Chapter 7: The Land of Disgust (Part 1)
Bao Chengyong had obtained the Bai Long Wood, so he had to follow Feng Xilong and act as a scout—this was the condition of their exchange. The others only needed to follow. Fortunately, Bao Chengyong was a skilled expert; though the task was dangerous, it wasn’t enough to put him in a desperate situation.
The Land of Disgust was located in the territory controlled by the ancient Xi Long family, far away from the continents and secret realms under the control of the ancient Mi Luo family. Feng Xilong led the way. Only then did Guo Shier realize that they were using an altar as a portal to enter the Land of Disgust. At the same time, the coordinates available on his cross-continents talisman were limited to the Bo Yan Region. In other words, without the power of Jue Hu Mi Luo, he could only go to the Bo Yan Region and not to other continents or secret realms.
Guo Shier inwardly groaned but didn’t dare show it on his face. First, the coordinates of the Land of Disgust were recorded in the cross-continents talisman. He gave up the idea of escaping immediately and followed these skilled experts forward.
As for Ying Mo, Luo Zhan, and Zhou Xiaoling, they all relied on Guo Shier. They couldn’t think of any way to escape either.
Jue Hu Mi Luo said, “The Land of Disgust is a notoriously dangerous place. The mutated beings living here are our greatest enemies—they are extremely powerful, especially those who have been altered. They have the ability to fight against us. It’s lucky for you that you could follow along and gain experience. With our protection, the danger shouldn’t be too great.”
Guo Shier replied, “Yes, uncle.” Secretly, he resented the fact that he had no say in the matter and was forced to come here.
The land of the Land of Disgust was barren, with a hot and dry climate. There were no trees, only cactus-like plants and a few plants similar to camel thorns. It seemed vibrant and colorful, with towering cactus-like pillars reaching dozens of meters high. On the ground, there were not only clusters of cacti but also some plants Guo Shier had never seen before.
A few talisman eagles circled in the sky. The surroundings were quiet, with occasional bird calls.
Feng Xilong examined the map and soon said, “We’re in the northeast corner. We need to cross the entire Land of Disgust to reach the northwest corner, where the entrance to the Magic Rock Secret Realm lies.”
Bao Chengyong said with a wry smile, “Cross the entire Land of Disgust?”
Feng Xilong nodded and said, “I’m afraid we’ll have to fight our way through.”
Bao Chengyong sighed. “Ugh! I hate mutated beings the most—a bunch of madmen! Once they cling to you, they won’t let go!”
Shi Yanxilong said indifferently, “I hate mutants even more than you do. We’ve been killing them since we were kids. After hundreds of years of killing them, I get sick just at the thought of them!”
Yan Ruodai said, “It’s time to go. I don’t like this place!” She preferred places with lightning and humidity, as such environments were suitable for those with lightning-based skills.
Bao Chengyong said, “Alright, let’s exchange the message tokens.”
Everyone exchanged their message tokens, and Guo Shier and the others also needed to hand over theirs. When exploring the continent or secret realms, exchanging message tokens was a basic preparation step to prevent getting separated.
Bao Chengyong pointed northwest and asked, “Are we just flying over there?”
Feng Xilong replied, “How else do you want to get there? Just go! This continent is completely under the control of the Aberrants. There’s no way you can move there quietly.”
Bao Chengyong cursed and flew toward the northwest, calling out from afar, “Follow me! Keep an eye on my message token!”
Jue Humuiluo said, “Come to my altar.” Only he could release his soul altar, as he had to take four people with him. Without the altar’s help, it would be very difficult—this path wasn’t easy to navigate.
Professionals with soul altars became extremely powerful once they used them. As long as Bao Chengyong’s group didn’t encounter Aberrants, they wouldn’t face much trouble. Mutants posed little threat to them; what they needed to watch out for were the Aberrants and Aberrant beast tokens.
Sitting on the altar, Guo Shier and the others remained silent. The four of them were anxious, unsure of what awaited them ahead. By now, their fate was no longer in their own hands.
Bao Chengyong moved at incredible speed. He didn’t want to attract any Aberrants at all; he just wanted to reach the northwest corner quickly.
Mutants didn’t have settlements like cities. They were somewhat similar to the nomadic tribes from Guo Shier’s past life, but they were even more ferocious. They controlled numerous beast tokens and Aberrant beast tokens, as well as a few Aberrant beast beasts—these served as both their food and combat partners. So when Bao Chengyong saw large numbers of beast tokens and Aberrant beast tokens, he knew he had encountered a mutant tribe.
With a wave of his message token, Bao Chengyong vanished instantly.
Feng Xilong and the others behind him immediately realized there was a mutant tribe ahead. They weren’t there to fight but to enter the Magic Rock Secret Realm, so they planned to bypass this large mutant tribe.
But it wasn’t possible to simply bypass such a large tribe—there were thousands of mutants in it, and among them must be Aberrants.
The Alienated Ones are the leader-class existence among the Mutants, with at least ten of them in this large group. Their strength also varies; the leader of this group is an Alienated One standing ten meters tall, whose power is on par with that of experts who possess Void Altars. When Bao Chengyong flew there secretly, the Alienated One leader sensed something was amiss. He let out a roar, instantly stirring up chaos among the entire Mutant group. Feng Xilong immediately noticed this and cursed under his breath. The Alienated Ones were too sensitive, making it difficult to avoid them. With that roar, dozens of Mutant Giant Eagles took off, each carrying an Alienated One. Soon after, dozens more Mutant Blood Eagles rose into the air. Guo Shieru, sitting on the altar, saw the flying Mutant birds from afar and exclaimed in surprise, “Have we been discovered?” With a roar, a Mutant Blood Dragon over seventy meters long took off, with the Alienated One leader riding on it. Both the Mutant Giant Eagles and Mutant Blood Eagles were over thirty meters long. Hundreds of these Mutant birds flying together created an overwhelming presence; even slight flaps of their wings produced loud roaring sounds. Their cries were filled with excitement and brutality. Feng Xilong said, “This is troublesome. Speed up, speed up!” The group immediately accelerated in an attempt to leave them behind. The Alienated One leader riding the Mutant Blood Dragon kept twitching his nose, making whooshing sounds with each breath. A few seconds later, he determined their location and let out a massive roar. The Mutant Blood Dragon suddenly accelerated, creating a loud roaring sound as it pierced through the air. A group of Alienated Ones riding Mutant birds let out excited howls, driving the birds to pursue frantically. On the ground, a large group of Mutants followed, some running at full speed while others rode Mutant Symbol Beasts, charging forward with howls. The direction the Alienated One leader was pursuing was exactly where Feng Xilong and the others were flying. Yan Ruodai said, “This won’t work. It’s manageable if only one Mutant group is disturbed, but if several are alerted, it will be harder for us to deal with them…” Ling Zhenren said, “Then kill them! Feng Xilong, send a message token to Bao Chengyong and tell him to come back! This guy is such an idiot!” Juehu Miluo said, “You kids, stay put. Sit quietly on the altar. You can’t get involved in this kind of battle.” Guo Shieru nodded and said, “Yes!” He had no intention of getting involved; he had seen just how powerful the Mutants were—they were beyond their ability to handle.
A moment later, Feng Xilong and the others moved far away from the gathering of mutants, reaching a distance of thousands of miles, yet they still couldn’t escape the pursuit of the mutant leader. That guy had an extremely sensitive nose—probably hundreds of times more sensitive than any dog nose Guo Shier had seen in his past life.
Ling Zhenren asked, “Who will take action?”
Bao Chengyong had returned. He was extremely annoyed and said, “Forget it, I’ll do it!”
Ling Zhenren nodded. “One more should be enough. Feng Xilong, it’s your turn.”
Feng Xilong nodded, a murderous intent flashing in his eyes. The professionals from the Gu Xilong family had spent almost their entire lives fighting mutants, giving them vast experience in dealing with them.
Ling Zhenren said, “Yan Ruodai and Shi Yan Xilong, the three of us will stay on guard to prevent any accidents. Juehu Miluo, you protect the kids.”
Juehu Miluo replied, “No problem.”
Guo Shier thought to himself that these guys truly were top professionals. Facing a large group of mutants, along with various mutated birds and other abominations, they only sent two people to fight while the rest just watched. Once again, he felt a strong desire for an altar.
Bao Chengyong activated his altar, and Feng Xilong did the same. Neither of them sat on the altars but stood at their tops, staring coldly into the distance. The murderous intent they exuded could even be clearly felt by Guo Shier and the others.
“They’re coming!”
Ling Zhenren flew back a distance.
Shi Yan Xilong laughed. “If you insist on seeking death, there’s nothing I can do. Hehe.” He also flew back, clearing space for the battle.
Yan Ruodai stepped in front of Juehu Miluo and said, “Shier, you guys can watch.”
Guo Shier replied, “Okay.” Being around such experts, he could only say that—there was no chance for him to speak; the gap in strength was simply too great.
The mutant leader arrived first on his mutated blood dragon. He never expected to encounter such top professionals. Seeing Bao Chengyong and Feng Xilong standing on the altars, he let out a terrified scream. Having fought humans for so long, he certainly understood how powerful professionals with altars could be.
The mutated blood dragon was around level 10, one level higher than Guo Shier’s Giant Nest Dragon. More importantly, it wasn’t a Spirit Beast but a true mutated talisman beast. Spirit Beasts could never compare to mutated talisman beasts that had physical forms. If a Giant Nest Dragon fought against a Giant Nest Dragon formed from a spirit, both being at the same level, the Spirit Beast would surely lose.
Bao Chengyong sneered, “Trying to run now? Die!”
That alien leader wasn’t foolish at all; he didn’t dare engage Bao Chengyong head-on and immediately ordered the mutated blood dragon to turn around. But with its massive size, it was extremely difficult for the mutated blood dragon to turn, especially since it had just rushed here at full speed—changing direction instantly was almost impossible.
