Chapter 2: Violent Robbery (Part 2)
Li Ran hovered in midair, his gaze cold as he scanned the professionals from the Gu Lang Shang family who had gathered around.
Guo Shier looked down. Not far away, a group of altar-level professionals were attacking two mutated snow apes—a male and a female—their roars shaking the heavens. The snow apes were over seven or eight hundred meters tall, while those altar-level professionals resembled tiny flying mosquitoes, circling around them. In Guo Shier’s estimation, those snow apes were around level 16, equivalent to the strength of level 12 or 13 Aberrant Talisman Beasts.
Clearly, the professionals from the Gu Lang Shang family were stronger. Guo Shier said, “They have experts at the eighth level of the altar!”
Yang Miluo and Fan Zhen Tong also looked down. Fan Zhen Tong said, “There’s more than one—there are actually two professionals at the eighth level of the altar. No wonder they’re so arrogant and domineering. Heh, now it makes sense; they have the confidence to do so.”
Guo Shier laughed and said, “Heh, but that doesn’t help them. Consider it bad luck for them—why target us instead of someone else?” Not only was he pleased, but Yang Miluo and Fan Zhen Tong shared the same thought. Having a super expert by their side truly gave them unshakable confidence and peace of mind.
Li Ran remained calm as he hovered in the air, saying indifferently, “We’re just passing by. You can’t be so domineering.”
Guo Shier almost fell off the altar. This guy was truly evil—his words were deliberately misleading, making it seem like he was showing weakness.
The group of professionals responded in unison, “Since you dare attack our Gu Lang Shang family, you must be prepared to be wiped out. You have two choices: die, or leave all the supplies in the altar. Choose!”
Guo Shier sat on the altar and couldn’t help but burst into laughter. He said, “Hey, this guy has my style!”
The handsome old man also laughed. He had seen Guo Shier rob many times before and never expected to encounter someone who would provoke him voluntarily. He knew full well what the consequences would be, so he was very happy and grinned widely.
Li Ran nodded and said, “But I don’t want to choose either option.” Before his words faded, two cries of pain were heard, and the two snow apes collapsed to the ground. The professionals blocking the path immediately breathed a sigh of relief. They had feared that Li Ran and his group might cause chaos while attacking the snow apes. Now that the apes were down, they felt even more confident.
Dozens of professionals rushed to divide up the snow apes, while others swarmed over, led by the two professionals at the eighth level of the altar. The two flew up aggressively. One of them, who looked quite young, asked, “What’s going on?”
Immediately, professionals stepped forward to explain the situation. The young man nodded and smiled. He turned to look at Li Ran and the others, then said with a grin, “Pretty strong. No wonder you dared attack my men.”
Li Ran spoke in a tone of feigned bravado, “What do you want? If you dare act recklessly, I’ll make you regret it! You can’t be too cruel to others!”
Guo Shier burst out laughing again. He slammed his fist hard on the top of the altar, struggling to hold back his laughter, almost causing internal injuries. Even Yang Miluo and Fan Zhen lowered their heads, their shoulders shaking. Their only thought was that Li Ran was too ruthless.
The group of professionals seemed very pleased, fighting nonstop in the Great Abyss Pool. Everyone was feeling extremely suppressed, so bullying others was a way to vent their emotions. It seemed that Li Ran and the others were about to become targets for their anger.
The young man said proudly, “Gu Langshang Family, Eighth-Level Altar Professional, Yao Yao Langshang.”
Another Eighth-Level Altar Professional said, “Gu Langshang Family, Eighth-Level Altar Professional, Qianxi Langshang.”
The handsome old man whispered, “These names sound very ancient. It must be an extremely old family. I have a vague memory of the surname Langshang, but I can’t recall which continent they’re from.”
Guo Shier said, “Their strength is really impressive. Two Eighth-Level Altar professionals, three Seventh-Level Altar professionals, and the rest are at Fourth, Fifth, or Sixth Level. That’s already more than five or six ancient families. And this is only a portion of their professionals. I guess their family has many more skilled members left behind. No wonder they’re so arrogant and domineering.”
Li Ran continued to tease them, saying, “Is being an Eighth-Level Altar professional that amazing? Is having more people that amazing?”
Guo Shier felt like vomiting. He covered his forehead tightly and said, “I never thought Brother Li Ran would do this… It’s… it’s too exaggerated. There’s no need to play such tricks.”
In Guo Shier’s eyes, Yao Yao Langshang was really cooperative. He said, “Did you just attack our men?”
Li Ran replied, “A good dog doesn’t block the way! If you block the way, you should be prepared to be driven away!”
Guo Shier continued to hold his forehead and muttered, “Prepared to be driven away? You old fellow just like to torment people.”
Yao Yao Langshang sneered and said, “Oh, with just the four of you, you dare to invade our Gu Langshang Family’s hunting territory? You’re quite bold. Hehe, since you dared to attack, then be prepared to be wiped out!”
Guo Shier widened his eyes and thought, “Uh, another ‘prepared to be wiped out’… Damn it, enough with this ‘prepared to be wiped out’!”
Li Ran suddenly grinned and said, “Go ahead and try. Wipe us out. How bold of you.”
Qianxi Langshang said, “If you don’t want to die, hand over what you’ve gained from the Great Abyss Pool, and we’ll spare your lives!”
Guo Shier couldn’t help but interject, “You’re robbing us!”
Qianxi Langshang laughed happily. “Smart. We are indeed robbing you. Killing you won’t bring us any benefit, so let’s just rob you.”
The professionals from the Gu Langshang family looked at the four of them with laughter, their eyes full of mockery, as if they were enjoying the show.
Guo Shier said with a smile, “Really robbing us? I like it!”
The professionals from the Gu Langshang family treated them like fools, and soon laughter erupted. Guo Shier said innocently, “What’s so funny about robbing?” Then he added, “Robbing is a serious matter!”
The laughter grew louder. Yang Miluo and Fan Zhen couldn’t help but shake their heads—these two were absolute clowns.
Li Ran said with a smile, “Shier, you’re doing well, hehe.”
Qianxi Langshang and Yao Yao Langshang began to sense something was wrong. The opponent was far too calm; they could still joke at this moment, which proved they weren’t afraid at all.
Suspicion immediately focused on Li Ran. No professional who had reached the eighth-level altar could be a fool. Their expressions turned serious. Yao Yao Langshang asked, “Who are you?”
Guo Shier replied with a smile, “Not completely stupid—knows to ask who I am.”
Li Ran said, “Who I am isn’t important. What matters is that you want to rob me, and if that fails, you’ll kill me…” At this point, he could no longer pretend. He suddenly activated his altar and said coldly, “Robbing!”
Guo Shier followed suit in a ridiculous manner, “Robbing! Men, stand on the left; women, on the right! Those who aren’t male or female… uh, stand in the middle…” He blurted out words from his past life, leaving Yang Miluo and Fan Zhen in awe.
The professionals from the Gu Langshang family didn’t pay attention to Guo Shier’s words. Their focus was entirely on Li Ran’s altar. Their faces turned pale—the immense soul pressure and the terrifying altar showed that the seemingly easy target had suddenly turned into a ferocious beast.
Both Qianxi Langshang and Yao Yao Langshang were stunned, unable to speak. In this world, they feared almost nothing. The only ones who posed a threat to them were professionals above the ninth-level altar, yet here was someone who surpassed even that. They had even tried to rob him just moments ago.
Their expressions changed instantly. They might be able to escape Li Ran, but could their subordinates do the same?
Guo Shier was thrilled, as he now had plenty of materials to collect. But the handsome old man was worried, muttering, “There’s no space left to store them… What should I do?”
Yao Yaolangshang forced a smile and said, “Senior… um… please forgive me, senior. It was my fault for not seeing clearly… It’s just a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding…” He could only say that; otherwise, if he really got robbed, he wouldn’t even be able to cry.
Uselessly, Li Ran had already set up a trap. He loved turning the tables, and he had another trait—he never resorted to bullying others based on his own strength. Instead, he liked to let others provoke him first before dealing back everything, which made him feel extremely satisfied and happy. In Guo Shier’s eyes, this guy was a bit of a pervert.
Li Ran said coldly, “A misunderstanding? Is it fun for hundreds of professionals to bully us four? Do you think you can easily defeat us? Were all those words you said just nonsense? It’s robbery, pure and simple.”
Even though these professionals were all altar-level experts, facing someone like Li Ran, they hardly felt the urge to resist. The gap between them was too huge. Once face to face, they were completely helpless. If they hadn’t met, they might have thought about fighting back, but after Li Ran exerted his spiritual pressure, these people fell silent as if struck dumb.
Yao Yaolangshang said, “You… senior, you can’t be so domineering!”
Guo Shier couldn’t help but laugh loudly, saying, “Brother, that’s what you said before, haha.”
Li Ran also couldn’t help but laugh. He liked it this way and said, “Strange. I said those things before, but no one paid me any attention.”
Yao Yaolangshang was at his wits’ end. He wished he could slap to death anyone in his family who had gotten involved with Li Ran and the others, but he hadn’t realized that he had been happy when they first arrived.
A fierce glint flashed in Qianxi Langshang’s eyes. Li Ran smirked and turned to him, saying, “If you want to die, I’ll make it happen!”
Qianxi Langshang was so scared that his heart almost stopped beating. At the moment Li Ran glared at him, he felt like he couldn’t go on living.
Yao Yaolangshang still had a glimmer of hope, as he knew all the important materials were stored in the altar, while his own storage pouch contained nothing valuable. Gritting his teeth, he said, “Take out your storage pouches and hand them to the senior.”
Li Ran chuckled and said, “There’s no need to hand over the talisman bag!” Suddenly, he cast a spell and shouted, “Stabilize them!” A glow of talismans emanated from the canopy above the altar, and countless chains suddenly unfolded, instantly immobilizing the most powerful professionals. He said, “Twelve, it’s your turn!” He knew that Guo Twelve possessed the Ancient Xi Bi, a device that could directly penetrate into someone else’s altar.
Guo Twelve rushed forward immediately. Countless tentacles extended from the bottom of the altar, first piercing into the altars of Qianxi Langshang and Yaoyao Langshang. If they were to steal anything, it would be from the most powerful professionals, as only they had truly high-grade materials.
Yaoyao Langshang never expected the opponent to have such a tactic. He was frozen in mid-air, his soul tightly suppressed by Li Ran. Not only could he not use his sacred artifacts, but he couldn’t even teleport. He roared furiously, “You… don’t go too far!”
