Chapter 7 Chaos (Part 2)

Guo Shier tried several times to use the Soul-Calming Cauldron, but ultimately suppressed his impulse. He knew that while using it would be satisfying, the consequences would be severe—he wouldn’t be able to recover for days, and if used excessively, the outcomes could be unpredictable. Thus, he could only endure the battle patiently. Unable to hold back, he shouted, “Who has a better way? This fighting is driving me crazy!”
Li Ran and Qi Wu Zhen exclaimed at the same time, “Be careful! There’s a master coming!”
At that moment, the nine of them were at an intersection. The purple-armored warriors retreated like receding tide, suddenly leaving a large open space. Zhen Wu Ji’s attack stalled. In just that short while, he had already fought himself into a daze. “What’s going on? Damn it…” When he stopped, the others stopped as well.
A tremendous pressure surged from ahead. Li Ran immediately stepped forward to the front and saw several purple-armored warriors standing over three meters tall approaching. Guo Shier was surprised. “Huh? Their armor… is black!”
Black-armored warriors?
Li Ran said, “Perhaps these are the top fighters in their world. Everyone, who wants to give it a try?” He never underestimated experts from other worlds—who knew what kind of abominations might appear.
Qi Wu Zhen stepped forward and said, “It’s good to test our skills.” Then she added, “If they provoke me, I’ll burn them all to ashes!”
Guo Shier said, “Let me do it.” As he delved deeper into this small world, he felt increasingly determined to find a path suited to himself—one that required constant fighting to uncover his strength without relying on talismanic power. Of course, he knew it would be difficult.
Carrying his Moon Blade, Guo Shier stepped forward slowly. He knew he couldn’t communicate with them, so he pointed at them and hooked his finger. The message was clear—anyone with intelligence would understand.
The black-armored warriors were three meters tall. Guo Shier and the others had seen countless giant creatures, so three meters wasn’t much of a deal. One of the warriors stepped forward, his thick feet making cracking sounds as they stepped on the ice. With a black biological mask covering his face, his expression was invisible, but a chilling pressure radiated from him.
As the warrior approached, Guo Shier gripped his Moon Blade tightly, staring intently at him. When the warrior was about ten meters away, he roared and charged forward with his blade raised.

The man in black armor had no weapon. He simply shrunk slightly, stamped his feet hard on the ice, and shot forward like a cannonball. Guo Shieru swung his sword down in a slashing strike. Suddenly, a black short stick appeared in the man’s hand—its material unknown—as he fiercely blocked the attack. Boom! The man in black armor was pushed back repeatedly. He stared in disbelief at the black short stick in his hand, which now had a deep crack. Guo Shieru also stepped back two steps, equally surprised that the opponent had managed to block his full-force strike. Guo Shieru shouted, “Again!” and swung his sword once more. Boom! Boom! Boom! After three consecutive clashes, the man in black armor could no longer resist. Guo Shieru’s final strike broke the short stick. The tip of his sword sliced through the man’s face armor, and with a crackling sound, the man covered his face with both hands and slowly collapsed, blood instantly flowing and spreading around him. Guo Shieru stepped forward and severed the man’s head with another strike. By the time he collapsed, the man was already dead. Guo Shieru shook his sword to dislodge the blood droplets before slowly retreating back to his team. He said in a deep voice, “His strength is quite good!” Halechi asked in confusion, “Quite good? You killed him so quickly!” Guo Shieru replied, “That’s because he was foolish enough to fight me head-on. His weapon was too inferior, so he could only suffer the consequences.” He had had to use a bit of the power of talismans earlier and already felt the oppressive strength of this world. With no visible tops to the buildings on the ground, the entire city was shrouded in a thin layer of purple mist. The nine outsiders stood alone at the crossroads, surrounded by purple-armored men who filled the streets like an ocean. Li Ran said, “There are more and more purple-armored men…” Ge Ha smiled bitterly. “Could it be… that the weak point is here?” Li Ran nodded. “It should be around here. Maybe in the city, or not far behind… But it’s impossible for us to detect it among so many purple-armored men.” His tone carried a hint of helplessness. If they used the ability to break through barriers, he and Qi Wu Zhen would have to go all out, with no time to fight and under no circumstances allowed to be disturbed.

Hearing him say this, everyone felt excruciating headaches—meaning they couldn’t charge out; they had to keep fighting until the enemy retreated. Looking at the sea of Purple Armored men, they had no confidence in defeating so many of them unless they could use the altar recklessly, or Qi Wuzhen used his ultimate move, Fire Sacrifice, and Li Ran used his ultimate move, Sky Burial. Otherwise, who knew how this battle would turn out.

Suddenly, the old commander sent out a spiritual pulse from the altar: “Idiots! Can’t you set up a talisman array to lure these Purple Armored men in? With that array, you can kill countless of them. What are you idiots thinking about?” As the saying goes, outsiders see more clearly. Guo Shier and the others, trapped in the situation, couldn’t think of this at all.

There are many ways to fight, and brute force is the stupidest. Guo Shier smiled and said, “I have a good idea!”

By then, Ezekiel had already charged out and was fighting another Black Armored man.

Li Ran said, “Oh? What’s your good solution?” Everyone immediately turned to Guo Shier. They were all at a loss, unable to come up with any proper plan. Now that Guo Shier had an idea, they were naturally delighted, eager to get rid of these damned Purple Armored men as soon as possible.

Guo Shier smiled and said, “A talisman array!”

Goha slapped his thigh in joy and said, “Yes! If we set up a large talisman killing array, we don’t have to fear no matter how many Purple Armored men come. We can just lure them into the array and kill them to our heart’s content. Damn, how didn’t I think of that!”

Except for Ezekiel, who was still fighting, everyone else smiled. With a solution, there was no need to worry. Not only were Guo Shier and the others unsure about fighting, but Li Ran and Qi Wuzhen also felt extremely troubled. Using a talisman array to fight enemies could save a lot of time and effort. Especially with a talisman array, the forces of this world couldn’t invade their souls.

Ezekiel was fighting hard. His opponent, a Black Armored man, wielded two hammers made of condensed purple ice. The hammers, a meter in diameter, were extremely cold. When Ezekiel struck them with his claw, only a few white marks remained, which disappeared quickly. Although his thick skin protected him from injury when hit by the hammers, the icy force slowed him down.

“Icha! Icha… cha!”

That was the cry of all the Purple Armored men—a deafening roar, like a tsunami, shaking the entire land.

Halechi was surprised and asked, “What are they shouting?” His voice couldn’t be heard at all, drowned out by the thunderous cries.

Li Ran transmitted through soul waves, “Shier, go replace Ezekiel. Meili, you go provide support. Xiao Zhenzhen, wait a moment and deal them a devastating strike. We’ll charge back later—I’ll open the way ahead. Follow closely and make sure not to get trapped by the Purple Armored men. Shier, move first; the others wait for my signal!”
Speaking through soul waves meant it was unrelated to volume—this was a unique communication method for professionals in the Spellcraft World, absent in other worlds. Thus, no matter how loud the outside noises were, they wouldn’t affect what Li Ran wanted to convey.
Guo Shier dashed forward and said through soul waves, “Ezekiel, your Meili is calling you home for dinner…”
Ezekiel staggered, then swung his giant hammer downward. With a roar, he crossed his arms, which immediately swelled as scales appeared on his skin. With a loud crash, the ice beneath his feet shattered. Guo Shier suddenly appeared beside him, slashing with his large sword while simultaneously kicking Ezekiel hard in the chest, sending him flying backward.
Bang!
Ezekiel crashed to the ground, screaming in fury. Meili grabbed his neck and lifted him up, saying, “Come back!” Ezekiel struggled desperately, screaming, “Guo Shier, I’ll kill you!”
Meili snapped, “Are you crazy? She’s telling you to come back!”
Ezekiel snapped back, “Come back? Why hit me to make me come back?”
Meili cursed, “Does it work when I tell you? Come with me—we need to retreat now!”
Guo Shier knew well Ezekiel’s temper. If ordered to go back, he would never obey. There was only one way—kick him back. With Meili covering his back, nothing would go wrong, so he was quite confident. The Moon Blade sliced through the air, causing the Black Armored men across from them to emit strange noises, likely cursing words. The Black Armored men swung their hammers, while the Moon Blade slashed fiercely, producing a bright clang. A cold aura spread along the blade. Guo Shier twisted his fingers, injecting a spellfire into the Moon Blade. Instantly, the entire blade glowed, with flames burning on it like a torch.
Li Ran transmitted through soul waves, “Shier, hurry up!”

Guo Shieru let out a fierce roar, raised the great sword formed from the Moon Blade, and began slashing wildly. Flames flew everywhere, accompanied by a series of loud thuds. The man in black armor immediately retreated step by step, frantically swinging his hammer to block the attacks. Yet the speed of the Moon Blade’s slashes was too fast—dozens of cuts were delivered in an instant. Moreover, the flames attached to the Moon Blade were the real deadly weapon. Though not among the top-tier purple runes, these flames were still of high quality.

With a series of screeching noises, the hammer began to melt. The man in black armor struggled and roared, feeling trapped in the sea of blades with no way to escape.

Another wave of fierce slashes followed, especially the last one. The Moon Blade suddenly changed its trajectory, lifting upward from below. The man in black armor had no way to counter such a deceptive move. He focused all his strength on resisting upward to meet the slashing Moon Blade, never expecting it to come from below. His arms couldn’t withstand such immense force. With a crackling sound, his bones shattered, and both hammers flew away simultaneously.

At that moment, Li Ran shouted, “Follow me!” He charged forward, diving straight into the dense crowd of men in purple armor.

Guo Shieru sent the man in black armor flying with a single slash, then stopped pursuing him and drifted backward, quickly catching up with the group. The nine of them fought bravely once again, trying to break through the encirclement.
