Chapter 9: Habitual Robbery (Part 1)
There were two passages in total, visible as soon as one flew to the entrance of the valley. A group of professionals passing by discovered them and immediately charged in.
Along the path, they soon saw a group of professionals gathered together. They could clearly see the wood shavings on the ground, as well as a Hidden Symbol House. Large pieces of animal skins were spread out in the middle of the ground, with several people sitting on them, all turning to look at them.
The group that rushed in were professionals at the fifth or sixth level of the altar, with the leader being a skilled expert at the eighth level, hiding among the crowd. Another professional at the seventh level led the charge. After taking a glance, he realized these professionals were quite weak—only one of them was inscrutable, but he didn’t think this person could be stronger than his own boss.
“Wow! Such weak guys actually managed to get here? Impressive, really!”
The man sneered mockingly, saying, “Brothers, we’ve got fresh food here, hehe…” He then ordered loudly, “Hey! Burn more stuff and bring it over quickly!” He kicked a copper pot, scattering the unfinished meat on the ground. He shouted again, “Burn some new stuff—this boss doesn’t like leftovers!”
Guo Shier was so annoyed by them that he laughed. Few professionals were this domineering; they must have thought these people were easy targets and went straight for them. He rubbed his nose and stayed silent. With Li Ran present, it wasn’t his turn to make decisions—he could just watch.
The members of the Ancient General Family didn’t move. Knowing there was someone beyond the ninth level of the altar here, they felt calm, but their gazes at those arrogant guys carried a hint of mockery. If Li Ran hadn’t been there, they knew they would definitely be humiliated, or even worse things might happen.
After laughing for a while, the group noticed that the others showed no reaction at all. The professional at the seventh level became furious and roared, “Hey! Can’t you hear? This boss wants to take action—will you finally obey? Do you want to die?” He looked terrifying.
Guo Shier couldn’t hold back anymore and burst into laughter.
The sudden laugh made Li Ran ask, “Why are you laughing?”
Guo Shier replied, “Look at him… talking to himself. Is he sick?” He glanced at the man and added, “Hmm, sick. Hope it’s not rabies…”
Jiang Daling asked, “Rabies… what’s that?”
Guo Shier smiled and said, “You don’t know, do you? Hehe, once this disease flares up, it turns the person into a mad dog that bites anyone it sees. Hehe, I seem to see one right now…”
In the silence, everyone could hear Guo Shier and the others clearly.
The professional with a seventh-tier altar paled instantly. He stared intently at Guo Shier and said coldly, “You, a professional with a sixth-tier altar, dare to be rude to an elder?”
Guo Shier stood up and said, “Who is your elder? Talking nonsense—do you think you can easily defeat us? Idiot!”
The man sneered, “Be careful with your words here. You might all die… This is the Great Abyss Pool. No one will even know if you die!”
Guo Shier clapped his hands and said, “Hehe, that’s right. If you all die… no one will know!”
Fan Zhen Tong stepped forward and said, “Hey, what do you want? Coming here to provoke us out of nowhere—get lost!”
Jiang Daling shouted, “Defend!” The professionals from the Ancient Generals Clan quickly formed a battle formation. Jiang Daling added, “Get ready for battle.” He had become bolder because of Li Ran’s presence and no longer feared professionals stronger than himself—this was the advantage of having a master behind them.
The man laughed shrilly and turned back, saying, “Ancestor, they only have one guy with a seventh-tier altar, yet they act so arrogantly. Hehe, he’s telling us to leave!”
Someone responded calmly, “Oh, let me see which young fool this is!” With that, he activated his altar—a eighth-tier altar atop his head. The man strode out confidently.
Guo Shier was shocked inwardly. There was a master hidden among these people. It seemed the other side had deliberately come to provoke them. This was different from their goal of hiding their masters; clearly, they were here to bully others. He knew that in a clan’s team, having a professional with an eighth-tier altar indeed allowed them to act recklessly. Faced with such a team, most other clans would choose to avoid them.
Fan Zhen Tong sneered and asked, “Who are you?”
The professional with the eighth-tier altar replied coldly, “Who I am isn’t important. What matters is… how you’ll save your lives!” Refusing to reveal one’s name meant declaring hostility—whether it was killing or robbing, without a name, there would be no clues. This showed he already had murderous intent.
Guo Shier twirled his head to look at the man—bearded, with sunken eyes and a cold gaze, clearly someone not easy to deal with. He was extremely thin, as slender as a bamboo pole, a physique rarely seen among professionals. All professionals had undergone countless physical trainings and had excellent physical conditions, so it was unusual to see someone so thin; thus, this guy seemed quite strange.
Fan Zhen laughed loudly, “We need to save our lives? Haha, do you think you can be invincible in the world?”
The man said, “As for fighting others… I don’t know if I can win, but fighting you… no problem!”
Guo Shier couldn’t help but curse, “Damn it, what exactly do you want? If you want to kill us, just do it! Why so much nonsense? It’s annoying! Idiot!”
The man was stunned for a moment. He had a strange feeling—why were these people so calm? But at this point, he had to take action; being scolded by Guo Shier left him in an awkward position. He had no idea what Guo Shier was planning.
Guo Shier was whispering to the handsome old man.
The handsome old man asked, “Have you set your sights on their stuff again?”
Guo Shier chuckled and his soul trembled as he said, “I hate arrogant people the most. They rely on a little strength to act tyrannically. I want to hit them hard! I want to teach these guys a lesson, to make them remember that such behavior is bad… Hmph, they need to learn humility and be good people…”
The handsome old man said impatiently, “Give up. If you want to rob them, don’t make so many excuses!”
Guo Shier laughed awkwardly. “You figured it out? Hehe, these are perfect targets… It would be unjust not to rob them.”
The handsome old man nodded. “I knew it. You planned to rob them from the start!”
Guo Shier said, “Not at all. Look at me… I don’t rob just anyone. Only the bad guys!”
The handsome old man cursed, “You’re the bad guy, a little scoundrel! Hehe, but… I like it!”
Guo Shier shuddered and said, “Don’t say things that make me feel creepy just because you like them.”
The man hesitated. He wasn’t stupid. The other party was too calm, showing no fear at all, clearly not taking him seriously. People who acted like this were either crazy or had something backing them up. He didn’t think Guo Shier was crazy, so it must mean the other party had support. Thus, he found himself in a dilemma.
But Guo Shier’s words were too infuriating, forcing him to respond. He said, “Do you really not want to live? How dare you speak to an elder like that?”
Fan Zhen Tong laughed and said, “I thought he was some kind of delinquent—just good at talking. What kind of ‘senior’ are you anyway? If you don’t want to fight, get lost!”
The man instantly went berserk, throwing aside all caution and shouting angrily, “Die!” A sickly green light sliced through the air with a hissing sound, heading straight for Fan Zhen Tong and Guo Shier. He intended to kill both of them at once.
Neither Fan Zhen Tong nor Guo Shier moved, their faces filled with cold smiles.
Li Ran cursed, “Two useless idiots!” Facing a professional with an eighth-tier altar, he couldn’t afford to be careless. The altar suddenly appeared above his head, adorned with swirling beads. With two crisp sounds, the attacking sacrificial artifact was sent flying.
The man glanced at the altar above Li Ran’s head and felt dizzy. Only then did he understand why Guo Shier and Fan Zhen Tong were so calm. There was a master beyond a ninth-tier altar hidden in their team. All his pomp and show had been met with mockery. Was there really someone as stupid as him in this world? No wonder they called him an idiot—he truly was one.
