Chapter 7: Women as Disasters (Part 1)
Huo Fen Tian asked, “Why should we listen to you?”
Guo Shier said, “You’re the senior; it’s better for the juniors to handle these matters. If anything important comes up, then you can make the decision, okay?” He had to lower his tone and coax her.
Huo Fen Tian giggled and said, “Alright, you know how to talk.”
Guo Shier breathed a huge sigh of relief, and the others felt a bit less stressed as well. Huo Fen Tian asked, “Well, can we enter the city now?”
The four of them carried the altar to the city gate. The city was surrounded by a low wall covered with numerous talismans and square pillars, clearly part of a magic array. The so-called gate wasn’t really a gate but rather an opening about twenty meters wide, with a two-story building made of wood and stone beside it. Dozens of low-level apprentices stood there lazily.
Guo Shier and the others surrounded Huo Fen Tian as they walked over.
Only when they got closer did those low-level apprentices notice the altar above their heads and quickly stepped back in fear. The lead apprentice hurried forward to bow, not daring to ask any questions, and just stood aside. After watching them enter the city, he said to another apprentice, “Send a message immediately to the clan—four altar-level experts have entered the city, and their intentions are unknown.”
Guo Shier was satisfied with the low-level apprentices’ behavior, as they didn’t come to cause trouble.
Tianshui City was a medium-sized city but covered a large area, with buildings scattered sparsely. Since land was cheap, each household occupied a vast amount of land. To Guo Shier, it felt like a collection of villages, with wide streets made of gravel, appearing very simple.
It wasn’t until they reached the city center that the buildings on both sides of the streets became denser, with various shops and buildings.
Ying Mo said with a smile, “It’s been a long time since I last ate in the city. How about finding a restaurant to sit down?”
Guo Shier nodded. “That’s a good idea. Restaurants often have more information… Hey, there’s a tavern!”
Taverns didn’t exist in some continents, so it was surprising to find one here. A pole held up a tavern sign with a rune-shaped character for “wine.” He said, “Let’s go there and see what good wines they have.”
Luo Zhan said, “After traveling outside for so many years, I feel like I’m turning into a wildman.”
Nan You said, “Hotels, taverns, wine shops, wineries… there are plenty of them where I come from. Our Gunan clan produces all kinds of fine wines. It’s a shame… we didn’t bring any this time due to the tight schedule.”
Guo Shier said, “That’s nonsense. If you didn’t bring it, don’t talk nonsense. Are you trying to amuse people?” With that, he walked into the restaurant. A waiter similar to a host stepped forward to greet them. By then, the altar above Guo Shier and the others had shrunk to a very small size, hidden in their hair, undetectable by ordinary people. The waiter politely guided them upstairs, and Guo Shier chose a seat by the window. Huo Fen Tian appeared calm; she sat down silently, resting her chin in her hand, her gaze somewhat lost. The soft sunlight streaming through the window illuminated her face, casting a mysterious veil over it. Coupled with her striking beauty, anyone who saw her was struck with amazement. The entire second floor was unusually quiet. Nearly half of the seats were occupied, mostly by professionals. After going upstairs, Guo Shier began to regret it, as Huo Fen Tian was too eye-catching. He had no idea how old she was, but she possessed breathtaking beauty. He could only pray that the local professionals wouldn’t cause trouble. Ying Mo called the waiter and ordered some dishes casually. He asked, “What good wines do you have here?” The waiter replied, “Honey Purple Wine is the most famous wine here.” Ying Mo said, “Good, then I’ll have Honey Purple Wine. Also, bring any special dishes you have.” The waiter glanced secretly at Huo Fen Tian, bowed, and said, “Yes,” before turning to go downstairs. Huo Fen Tian remained silent, looking very quiet. Her calmness didn’t bother them much, but Guo Shier and the others grew uneasy. She was like a super bomb—no one knew when it would explode. Guo Shier tried to start a conversation, saying, “Hmm, I wonder what this Honey Purple Wine is like?” Huo Fen Tian replied, “You’ll know once you try it…” Her voice was clear and sweet, drawing another wave of admiring glances. Guo Shier inwardly smiled bitterly. This woman didn’t even need to do anything—just sitting there was enough to cause trouble. Although professionals usually didn’t bully men or women, it wasn’t impossible for some of them to pursue beautiful women. If it were an ordinary woman, she would have no chance of resisting their advances. Sure enough, before the waiter could bring the wine, a few professionals stood up and walked over. Guo Shier couldn’t help but smile bitterly. If Huo Fen Tian had kept her mask on, she might not have caused trouble, but by removing it, her appearance became too alluring, even for professionals to resist. “Miss, I’m Shui Hengliu from the Gu Shui family. Our master would like you to come and sit with us,” said a professional who looked middle-aged.
Huo Fen Tian showed a hint of mockery at the corners of her mouth. She didn’t even glance at the man, acting as if she hadn’t heard anything, still staring at the streets outside the window.
Shui Heng Liu stepped forward, now standing beside Guo Shier, and said, “Miss, please!”
Guo Shier sighed and said, “Get lost!” He inwardly cursed, Why bother provoking this female demon?
Shui Heng Liu flew into anger and was about to speak when Guo Shier said, “Uncle Eagle Demon, throw him out!”
Huo Fen Tian giggled, clearly interested, tilting her head to watch the spectacle.
Eagle Demon immediately acted, grabbing the man by the neck and flinging him out of the window with force. Then he reached out and threw the remaining professionals beside him out as well.
Huo Fen Tian said indifferently, “It would be better to kill them—no need for trouble.”
Everyone felt a chill. Then someone shouted, “Daring to attack someone from our Gu Shui family? Are you insane?”
Guo Shier held his head and sighed, “Why are these people so stupid?”
A roar came from below. Shui Heng Liu, who had been thrown down, flew back up, shouting, “How dare you hit me!”
Guo Shier snarled, “Uncle Eagle Demon, are you getting old… Mutilate him! So he won’t cause trouble again!” Fearing that Huo Fen Tian might take action herself, he ordered a brutal response to intimidate the opponent.
Eagle Demon laughed, “I am old, no longer as fierce as in my youth. Fine, kid, consider yourself unlucky!” He leaped upward, reaching for Shui Heng Liu’s neck.
Shui Heng Liu was also a martial artist, at the level of a high-ranking Grand Sage. Filled with resentment, he roared and produced a long sword, swinging it angrily.
Then someone said, “Kill the men, take the women away.”
Guo Shier turned to look at the voice. It was a young man dressed in luxurious robes, holding a silver staff that he tapped against his palm, his gaze fixed intently on Huo Fen Tian, his undisguised greed openly displayed. Such people were actually rare in this world—these were the so-called spoiled rich kids.
“Uncle Luo, grab him!”
Luo Zhan appeared in front of the man in an instant and seized him.
Eagle Demon and Shui Heng Liu exchanged blows, easily blocking the sword swing. His arm stretched out abruptly, and he slapped Shui Heng Liu hard across the face. Filled with hatred, Shui Heng Liu swung his sword again. Eagle Demon suddenly disappeared, followed by another loud slap. Shui Heng Liu had no idea how Eagle Demon managed to hit him.
Immediately afterward, thunderous applause erupted like a storm. As he slapped him, the Eagle Demon said, “To keep you restless, to cause trouble for you, to make you…”
Guo Shier couldn’t help but touch his face and said, “Damn, even my face hurts.”
Luo Zhan dragged over the fool who had dared to provoke Huo Fentian, smiling and saying, “It’s a little brat at the Mad Master level.” All the other professionals at that table were knocked to the ground, staring at Luo Zhan in fear.
With one last slap, the Eagle Demon knocked Shui Hengliu to the ground and dragged him over as well.
“Dare you hit me? Dare you hit me! You… you…”
Luo Zhan shouted, “Shut up!” He slapped the man in the face, causing blood to flow from his nose. Since it was a direct hit, perhaps hitting the tendons in his nose, the guy started crying.
Nan Youqi said, “Hey, he’s crying!”
Huo Fentian giggled and said, “Kill the men, take the women… Heh heh, that’s what he said earlier, right?”
Guo Shier felt a chill in his heart. He said, “Uncle Luo, ask this guy where he comes from.”
Luo Zhan grabbed the man’s ear and pulled him over, asking seriously, “Speak up. What’s your name? Why do you want to kill us?” Then, in an innocent tone, he added, “I’m really puzzled. We didn’t say a word to you when we came up, nor did we provoke you. Why be so cruel? Kill the men, take the women? Who do you think you are? Can you decide our fate?”
The Eagle Demon laughed and said, “Lao Luo, you’re really talkative. Just change your name to Talkative, hehe.”
Huo Fentian found them all very amusing and kept giggling nonstop. In fact, she still didn’t realize that even just sitting there, the pressure she exerted on Guo Shier and the others was terrifying.
Other than repeating “Dare you hit me? Dare you hit me… Dare you hit me…”, the man couldn’t say anything else.
