Chapter 6: Yingbei’s Help (Part 1)
“A Great World? What’s that?”
With Yingbei’s knowledge, although the sentence was translated in the local common language, he didn’t understand it at all. Guo Shier explained, “It’s a world similar to the Star Sacrifice World, but much larger. We call it a Great World.”
Yingbei frowned slightly, pondered for a moment, and said, “Oh, I see. I’ve heard a bit about it, but… it’s a dead end. It’s impossible to proceed there.”
Li Ran asked, “Why is it impossible? If it’s a path… then surely someone must have taken it. Otherwise, how would the story have spread?”
Yingbei nodded. “What you say makes some sense. I’m not very clear about it. I’ve only heard scattered rumors. I don’t know exactly which path it is. You’ll need to find it yourselves.”
Apart from Li Ran and Guo Shier, the others weren’t interested in the Great World at all. Qi Wuzhen’s destination was the Star Sacrifice World, not the Great World. As for Zhen Wuji, Yao Zebusong, and the others, they had no intention of going to the Great World either, as they didn’t understand what kind of place it was.
The only ones in this group who truly wanted to leave were Li Ran and Guo Shier. Both of them had entered the Spell World from the Great World, and both had been reborn. The only difference was that Li Ran was a fragment of his soul, while Guo Shier had his entire soul reborn. Returning to the Great World was their most urgent desire.
Goha was the first to speak, “I’m not going to the Great World. I think this is where I belong.”
Zhen Wuji, Yao Zebusong, Halechi, Aizek, and Meili also said they intended to stay here and were unwilling to take further risks. Qi Wuzhen simply declared, “This is where I’m going.” The team was on the verge of falling apart.
Li Ran wasn’t too concerned. The only regret was that Qi Wuzhen couldn’t join him. It wasn’t that he felt anything special for Qi Wuzhen, but Qi Wuzhen’s strength could help him control the Sacrificial Treasure to break through barriers. However, Guo Shier had also reached a strength beyond the ninth-tier altar, so he could now offer help as well.
Guo Shier sighed. After three lifetimes, he understood one thing best: relying on others is not as good as relying on oneself. Over these three lifetimes, he had met countless people, but in the end, they were all just passersby in his life—whether parents, best friends, or even the followers unique to the Spell World. So though he sighed, he remained calm and wasn’t overly disappointed by everyone’s decisions.
Li Ran sat down next to Guo Shier and smiled slightly, saying, “Shier, from now on, it will just be the two of us exploring the greater world.”
Guo Shier nodded and said, “Brother Li Ran… After going through all this, it’s just the two of us left. Hehe, well, I don’t want to stay in the Star Sacrifice Realm…”
Li Ran said, “Ying Bei, pass on your knowledge to me.”
Ying Bei nodded. He stretched out a finger and gently touched Li Ran’s forehead, completing the transmission in an instant. Li Ran was slightly surprised because the transmission was very brief. After examining what he had received, he was stunned—he hadn’t expected the progression to be so simple. Everyone watched him eagerly, wanting to know how to advance further.
Soon, everyone received their transmissions. Guo Shier examined his carefully and was also surprised. This was an extension of the Virtual Form Altar—something he had already learned when he first advanced his altar. In the World of Talismans, once a Virtual Form Altar was successfully constructed, one could advance to a Layered Form Altar, a process that all advanced practitioners had to go through.
But no one had expected that the Virtual Form Altar could also be upgraded. Not many materials were needed for its advancement—mostly talisman arrays, talismans, and a large number of Soul Beads. The altar alternated between solid and virtual forms, and this was the secret to advancement—not just solid form altars could progress. That’s why there were rules allowing a seventh-layer altar to advance to the fourteenth layer and an eighth-layer altar to advance to the sixteenth layer.
Ge Ha was somewhat disappointed. He realized he had been wrong before—if he couldn’t gather the materials quickly to advance to a tenth-layer altar, he would remain at the ninth layer. Even if he tried to refine a Virtual Form Altar, he could at most advance to an eighteenth-layer altar. According to Ying Bei, it was easy to construct a Virtual Form Altar at first, but it became increasingly difficult as time went on. He had been here for a long time yet could only advance to the fourteenth layer, never reaching the sixteenth.
Ying Bei asked, “Do you plan to live on this continent or go somewhere else? It’s relatively safe here with fewer conflicts, but other places are different—there are many experts and many fights, though there are also plenty of resources.”
Guo Shier asked curiously, “Many fights?”
Ying Bei nodded. “Many, many. Basically, anyone who isn’t an expert from the World of Talismans could be a potential enemy. Of course, it’s not impossible for some of them to become friends—like Bo Riguang. He became my friend, hehe. He’s also my neighbor.”
Li Ran asked, “Are there many such foreign friends?”
Yinbei said, “Not many. Only when the strength difference is minimal is it possible to become friends; if the difference is too large, it’s very difficult. Professionals who come from the Spellworld tend to be easier to befriend, as they come from the same place and communicate more easily. Even if they can’t become friends, it’s not easy for them to become enemies either.”
“However, this doesn’t mean we can be friends with all professionals from the Spellworld. No matter which world they come from, there are always some scumbag bastards. When encountering such people, either avoid them or kill them—everyone should be aware of this.”
Yinbei continued, “The Star Sacrifice is amazing. There are all kinds of wonders in this small world, unexpected dangers, and countless treasures… well, all left by our predecessors. For example, the altars and altar traditions unique to our Spellworld, as well as the traditions of strongmen from other worlds. If you’re lucky, you might learn some strange and unique abilities. This is a treasure land.”
“Oh, right. Among professionals who come from the Spellworld, the continent they like most isn’t here but the Fengtai Continent. It produces various spell materials that are no worse than those from the Spellworld, and there are also many special items.”
As he spoke, Yinbei threw a jade talisman to Li Ran and said, “This is a spell map. Well, there are only a few maps of different continents, including the Fengtai Continent.”
After thanking him, Li Ran quickly copied it and gave one jade talisman to each member of the team.
Guo Shier examined the Inter-World Spell Talisman and found it ready to use. However, all the coordinates of the spell continents on it were dark in color. He knew it was impossible to go to the Spellworld from here. After thinking for a moment, he transferred the coordinates from the Inter-World Spell Talisman to the jade talismans and then completely erased those coordinates, casually adding the coordinates of Yinbei’s manor instead. Sure enough, the coordinates lit up, indicating they were valid.
“I’ve set the initial teleportation portal coordinates at this manor, Yinbei. Is that okay?”
Yinbei said, “No problem. If everyone wishes, they can set my place as the initial spell portal coordinate. In case of danger, they can come to my manor.” He knew these people were extremely powerful, and it was a good thing to befriend such professionals. Moreover, he understood that he was old and also needed friends’ help.
For now, everyone settled down at Yinbei’s manor.
Guo Shier returned to his small hut and immediately handed over the obtained talisman diagrams and advancement inheritance to Old Shuai. After receiving the inheritance, Old Shuai sighed, “The Virtual Form Altar can also lead to advancement… This is truly amazing. How come we didn’t know about this in the World of Talismans? Hmm, this is unique to star worship—it’s interesting. Leave it to me!”
With Old Shuai’s experience, such an advancement was not difficult at all. His familiarity with Guo Shier’s altar was even greater than Guo Shier’s own; the altar was almost entirely built by him. Otherwise, even with the Soul Scriptures, Guo Shier wouldn’t have been able to advance so quickly.
After studying it for a few days, Old Shuai told Guo Shier that the materials they had would only allow for a few layers if used to build a solid-form altar, but they were more than sufficient for a Virtual Form Altar. Especially the hundreds of thousands of Spirit Beasts in the Soul-Stabilizing Cauldron—those were their real strength, as building a Virtual Form Altar required a large number of Soul Bead, and they were in no shortage of those.
However, constructing a ten-layer Virtual Form Altar couldn’t be done in a short time; it required careful planning over some time.
Any newcomer to star worship had to adapt for a while—not only because their strength needed to surge for advancement but also because they had to adjust to the rules of this world. Guo Shier had already noticed that the power in this world was very lenient toward him; instead of suppressing him, it even enhanced his strength. Only someone like him, who had traveled through several small worlds, could understand this.
Thus, Guo Shier longed even more for the greater world. If he could perform so well just in the starry projection area, what if he truly entered the cosmic world? Would his strength increase even further?
Guo Shier was eager to improve his strength. He now fully understood that even if it wasn’t for fighting others, just traveling to the greater world meant that without extremely powerful strength, he would likely vanish without a trace. By then, not only would it be impossible to leave, but even soul reincarnation would be out of the question.
Old Shuai was a practical man. After clarifying his thoughts, he immediately began preparing. Of course, Guo Shier wasn’t idle either. The two discussed the best ways to build the finest altar. According to Guo Shier’s idea, using the best materials and the finest Spirit Beasts, and doing so as quickly as possible, would yield the greatest advancement.
The handsome old man had no objections and proposed several architectural methods. After discussing for a few days, they decided to use the projection method of a solid altar to construct a virtual altar, meaning repeating the original progression process but for a virtual altar. The advantages of this approach are self-evident; the most crucial point is that it allows for the fastest construction of the altar and is the most suitable for a virtual altar.
As time passed, Ezek and Mei Li left together, while the others continued to work hard to advance in the Inbe Manor. Goha reached an agreement with Inbe: as long as Inbe provided him with enough materials to reach the tenth-tier altar, he would reside in the Inbe Manor permanently. Inbe agreed immediately, as having a top-tier expert on their side would be extremely beneficial to the manor. Although the continent was relatively peaceful, it wasn’t truly safe, so having one more expert on hand had obvious advantages.
Qi Wu Zhen also had no plans to leave for now. Although she intended to stay at the Sacrificial Star, she didn’t separate from the others right away. Having been together for so long, she decided to stay in the manor to advance as well.
