Chapter 6: Lan Landai (Part 1)
Guo Shier also never expected that a simple soul shock could scare two top experts into teleporting away. He immediately realized that whether it was the Void Worms or experts from other races, they were particularly sensitive to soul attacks—unlike the Spellcrafters, where top professionals didn’t necessarily have to be soul masters. He thought to himself that he should develop some soul-based attack methods in the future.
After Lan Landai teleported away, Qi Wu Zhen’s attacks lost their target and exploded into countless sparks in the air. Qi Wu Zhen’s expression turned even colder as he said, “Run? Let’s see where you can run!” Rubbing his hands together, he sent out numerous runes, causing countless sparks to float around, dancing in the air like fireflies at midnight.
As soon as Lan Landai reappeared, she saw sparks flying everywhere. She paid them no mind, thinking they were leftover from the extinguished fire snake. Doubtful, she glanced at Li Ran and the others and suddenly realized that these people weren’t easy targets—they couldn’t be defeated with just one blow. What was worse was Xing Yun Zi nearby; he was the real threat.
Then Qi Wu Zhen shouted, “Burn!”
The sparks in the air suddenly ignited into raging flames that rushed toward Lan Landai.
Furious, Lan Landai didn’t try to dodge. Instead, she sneered, “These flames… you think they can burn me? Fine, let them burn—see if they can even scratch me!” She remained motionless, waiting calmly for the flames to touch her.
In an instant, Lan Landai became like a burning torch.
Xing Yun Zi was utterly stunned. He muttered, “What the hell is this?”
Li Ran suddenly sensed danger and shouted, “We retreat!” He led everyone back quickly. Qi Wu Zhen tried several spells but found he couldn’t burn this strange woman. She knew well that once trapped in spellfire, even top experts would struggle, yet she remained unharmed. How strong was her body? It was unbelievable.
But no one realized that Lan Landai was also holding on by a thread. She hadn’t expected the flames to be so powerful. After trying several defensive methods, the flames nearly reached her body. Eventually, she couldn’t bear it any longer and had to enter the void, relying on its power to extinguish the flames. The time it took her to enter and exit the void was just a few seconds, but it left her in a terrible state. With a cold laugh, she said, “Good, good! I didn’t expect there to be such skilled people here. Xing Yun Zi, do you want to fight me?”
Xing Yunzi said, “Who the hell wants to go to war with you? It’s you who keeps pestering me!”
Lan Landai cursed, “Bastard, who’s pestering you? Give me the Spirit Spring, and I’ll leave right away, no matter what kind of creature you are!”
Xing Yunzi replied, “First, it was I who found the Spirit Spring and took it. In the wild, whatever one gets belongs to them—it’s unclaimed property. Why should I give it to you? Second, I’ve already traded it away! Even if I wanted to, I no longer have it!”
Li Ran and the others ignored the arguing pair and began discussing among themselves.
Qi Wu Zhen said, “This woman is extremely powerful. I’m confident I can deal with her, but I definitely can’t win.” For the first time, she lost confidence in her own abilities.
Li Ran nodded, frowning, and said, “I still can’t remember what race these two are, nor do I recall any such formidable experts in the Greater World. They’re too strong.”
Guo Shier said, “They do have weaknesses—they have no resistance to soul attacks!”
Everyone’s eyes lit up immediately. Although the Spellcraft Clan rarely used soul attacks at the Altar level because their effects were not obvious, these attacks were meant for their own elite members. Since they were confined to their own territory and had no chance to interact with people from the Greater World, they didn’t bother developing soul attack skills. But that didn’t mean they lacked any such techniques—there was still a small amount of knowledge in their inherited memories. Once they recovered, they could learn and master them.
In fact, Guo Shier knew well that the soul was the most mysterious element. There was only one race that understood the soul as well as the Spellcraft Clan. Even though Xing Yunzi had a powerful soul, he wasn’t good at using it, which could be seen at a glance.
Li Ran said, “Everyone, quickly search your inherited memories for methods of soul attacks. Anyway, we can’t stay passive like this.”
The seven of them hovered in the air, neither leaving nor speaking, quietly watching the two arguing not far away. Except for Sericeline, everyone was anxiously searching through their inherited memories. It should be noted that inherited memories were merely fragments of memory that required the owner to recognize and learn them—they weren’t something one could automatically master upon inheritance. Inheritance was merely a way to speed up learning, which was already a remarkable method of learning.
When Lan Landai heard that the Spirit Spring had been traded away, her face turned ashen. She screamed and said, “I don’t care if it’s been traded or not—anyway, one Spirit Spring belongs to me! Even if one has been traded, you… you bastard… there’s still another one! Give me that one!”
Xing Yunzi replied calmly, “Dream on!”
Furious, Lan Landai rushed at him, unleashing a beam of white light—unknown what she used to attack with. Xing Yunzi vanished in a flash. The white light fell from the sky and struck the ground with a deafening explosion, causing the earth to crack and space to tremble. The space here was already unstable, and with Lan Landai’s attack, countless cracks appeared.
Li Ran cursed and led everyone to take cover quickly. They felt this place was dangerous and couldn’t stay any longer. After testing earlier, they were confident they could withstand the opponent’s attacks, so there was no need to stay. They flew away at high speed.
Neither Xing Yunzi nor Lan Landai paid attention. They clashed back and forth, creating chaos in just a few moments. Their attacks were utterly monstrous.
Guo Shier repeatedly glanced back while using soul waves to detect their surroundings. They flew faster and faster, eager to leave as soon as possible.
After about ten minutes, the fight between the two was completely out of sight, with only faint thunder sounds remaining, as if reminding everyone that those two insane men and woman were still fighting fiercely.
It was only then that Sericeline caught her breath. She exclaimed in awe, “So amazing! What terrifying people…” Her tone was filled with admiration. In fact, she admired Guo Shier and the others even more—fearless in the face of such terrifying foes, ready to fight back no matter the odds. Their determination was truly admirable.
Guo Shier said thoughtfully, “Our horizons are still too narrow. Meeting someone like this is of great help to us—it at least shows us that even more powerful experts exist.”
Li Ran nodded. “I know the true experts in the greater world are extremely powerful. I never expected to see one before even leaving the projection world. Heh, if it weren’t for the unstable space here, those two might not have discovered us. Well, once we develop soul attacks, I believe… we won’t be at a disadvantage in the next fight!” He didn’t dare say they could definitely defeat them, but with soul attacks, they could at least make the opponent cautious.
Boom!
A dark curtain rose from afar, and everyone understood what was happening.
Withered Wood said, “Perverts!”
Monier shook her head and said, “I never thought they could collapse space. Sigh, if I encountered them alone, I wouldn’t have the confidence to fight them. Their attacks carry the power to shatter space—something I can’t handle.”
Li Ran and Qi Wu Zhen were also deeply impressed. Collapsing space directly was beyond even the power of breaking boundaries. Those two were incredibly strong, their strength utterly despairing; even with unstable space, they doubted they could accomplish such a feat.
Soon, another burst of thunder rang out, and the dark curtain suddenly expanded. Li Ran cursed, “Go! Damn it, those two lunatics!”
Whether it was Xingyun Zi or Lanlandai, they could move through void space and didn’t care about space collapsing, but Li Ran and the others couldn’t. If they got trapped in the void, they knew they wouldn’t last long. Without finding stable space to enter, they would die in the void, so they absolutely had to avoid it.
The seven of them rushed forward desperately. The speed at which space collapsed was unimaginable. As experienced individuals, they certainly wouldn’t put themselves in such a desperate situation. As soon as they sensed something wrong, they fled frantically.
At that moment, the greatest danger wasn’t the collapsing space behind them but the space cracks ahead. So, whether it was Guo Shier or Li Ran, almost everyone sent out waves of soul vibrations to detect the dangers ahead.
Qi Wu Zhen suddenly shouted, “Be careful… turn left!”
The Five-Star Formation skillfully turned, avoiding the danger in an instant. Immediately afterward, Guo Shier ordered, “Fly right!” The Five-Star Formation changed direction right away. In just a few seconds, they saw a large area of space cracks not far ahead.
Everyone was extremely tense. If they plunged into that area of space cracks at this speed, there was no need to think—the seven of them would instantly turn into piles of flying flesh. Everyone understood the power of space cracks.
Six of the seven kept sending out probing soul vibrations, allowing them to detect any danger in time. Even if one missed something, someone else would notice. Thus, despite their incredible speed, they managed to avoid the dangers.
They flew nonstop for over an hour before Li Ran finally said, “Stop! Stop!”
They hovered in midair. Wang Dayang said, “Heh, this speed… I rarely use it even outside. It’s too exhausting.”
Qi Wuzhen said, “We should get rid of those two guys.”
Guo Shier said, “We can’t fly at this speed ahead; it’s too dangerous. We have to turn almost every few minutes. If we keep flying at this speed, problems will arise sooner or later.”
Kumu said, “Keep going, but at a slower speed.”
