. Well, since that’s the case… let’s fight to the death!”
In front of Qi Wu Zhen stood hundreds of warriors clad in star-armored suits. She smirked coldly and said, “Die!” In an instant, countless light dots shot out. The warriors in the star-armored suits were horrified as urgent alarm sounds rang out; they had no way to dodge, and soon flames rose. Even in space, the star-armored suits could be ignited by flames, turning into space debris in just a few moments. One after another, the incoming warriors were set ablaze. They couldn’t resist or escape at all. Once they entered Qi Wu Zhen’s effective attack range, there was no escape possible. No matter what kind of star-armored suit it was, not even the latest models could withstand it. Initially, Qi Wu Zhen wasn’t that powerful, but ever since she entered the Void and advanced in the Greater World, her strength had grown rapidly again, making it easy for her to deal with these warriors in star-armored suits.
