Chapter 109: A Roar That Controls Everything

“Owner, something bad has happened—some people are causing trouble at the inn.”
Rapid knocking came at the door. When Lin Dong opened it, he saw Ma Chun standing there in a panic. He immediately asked sternly, “What happened?”
“The Liu family has sent people to cause trouble. Elder Huo can barely hold them off. I was sent to tell you to go to the Gu Huan Sect for help,” Ma Chun replied concisely.
“The Liu family causing trouble?”
Lin Dong frowned slightly. No wonder Liu Qingling had acted so subservient to him at the Military Assessment Institute—and even the institute itself wanted to deal with him.
The Liu family could afford to hire experts, and these experts were even stronger than Huo Yuan and the others.
Though surprised and slightly hesitant, Lin Dong did not follow Huo Yuan’s plan to leave the inn immediately for the Gu Huan Sect.
The relationship between the Gu Huan Sect and the inn was a secret known only to their loyal disciples and subordinates. Once the Gu Huan Sect sent help, it would be impossible to keep it hidden.
As for the experts hired by the Liu family, there was an old man named Ding living in the back courtyard. Once that old man stepped in, everything would be fine.
Of course, whether it was going to the Gu Huan Sect for help or using their trump card, both approaches came with difficulties. Lin Dong didn’t want to reveal his cards too early, especially the old man Ding as his trump card.
After pondering for a while, Lin Dong came up with a plan. If used properly, the inn’s “kick someone out” function could first help defeat the strongest opponents with Huo Yuan’s strength, then use Huo Yuan’s power to take them down one by one.
Although having the “kick someone out” function seen could also cause trouble, as long as one was careful and used it only once or twice, it wouldn’t be impossible to hide it.
Amid Ma Chun’s anxious urging, several figures leaped over the courtyard wall.
Seeing Lin Dong, Liu Qingling felt a sense of happiness wash over him.
Just as he was about to go to the main hall with Ma Chun, he saw Liu Qingling enter with three others. Glancing at their clothes, Lin Dong thought for a moment—these people clearly weren’t Liu family disciples; they must be helpers hired by the Liu family.
With his own strength, unless he used the “kick someone out” function, it was impossible for him to enter the main hall.
Lin Dong bowed slightly and said calmly, “Young Master Liu, you’re here for dinner. Why did you come in through the back courtyard?”
Liu Qingling shook his head. “Owner Lin, I’m not here for dinner this time.”
“Oh, then what brings you here, Young Master Liu…” Lin Dong replied perfunctorily while quickly thinking of a plan.
“Owner Lin, I’m here to demand justice from you,” Liu Qingling said politely.
“What justice?” Lin Dong pretended to be confused.

Liu Qingling said with a smile, “Shopkeeper Lin, a month ago, you led people to break down the gates of my Liu family and kill our guards. Today, Shopkeeper Lin must give me an explanation.”
Lin Dong replied coldly, “An explanation? How can I explain it?”
Liu Qingling tried to keep his expression calm. “Well, it depends on how Shopkeeper Lin wants to explain it to me.”
Beside him, Feng Cheng, the fifth elder of the Tongquan Sect, along with two of Liu Lixiong’s disciples, showed signs of impatience but didn’t dare say much. After all, the man before them was the nephew of the eldest elder, and it wasn’t wise to offend him. Since they were already sure of victory and the person hadn’t escaped, waiting a little longer didn’t matter.
Lin Dong pondered for a moment, then glanced at Feng Cheng and the other two. A glint appeared in his eyes as he bowed to Liu Qingling. “Young Master Liu, please wait a moment.”
“I hope Shopkeeper Lin can give me a satisfactory resolution,” Liu Qingling said with a slight smile.
Lin Dong immediately called over Ma Chun, who was nervous and at a loss, and whispered in his ear for a while.
“Shopkeeper…” Ma Chun looked troubled, his gaze flicking between Feng Cheng and the other two.
“Go if I tell you to,” Lin Dong snapped.
Ma Chun hurried off at a sprint toward the kitchen.
Liu Qingling thought Lin Dong wanted to use money to settle things peacefully and sneered inwardly. Since he had come, those warriors couldn’t be killed, but this Shopkeeper Lin wasn’t a warrior nor an official, so killing him wouldn’t matter much.
After a while, Ma Chun came out of the kitchen, accompanied by the tall and burly Jiang Kui.
Seeing Jiang Kui’s empty hands, Liu Qingling frowned slightly and looked at Lin Dong.
“Young Master Liu, let me introduce him to you,” Lin Dong said, pointing at Jiang Kui. “This is our inn’s head chef.”
“The head chef?” Not only Liu Qingling but also Feng Cheng and the other two disciples were stunned.
“That’s right. Our Lin’s Inn is so successful thanks to him,” Lin Dong nodded emphatically.
Liu Qingling and the others were completely confused. If they wanted justice, why bring in a chef? What did the success of Lin’s Inn have to do with this?
Could it be that this Shopkeeper Lin wanted to send a skilled chef to the Liu family to settle things peacefully?
Liu Qingling was both amused and exasperated. This Shopkeeper Lin really was unpredictable. He had clearly had the upper hand before but remained calm, while now, when he was at a disadvantage, he suddenly came up with the idea of compensating with a chef. Everything he did was unexpected.
“Our Liu family doesn’t need a chef!” Liu Qingling shook his head. “Shopkeeper Lin, I’m afraid you still need to think of something else to restore justice to my Liu family.”

“How could our Lin’s Inn’s talented chef end up with your Liu family?” Lin Dong shook his head repeatedly, let out a scoff, and tore a strip of cloth from his sleeve. With another push, the strip split in two. Watching Lin Dong insert the strips into his ears, Liu Qingling and the others grew even more confused, unable to figure out his intentions. “Shopkeeper Lin, you…” Liu Qingling only managed to say half before Jiang Kui stepped forward with his mouth wide open. Before Feng Cheng could sense the danger and stop him, he halted again. Taking a deep breath, Jiang Kui’s open mouth widened slightly before he let out a loud roar. “Get lost…” This roar, fueled by all his strength, sounded like a thunderclap, shaking the grass on the rooftops in the backyard and making the ground tremble. Even though Lin Dong was prepared and had already blocked his ears with spiritual energy to protect his eardrums, he still saw stars. Looking at the others, Ma Chun was the weakest. Despite also being prepared, he became disoriented upon hearing the roar and then collapsed to the ground. Liu Qingling suffered less impact than Ma Chun, but with his strength only at the sixth level of the Spirit Mobility stage, he couldn’t withstand such a shock and also closed his eyes and fainted after holding on for a few seconds longer. The two disciples were in slightly better condition, but their ears hurt as if thousands of mosquitoes were biting them, and their minds were in chaos, unable to understand what was happening. Feng Cheng was the strongest. Though he wasn’t stunned by the sudden loud noise, his eardrums still hurt severely. His sword clattered to the ground as he instinctively covered his ears. Before he could touch his ears, a figure suddenly moved. Feng Cheng was startled and quickly turned his wrist, realizing his sword had fallen to the ground. Without hesitation, he clenched his right fist, ready to strike, when he saw the figure stop, crouch down, and grab Liu Qingling from the ground. A blue-colored dark iron kitchen knife was raised slightly and placed against Liu Qingling’s neck—several actions performed in one smooth motion!
