Chapter 6: Slaughter (Part 1)
Guo Shier didn’t get angry. With his experience, he simply hadn’t expected the disciples of the Star Sect to turn on him so openly. This made him abandon the idea of using them to enter the Star Sect’s territory. He said, “Since you want my wealth and my life, then… you can just die!”
Qi Nanshan wasted no time. He had been hiding nearby and had heard their conversation. Filled with rage, he confronted the middle-aged Grand Sage right away.
The middle-aged Grand Sage showed a shocked expression, never expecting an ambush. He shouted, “How bold! Daring to attack a disciple of the Star Sect!”
Qi Nanshan grinned ferociously and cursed, “Bullshit! I’m targeting you shameless disciples of the Star Sect!” A long spear appeared in his hand, but instead of Soul Flame, he relied on his strength to fight.
Eagle Demon entangled another sage, swinging wildly with his sword and cursing, “Damn you… take this strike!” He was furious. If not for Qi Nanshan pulling him back while he was eavesdropping, he would have rushed in to fight immediately. He had seen shameless people before, but never ones as despicable as these.
Guo Shier chuckled and said, “My wife, hold them back to prevent them from sending messages or escaping. I’m about to start slaughtering them!” He had decided that not a single one of these Star Sect disciples could get away—letting one escape would cause big trouble.
The Dark-Winged Demon Scorpion was released first, followed by the Blade Shadow Mantis, and finally the Ancient Flame Sparrow. He protected himself with his Life Sword Talisman while activating the Blue Lotus Ancient Talisman for defense. He had three layers of protection: a Golden Armor Amulet, a Blue Lotus Talisman, and finally his Life Sword Talisman, which could be used for both offense and defense.
Fang Cheng trembled in fear, pointing at Guo Shier with his rotten hand, muttering incomprehensibly. He hadn’t expected the opponent to have two more tricks up their sleeve, one of them even a Grand Sage. He knew he was done for. Maybe his accomplices could escape, but with his legs disabled, where could he go?
The middle-aged Grand Sage’s first thought was to flee. As a Grand Sage specializing in talismans, how could he engage in close combat with a Grand Sage skilled in martial talismans? He needed to create distance. But Qi Nanshan was incredibly fast, his long spear already approaching. He activated his defenses repeatedly, trying to buy time and look for an opportunity to counterattack.
Qi Nanshan sneered. He had no intention of delaying—this Great Sage was extremely dangerous. When the spear touched the opponent’s defensive runes, he roared, “Die!” A black flame quickly spread along the spear shaft, and in an instant, a flame over a meter long erupted from the tip—soul rune fire.
The middle-aged Great Sage barely had time to react. His four layers of defense were shattered like dry grass. An indescribable sense of crisis made his soul tremble violently. He screamed, “Ah…” The soul rune fire had already engulfed him. At the same time, he activated his teleportation rune and reappeared thirty meters away.
Qi Nanshan snapped, “Burn!”
Although the middle-aged Great Sage had teleported away, the soul rune fire had already coated his body. When he reappeared, he was struck by Qi Nanshan’s single word, causing his soul to ignite instantly. He looked like a burning torch, though the flames were a strange black color.
Qi Nanshan rushed forward, thrusting the spear into the man’s chest, then grabbed his head tightly. Countless black virtual runes appeared, causing the man to tremble violently.
The Eagle Demon was fighting a Sage of the rune-wielding martial profession. Their skills were roughly equal, and they relied solely on their life rune blades to fight. Though the Eagle Demon had more experience and a more fierce aura, the disciple of the Star Sect was not far behind. The two clashed back and forth.
The Sage Guo Shier was in much greater trouble. He was also a rune-wielding martial professional, but Guo Shier never gave him a chance to get close. Dark-winged scorpions and blade-shadow mantises attacked from the ground, ancient flame birds swooped from the sky, and Monier watched covetously from the side. He tried several times to send a distress signal rune, but it was constantly interrupted by the dark-winged scorpions and blade-shadow mantises, forcing him to keep dodging.
Qi Nanshan quickly killed the middle-aged Great Sage. He used black rune patterns to extract memories from the opponent’s soul, obtaining a vast amount of information in just moments. By then, the Great Sage had turned to ashes, along with his life rune book. This showed the overwhelming power of soul rune fire.
Fang Cheng watched as the middle-aged Great Sage was reduced to ashes, filled with regret. If only he had lured these people to the Star Sect’s territory first before acting—now everything was lost. He tried to activate the signal runes on his companions’ waists, but his hands wouldn’t obey him. To activate the runes, a spell was required, one he couldn’t utter, leaving him sweating profusely in panic.
Qi Nanshan dealt with the Great Sage and turned to attack the Eagle Demon’s opponent, who fled in terror. Monier suddenly acted, firing a series of purple spirit symbols that instantly wrapped around him. With that brief delay, Qi Nanshan arrived, piercing him with a spear and turning him to ashes.
Immediately afterward, Qi Nanshan and the other two rushed at the last sage. Realizing he couldn’t escape, the sage screamed, letting Qi Nanshan pierce him with his spear, and summoned a blood-red spirit symbol with all his strength. Guo Shier swung his sword symbol to intercept it, but the spirit symbol was too fast to stop. The sage gritted his teeth and said, “You can’t get away… It will… it will…” Before he could finish, he was burned to ashes by the spirit symbol.
Qi Nanshan’s face turned pale as he said, “We can’t stay here long. Let’s leave quickly.”
Guo Shier nodded. “We’ve taken care of these two. Uncle Eagle Demon, your turn!”
The Eagle Demon sneered and said, “I’ll do it! I’ll do it!”
Monier said calmly, “This man is mine… I really want to see what’s in his heart!”
Fang Cheng screamed, “No… no, don’t come… Spare me… Please spare me…”
The Eagle Demon spat and cursed, “Weakling!” He stopped and said to Monier, “Alright, I leave it to you!” Not wanting to compete with her, he stepped behind Guo Shier.
Qi Nanshan burned Fang Cheng’s companion to ashes with a spear and grinned at Fang Cheng, saying, “Kid, enjoy it!”
Guo Shier said, “Masteress, hurry up. We don’t have time to linger.”
Monier stopped. Uninterested in getting revenge, she said to Qi Nanshan, “Burn him. At least it’ll strengthen your soul.”
Fang Cheng’s face turned deathly pale as Qi Nanshan killed him with a spear, turning his body to ashes and further strengthening Qi Nanshan’s soul. He never imagined that he could have survived, but due to his greed and arrogance, he died at the hands of others.
Qi Nanshan killed five people in quick succession, further strengthening his soul. Such tactics were truly terrifying.
Monier said, “Baby, let’s head to the Core Continent.”
Guo Shier shook his head. “We can’t go straight back. Let’s first go to a secret realm, make a few laps, and then return—it’ll be safer.”
Qi Nanshan closed his eyes and reviewed his memories. After a moment, he said, “Shier is right. Their Star Sect has large detection symbol disks. Good thing they almost tracked us down last time…”
Guo Shier was surprised. “What?”
Qi Nan Shan said, “Now is not the time for explanations. Let’s go quickly! The symbol that person released just now was a blood-colored message token—a top-tier, life-threatening token used only in extreme situations. Such a token is never released unless one is on the verge of death. People from the Star Sect will arrive soon. Let’s hurry!”
The four of them flew forward at high speed. After about five minutes, Qi Nan Shan shouted, “Enter this secret realm!”
As soon as they entered the secret realm, they saw a disciple from the Star Sect flying over. Qi Nan Shan stepped forward and called out, “Hey!” The man was startled. Before he could speak, Qi Nan Shan appeared less than ten meters in front of him, a life-token spear appearing in his hand, and he killed the Star Sect disciple with a single strike.
Qi Nan Shan ordered, “Twelve, quickly use the token gate to enter another secret realm!”
By continuously switching through the token gates, the four of them soon left the Star Continent.
…
A few saints from the Star Sect arrived at the scene of the incident, followed by two more grand saints. One of them noticed the ashes on the ground. He knelt down, dug around in the ashes, and his expression suddenly changed. He said, “Send a message token to inform the Grand Elder—traces of the Black Symbol people have been found again! Some disciples have been killed!”
One of the saints quickly sent a message token, and more disciples from the Star Sect arrived soon after. No wonder the disciples of the Star Sect were arrogant and domineering. On the Star Continent, as long as a message token was sent, groups of Star Sect disciples would arrive, and even the most skilled warriors would feel fear. Perhaps only someone as skilled as Li Ran would ignore the power of their sect.
A moment later, a rainbow streaked across the sky, and Ao Kuang descended. He asked, “Have the Black Symbol people appeared?”
The grand saint who found the ashes replied, “Yes. Look here!”
Ao Kuang knelt down and examined it carefully. He said, “Impressive! Initially, we thought there were two Black Symbol people, but we didn’t catch a single one. Hehe, I didn’t expect them to dare return… Have you brought the large detection token disk? Give it to me! I want to see where they’ve gone now!”
One of the grand saints handed over the large detection token disk. After searching for a while, Ao Kuang said, “There are at least six sets of footprints… Bring more people! Search thoroughly within a radius of 300 meters!”
Soon, all the traces were found. There were four places where the ashes of corpses remained. At one of those places, right where Ao Kuang stood, there were two piles of human-shaped ashes. Ao Kuang sneered and said, “Good. Five Star Sect disciples—what a satisfying kill…”
Ao Kuang used a large detection disc to continue searching for the whereabouts of Guo Shier and the others. After a while, he snapped in frustration, “Damn it… they’ve gone into that secret realm again! A bunch of cowardly scumbags! If you’ve got guts, then don’t run!”
The dozens of Star Sect disciples present remained silent, with some secretly cursing, “Only fools wouldn’t run. By the time you get here, everything will be ruined.”
After venting his anger for a while, Ao Kuang said, “Follow me! Damn it, if I can’t catch you this time, I’m nothing but dog shit!” He was nearly driven mad; he vowed not to rest until he caught those people.
