Chapter 5: The Ancestor of the Fire Sect (Part 2)
Guo Shier asked, “Ancestor, what’s wrong?”
The Ancestor replied, “Amazing! One of the Four Ancient Great Families… the legacy of the Gu Miluo Family, a legendary family. Huh? You two kids have also received the legacy!” He then noticed the marks on Ying Mo and Luo Zhan’s foreheads.
Guo Shier was surprised. “Four Ancient Great Families? Is that even possible?”
The Ancestor said, “Since you’ve received the legacy, you should know that the place we’re in—whether it’s a continent or a secret realm—is merely the periphery of the world of ancient rune users. Although there are countless continents and secret realms, they’re far inferior to the world where the ancient rune users live. When you reach my level, you’ll realize that learning spells here is meaningless. But I’m attached to my hometown and unwilling to stay there for long, so I returned.”
Guo Shier was stunned. There was no record of this in his inherited memories. He thought advanced continents were already the highest-level ones, not realizing they were still just on the fringes of the spell world. He sighed and asked, “Has the Ancestor been there?”
The Ancestor replied, “I lived there for over two hundred years. Hehe, you’ll go there too in the future.”
Guo Shier shook his head. “I’m not considering it for now. My strength is too weak.”
The Ancestor said, “Of course. It’s too dangerous to go now… Huh, someone’s coming.” Then he added, “Strange. They’re heading straight here. They must be looking for you.”
Guo Shier turned to look at Ying Mo and Luo Zhan. Ying Mo asked, “Could it be professionals from the Nest Sect?” His first thought was that someone from the Nest Sect was chasing after them.
The Ancestor asked, “What Nest Sect? Isn’t the Nest Sect just a small sect on our Earth Fire Continent? What’s the matter between you?”
Guo Shier didn’t hide anything and recounted the whole story without exaggeration or distortion.
The Ancestor nodded. “I see. You’re quite brave, kid. You dared to enter the Yu Mo Ze even after becoming a Saint Master. Amazing!” He didn’t think Guo Shier was at fault at all. Anything could happen in the wild. If everyone blamed others for everything, the entire spell world would fall into chaos.
Guo Shier smiled bitterly. “I didn’t know Yu Mo Ze was a dangerous place. I just blundered my way in.”
The Ancestor said, “Hmm, they’ve already surrounded my small boat.” A strange expression appeared on his face. Guo Shier shook his head inwardly. These professionals from the Nest Sect had no idea who they had surrounded. The owner of this small boat was a highly respected top figure in the Fire Sect. Even the sect master would greet him with respect.
Guo Shier said, “Ancestor, let me go handle this. I’m sorry for causing you trouble.”
The Ancestor showed a mischievous smile and said, “Perfect. I want to see what kind of strength you have. Let’s go together.”
The four of them walked to the bow of the ship. Dozens of professionals were already hovering in the air around them, most of them Saints, with a few Mad Masters keeping watch at a distance. Leading them was the Great Saint Jia Tai, who had a gloomy expression. When he saw Guo Shier and the others coming out, he flew down and stood at the bow, with two other Great Saints following behind him.
Guo Shier asked, “Who are you looking for?”
Luo Zhan stared at Xie Rongcheng not far away and said, “Hey, Xie Rongcheng. There’s no need to bring so many people to take revenge just because you lost a fight.”
Xie Rongcheng’s face turned red instantly as he snapped angrily, “Who cares about winning or losing against you!”
Luo Zhan said, “Then why did you bring so many people? How shameless!” He couldn’t help but curse loudly.
Jia Tai said coldly, “This has nothing to do with the fight a couple of days ago. Last time you came out of Yumoze, you caused dozens of our disciples to die. Is that just going to be forgotten?”
Guo Shier replied, “When exploring in the wild, anything can happen. What do you want to do?”
Jia Tai said grimly, “Nothing much. Just your lives!”
The Ancestor frowned slightly and said calmly, “If everything like this requires a life in return, wouldn’t professionals be wiped out? You’re going too far.”
Jia Tai carefully examined the Ancestor, but he couldn’t tell what level of professional the Ancestor was, not even whether the Ancestor was a professional at all. Worrying, he cast a spell on his eyes and examined the Ancestor again, still unable to determine anything. He had been extremely cautious, but he never expected that the Ancestor was actually a super expert with a Soul Altar.
“What are you anyway! Stop causing trouble and get out of the way!”
After saying this, Jia Tai felt uneasy, though he didn’t know why.
The Ancestor said calmly, “And what are you? What would you do if I didn’t step aside?”
Guo Shier was extremely worried. The Ancestor was actually playing a trick on him.
Jia Tai’s mind stirred slightly. He wasn’t stupid. This person didn’t seem like a professional, but his speech sounded like that of a professional. There must be something wrong. He said, “Please don’t interfere! This is between us.” The professionals around them were stunned. Since when had Jia Tai become so easy to talk to?
The reason Guo Shier didn’t hurl insults was that he felt somewhat at fault in this matter, but he definitely wouldn’t let the other party take advantage of him.
The Ancestor smiled and said, “This kid is my guest. How can I not intervene?” He provoked the other party in a subtle way.
Jiagao suddenly became furious. He had gone through so much trouble to follow them only to be blocked by an old man. He found it unbearable. As a great sage, he also had his pride, and he said, “Old man, don’t be so ungrateful!”
The Ancestor asked with interest, “Oh? If you won’t show me respect, what will you do?”
Provoked to the extreme, Jiagao lost all sense of reason and shouted, “Kill you too!”
Hearing this, Guo Shier, Eagle Demon, and Luo Zhan all broke into cold sweats. This guy really dared to say he wanted to kill the Ancestor of the Fire Sect—he had no idea what heaven and earth were.
The Ancestor laughed heartily. He hadn’t been this happy in ages. Teasing this kid was also a good pastime.
Jiagao’s face turned pale. He was angry at the Ancestor. He had thought that by surrounding Guo Shier and the others, they would beg for mercy desperately. Instead, not only were they unafraid, but some strange old man also stepped in to stop him from taking revenge. He was furious. Moreover, after checking repeatedly, he couldn’t see that the Ancestor was a professional.
Guo Shier felt relieved. With the Ancestor involved, these people surely posed no threat. He asked, “Do you plan to fight as a group or one-on-one?” He was asking according to the rules professionals use to resolve disputes.
Jiagao replied coldly, “I don’t intend to follow professional rules!” He shouted, “Attack together! Kill them! We can’t stay here any longer!” He hated Guo Shier deeply and only wanted to kill him.
The Ancestor put away his smile and said calmly, “Since when has the Earthfire Continent become like this?”
Jiagao already wanted to kill and destroy everything, so he didn’t care what the other person said. He replied coldly, “The Earthfire Continent has always been like this… Hmph. If you were disciples of the Fire Sect, maybe I would hesitate a bit. But you’re just wandering professionals. If you die, who will care? Old man, consider it bad luck of yours. Don’t blame me if you die!”
The Ancestor laughed again in anger, marveling, “Tsk tsk, truly impressive. This is the first time I’ve seen a Chao Sect professional so formidable.”
With an angry thump on his chest, Hyperthyroidism cast a series of spells. Instantly, a translucent form of a mutated golden armor appeared from within his body and merged with him, forming a half-human, half-insect creature that was truly terrifying. He sneered and said, “I’ll personally send you all to your deaths. The others, stay alert and make sure they don’t escape!”
Guo Shier and the other two remained motionless. With the Ancestor around, they simply watched the situation with interest.
Hyperthyroidism had also lost his head. At first, he still had some sense, but soon his anger clouded his judgment. He had originally planned to fight them all together, but now he wanted to take on each opponent alone. It wasn’t surprising—as an intermediate Grand Sage, he indeed had the strength to face three people at once.
The Ancestor smiled and said, “Kid, fight him!”
Guo Shier pointed at his own nose and said, “Are you kidding? He’s an intermediate Grand Sage, and I’m a senior sage… How can we even fight?”
The Ancestor laughed and said, “I have faith in you!”
Guo Shier suddenly thought of the Ancestor as a heartless old man and said, “He has so many helpers…”
The Ancestor replied, “Don’t worry. They won’t interfere. Oh, and go fight over there. Don’t damage my boat—it’s my residence.”
Hyperthyroidism felt something was off. The opponent was too calm. But by this point, he had no choice.
The Ancestor waved his hand, and suddenly a gust of wind blew, moving everyone hovering in the air, including Guo Shier and the others on the deck at the bow, to a small island nearby. Smiling, he said, “Fight here! Everyone else, stay still!”
Hyperthyroidism felt a chill rush to his forehead. He immediately realized that the Ancestor was the true master of spells, and a top-tier one at that. Before he could even react, he was moved to the island. Thinking about what he had just said, cold sweat poured down his face like rain.
With his hands behind his back, the Ancestor said, “Kid, let me see your strength.”
Guo Shier replied, “Alright, I’ll give it a try!” Before he could finish speaking, the Moon Blade appeared in front of him. Ever since he reforged the Moon Blade, he had wanted to test it. At the North Talisman Gate, out of fear of destroying Luo Jie’s estate, he had only tried it a little before putting it away, so he didn’t know exactly how powerful it was.
All of Hyperthyroidism’s men were unable to move, seemingly bound by some force. They could only hover in the air, unable to fly or land, their faces pale as they watched. Only Hyperthyroidism himself could move freely.
The Ancestor said, “You’re too close. Back off a bit!” With another wave of his hand, the people in the air were pulled backward as if tied by steel cables, scattering rapidly and clearing a large area.
The Ancestor smiled and said, “It’s time to start. Little guy, be careful—he’s not weak at all.”
Jia Tai’s face turned pale as he realized he had encountered a master he absolutely couldn’t afford to provoke. Forcing himself to speak, he said, “What do you want?”
The Ancestor replied calmly, “I don’t want anything. It’s you who keeps shouting for fighting. Then I’ll fulfill your wish and let you have your fight!”
Jia Tai cast a desperate glance at the Ancestor, inwardly wailing, “Damn it! Why am I so unlucky?”
Guo Shier was already ready, eager for action. He said, “Let’s go!”
