Chapter 6: The Power of Breaking Through (Part 1)

Guo Shieru looked gloomily at the screen not far away. Li Ran sighed and said, “I didn’t expect it to turn out like this.” The entire spatial rift had shrunk by countless times, but it was no longer intact—it had split into strands, fluttering in the wind like torn cloth. Though it looked beautiful, with interchanging lights and strange patterns, the four of them knew well just how terrifying it was.
The huge trench on the ground was still there, but the other side could now be seen; it wasn’t as wide anymore. Under the light of the screen, the cliff walls shone like gems.
The spatial rift, torn into countless fragments, spanned the entire trench, with countless gaps in between. Yet Li Ran and the others didn’t dare cross it rashly. After a quick calculation, they realized the thickness of the rift was over a kilometer. If they didn’t control themselves carefully, they might plunge into it while trying to cross—which would be a huge problem. Even with the Breakthrough Protection, forcing their way through was uncertain as to where they’d end up.
Li Ran clicked his tongue and said, “Forget it. Flying along the rift isn’t suitable here.”
Qi Wuzhen frowned slightly and said, “We’ve been flying nonstop for over a day. This spatial rift is simply too large.”
Guo Shieru sighed and said, “This place really isn’t suitable. Let’s keep moving and see what else there is.”
Qi Wuzhen had no choice but to nod. “Alright, let’s continue. Hopefully, we won’t go too far… It’s troublesome. Just one spatial rift has already posed such a challenge to us. If anything else happens… this place is truly dangerous.”
Sericeline remained silent. In a place like this, she couldn’t come up with any useful suggestions, so she wisely stayed quiet and just followed.
The four continued flying toward the left. About two hours later, Sericeline couldn’t help but say, “Hey, it seems there’s a change!”
The spatial rift was getting smaller. Although there were still countless tiny rifts, the largest one, resembling the screen, had shrunk. The huge trench cut into the ground was also gradually narrowing, and the view on the other side became clearer. Guo Shieru estimated that the distance between the two banks was at most a hundred meters.
A width of less than a hundred meters meant the spatial rift had shrunk considerably. The four continued flying forward.

After flying for a while, they saw that the grooves on the ground had gradually disappeared, leaving only countless crisscrossing cracks. Though not wide, they were numerous and bottomless. The light barrier formed by the spatial cracks had shattered into countless tiny cracks. If it weren’t for Guo Shier and the others’ extraordinary vision, they would never have noticed the numerous tiny cracks in the air. Different from the spatial cracks they had seen earlier, these ones were more dense and chaotic.

The four of them flew a further distance and found something even more unusual—the tiny spatial cracks had spread. What had originally been a single layer of cracks resembling a curtain now consisted of countless thread-thin cracks everywhere, in the sky and on the ground. They dared not fly any further and had to stop to discuss the situation.

“We can’t get through!” Guo Shier said firmly after observing carefully.

Li Ran sighed and said, “It seems we have no choice but to use Break Boundary.”

Qi Wu Zhen said, “Then let’s use it once. Fortunately, it’s not crossing realms; it’s just breaking these tiny spatial cracks. There shouldn’t be much of a problem, and it won’t consume too much spiritual energy.”

Li Ran nodded and said, “It will at least consume hundreds of spiritual energies. If we’re unlucky, it might even take thousands.”

Selin was confused and asked, “What are spiritual energies? What is Break Boundary?”

Guo Shier explained, “Think of it as energy. As for Break Boundary, it can be considered a type of weapon.”

Selin nodded vaguely. After a while, she added, “If we had used it earlier, we wouldn’t have had to fly such a long distance…” She didn’t understand anything at all.

Guo Shier shook his head and said, “Using it earlier would have been too costly. Using it here is more appropriate. Actually, it’s best if we can avoid using it altogether.”

Li Ran didn’t waste any more time. He activated Break Boundary, and together with Qi Wu Zhen, they chanted spells. Selin watched in astonishment as countless golden and silver runes disappeared into Break Boundary, causing the entire barrier to glow brightly and form a spindle-shaped light shield. Guo Shier pulled her along and rushed into the shield, saying, “Hold onto my hand tightly. Don’t let go. It will be over soon.”

Selin clearly saw that the light swirling at the front of Break Boundary formed a sharp cone, which gave her a terrifying feeling. If she could see the tiny spatial cracks, she would have noticed that the light vanished instantly upon touching them. That was the power of Break Boundary.

Li Ran and Qi Wu Zhen hovered on either side of the Rift, one on each side. This time, Li Ran didn’t activate the Rift’s maximum form—after all, it wasn’t for crossing dimensions but to use its power to destroy those spatial cracks. The spells they cast quickly landed on the Rift, and their hands seemed to spew out springs of water; countless runes formed torrents that struck the Rift, causing it to expand rapidly.

Ceciline murmured, “Wow, it’s so beautiful…”

Li Ran said, “Guo Shier, protect Ceciline. We’re ready to go.”

Guo Shier took Ceciline by the hand, still a bit worried, so he released a purple chain to keep her behind him. Ceciline’s face turned red as she felt like an object. She could sense the power of the purple chain holding her firmly in place, so she hugged Guo Shier’s arm and said, “I won’t hold you back…” Her voice was so soft that even Guo Shier couldn’t hear her clearly.

With a loud crash, Li Ran shouted, “Go!” Amid the roar, the Rift activated and rushed forward.

Cracks filled the air as countless tiny spatial fractures were instantly shattered, turning into a beam of light that rushed through in an instant.

Ceciline looked back and saw countless lights flashing behind her—those were the flashes from the spatial fractures being forcibly destroyed. Now she could clearly see those previously invisible fractures disappearing. Suddenly, she exclaimed in amazement, “Wow… wow… look! Look!”

Guo Shier turned around abruptly and was also shocked. As the Rift moved forward, a spatial fracture appeared behind them and kept expanding rapidly. Terrified, he shouted, “Hurry! Brother, hurry… there’s danger behind us!”

The space in this area was already unstable, and the Rift’s forced passage immediately caused further fragmentation. Li Ran and Qi Wu Zhen glanced back, their expressions changing as they realized something was wrong. They quickly cast several spells to unleash even more power from the Rift. At this moment, they couldn’t afford to spare any energy, nor could they fall into the void—because once inside, it was unknown how much energy would be consumed to get out, and it might even drain the secrets hidden within the Rift, which would be a real loss.

That spatial rift formed rapidly, as if sliced by a blade, with the blade’s edge chasing after the rift. Guo Shier felt as though he were piloting a speedboat, with the spatial rift behind him resembling the trail left by the boat cutting through waves. The faster the rift moved, the faster it split the space, causing his heartbeat to quicken. Seraphine’s face turned pale; she didn’t know just how powerful the rift was, but she had seen how spatial rifts could kill people.

This was truly earth-shattering— the rift flew ahead, while the spatial rift extended behind it, instantly creating a huge crack in the ground, like an invisible giant blade slicing through butter, splitting the earth in an instant.

Guo Shier shouted, “Change direction… try it!”

Li Ran and Qi Wu Zhen exchanged a glance. Li Ran immediately increased the power of the talisman, while Qi Wu Zhen remained motionless. The rift promptly changed direction, shifting slightly to the right. Guo Shier stared intently behind him and exclaimed, “It works!”

The spatial rift continued to extend in its original direction, and the two gradually separated. But soon, another spatial rift appeared behind the rift.

Seraphine clung tightly to Guo Shier’s arm, shouting, “Another one… another one! Another spatial rift! What should we do?”

Guo Shier, Li Ran, and Qi Wu Zhen all realized that this rift was caused by the rift itself. Because its power was too immense, the space couldn’t withstand it, so wherever the rift passed, the space would split.

Li Ran ordered, “Stay calm! Don’t panic!”

Guo Shier wrapped his arms around Seraphine, who was in complete chaos. He growled, “Stop screaming; we’ll find a way.” In his mind, even if they were swallowed by space, as long as the rift existed, they wouldn’t be in danger. At worst, they’d end up in another place. As for the lost spirit energy and secrets, those could be sacrificed—survival came first.

It was Li Ran and Qi Wu Zhen who remained calm. Qi Wu Zhen said, “We must shut down the rift, otherwise the spatial rifts behind us will keep appearing endlessly, possibly causing the entire space to collapse.”

Li Ran nodded. “Exactly. Once this rift gets long enough, it could collapse the entire space. Let’s reduce its power.”

The two began to gradually control the rift, weakening its power. Soon, they saw results—the spatial rift behind them shrank as the rift’s power diminished, no longer growing wildly.

Guo Shier smiled and said, “Haha, it works… But space rifts are still forming. We must find a way to get out.” As the power of the barrier weakened, the space rifts behind them gradually shrank. Protected by the barrier, the four of them wouldn’t be in danger even if the rifts caught up with them. Gradually, the barrier’s power diminished until it was almost gone. Li Ran and Qi Wu Zhen cast fewer and fewer spells, most of which were used to suppress the barrier’s strength. The light shield formed by the barrier was now almost at the four of them. Although the space rifts still pursued them, their speed had clearly slowed, and the four of them gradually pulled ahead. Li Ran said, “I’ll soon retract the barrier. Remember… when I count to three, fly immediately to the left. Use teleportation… Shier, you need to teleport with Seraphine—otherwise, she won’t be able to escape…” Guo Shier responded with an acknowledgment. At that moment, Seraphine was still hanging on him, no longer holding his arms but his waist. He said, “Don’t let go, or I won’t be able to save you.”
