Chapter 3: Confronting the Enemy (Part 2)

Little Jick with the Poisonous Teeth let out a long, agonized scream as his legs were forcibly broken. Only then did Guo Shier release his grip and say, “Yadelan, it’s up to you…”
Yadelan was overjoyed and said, “Thank you… my lord!” She rushed at Little Jick, her great sword trembling slightly as it instantly shattered his shoulder bones. She said, “I don’t want to kill you right away…” She thrust her sword beneath his pants and added, “Doesn’t it feel great? Doesn’t it? Doesn’t it…”
With successive thuds, her great sword stabbed wildly like mashing garlic, causing Little Jick to wail in pain.
Guo Shier felt his scalp tingle as he inwardly sighed at how ruthless this woman was. He shouted, “Everyone, fight back!”
Eisen had already rushed into the crowd, targeting Big Jick, who had been kicked away by Guo Shier. Seeing an opportunity, he realized Big Jick was too injured from Guo Shier’s punch to resist, and since his hammer had fallen from his hand, missing such a chance would mean he wasn’t a true strong robber.
After killing two robbers who blocked his path with his axe, Eisen reached Big Jick.
Big Jick struggled to get up, lifting his upper body and reaching for a long knife lying on the ground. Eisen kicked violently, and thud! The top of his foot struck Big Jick’s face. He swung his axe and shouted, “Die!”
Crack! One swing of the axe split Big Jick’s head in two.
A few robbers dragged Durong Boai away in a desperate attempt to flee, taking advantage of the chaos to retreat. Fortunately, no one noticed, otherwise he too would have died.
Guo Shier flew into the air, flipped his wrist, and the Moon Blade appeared. With a spell cast, the Moon Blade instantly transformed into countless short blades several feet long. He gave a light command, “Go!” With a whistling sound, the countless Moon Blades surged downward like a swarm of venomous bees, and instantly, screams filled the air. When the other robbers realized their opponent could fly, their entire attacking force collapsed completely.
Many of the attacking robbers turned and ran. Yadelan and Eisen gave orders at the same time, leading their men in a fierce pursuit.
Guo Shier retracted the Moon Blade. By now, he no longer needed to intervene—the enemy was completely defeated and powerless to resist. Meanwhile, Aizek had killed over 300 people in just a few minutes. The other robbers also realized the situation and immediately scattered in all directions. They were terrified of Aizek; he was too brutal, killing people as easily as stepping on ants. How could they fight against such a man?
Aizek didn’t bother chasing the remaining robbers. He flew over to Guo Shier and asked, “Should we follow the retreating troops?”
Guo Shier replied, “Yes. I want to see who these people are.”

The two flew into the air and chased after the enemy group. The bandits below, seeing their two leaders flying in the sky, became as brave as if they had taken some powerful tonic, and pursued their opponents even more frantically.
Especially Yadlan and Eson—like two arrows. It was then that Guo Shier realized that neither Yadlan nor Eson showed any mercy; once they caught up with their opponents, they would strike with an axe or sword as easily as chopping vegetables.
The most skilled members of the group followed Yadlan and Eson, leaping through the forest like a gust of wind, chasing the enemies relentlessly.
Flying in the air, Guo Shier stared into the distance and said, “Ezek, have you noticed… there’s a camp ahead.”
Ezek replied, “I’ve noticed it already. There are quite a few people there.”
Guo Shier smiled and said, “That might be their camp. Hehe, if they lose, they’ll run to the camp—perfect for us to find it…”
Ezek asked, “Should we go there first and fight them?” He originally disdained killing these weak enemies, but he was too bored; moving around was better than sitting still.
Guo Shier said, “No rush. Maybe we’ve stumbled upon a powerful force, hehe.”
Ezek curled his lips and said, “Whatever force it is, if they dare to attack us, they’re asking for death.”
At the edge of the forest ahead was a large open area, about a few thousand square meters, with a fortress built using log walls and more than a dozen arrow towers. When the retreating soldiers appeared, horns were blown inside the fortress.
From above, Guo Shier could see clearly that there were many tents inside, indicating an army of seven or eight thousand people. Soon, various groups assembled. In the center of the fortress was a huge tent, with a large flag fluttering above it, embroidered with a roaring tiger head.
A cavalry unit of about five hundred men gathered and quickly moved toward the fortress gates.
Guo Shier said, “That cavalry unit is very dangerous. Our group might not be able to withstand them.” At that moment, large groups of retreating soldiers had already rushed out of the forest toward the fortress, while the pursuers, still a kilometer away, continued to chase them fiercely.
The fortress gates opened, and the cavalry unit rushed out, followed by the retreating soldiers flooding into the fortress.
The bandits inside scrambled up the log walls, and many archers took positions on the arrow towers; the entire camp was in chaos.
Guo Shier pointed at the group that rushed into the fortress and said, “Huh, that guy actually ran back.”
Ezek asked, “Who?”
Guo Shier replied, “That Du Longbo Ai. The people carrying him are quite strong—how did they manage to escape so quickly…”

The men carrying Du Long Bo Ai shouted loudly, and soon someone came to meet them. After exchanging a few words, they were taken to the large tent in the center of the camp. At that moment, Yad Lan and Eson rushed out of the forest.

To figure out who the opponents were, it was necessary to find their leader. Guo Shier and Aizek hovered in the air, not above the camp but at the edge of the forest, watching Yad Lan and Eson emerge from the woods. Yet both of them were shrewd; as soon as they saw the camp, they ordered an end to the pursuit.

Throughout the chase, only a few hundred of the opponents managed to escape, while the rest were either killed or fled into the dense forests. The opponents suffered a crushing defeat.

Countless arrow feathers flew toward them. Yad Lan and Eson immediately retreated into the forest, using the trees to shield themselves from the arrows.

The cavalry protected the remaining bandits as they entered the camp.

Guo Shier and Aizek slowly descended and joined Yad Lan and Eson. Guo Shier asked, “Do you see that flag? Who are they?”

Yad Lan and Eson stared at the flag, focusing on the roaring tiger head on it, their eyes filled with confusion. After a while, Eson said, “I’ve never seen such a flag. In the Karabaza Pass area, almost no one uses flags. Flags are used by the armies of castles or principalities.”

Guo Shier wondered, “So are they an army? Well, call Wu Si over.”

Wu Si soon arrived before Guo Shier and said, “Leader.”

Yad Lan asked, “Wu Si, do you recognize that flag? Who are they?”

Wu Si studied the flag for a moment before saying, “I don’t know which faction they belong to, but they’re not bandits—they’re an army… Perhaps they’re the same group that killed people at Wu Shao Ling. Da Jike and Du Ya Xiao Jike are well-known bandits; they must be bandits who have been subdued by this group.”

A cavalry force of five hundred riders paced back and forth near the camp gate. They weren’t there to fight but to intimidate the pursuing troops, preventing them from leaving the forest. This was because the people inside the camp needed to regroup, and once ready, the battle would begin.

Guo Shier said, “So they’re an army. Interesting. Could it be the army of Edlu Fort?”

Wu Si replied, “It doesn’t seem like the army of Edlu Fort, but I’m not sure either.” He didn’t dare or can confirm and added, “Interrogating the captives might tell us.”

Guo Shier asked, “By the way, how many of our men have been lost?”

Eson hurriedly said, “I’ll go check. Yad Lan, you’d better organize your troops. They’ll attack soon.”

Yadelan nodded and stepped back into the group to organize them. Soon, Essen returned and said, “There’s no exact number yet. There are less than five hundred people now, many with minor injuries, and some are still on the chase and haven’t arrived.” Yadelan also went back to Guo Shier, saying, “Alright, everyone is ready.” Guo Shier nodded and said, “Let’s leave the forest.” He stepped out of the forest, with Aizek following closely behind. Essen and the others exchanged glances before following out as well. Immediately afterward, the sound of bowstrings was heard, and dozens of arrows flew toward them. Guo Shier reached out and grabbed them in midair, saying calmly, “Stop!” The arrows remained suspended in the air before falling. Guo Shier waved his hand and said, “Send them back!” The arrows flew back at even greater speed, emitting a whooshing sound, as fast as lightning. Screams could be heard from the walls and arrow towers, followed by thuds as people fell to the ground. Yadelan and the others were already stunned by Guo Shier’s endless tricks. The bandits in the jungle cheered loudly; with such a powerful leader, their courage soared. Guo Shier’s move immediately subdued the bandits in the fortress. They had never seen such formidable skills before—never even heard of them. Being able to make arrows fly back without touching them was terrifying. Who would dare use bows and arrows again? The bandits in the fortress had now formed their ranks. With arrows nocked, they had no choice but to attack. With several creaking sounds, the large wooden doors of the fortress opened, and groups of bandits stepped out in formation. Horsemen rushed back and forth, covering the bandits as they lined up. A dozen leaders stood at the front, each holding a weapon and staring intently at Guo Shier and the others. Aizek laughed and said, “There’s one slightly stronger among them, hehe, but the rest are nothing.” Guo Shier glanced around and nodded, “Mm, there might be one at the castle level or even ducal level. I haven’t compared them, so I’m not sure.” So far, he had not encountered any experts from this world, and he was still somewhat eager, hoping to exchange ideas with them and perhaps gain some insights. Wusi quietly approached and said, “We’ve captured dozens of prisoners. Should we kill them?” Guo Shier replied, “Find a few skilled interrogators to get some information from them.” Wusi nodded and left. The group of leader-like experts on the other side slowly walked to the center of the area where the two sides faced each other. On either side of them were horsemen, ready to charge at any moment. Yadelan asked, “Should we go meet them?”

Guo Shier smiled and said, “Let’s go up and see what they say, hehe.”
