Chapter 9: The Boring Handsome Old Man (Part 2)
Guo Shier released his grip and said, “Hmm, if you’re going to the Tianluo Ruins, just follow us.”
Sericeline sighed in relief, though she felt a hint of disappointment. For some reason, in Guo Shier’s arms, she had felt warm and comfortable. She didn’t know if it was due to her soul—she had never experienced such a feeling before. Countless men had hugged her before, and she had only felt irritation and aversion, never comfort.
Sericeline agreed gently and stood obediently beside Guo Shier, looking like a dependent little bird. The others didn’t know what to say, filled with envy and resentment—except for Li Ran and Qi Wuzhen.
After just a few exchanges, the back-and-forth dialogue took quite some time. Tulata said, “Let’s go back. Hehe, my lords, please.”
They returned to the hall, where a servant reported, “Lord Tulata, Lord Knife Madman has left the manor.”
Tulata frowned slightly. He didn’t want to offend such a skilled warrior at all. He asked, “Did Lord Knife Madman leave any message when he left?”
The servant replied respectfully, “Lord Knife Madman left no message. He simply drove away in his flying vehicle.”
Tulata glanced secretly at Sericeline. She had no expression on her face, as if she hadn’t heard anything, seemingly indifferent. He couldn’t help but think to himself, “She’s too cold-hearted. After all, the two of them were together before, and they got along well. Now they seem like strangers.”
Waving his hand to send the servant away, Tulata said, “It will take some time to reach the Tianluo Ruins. Everyone can rest. Also, if you need any supplies, just tell me, and I’ll instruct my subordinates to handle it. Hehe, as long as it’s within our Mechanical Clan’s capabilities, there won’t be any problem.”
Guo Shier said, “No need for supplies. We’ve already gotten what we needed from Lord Stan. If you have any unique weapons, I might be interested.”
Tulata replied eagerly, “Yes, yes! We have many weapons here. Hehe, I’ll have someone bring them over.” He ordered his subordinates to bring a book. This surprised Guo Shier, as he had rarely seen books along the way. He took it with a smile. It was a very strange book, its pages made of soft metal. It was a thin book, and as he flipped through a page, the contents gradually appeared.
Automatic demonstration: from static weapons to dynamic videos, everything is recorded on one page, with each page featuring a different weapon, all very clearly shown. Guo Shier read through it once. Although it was slightly inferior to the records of the Spellcraft Clan and jade talismans, this method of recording was already much more advanced than what Guo Shier had seen on Earth. A single book contained records of hundreds of weapons. Out of pure curiosity, fun, and a collecting habit, he selected over a dozen unique weapons.
Tulata immediately ordered her subordinates to fetch them. Sericeline was very curious and couldn’t help asking, “Brother Shier, why do we need weapons from the Mechanical Clan? I remember no race has weapons as refined as those of the Spellcraft Clan. You have spells that can enhance weapons—those are the best. These weapons… their power is really weak; they can’t threaten true experts. What’s the use?”
Guo Shier smiled and said, “I like them.” He was too lazy to explain and used that as an answer.
Sericeline was speechless. She cooed, “Brother…”
Guo Shier shuddered and said, “Don’t call me brother anymore… It sounds awkward to me. Call me Lord Shier! Understand?”
Sericeline asked in confusion, “Aren’t men supposed to like it when women call them that?”
Guo Shier replied bluntly, “I’m not a man… uh…” Realizing he had made a mistake, he quickly added, “I’m different from them. I’m a man who goes his own way. Do you understand?”
Sericeline shook her head repeatedly and said softly, “I don’t understand…”
Acting foolish to an extreme degree would make one seem strange. Her coy claim of not understanding made everyone shudder. Just moments ago she had been fighting fiercely, yet now she acted like an innocent maiden—it was too much.
Guo Shier said, “Since you don’t understand, do as I command. If you can’t bear it, then leave.” He was also getting impatient, so his words became rude.
Sericeline immediately became tearful, looking at Guo Shier pitifully and saying softly, “Yes, my lord.”
Guo Shier was defeated by her again. He said, “Alright, alright, why cry… It makes it seem like I’m bullying you.”
The handsome old man in the altar laughed foolishly nonstop. He said, “Hey, I like this girl. She’s fun. Ah… it’s a shame I can’t come out. Ah, what a pity. Damn it, you got lucky, kid.”
Guo Shier snapped, “Give her to you! I’ve had enough trouble—it’s all because of you! Why did you have her bother me?”
The handsome old man said, “Isn’t this boring? Do you think I’m happy? I’m suffocating in this altar. It’s hard enough to find some fun, and you still object? Damn it… I’m going on strike. I’m done.”
Guo Shier immediately softened his heart, realizing the handsome old man was truly bored to death. Recently, he had been busy striving to advance in the altar, spending months in seclusion, with no time to chat with the handsome old man. During the rest of the time, he was mostly out on missions and had no time to pay attention to him either. No wonder the handsome old man was like this—he had been lonely ever since he became a spirit of the altar.
“Handsome old man, how about… I find a female soul to talk to you? Maybe that way you won’t feel lonely. What do you say?”
The handsome old man cursed, “Get lost! What do you mean ‘female’? Are you planning to find some female beast to keep me company? Damn you, brat!”
Guo Shier laughed, “It’s a human, not a beast. Hehe, what do you say? Do you want it?”
The handsome old man sighed and said, “Forget it. Ordinary people’s souls won’t work. Unless it’s a skilled caster, even if they come in, they can’t withstand my spiritual pressure and won’t be able to communicate.”
Only then did Guo Shier realize this and couldn’t help but sigh as well. Having left the world of spells, it was extremely difficult to find a powerful soul. The professionals here were all altar-level experts, and he couldn’t obtain such souls unless he killed them by force and controlled them with secret methods. But he could never do such a vile thing.
“Maybe there will be a chance in the future. For now, we have to endure it.”
The handsome old man sighed and said, “Then don’t bring it up. It makes me miserable!”
Guo Shier said, “I’m sorry, handsome old man.”
The handsome old man cursed, “You don’t need to apologize. Just treat this girl well!”
Guo Shier inwardly groaned. He really wasn’t interested in this woman. For the handsome old man’s twisted interests, he had no choice but to agree and began to treat Seraphine more carefully, at least to avoid annoying the old man. He knew that once they entered the Tianluo Ruins, he could basically get rid of Seraphine.
Seraphine quickly dried her tears and a smile appeared on her face again.
Guo Shier checked each of the weapons he had collected one by one before storing them in the altar. Watching the weapons disappear one after another, Seraphine said enviously, “Is that your spell-casting clan’s special spell storage bag?”
Li Ran said from the side, “That’s not a spell storage bag. It’s a personal space.”
The Spellcrafters’ token storage spaces are also very famous in this world. Serichlin took out her own token bag and said, “After fighting against a master from the Spellcrafters last time, he gave me a token bag. Hehe, it’s quite large.”
Guo Shier looked at it and almost laughed. He casually took out a token bag of his own and said, “Yours is just an ordinary token bag. Take this one; its storage capacity is more than ten times larger than yours.”
Serichlin was overjoyed. Every race longed for the Spellcrafters’ token bags, hoping to have such a convenient carrying tool. Every master took pride in possessing Spellcrafters’ token bags and weapons, which was why Spellcrafters’ professionals were so renowned in this world. Although there were very few Spellcrafters’ professionals, each of them was someone other races sought to please, even if they lacked strength. Of course, those who came to this world were all altar-level professionals; it was almost impossible for any of them to be weak.
Tulata watched with envy, staring at Guo Shier with an expression that anyone could understand. Guo Shier smiled and took out a stack of token bags. Other things might be scarce, but token bags were not rare at all. Back in the Spellcraft World, he had plundered the warehouses of major cities and acquired countless token bags.
Guo Shier said, “You gave me quite a few weapons, so I’m giving these token bags to you.” He added, “They’re all large-capacity token bags that can hold a lot of stuff. There are about twenty of them here; they’re all yours.”
Tulata was filled with joy and surprise. After all, large-capacity token bags were extremely rare in this world—even with money, it was impossible to buy them. Receiving over twenty token bags at once was like hitting a huge fortune for Tulata.
Satisfied with their gains, Tulata became much more enthusiastic toward Li Ran and the others. He had no choice but to be enthusiastic—just by showing them one item, they had been greatly surprised. He knew he didn’t have anything they urgently needed, but since they were willing to give him such precious items, he couldn’t let them feel even the slightest neglect in his hospitality.
Li Ran said, “We still have a few days to wait. Let’s rest first. Tulata, if any masters come by, I hope you can introduce them to us. Hehe, I’d like to see the masters of this world too. We’ve seen too few of them. It would be great to meet a Tianling Clan master—so far, we haven’t seen a single one.”
Ceciline said, “The Spirit Race isn’t anything special. They’re good at illusions and manipulation. I’ve met some top experts from their race, but I didn’t find them that impressive.”
Guo Shier said, “Just like those spellcasters from the Spellcrafting Race you met before—didn’t you find them impressive either? Among experts of the same race, there are always differences in skill.”
Ceciline replied, “I know, I know. But I really haven’t encountered any Spirit Race member who’s stronger than me. My strength is quite remarkable in this world, but I’ve never met a true top expert. Of course, this also has to do with experience. If you travel widely, you’ll have the chance to meet real top experts. It’s like meeting Guo Shier and the other two this time—I hit a wall.”
