Chapter 2: The Great World and the Small World (Part 1)
Li Ran said, “This brings us to the issue of the great world and the small world. What we’re in now is just a complex small world. The world we were in before belongs to the great world—the universe. This place is a soul small world. In other words… once we’re reborn in this world, it’s very difficult for us to leave.”
Guo Shier smiled bitterly. “Is this also one of the reasons why I have such high potential?”
Li Ran replied with a smile, “That’s right. You’re a soul reborn from the great world. In this world, as long as you don’t die, you’re born with high potential—potential to cultivate beyond the ninth-tier altar. But if you die in this small world… with each rebirth, your soul’s potential weakens, until it eventually becomes ordinary.”
Guo Shier broke into a cold sweat. He asked, “If I’m reborn once more, does that mean… I’ll never be able to leave this small world?”
Li Ran smiled. “Correct!”
Guo Shier covered his forehead and sighed, “That’s fatal…”
Li Ran said, “Actually, it’s not that bad. If you keep reborn in small worlds, though you can’t return, your soul can live for a very long time.”
Guo Shier shook his head. He really wanted to return to his original world, but upon reflection, it wasn’t as wonderful as this one. He asked, “What’s the difference between a small world and a great world?”
Li Ran replied simply, “The great world contains small worlds. Small worlds… are just small worlds.”
Guo Shier asked, “Are there many small worlds? What kinds of small worlds are there?”
Li Ran shook his head. “There must be many small worlds, but I only know this soul world. I’m not sure about the others. Unless I can leave here and merge with the main soul, I won’t be able to find out more.”
Guo Shier asked, “Main soul? Split soul? What exactly are those?”
Li Ran said, “They’re not some mysterious thing… uh, you know, I’m a split soul separated from the main soul. I entered this small world, but unfortunately, I’ve been unable to leave. Maybe this time there’s hope, hehe.” He seemed in high spirits.
Guo Shier was confused. “Can souls be divided too?”
Li Ran said, “Of course. But your soul is too weak. Um…” He examined Guo Shieru carefully, his expression shifting slightly, and said, “Strange, your soul is so refined… Unbelievable. I take back what I said earlier. Your soul is very strong. It’s really strange…” He had no idea that Guo Shieru possessed treasures from his past life, such as the Soul Scripture. The Soul Scripture had no offensive or defensive power, but it could enhance the foundation of the soul. In the world of souls, it was a powerful weapon. So even though Guo Shieru was reborn here, his soul would not weaken over time—it would only grow stronger and purer, with his soul power continuously increasing. Li Ran said, “This small world is very suitable for cultivating the soul. Being able to come here isn’t a bad thing.” Guo Shieru smiled bitterly and said, “Yeah, it’s easy to come in, but hard to get out!” Li Ran laughed and said, “If there were a way to leave, that would be amazing. Take me for example—once I leave this world, my split soul might even become stronger than the main soul…” Guo Shieru asked, “Stronger than the main soul… Wouldn’t that be harmful to the main soul?” Li Ran replied, “That’s not the case. The main soul remains the main soul. As long as I leave, I’ll merge with the main soul. My experiences will become the main soul’s experiences—there’s no distinction, and no conflict of interest.” Guo Shieru couldn’t figure out the mystery. After a while, he asked, “Where is your main soul? Is it on Earth?” Li Ran couldn’t help but laugh. “Of course not on Earth. That’s just a split soul. The main soul has countless split souls in the greater world. Once those split souls complete their growth process, they’ll merge with the main soul.” Guo Shieru was stunned. He said, “Damn, then your main soul must be incredibly strong!” Li Ran shook his head. “It’s top-tier, but not the strongest.” Seeing Guo Shieru’s astonished expression, he laughed and said, “But… if I can get out, my main soul will become one of the strongest!” Guo Shieru was surprised. “Do you mean you’ll be stronger than the main soul?” Li Ran replied, “This is a special soul world, designed to strengthen the soul… It’s the best place. You should understand how much your soul has improved since you first came here.” Guo Shieru continued, “What’s the greater world like?” Li Ran said, “The greater world… According to Earthlings, it’s the universe—a boundless universe.”
Guo Shier couldn’t help but say, “Damn, why does it feel so sci-fi?” Fortunately, Li Ran blocked their voices, so those outside couldn’t hear them; otherwise, they would be completely confused, as they probably wouldn’t understand any of this conversation at all.
Li Ran said, “Earth… used to be very powerful, but now it’s not. They can’t leave the solar system.”
Guo Shier was surprised and asked, “So could they before?”
Li Ran replied, “Yes, they could.”
Guo Shier sighed and said, “Then… are those legendary immortals on Earth real?”
Li Ran laughed loudly and said, “It can be said they’re real, but it can also be said they’re not. There are indeed many humans with extremely strong abilities, but… they’re not what you think of as immortals or anything like that. Once you leave this world, you’ll encounter humans from the greater world… well, and many non-humans as well. They also have wisdom, strength, and… so-called technology.”
Guo Shier asked eagerly, “What do they look like?”
Li Ran said, “You’ll find out when you go. Hehe, it’s much more exciting than this small world.”
Guo Shier asked, “If we go outside, can we take the abilities we’ve learned here with us?” This was a question that concerned him greatly. If he became an ordinary person without any abilities after leaving, he couldn’t bear it. After having such great powers, he could no longer tolerate being powerless.
Li Ran said, “I’m not sure either, but I know my soul will remain strong. As for other abilities… only by going outside will you understand.”
Guo Shier asked again, “Are there spaceships in the greater world?” He was really curious.
Li Ran smiled and said, “Of course! Otherwise, how would one move through the universe? Truly powerful beings can move through the universe without spaceships. Hehe, aren’t you excited? Don’t worry, you’ll understand once you go outside. The greater world is the real world—our small world is too limited.”
Guo Shier thought for a moment and said, “By logic, there can’t be just one small world… there must be many, right?”
Li Ran nodded and said, “There are countless small worlds… but without special opportunities, it’s impossible to enter them. Even if you enter, it’s hard to get out. Only the top-tier powerful beings in the greater world can enter certain small worlds. For example, my main soul entered this small world by using a split soul.”
Guo Shier sighed in relief and said, “I want to go to the Greater World! Maybe I can return to Earth again!”
Li Ran replied, “Earth? Don’t even think about it. It’s far too distant. Unless you become one of the top fighters in the Greater World… which is almost impossible.”
Guo Shier smiled and said, “But you’re here. Isn’t your main soul one of the top fighters in the Greater World?”
Li Ran was stunned for a moment before bursting into laughter. “That’s true. But unfortunately… I’m not sure if I can help you. We’ll see when the time comes.”
Guo Shier said, “You’re not sincere!”
Li Ran laughed again and explained, “Shier, since I regard you as a younger brother, I’ll definitely help you. But after I leave, who knows what will happen? So I can’t make any promises. This small world… is just a world entered by a split soul. To allow me to enter this world, my main soul’s strength has dropped by at least one level. And… once I enter, I lose contact with my main soul. So I’m not aware of what’s going on outside.”
Guo Shier said, “Alright, then we’ll talk after I get out.” He knew he was being a bit impatient.
Li Ran said, “I don’t know if I can retain all the skills I learn in this small world after leaving. But it’s definitely a good idea to improve my strength. If you can keep the skills you have here, you’ll be among the top fighters in the Greater World.”
Guo Shier asked doubtfully, “Just among the top fighters?” He knew that being a top fighter didn’t mean invincibility—it just meant being above most people. If you looked higher, there were even more top fighters.
Li Ran said, “In the Greater World, if you can become a top fighter, you can live comfortably. As long as you’re careful, survival isn’t a problem. Of course, to become a true powerhouse, you still need to keep working hard.”
The two of them discussed enthusiastically, ignoring the negotiations taking place in the hall. Suddenly, Luo Jie let out an angry shout, and immediately, a fierce fire erupted around Mi Peng. Black flames surged out from his body layer by layer, and the scorching heat instantly filled the entire hall.
Guo Shier turned around and saw that Mi Peng had already turned to ashes. He asked, “What happened?”
Eagle Demon said resentfully, “It’s this guy who planned to attack our North Talisman Sect. The old master burned him in anger.”
Guo Shier said, “He deserved it!”
