Chapter 5: Blood Soul Altar (Part 1)
The handsome old man said, “Look at the bottom of the altar—it’s dark red… You should be able to smell something, right?” The bottom of the altar was dark red, while the top was bright red, giving off a strange sensation.
Guo Shieru sniffed hard and said, “This smell is familiar… Hmm, it’s the smell of blood, a very strong smell of blood.” It was a smell like rust; he knew right away it was blood.
Eagle Demon also said, “That’s right, it’s the smell of blood. It seems like the smell emitted when a large amount of blood is about to clot. Strange—if it were real blood, it would stink after sitting for a while… But this doesn’t stink; it’s just a strong smell of blood.”
The handsome old man said, “This must be a very rare Blood Soul Altar. I didn’t expect the Gu Mi family to have such a heritage altar… Strange. This kind of altar isn’t suitable for inheritance… Hmm, maybe there’s a complete Blood Soul inside?”
Guo Shieru looked around for a while and said, “This altar is sealed and cannot be used for inheritance.”
The handsome old man said, “This soul entity should be quite precious. Hehe, let me try and see if I can extract it.”
Guo Shieru was a bit worried and said, “I heard the Blood Soul Altar is a bit sinister. Old Man Shuai, should we be careful?”
The handsome old man laughed and said, “It’s fine. No matter how sinister the Blood Soul Altar is, it’s not as sinister as your master’s Soul Altar. The Blood Soul Altar is just a branch of Soul Altars—it’s not that powerful. Of course, it’s much more powerful than ordinary altars. Hehe, let’s see who was sealed inside by the Gu Mi family.”
Guo Shieru had records about the Blood Soul Altar in his soul. He sat on the altar and browsed through his inherited memories. As for extracting the soul entity, that was Old Man Shuai’s task. Soon, he found the relevant records.
Indeed, as the handsome old man said, the Blood Soul Altar was a branch of Soul Altars. Its characteristic was its extreme ferocity on the battlefield—it could devour souls using blood, and the more people died, the greater its power became.
But the Blood Soul Altar also had a flaw: without blood, its soul would weaken. Although there were many battles in the world, large-scale conflicts were rare. If people killed others just to obtain blood, it would anger experts. Like professionals of Soul Altars, professionals of Blood Soul Altars were also targets of everyone’s hatred, like rats in the streets.
Gu Xi Bi’s tentacles smoothly pierced into the Blood Soul Altar. Moments later, the altar began to shake violently. Guo Shieru was slightly startled and said, “Why do I feel this soul is very powerful?”
Old Shuai exclaimed in surprise, “This guy has already become a Blood Soul! How amazing! Haha, what a treasure… Guo Shier, quickly send a message token to call your master!”
Guo Shier raised his hand and shot out a message token. He shared an unspoken understanding with Old Shuai. Sensing a hint of fear beneath Old Shuai’s excitement, he knew there must be a problem, so without asking anything, he immediately sent the token.
In just a few moments, Luo Jie and Qi Nanshan appeared in the air. Luo Jie and Guo Shier also had an extraordinary connection; he knew that since his disciple sent a message token from such close range, he must have encountered trouble.
Qi Nanshan asked, “What’s wrong?”
Luo Jie’s gaze first swept across the altar. He exclaimed in delight, “Damn it… it’s a Blood Soul Altar!”
Qi Nanshan was stunned for a moment before also becoming overjoyed. Using the soul entities from the Blood Soul Altar as sacrificial spirits would be a true treasure for them, and a fully formed Blood Soul would be even more remarkable.
Guo Shier shouted, “Master, it’s a Blood Soul! A complete one!”
Luo Jie ordered, “Good, I’ll take care of it!”
Old Shuai hurriedly said, “Don’t rush! Wait for me to pull it out…” Then his expression changed, and he added, “Damn, what fierce Blood Fiend energy! It can compare to Fire Fiend energy!” Fortunately, the tentacles of the ancient Xi Bi, after being refined by the Fiend energy and combined with the essence of a high-level mutated talisman beast, along with countless precious materials used by Old Shuai for refinement, made them just as resilient as the Blood Souls formed from Blood Fiend energy.
A red figure gradually emerged as hundreds of tentacles forcibly dragged out the Blood Soul. The red figure slowly solidified into a human shape. When the figure was fully formed, everyone was stunned. Guo Shier couldn’t help but sigh, “Damn, it’s another woman! So fierce…”
The Blood Soul turned out to be a woman with beautiful features, but her blood-red color drained all traces of beauty, making her appearance terrifying.
Old Shuai was also shocked. The inheritance altars in Qingdao City did have female souls, but none could compare to this one. The fierce, murderous bloodly aura was truly overwhelming. If not for everyone being seated on the altar, that Blood Fiend energy would likely have struck straight at their souls, leaving them in awe.
Guo Shier wouldn’t dare underestimate the women in this world. Last time, Qi Wu Zhen had already broadened his horizons, so no matter how fierce this Blood Soul was, he could endure it. He shouted, “Master, go!”
The Blood Soul Woman let out a roar, stretched out her hand, and five red illusions, each a meter long, shot out from her fingers. Her body spun rapidly, her hands moving like fans as she slashed frantically. Amidst the howling sound, she managed to sever Gu Xi Bi’s tentacles one after another. The handsome old man shouted, “Retreat!”
Guo Shier retreated at once. Luo Jie was stunned and said, “Wow, she’s that powerful?”
Qi Nanshan yelled, “Hurry up and act!”
The Blood Soul Woman snorted coldly, suddenly transforming into a blood shadow as she left the altar and rushed outward. Guo Shier exclaimed, “Huh? She… she can actually leave the altar!”
The handsome old man had already reacted. He shouted, “We’ve killed quite a few people; there’s blood everywhere…”
The others immediately rode the altar to chase after her. The blood shadow moved as fast as lightning. Guo Shier was horrified, “How can she leave the altar?”
The handsome old man said, “That’s why she was sealed! A Blood Soul is different from a soul entity. Hurry up and chase her! We can’t let her run around…”
Luo Jie was both shocked and excited. “This Blood Soul is indeed a complete entity… Let’s see where you run!” He teleported ahead to block her path. Before he could act, the blood shadow turned into a cloud of blood mist and vanished instantly, reappearing behind Luo Jie as it continued to move forward, even letting out a cold laugh.
Luo Jie yelled in anger, “I… you belong to me!”
Guo Shier almost fell off the altar—such bold words! He followed closely behind Qi Nanshan, chasing desperately.
The handsome old man urged, “Tell everyone not to leave the altar under any circumstances!”
Guo Shier trusted the handsome old man greatly and immediately shouted, “Remember, stay on the altar! Be careful!”
A terrifying scene unfolded. Wherever the blood shadow passed, those hiding in the houses let out screams, their bodies trembling violently as blood sprayed from their orifices, instantly turning into blood mist and flying outward.
The blood mist rose from the houses below and quickly caught up with the blood shadow. The Blood Soul Woman flew close to the houses, with the blood mist behind her forming a wake, a strong smell of blood filling the air. She headed toward the area where the earlier battle had taken place, where there were hundreds of corpses of Holy Masters and Supreme Saints.
The souls of those corpses had been extracted, but their blood remained. Before Luo Jie could teleport there, the Blood Soul Woman dived into the pile of corpses.
Luo Jie arrived shortly after. Not daring to be careless, he immediately unleashed Soul Fire, setting off a massive blaze.
The Blood Soul Woman screamed shrilly as she leaped up from the pile of corpses. She didn’t dare touch the Soul Fire—it was far too powerful. In an instant, the corpses on the ground were reduced to ashes, along with their blood. Yet the Blood Soul Woman had already absorbed quite a bit of blood, significantly boosting her strength.
Luo Jie stared intently at her, while Qi Nanshan blocked her path from behind. Eagle Demon and Nan You, following Guo Shier’s orders, did not chase after her. Their strength was weaker, making it difficult for them to compete with her. Guo Shier hovered on the other side, armed with the formidable soul weapon Gu Xi Bi. The three of them formed a triangle, trapping the Blood Soul Woman in the center.
After absorbing some blood, her body became even more solid. She floated gently, her gaze filled with confusion, seemingly still unsure of what had happened.
Luo Jie said, “This Blood Soul still retains consciousness!”
Suddenly, the Blood Soul Woman spoke, her voice sharp and piercing, like a knife scraping glass, causing everyone’s souls to tremble. “Who are you? Did you pull me out?”
Guo Shier replied, “That’s right. I pulled you out of the altar. Are you a professional from the Gu Mi family?”
The Blood Soul Woman exploded in fury. “Gu Mi family! Is this the Gu Mi family? Bastards! Are you professionals from the Gu Mi family? I’ll kill you all!”
Luo Jie and Qi Nanshan had already unleashed circles of Soul Fire, sealing off the surrounding area.
Guo Shier said, “We’re not from the Gu Mi family. We’re their enemies!”
Her angry mood subsided instantly. She looked at the three of them in confusion before saying, “Enemies? You’re not from the Gu Mi family?”
Luo Jie replied, “The corpses on the ground are the professionals from the Gu Mi family.”
The Blood Soul Woman asked, “Do you want to capture me?”
Luo Jie said, “I need a sacrificial spirit…” He added without any remorse, “If we work together, with you as my sacrificial spirit, you can leave that altar. Without blood, your Blood Soul body will weaken quickly, and you won’t be able to stay outside for long.”
The Blood Soul Woman studied Luo Jie carefully before saying, “Your strength is quite good, and having a Soul Altar will indeed help me a lot. But… why aren’t you a woman?”
Guo Shier burst into laughter.
Luo Jie replied, “Well… there’s nothing I can do about it. I was born male, and I can’t change it.” Their conversation was rather absurd.
The Blood Soul Woman stared at Luo Jie without saying anything again. No one knew what she was thinking.
Luo Jie said with a smile, “I just received a soul entity here. I originally planned to use it as a sacrificial spirit, but after seeing you, I changed my mind. You’re better than him…”
The Blood-Soul Woman replied coldly, “I haven’t agreed yet!”
Luo Jie continued on his own, “Well, it’s the soul entity of an eighth-tier Altar professional, with their memories and consciousness already erased…”
The Blood-Soul Woman was stunned and exclaimed, “A soul entity from an eighth-tier Altar…”
Luo Jie nodded. “Yeah. I never lie. If you’re willing to be my sacrificial spirit, I’ll give you this soul entity.”
The Blood-Soul Woman clearly became interested. Guo Shier held back his laughter. He knew Luo Jie wasn’t lying—there indeed was a soul from an eighth-tier Altar professional—but no matter how he listened, it seemed like the old man was trying to trick her, like a weird uncle tempting a little girl by saying, “I have candy here. Come with me, kid.”
Qi Nanshan also showed a smile.
The Blood-Soul Woman asked, “Really?”
