Chapter 8: Departure (Part 2)
Saka Kiryu landed, and on several occasions, critical situations made him almost unable to resist taking action. Fortunately, his subordinates performed well, so he was in a good mood. Seeing Guo Shier preparing to collect Soul Beads, he waved and called out, “Guo Shier, come here.”
Guo Shier felt annoyed. He had only managed to gather five Soul Beads when Saka Kiryu called him over. He had no choice but to fly over and ask, “Lord Saka, what is your command?”
Saka Kiryu asked, “Are you collecting Soul Beads?”
Guo Shier replied, “Yes. We need to hurry, otherwise the souls will dissipate. These are points.” He deliberately acted greedy.
Saka Kiryu said, “Don’t worry about points. Since you’re following me, you’ll have plenty.”
Guo Shier inwardly smiled bitterly. What he wanted were not points but Soul Beads, which were essential for strengthening his soul. He said jokingly, “Lord Saka, better to get something than waste time.”
Saka Kiryu shrugged indifferently, “Alright, go ahead. Hehe, this kid lacks experience… Look at my subordinates—who would bother collecting Soul Beads?”
Guo Shier also noticed that none of Saka Kiryu’s subordinates were collecting Soul Beads, leaving the corpses of the mutated creatures to pile up. Although Eagle Demon couldn’t collect Soul Beads, he could dig up Red-Eyed Pupils and was already busy at the valley entrance. Guo Shier rushed over and started frantically collecting Soul Beads. Saka Kiryu couldn’t stand by any longer. He reached out and grabbed everything in the air, causing all the corpses to float up before falling back down. Strings of formed Soul Beads rained into his hands, which he immediately placed into a talisman bag. Only then did he nod in satisfaction.
Guo Shier was devastated. There was no way to deal with this—just a few Soul Beads, why fight over them with me?
Saka Kiryu threw the talisman bag out and shouted, “Catch!”
Guo Shier caught it eagerly, overjoyed. A quick glance showed him that there were at least three hundred Soul Beads inside. The souls of the other mutated creatures had already dissipated, and even Saka Kiryu’s direct intervention hadn’t helped. He realized that if he had tried on his own, he could have gathered at most a few dozen due to lack of time.
Guo Shier said, “Thank you, Lord Saka.” He hadn’t expected Saka Kiryu to help him. Up to this point, he still didn’t realize how enviable his potential was. Saka Kiryu hoped Guo Shier would serve him in the future, so he needed to show some kindness. With experts, coercion and threats wouldn’t work—such methods might succeed temporarily but not for life.
At that moment, countless small insects crawled out of the ground and quickly devoured the bodies of the mutated beings. Eagle Demon had to leave; he had dug up hundreds of Red-Eyed Pupils. Guo Shier also kept some Red-Eyed Pupils, but he hadn’t yet found a way to use them. After living at the valley entrance for about a month, the mutated beings didn’t reappear, as if they had vanished forever. This time, despite the large-scale appearance of the mutated beings, the casualties among the professionals weren’t too severe, indicating that the Gu Xi Long family was well-organized and provided timely support. Yet Guo Shier knew that if they hadn’t formed a talisman array to fight back, at least half of the professionals in Camp 27 would have died or been injured. That day, Ban Xi Long gathered all professionals above the rank of Grand Sage. He left over eighty Grand Sages to guard the valley entrance, while the rest followed him away, including Guo Shier and Eagle Demon. Ban Xi Long’s flying vehicle was quite ordinary; he asked Guo Shier to follow him into the same vehicle. Guo Shier asked, “Lord Ban, where are we going?” Ban Xi Long replied, “The Gu Xi Long Continent.” Guo Shier was slightly stunned. An advanced Grand Sage beside him said, “The Gu Xi Long Continent is the home of the Gu Xi Long family. Only core disciples are allowed to enter it.” The Grand Sage added, “You’re really lucky. By following Lord Ban this time, you can enter the Gu Xi Long Continent directly.” Ban Xi Long replied calmly, “This isn’t luck. He deserves it!” Those words left the Grand Sage speechless. They also sent a clear message to all the Grand Sages present: Ban Xi Long valued Guo Shier greatly, without any doubt. Guo Shier didn’t know what to say and could only remain silent. Ban Xi Long was already quiet, so the entire vehicle fell silent. Guo Shier simply closed his eyes. He didn’t dare recite scriptures either and could only silently browse through his inherited memories, as there was still much knowledge he hadn’t mastered. After about half a day, the flying vehicle slowly landed. Upon stepping out, they saw a large campsite. This was Camp 1 in the Bo Yan Region. A group of Grand Sages were waiting not far away. One advanced Grand Sage stepped forward and asked, “Lord Ban, are we returning today?” Ban Xi Long nodded and said, “Take us to the Talisman Gate.” The man bowed respectfully and said, “Please!” Some of the Grand Sages following Ban Xi Long left the group; they were originally professionals from Camp 1. Guo Shier followed Ban Xi Long forward and soon entered the main campsite.
The main camp was very bustling, with a huge area—Camp 27 couldn’t compare to it at all. There were over 300,000 professionals here, including tens of thousands of advanced ones. Following Ban Xi Long, the group headed toward the center of the camp. Just then, Guo Shier heard a familiar voice: “Bastard! Leave me alone! Get lost! Go far away!” The curses came from behind a tent. Without hesitation, Guo Shier rushed over, with Eagle Demon close behind. Soon, they heard Guo Shier shout, “Ding ding!” Ban Xi Long immediately stopped, and the others followed suit. Zhou Xiaoling’s face turned red as she waved her talisman sword frantically. In front of her were three Grand Masters, all at the beginner level. The middle-aged man at the head said, “Another fool who’s come to die! Kid, mind your own business. You can’t afford to mess with the Gu Xi Long family!” Guo Shier ignored him and asked, “Ding ding, why are you here too?” Exhausted both physically and mentally, Zhou Xiaoling had been harassed by this middle-aged man for a long time, unable to escape. She was so annoyed she wanted to kill him with her sword, but her strength wasn’t enough, and since he was a disciple of the Gu Xi Long family, she felt utterly helpless. Seeing Guo Shier and Eagle Demon rushing over, she was overjoyed and cried out, “Shier! Uncle Eagle Demon!” Instantly, her eyes reddened, and she looked on the verge of tears, as if she had suffered greatly. Having been captured for so long with no familiar faces around, meeting her old companions made her lose control of her emotions. Guo Shier hurriedly said, “Ding ding, don’t cry, don’t cry…” Wah! Wuhu! It would have been fine if he hadn’t said anything, but as soon as he did, Zhou Xiaoling burst into tears. She threw herself into Guo Shier’s arms and cried, “I can’t go back! Wuhu, I can’t go back…” Eagle Demon sighed bitterly. Indeed, they couldn’t go back. They had also tried to escape, searching for an opportunity. Zhou Xiaoling was just a girl with no one to consult with, making escape even harder. She must have suffered a lot. Guo Shier held her and patted her back gently, saying, “Don’t cry… Ding ding, don’t cry…” Even though he was resourceful, he was also flustered by Zhou Xiaoling’s crying, unable to say anything other than “don’t cry.”
The middle-aged great sage’s eyes seemed to sprout flames as he said coldly, “Kid, get away! Or you’re dead!” He had already seen the talisman tied around Guo Shier’s waist and realized he wasn’t a professional from their family but an outsider who only knew Zhou Xiaoling—perhaps they were from the same sect—so he threatened him carelessly.
Zhou Xiaoling cried out, “That bastard is bullying me… He’s bullying me!”
The middle-aged great sage sneered, “I’m not bullying you; I’m doing this for your own good… As a low-level sage, following me…”
Before he could finish, Guo Shier turned and shouted, “Get lost!”
The middle-aged great sage flew into a rage and roared, “Seeking death!” He quickly drew out his life talisman—a snake-like weapon that was quite strange—and wrapped it around Guo Shier.
Eagle Demon shouted, “Be careful!”
Guo Shier didn’t bother to say more. With a casual swing, the Moon Blade appeared and struck the strange snake-shaped talisman head-on.
Boom!
The Moon Blade was a life talisman blade that could challenge opponents of higher ranks, and although Guo Shier hadn’t fully mastered it yet, the power of his casual strike was already immense.
As soon as the middle-aged great sage’s life talisman touched the Moon Blade, his expression changed—he never expected it to be so powerful. He had only intended to threaten them, so he hadn’t used much force, but he had no idea that Guo Shier was already furious and had gone all out.
Fortunately, there were two other great sages beside him who reacted quickly. When the snake-shaped life talisman shattered, the two great sages each summoned a defensive shield to block the attack. With two loud explosions, all three were thrown aside, spewing blood mid-air. They were no match at all.
Guo Shier released his hand and said, “Ding ding, go to your uncle.”
The Moon Blade suddenly grew to over eight meters long, circling above his head with an eerie whistling sound. Guo Shier ordered coldly, “Get moving! Keep fighting!”
This attack alarmed the professionals in the camp.
The senior great sage leading the group paled and stepped forward. Ban Xilong said calmly, “Don’t interfere!” He slowly flew into the air and watched Guo Shier fight. The patrol team rushed over quickly but was stopped by the senior great sage. Since Lord Ban said not to interfere, they really didn’t dare.
Guo Shier said coldly, “Is it that great to bully a little girl?”
The three of them were extremely angry. After being struck by Guo Shier, all three suffered minor injuries. What hurt the middle-aged Great Sage the most was that his snake-shaped life talisman had shattered, causing him unbearable pain. He shouted, “You’re dead! You’re dead! Daring to attack a disciple of the Gu Xi Long family… you’re dead!”
All the foreign professionals had grim expressions, staring at him intently, ready to step in and help.
Someone called out from afar in a mocking tone, “So you’re the disciple of the Gu Xi Long family? Then we’re just trash…”
Others said, “If you’re so capable, kill us all…”
“It must be so impressive to bully a little girl. The Gu Xi Long family is truly mighty!”
It was filled with sarcasm, making the Great Sage’s face turn pale and red alternately.
Most of the people here were foreign professionals, and these three had already provoked widespread anger.
Guo Shier, knowing the local rules, asked calmly, “Dare you duel me?” Such challenges were common in the camp, and no one would interfere.
The middle-aged Great Sage’s face turned deathly white. His life talisman had been severely damaged just from touching Guo Shier’s moon blade. Of course, he knew the man in front of him was not someone to mess with.
Ban Xi Long had a dark expression, seemingly lost in thought.
