Chapter 4: Xing Yunzi (Part 2)
Li Ran smiled and took out several top-tier rune-sealed talismans, saying, “This… you can give it a try.”
Xing Yunzi picked it up and curiously watched the runes swirling on it, saying, “Huh, it can remain intact like this…” As he gently touched it, the runes instantly collapsed. He threw the talisman back into his mouth and tasted it directly.
Seshilin watched curiously, thinking, “This man is really bold—daring to swallow it right away without fearing poisoning.”
Xing Yunzi’s eyes lit up as he praised, “Great stuff! It’ll be useful to me!”
Li Ran said, “These are top-tier talismans, much better than those earlier.”
Xing Yunzi nodded and said, “These can be used for trading. Is there anything else?”
Everyone looked at him without speaking. Xing Yunzi chuckled awkwardly and nodded, “It seems I need to show some sincerity too.” With that, he took out a few items.
One was a piece of metal cut into a square shape, somewhat resembling jade. It was about the size of the matchbox Guo Shier used in his past life, with a smooth milky white surface emitting a faint glow—there were roughly twenty of them. Another was a liquid in a small transparent bottle, dark blue in color, also glowing faintly. Finally, there was a piece of metal about one meter long, two fingers thick, and the width of a palm, emitting a pale blue glow.
Guo Shier grabbed the metal piece first, Li Ran took the jade-like object, and Qi Wuzhen picked up the bottle of liquid.
Xing Yunzi explained, “This kind of metal isn’t produced outside; it was obtained accidentally from the void. Well, I’m not sure if you can use it, but it’s definitely very rare. You’ll have to discover its properties on your own.”
“This is Sky Clear Liquid, which can be used to strengthen the body and refine the mind.”
“That’s Spirit Jade, containing immense energy. If you can find a way to utilize it, heh, it’s quite useful.”
Finally, Xing Yunzi said, “If you have anything worth trading, heh, I have quite a few similar items.”
Guo Shier said, “I need to test this metal.”
Xing Yunzi stretched out his hand and said, “Go ahead and test it, heh.” Once trading began, he seemed like a different person—the imposing cold aura disappeared, and he became very amiable, acting like a businessman. After all, in business, kindness leads to prosperity.
Guo Shier nodded. The metal block in his hand vanished suddenly as he placed it into the altar to be tested by the old man. The old man had been waiting; as soon as he got the metal block, he entered the secret realm of the altar, holding the metal block in one hand and the Jiebaina Pearl in the other, and immediately began the test.
Xing Yunzi glanced at him curiously and asked, “How will you test it?”
Guo Shier smiled and said, “It’ll be quick. We’ll have the results in a moment.” After thinking for a while, he took out a sealed Void Worm and asked, “Have you seen something like this before?”
Xing Yunzi took it and examined it briefly before exclaiming in surprise, “How do you have such a thing? This should be…” He said a word that no one understood.
Guo Shier said, “We call it a Void Worm.”
Xing Yunzi shook his head slightly. “That name isn’t accurate, but it doesn’t matter. This kind of worm can only survive in unstable spaces and definitely can’t endure for long in true void. These worms are extremely rare because unstable spaces rarely produce them—many lives must die for such worms to emerge by chance. Impressive that you’ve managed to catch some; these can be used for trading.”
Everyone’s faces lit up. They all realized that this guy still didn’t know there were many Void Worms here. Despite their thorough searches, there must still be quite a few left.
Guo Shier said with a smile, “Hmm. If we use these Void Worms for trading, how many would be needed… to exchange for these things?”
Li Ran and Qi Wu Zhen had already tested the Spirit Jade and Tianqing Liquid and knew they were extremely rare. Moreover, both could be combined with runes, meaning they could be used to enhance spells. This was very important—once spells could be enhanced, it meant these items had great utility.
The old man also reached a conclusion: that metal was incredibly magical and could be used to forge Moon Blades, endowing them with void properties, something unattainable in the world of spells.
Xing Yunzi pondered for a moment before saying, “Ten Void Worms can be exchanged for one piece of Void Metal. Spirit Jade is one-for-one. Tianqing Liquid is one hundred-for-one. Crafting these items is extremely troublesome.”
Guo Shier tried hard to hide his excitement. He didn’t haggle, as the number of Void Worms they had collected was at least in the tens of thousands.
Xing Yunzi continued, “What I need are primitive Void Worms—those that haven’t been processed by you. That’s a prerequisite.”
The group still didn’t have time to refine Void Worms; most of what they had were worms in their original sealed state. Guo Shier also had only refined a small number, mostly done by the old master Shuai—just a little over ten thousand in total, with the vast majority still in their original sealed state. Hearing this, he nodded and said, “No problem! We’ll exchange as many as you have!”
Xing Yunzi was taken aback upon hearing this and said, “I have a lot of items! These are just a few of them. Of course, I want as many Void Worms as I can get. Hehe, these things are truly rare. Even as I’ve traveled through the void, I’ve never seen a single one. They’re legendary.” He showed no hesitation in his desire for Void Worms. With his strength and status, he saw no need to pretend; he spoke completely honestly, and surely no one would dare trick him.
Guo Shier said, “Great!”
The group began trading. Soon, Xing Yunzi was surprised because everyone here could produce many Void Worms. Of course, Serichelin was an exception—she didn’t have the ability to capture them. But if she wanted them, Guo Shier would help her exchange for them. He had no trouble parting with these Void Worms.
For Void Metal, he exchanged for twenty pieces. For Sky Clear Liquid, he got four bottles. It wasn’t that Guo Shier didn’t want to exchange more, but Xing Yunzi had a limited supply, and others also needed to trade. For Spirit Jade, he exchanged for a thousand pieces.
This exchange left Xing Yunzi beaming with joy. He knew well how precious Void Worms were. The biggest problem was that even if he had them, it would be difficult for him to capture them. Killing Void Worms was easy for him, but capturing them was not—after all, he didn’t have the rune seals unique to the Spellcraft Clan. Still eager, he said, “Are there any more Void Worms? I can bring a few more items to trade.”
Guo Shier smiled and said, “Sure, why not? Hehe.”
Xing Yunzi thought for a moment before bringing out a few more items and saying, “These are some very special metals. You can test them. If you need them, I’ll exchange them for Void Worms.”
These metals seemed to have been specially refined. Guo Shier had never seen them before. One of them was as light as cotton and as soft as dough, allowing it to be shaped at will in the hand—very interesting. Guo Shier decided to put them on the altar first and have the old master Shuai test them.
Xing Yunzi said, “This is a mass of Cold Silkworm Silk, which I obtained from a space filled with ice and snow. It’s produced by a kind of cold silkworm. Hehe, those silkworms are ten meters long, and the silk they spin is excellent. After refinement, it can be used to weave silk clothes with outstanding protective properties.”
“This is a bone from a cosmic star beast. I’ve collected quite a few of them. Their toughness is beyond imagination. The most precious part is that they contain magical energy. If one can activate this energy, heh, anything made from it can become a rare treasure. This energy also has a healing effect on the body. Even if turned into bone beads, wearing them would be extremely valuable.”
A bone from a cosmic star beast was about three feet long, one foot high, and one and a half feet wide, with a neatly cut shape. Actually, this bone was accidentally obtained by Xingyunzi. It was part of a huge fragment that was thousands of meters long. By splitting that fragment, tens of thousands of bones were obtained. He had tried to refine them, but unfortunately couldn’t activate the energy inherent in the bones. In his collection, they were like useless items—tasteless to eat and a pity to discard.
Xingyunzi didn’t understand the professionals of the talisman clan. They might struggle to find a way using other things, but when it came to ancient bones, they were experts at the master level. So when he said it was a bone from a cosmic star beast, the eyes of the six people turned red. Guo Shier tried to suppress his joy and asked, “How do we exchange it?”
“One for one… uh, two for one!”
Guo Shier said, “Alright. Two Void Worms in exchange for one bone. As many as there are.”
Xingyunzi was initially stunned, then overjoyed. His intention was exactly the opposite of Guo Shier’s. He had originally planned to exchange two bones for one sealed Void Worm. Unexpectedly, Guo Shier said that, and he quickly replied, “Exchange! Exchange! Um, as many as there are?” Not sure enough, he asked again.
Guo Shier replied without hesitation, “As many as there are!”
Overjoyed, Xingyunzi said, “I have a total of 13,800 here! Let’s round it down to 13,000. How about that?”
As he said the number, Xingyunzi was still uncertain whether the other party had that many Void Worms.
To his surprise, the six people said in unison, “Okay!” This startled Xingyunzi.
Soon, everyone divided up their shares, and the transaction was completed in no time. This left Xingyunzi both delighted and puzzled. He couldn’t understand how these guys had so many Void Worms, as if they were endless. No matter how many items they offered, as long as they thought they were useful, they would exchange them for sealed Void Worms—however many they wanted.
Many cold silkworms were also exchanged by everyone, along with some strange items; only a few that were incompatible with spells were discarded. Guo Shier’s collecting habit flared up again—even useless things had to be collected, just in case they might be useful later. He knew well that Xing Yunzi was undoubtedly a person of great power, as most of the items he collected were compatible with spells, none of them useless, all extremely rare. So the other items should be pretty good as well.
Even though Xing Yunzi needed Void Worms desperately, after receiving tens of thousands of them, he still wanted to exchange for something else. He said, “Is there anything else I can exchange? Hehe, I’ve had enough Void Worms.”
Li Ran and the others couldn’t help but laugh. It was indeed amusing—although Void Worms were precious, having a few more or fewer didn’t make much difference. Guo Shier smiled and said, “I have a spell flame here. Do you need it?”
A wisp of purple flame emerged from Guo Shier’s fingertips.
Xing Yunzi, who had seen much, immediately recognized the uniqueness of this flame. After examining it carefully for a while, he was stunned. After a long pause, he said, “Purple exotic flame… Good heavens, this exists too?”
Guo Shier asked curiously, “Have you never seen this flame before?”
