Chapter 10: The Thousand Rock Continent (Part 2)
Eagle Demon said, “If you can advance to the Void Mirror and establish your own virtual altar, then you won’t have to worry.”
Zhou Xiaoling widened her eyes and said, “Are you joking?”
Eagle Demon replied seriously, “I’m not joking!”
Zhou Xiaoling said, “The Void Mirror… So many high-ranking Great Saints get stuck at this stage. It’s not that simple!”
Guo Shier said, “I know it’s not easy, but if we don’t strive to achieve it, we’ll always be mere pawns for others! If I were an expert at the Void Mirror, how could I have been captured and brought to this hellish place?”
As an elite disciple from a major sect, Zhou Xiaoling knew quite a bit and said, “There are very few experts in our Fire Sect who can advance to the Void Mirror. It’s too difficult—just having determination isn’t enough.” Though she knew a lot, she wasn’t as fearless as Guo Shier.
Eagle Demon shook his head. “Ding ding, when I first followed Shier, he was just a spellcaster. It’s only been such a short time… and he’s already a junior Great Saint. I was a junior master back then, and now I’m a high-ranking Saint. Back then… it was me who was killed. I never thought I’d reach this level. Ding ding, I believe in Shier—he will definitely be able to advance to the Void Mirror!”
Eagle Demon had even more confidence in Guo Shier than Guo Shier had in himself, to the point of blind trust. No matter what Guo Shier did, he would support him and believe in him. By the standards of the followers of the Northern Spell Gate, he was an excellent follower.
Having grown up in the Fire Sect, Zhou Xiaoling didn’t believe it could be that easy, but she stopped arguing and asked, “Shier, where did you get the coordinates? Tell me… This place is extremely far from our Earth Fire Continent. Not to mention that you’ve been here before…”
She didn’t really need to know the origin of the coordinates; she just felt that Guo Shier was hiding something from her, giving her a sense of not being trusted.
Guo Shier smiled bitterly. He didn’t want to hide anything from Zhou Xiaoling, but he didn’t want to reveal this secret either. He said, “Ding ding, there are some things I can’t tell you… But I’ll tell you this: I know the coordinates of this Spell Gate because I received an inheritance that recorded it. As long as you enter a Spell Gate, you can use it.”
Seeing Guo Shier’s troubled expression, Zhou Xiaoling’s heart softened; she realized she had been being too pushy. Professionals all have their secrets and dislike others prying, but subconsciously, she had treated Guo Shier as one of her own, which was why she kept asking. Fortunately, Guo Shier spoke sincerely, which made her feel much better.
“Okay, okay, I was just joking… Why are you so serious?”
Guo Shier was stunned. Even after three lifetimes, he still didn’t fully understand girls’ minds. After a while, he sighed and said, “Sigh, I was joking… I mean, Dingding, who jokes this seriously?”
Zhou Xiaoling straightened up, twisted her slender waist slightly, tilted her head, and said playfully, “I like it!”
Guo Shier suddenly remembered a saying from his past life: Women are unreasonable. He resigned himself to it and smiled tolerantly, “Alright, since you’re joking, then… let’s do it, hehe.”
Eagle Demon couldn’t help but laugh, watching the two bicker. He felt relaxed, as if watching his own children play.
Zhou Xiaoling proudly raised her head and rolled her eyes at him.
Guo Shier couldni resist anymore and said, “Be careful!”
Zhou Xiaoling asked curiously, “Be careful of what?”
Guo Shier replied, “Be careful not to roll your eyes too hard… If you can’t bring them back, it’ll be troublesome.”
Zhou Xiaoling snapped, “What if I can’t bring them back?”
Guo Shier whispered, “Then you’ll become a heartless person…”
Amused, Zhou Xiaoling jumped up and pounced on him. Caught off guard, Guo Shier was pushed to the ground. In an instant, both of them froze.
Eagle Demon clearly saw a hint of red on Guo Shier’s face, while Zhou Xiaoling’s whole face was red. Realizing her actions were a bit reckless, she quickly got up and ran away.
Guo Shier scratched his head and said with a wry smile, “I went too far with the joke…”
Eagle Demon couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
…
Yi Qiaoxilong had fine clothes sent over for Guo Shier to change into. Eagle Demon and Zhou Xiaoling also received a set, but different from Guo Shier’s, theirs were servant’s clothes that still looked exquisite.
All the great priests brought by Ban Xilong changed into his family’s clothes. The group flew gloriously over Stone City and landed in front of a building on its west side.
A group of great saints stood at the entrance to greet them. The leader was a tall man over two meters tall, with a full beard and a shaved head. There were seven or eight bright red runes on his head, and his eyes were deeply set in his sockets. He wore a loose robe of dark blue, looking very serious. When he saw Ban Xi Long arrive, he stepped forward and said, “Lord Ban, welcome.”
Ban Xi Long replied calmly, “Thank you, Weiya Miluo. Is the old master here?”
Weiya Miluo nodded and said, “We’ve been waiting for your arrival. Please come in!” After saying that politely, he turned and led the way.
Guo Shier and the other two mixed in the crowd and followed inside.
In the stone hall, a frail old man was sitting, surrounded by a dozen great saints. When Ban Xi Long entered, he slowly stood up. Ban Xi Long stepped forward quickly and said respectfully, “Old master, it’s been a long time. How have you been?”
The old man nodded and smiled, “Xiao Ban, you’re doing well. I heard you’ve established your own family. I haven’t yet congratulated you.”
Ban Xi Long stepped forward to help the old man sit down, then sat beside him and said with a smile, “The family has been around for nearly a hundred years. Hehe, I’ve never had the chance to meet you before.”
Guo Shier hid in the crowd, looking curiously at the old man, and asked in a low voice, “Who is he?”
One of the great saints replied, “He is the patriarch of the Gu Miluo family, Lord Yan Miluo. The old master usually resides on the Qianyan Continent.”
“The patriarch?”
Another great saint said, “The patriarch holds a very high status. He has great power within the Gu Miluo family. However, the old master dislikes complicated affairs and lives in seclusion here. The real person in charge here is that tall man, Weiya Miluo.”
Guo Shier nodded. These great saints weren’t friendly toward Guo Shier, but they were all shrewd and wouldn’t reveal their thoughts. They all knew Ban Xi Long valued Guo Shier greatly, so no one dared to provoke him.
After exchanging a few words, Ban Xi Long and Weiya Miluo supported the old man on either side as they entered the inner room, leaving the others in the hall. As soon as the three left, the great saints began to gather together and chat.
Guo Shier, Ying Mo, and Zhou Xiaoling stood in a corner of the hall. They didn’t want any relationship with these people, as they didn’t know whether they would be friends or enemies in the future. If they got a chance to escape, they would surely be pursued by the Gu Xi Long family.
Ying Mo glanced around and saw that no one was paying attention to them. He said, “I wonder what Lord Ban is doing here? It’s so mysterious…”
Guo Shier whispered, “It’s none of our business. As long as what they’re doing doesn’t involve us, it’s fine.”
Zhou Xiaoling said, “It’s hard to say. Who knows what will be discussed? It might even involve us.”
Guo Shier couldn’t help but laugh and say, “Dingding, we’re just little people with some potential. We’re not useful enough yet, so Lord Ban won’t let us take risks… Pigs aren’t slaughtered until they’re fully fattened.”
Zhou Xiaoling retorted, “That’s such a crude way of putting it. You’re the pig! A big pig!”
Eagle Demon found something odd about Zhou Xiaoling’s tone—seemingly a hint of coquettishness. He glanced at the two of them with a smile, while Guo Shier’s attention had already turned to the entrance. At that moment, eight people walked in from outside.
Leading them was a young girl, looking no older than fifteen or sixteen, dressed in extremely gorgeous clothes. It was unclear what material they were made of, but they emitted a faint glow. As she walked, the glow trailed behind her, forming a faint shadow.
The girl walked into the hall with a smile. She seemed surprised by the large crowd and showed a hint of shock, but quickly regained her composure. The great masters of the Gu Mi Luo family immediately gathered around her, each vying to greet her.
“Hello, little princess…”
“Hello, Yi Er…”
“It’s an honor to meet you, little princess. Hehe, here’s a small gift for you to play with.”
“Yi Er, why have you come?”
The girl seemed to have considerable influence, drawing so many great masters from the Gu Mi Luo family to try their best to catch her attention. The great masters of the Gu Xi Long family stood aside, observing—knowing too that this girl was no ordinary person.
After a quick glance, Guo Shier realized she was a junior master, with a progression speed no less than his own.
The girl asked, “Where has Grandfather gone?”
Someone immediately replied, “Elder Yan went inside…”
Just as she was about to enter, two great masters stepped forward and explained, “Ai Yi Mi Luo, don’t rush in. Elder Yan ordered that no one should disturb him.” These two great masters were professionals following Yan Mi Luo and held high status, so the girl had no choice but to obey.
Ai Yi Mi Luo nodded slightly disappointedly and said, “Alright, I’ll wait in the hall.”
Guo Shier said to Eagle Demon and Zhou Xiaoling, “We might have to wait for a while. Let’s sit down.” Ignoring any rules in place, he sat down against the wall. Eagle Demon smiled and sat down as well.
Zhou Xiaoling remained standing, too embarrassed to sit down there.
Ai Yi looked around in Miluo and suddenly saw Zhou Xiaoling standing in a corner. Everyone here was a great sage, older than the last, so she couldn’t find anyone her own age. Seeing that Zhou Xiaoling seemed to be around the same age as her, she couldn’t help but smile and walked over straightaway.
Guo Shier saw everything clearly. He didn’t know who this girl was, but he knew her status must be very noble within the ancient Miluo family. Watching her walk over, he couldn’t help but frown.
