Chapter 6: Annihilation (Part 2)
Guo Shier and the three others remained in a secret realm. It was only then that Qi Nanshan explained, “I learned from the soul memories of that great sage that the old man is safe—for now, at least, as he hasn’t been captured by the Star Sect.”
Monier’s expression changed upon hearing this. It was the first time she had heard that memories could be obtained from someone’s soul—this was truly terrifying. No wonder the Black Sigil Men were the public enemies of professionals; just this skill alone was enough to be unbearable, not to mention their ability to use Soul Sigil Fire. The Black Sigil Men were nothing short of deadly weapons.
Guo Shier said cheerfully, “Great!”
Qi Nanshan continued, “The Star Sect has large detection sigil discs that can track us. Last time, it was because we encountered the Sky Snake Calamity Turtle in the bay peninsula of the secret realm, causing many casualties. One of their men died at sea with a large detection sigil disc… Their grand elder, Ao Kuang, pursued them deep into the sea, but unfortunately, they ran into a storm, which caused them to lose our trail.”
Guo Shier exclaimed in shock, “Damn, they’re so powerful… They can even track us!”
Qi Nanshan said, “So… this time we need to wander more through the secret realms, visiting several of them, so they can’t search effectively. Large detection sigil discs… only those who don’t know about them will suffer. Once they do, it’s no longer a problem.”
Guo Shier smiled and said, “Alright, then let’s keep moving through the secret realms, letting them follow us.”
The four of them kept moving back and forth, setting up confusing arrays. They would run far within one secret realm, then move to another, and back again. After running like this for over ten days, even they themselves became confused.
Guo Shier visited every secret realm near the Star Continent that was recorded in his sect’s records. Of course, he wouldn’t take these guys to realms closer to their hometown. Eventually, they returned to the secret realm leading to the Core Foundation Continent.
…
Ao Kuang was almost driven mad. Using the large detection sigil discs, he managed to track Guo Shier and the others, but he couldn’t understand why they kept moving back and forth between secret realms, making his pursuit extremely difficult. Their trail became harder and harder to follow, and he had to start over several times due to mistakes.
These past few days, Ao Kuang had acted like a madman, beating and scolding his subordinates. At the slightest setback, he would explode in anger, causing the Star Sect disciples to suffer greatly.
By the tenth day, he finally lost track of Guo Shier and the others, unable to find any clues anymore.
Ao Kuang stood there dumbfounded for half a day, his complexion changing from blue to yellow, then to red, and finally turning deathly pale. None of the Star Sect disciples dared speak; they were all frozen in shock. They all knew the Grand Elder was extremely angry.
Finally, Ao Kuang burst into laughter. “Great! Very good! Absolutely great! Damn good! Let’s go back!”
The Star Sect disciples showed embarrassed expressions, with some secretly sighing in relief—finally, they could go back. Continuing this pursuit brought no benefits and only exhaustion.
……
Guo Shier opened the interdimensional talisman and said with a smile, “If Ao Kuang can still track us down, I’ll just accept my fate. Hehe, I don’t believe he can still track us! Let’s head back to the Core Foundation Continent first.”
Qi Nanshan smiled and said, “Ao Kuang… It’s fortunate we didn’t run into him last time. Hehe, we’re lucky. That guy isn’t someone we can handle now—his strength is even greater than that of a high-level Great Sage Master.”
Guo Shier said, “Grandpa Nanshan, you’ll be able to catch up to him soon!”
Monier snorted, “Advancing levels is like cheating. Just kill more people, and you can advance… How twisted!”
Qi Nanshan looked up at the sky, speechless. Wasn’t it twisted indeed?
The four of them returned to the courtyard in Sea City.
Guo Shier asked, “Where is the master?”
The family disciple staying in the courtyard replied, “The senior has left Sea City. He left behind a message talisman.” He handed one to Guo Shier.
Monier complained, “Where has he gone again?”
Guo Shier carefully read the message and said with a smile, “Master’s wife, the master has gone out… He wants to find a suitable sect and also learn more about the Core Foundation Continent. After all, it’s different from our Chenxiao Sect. Not understanding the situation could be costly.”
Qi Nanshan sighed and said, “Sigh, I don’t know where the old man has gone… Well, we can’t return to the Star Continent unless I reach Ao Kuang’s level… I need to strengthen my power! Shier, rest here for a while. You don’t need to follow me. Find a way to obtain the heritage of the High-Level Continent to keep improving your strength. I’ll go look for the old man myself.”
Guo Shier knew Qi Nanshan wouldn’t give up until he found Luo Jie, and he didn’t want to stop him. He said, “Grandpa Nanshan, whenever you have free time or get tired, come back here to rest. We need to keep in touch and exchange information. I believe we’ll eventually find the master.”
Qi Nanshan nodded and said, “Twelve, advance to Grand Sage as soon as possible. Only then can you live freely on the Advanced Continent.” He turned to Eagle Demon and said, “Protect Twelve. With you around, I’ll feel much more at ease…” He glanced at Monier again but said nothing, only giving a slight nod before opening the talisman gate and stepping inside.
Monier said, “He’s really persistent!”
Guo Twelve let out a soft sigh. He didn’t want Qi Nanshan to leave, but he understood that as a follower, especially one from the Lower Continent, even after advancing to Grand Sage, he would retain his old habits and not abandon his master.
If it were Guo Twelve who went missing, Eagle Demon would also persevere in searching—this was part of their hometown’s customs and their profession. So he couldn’t stop him.
Watching Qi Nanshan disappear into the talisman gate, Guo Twelve shouted, “Come back quickly once you find the master!”
The talisman gate turned into light and shadow and gradually vanished. A sense of powerlessness surged in Guo Twelve’s heart, but he had great confidence in Qi Nanshan’s strength. With just one move—Soul Burning—he could instantly kill a Grand Sage. His strength was enough to ensure his safety; as long as no top-tier expert appeared, he wouldn’t be in danger.
The three went back to their rooms. Guo Twelve fell into a deep sleep, his nerves tense from the journey, only relaxing after returning to Sea City.
He slept until the third day. When Guo Twelve woke up, his stomach was growling. With a sigh, he got up, washed his face, and brushed his teeth, completing the routine he had developed in his past life before stepping out of the bedroom. He called over a family disciple and asked, “Is there anything to eat? I’m starving.”
The family disciple held back a laugh and said, “It’s already prepared. Both elders are in the living room.”
Guo Twelve nodded and went to the living room, where the table was filled with talisman food. Monier said with a smile, “Baby, come eat… You must be very hungry.”
Eagle Demon said, “We’ve already eaten. This table’s full of talisman food prepared by Elder Monier.”
Guo Twelve said, “I am indeed hungry…” He sat down at the table and began eating heartily. Monier said, “Take your time. No one’s competing with you.”
Guo Twelve devoured the food eagerly, savoring its delicious taste. Monier’s cooking style was unique, giving the talisman food an exotic flavor. In moments, the entire table was cleared. Satisfied, he washed his face and said, “Ah, that’s great! If only I could have it this easy every day.”
Monier said, “Baby, I need to return to the Chenxiao Sect.”
Guo Twelve was stunned and asked, “Master, is there something you need to do back there?”
Monier gave a bitter smile and said, “Your master has left, and you’ve left too. How can the family go on without anyone? Your family has only recently moved here, and without the support of elders, they’ll suffer.”
Guo Shier was stunned. He had never thought about these things. It seemed he had neglected family matters. With experts at the elder level around, the family’s development would be different. He said, “Alright, Masteress, go back first. I need to stay in Haicheng for a while. Maybe I’ll join a sect and talk about it after getting their teachings.”
Monier nodded and said, “You need to accompany me back. I don’t have a cross-dimensional talisman. It’s too troublesome for me to go back alone.”
Guo Shier said, “Uncle Eagle Demon, wait for me here. After seeing Masteress off… I’ll come back.”
Eagle Demon smiled and said, “Don’t worry. I’ll guard the family and wait for you to return. Hmm, I’ll also take the chance to gather some information and see how many sects there are on the Core Continent.”
Guo Shier was glad and said, “Great! Help me find out… If I join a sect, you have to join too.”
Eagle Demon said, “Of course. I’m your follower after all.”
Guo Shier activated the cross-dimensional talisman and took Monier inside, emerging directly from the courtyard where the Chenxiao Sect members lived. Monier couldn’t help but exclaim, “This thing is really useful. It’s a shame such cross-dimensional talismans are hard to come by.”
“Shier? Wow, Shier’s back!”
Guo Shier smiled and said, “Chen Bing, what are you doing here? Didn’t you go to train?”
A few people ran out of the house—Huo Bao, Hong Shi, and Chen Hong, all former companions of Guo Shier. Due to the huge difference in their professions, they could only stay in the family to continue training and couldn’t follow Guo Shier out into the world.
Luo Zhan, Aunt Lan, and Aunt Xin, who helped manage Guo Shier’s household, also ran out, looking at him happily.
Huo Bao said, “Shier, since you’re back this time… you’re not leaving, right?”
Guo Shier felt a bit guilty and shook his head. “I’ll be leaving soon. Let’s go inside and talk.”
Monier said, “Baby, I’m going back first. Send me a message talisman when you leave.”
Guo Shier nodded in agreement and said, “Masteress, I’ll pick you up once I’m settled over there.”
Monier wasn’t an ordinary woman. She was a professional expert. She swiftly took off into the air, her clear voice echoing, “Baby, stay at home for a few more days. Don’t rush to go back.” Her voice gradually faded, and her figure disappeared into the sky.
The crowd surrounded Guo Shier and led him into the house, with Aunt Lan and Aunt Xin following in as well. As the head of the family, Guo Shier was somewhat irresponsible, but here, everyone relied on him for survival—this was a responsibility he couldn’t escape.
A disciple of the family came in and reported, “Uncle Luo, someone from the North Talisman Sect has come to see you.”
Luo Zhan asked, “What’s the matter? Who has come?”
