Chapter 5: The Wild Battle Secret Realm (Part 2)
Eagle Demon asked, “What? Is it not enough?”
The guy replied repeatedly, “It’s enough, enough! We still need more!”
Guo Shier waved his hand and said, “I’ll give you the extra.” The four of them turned and walked down from the platform. Along the way, they asked another person before heading toward the entrance of the Wild Battle Secret Realm.
…
The entrance of the Wild Battle Secret Realm was completely beyond Guo Shier’s expectations. It was a huge door with a frame and steps. The frame was clearly added later; the light screen at the entrance matched the frame perfectly, about a hundred meters wide and twenty meters high, looking truly magnificent.
What was even stranger was that there was a huge square in front of the entrance, surrounded by dense buildings. The square was filled with vendors selling goods and numerous snack stalls, making it extremely lively.
Eagle Demon stood in the square, staring in disbelief around him. After a while, he exclaimed, “It’s simply unbelievable.”
Luo Zhan nodded and said, “Yeah. I thought it would be a solemn place, but it’s so noisy and bustling.”
Zhou Xiaoling ran to a small stall, bought a bunch of snacks, including several large packs of preserved fruits, and returned to Guo Shier with a smile, saying, “The preserved fruits here are made very well. Let’s take some to the secret realm.”
Eagle Demon said, “That small stall over there seems to sell books. Shier, go take a look and see if there are any books about the secret realm.”
There weren’t many books at that stall, only about a hundred or so. Upon closer inspection, Guo Shier couldn’t help but sigh bitterly—they were all messy books with no connection to the secret realm.
There were many professionals in the square, mostly mid- to low-level ones; high-level professionals were hardly visible. Luo Zhan said, “Wait for me a moment. I’ll go ask.” He ran over to an intermediate-level professional.
Guo Shier looked at the huge door and said, “Who would be so bored as to add a frame to the entrance of a secret realm?”
Zhou Xiaoling couldn’t help but laugh and said, “It’s indeed boring. Hehe, it’s my first time seeing this too.”
A moment later, Luo Zhan returned and said, “This is just the entrance to the secret realm, with no one in charge. Inside, there’s a small city. It’s only after leaving that city that you enter the actual exploration area. There, you can buy information about the secret realm.”
Guo Shier said, “No wonder. It’s like a market. Well, let’s go in. We actually have to go inside.”
There is also a city in the Wild Battle Secret Realm, called Pioneer City, but with an additional word—Pioneer Inner City. This is where a large number of professionals gather. Guo Shier and the others entered the entrance to the secret realm and found the same stairs. They went down, and below the stairs was another square. This square was different from the one outside—it was clean and tidy, with not many people around.
Guo Shier said with a smile, “This… really seems like a place where professionals live.”
Eagle Demon smiled and said, “Mm, it’s less noisy.” They were all people who traveled constantly on the Secret Realm Continent, used to seeing monsters more often than people, and accustomed to quiet environments. Suddenly arriving in a noisy place made them feel uncomfortable.
Zhou Xiaoling also smiled and said, “Mm, it does feel much more comfortable.”
The four of them chatted as they walked toward the small city.
Soon, they found where the city’s administrators were located. It was an ordinary two-story stone building with a dozen or so professionals inside and a large counter that looked very simple. Guo Shier got a small booklet that listed the basic rules of the secret realm: anyone who left the small city, whether a professional or an ordinary person, would not be held responsible for their life or death.
That sentence was at the beginning of the booklet, followed by descriptions of various shops, as well as the city’s consumption and purchase areas. As for the Wild Battle Secret Realm, there was almost no information about it.
After skimming through the booklet, Guo Shier couldn’t help but say, “What kind of place is this? Once you leave the small city, no one cares if you live or die. Does that mean you can kill anyone in the secret realm based on your strength?”
Eagle Demon also flipped through it and said, “That’s exactly right.”
Zhou Xiaoling shook her head and said, “This is even more cruel than the Bloodthirsty Secret Realm.”
Guo Shier thought of something and said, “It seems there are no restrictions on top professionals entering. So… we might encounter professionals with altars.”
Zhou Xiaoling checked the booklet and said, “There’s a simple diagram on the last page.”
Guo Shier snatched it and examined it carefully, saying, “It’s too simple. It only marks a few areas.”
Zhou Xiaoling said, “It’s better than wandering around blindly.”
Eagle Demon took a look as well and mused, “Not necessarily. Places that everyone knows about can be even more dangerous.”
Guo Shier said, “Whatever. The strength of the four of us is enough to handle ordinary mutated beast spirits and professionals, as long as we don’t run into top professionals with altars.”
Eagle Demon said, “Top professionals won’t just attack randomly. We’ve seen so many of them, and none of them have killed innocents recklessly.”
Guo Shier said, “Maybe we’re just lucky. If we ran into a top-level professional who goes around killing indiscriminately, that would be troublesome… Just like when we were in the Fengling Jade Realm and encountered that expert from the Guxi Long family, who killed several Great Saints in a row.”
Eagle Demon said, “That wasn’t indiscriminate killing.”
Luo Zhan said, “Although it wasn’t indiscriminate killing, we still couldn’t defend against it.”
The four of them didn’t say much more and got up to head outside the small city, arriving at the city gate soon after. There was a large talisman array for defense here, and entry and exit had to go through the city gate.
At the city gate leading to the inner city, there stood two teams of professionals, including two Great Saints. Guo Shier could tell at a glance that they were two lower-level Great Saints; the rest were mostly Mad Masters and Saints, along with dozens of lower-level professionals who served as support.
Eagle Demon stepped forward and asked, “Are there any procedures to go out of the city from here?”
The professional at the gate replied, “No need. Just go straight out; no registration is required.”
Guo Shier asked, “If we come out from inside, do we still not need to register?”
The professional smiled and said, “First time here? No registration is needed for entering or leaving, nor do you need to tell us anything. We’re here only to defend against the mutated talisman beasts inside, not to check those who come in and out.”
Guo Shier didn’t understand why this secret realm had such rules. He asked tentatively, “Are there many professionals coming in and out from here?”
The man replied, “Not many. A few hundred people every day, I guess.”
Guo Shier was puzzled. “A few hundred people every day?”
The man, quite patient, said, “Yeah, usually a few hundred a day. Sometimes it’s a bit more. If a sect organizes its disciples to enter, there could be over a thousand at once.”
Eagle Demon asked, “Are there any rules once you’re inside? Hehe, it’s our first time here.”
The man said, “No formal rules. Well, actually there are two unwritten rules: you’re responsible for your own life, and you must not destroy the altar. That’s about it.”
Zhou Xiaoling couldn’t help but say, “What if someone finds something inside…”
The man replied, “It belongs to the person who finds it. But you have to take good care of it. If someone steals it or kills you, it’s your own fault. No one will stand up for you.”
Guo Shier was extremely curious. He felt there must be some mystery behind it, but he couldn’t figure out what it was. He thanked them and led the three of them out of the city gate.
After flying a distance, Guo Shier hovered in the air and said, “I keep feeling something’s off.”
Eagle Demon, who had also been wandering the outside world for many years, sensed something was amiss and said, “Forget it. Don’t overthink it. Let’s go in and find a suitable altar so that Dingding can inherit the legacy. Then we can search around. If we can find something good, that’s worth it. We can’t control anything else. It’s time to leave this place.”
Guo Shier nodded and said, “That’s right. Whatever schemes or tricks there are, we just need what we want and then leave.”
Zhou Xiaoling grabbed Guo Shier’s arm and said, “Shier, if it’s too dangerous, let’s not stay. Just leave right away. Don’t put everyone in danger just for me.”
Guo Shier smiled and said, “Don’t worry. We have two Grand Sage Masters and two Sage Masters, enough to handle any danger.”
The four of them flew deeper into the Wild Battle Secret Realm. Before long, they encountered the first mutated bird—a level-seven mutated Lightning Owl that soared in the air. It was even larger than the Thunder Eagle, over ten meters long, with black feathers that sparkled with lightning. Upon seeing the four of them, it immediately turned around and charged at them like an arrow.
Guo Shier unleashed the Moon Blade and slashed at it head-on.
It was the first time he had used the Moon Blade since ascending to Senior Grand Sage Master status, and its power had increased by 10%. He knew that if he had time to refine it again, its power could be increased by at least three times. Unfortunately, he had been too busy traveling to spare time for refinement.
The mutated Lightning Owl was extremely fast. It slightly shifted its body and skillfully dodged the Moon Blade’s strike.
Eagle Demon exclaimed, “So fast!”
Guo Shier casually cast a spell and shouted, “Split!” In an instant, the Moon Blade transformed into 360 blade-like fragments, all slashing at once.
Whoosh… Boom!
A layer of electric net appeared on the mutated Lightning Owl’s body, and a blinding white light instantly engulfed the Moon Blade fragments. Guo Shier trembled slightly, his soul also shaking. He cast over a dozen spells in a row and shouted, “Twist!”
The Moon Blade fragments pierced and twisted back and forth, and with a loud explosion, the mutated Lightning Owl shattered.
Eagle Demon was surprised and asked, “A Soul Beast?”
The mutated Lightning Owl turned into a mass of soul energy, reformed once more, and charged at them with a howl.
Guo Shier was also stunned. A Soul Beast acting on its own? This scene was very similar to what he had seen in the Bloodied Secret Realm. After inheriting the legacy, there had been a small trial where Soul Beasts appeared. He never expected to see one again here. But back then, the Soul Beasts were controlled by an altar, while this one seemed to be controlled by something else.
The Spirit Beast’s strength lies in its indestructibility; even if shattered, it will reassemble into a solid form, making it a very troublesome opponent.
The Eagle Demon charged forward. Since ascending to the rank of Junior Talisman Martial Sage, his signature talisman blade had become even more powerful, with its golden long sword slashing through the air like lightning.
Boom!
One slash shattered the Mutated Lightning Owl.
