Volume 4: Hidden Struggles, Chapter 228: A Minor Conflict
“Alright, enough! Stop and get to the point—skip the trivial details!” Chu Tianyu interjected, trying to steer things back on track.
Tai Nianran smiled mockingly at Chu Tianyu. Feeling guilty, Chu Tianyu pretended not to notice and instead adopted a focused expression, ready to listen to what the Tiancai Dibao brothers had to say.
But the Tiancai Dibao brothers, in a rather rude manner, shook their heads at Chu Tianyu and said, “Uncle, we’ve already said everything that needed to be said. What more key points are there? What we just said was already very important!”
Chu Tianyu was utterly defeated by them. Still, he had already understood most of what they had told him. At that moment, he thought to himself that whenever he had time, he must take some money to offer as a gift to Shaolin Temple, as a token of gratitude and to atone for the misdeeds of the Tiancai Dibao brothers.
From what the brothers had described, Shaolin Temple must have suffered greatly at their hands—there was hardly any rice or noodles left after they devoured everything. Especially considering the chaos they caused, leaving without saying goodbye and possibly even fleeing out of fear of punishment, it was likely that Shaolin Temple was in complete disarray!
This also indirectly explained why no news had come from Shaolin after the Tiancai Dibao brothers left. Given the severity of their actions, it was uncertain whether Shaolin would pursue them, but given their connection to Chu Tianyu and the elite disciples who trained there, Shaolin likely hesitated to take action. Moreover, if they did investigate, they would need to explain the brothers’ disappearance to Chu Tianyu. Thus, Shaolin found itself in an awkward position, forced to send disciples to investigate while keeping the matter under wraps and not notifying Chu Tianyu right away.
After thinking this through, Chu Tianyu sighed inwardly. “Sigh… Shaolin really has it tough! Once I get back, I should reach out to them myself, apologize on behalf of the Tiancai Dibao brothers, and recall the people sent to pick them up.”
As he was thinking this, his phone rang. It was Ouyang Ziyi’s number—likely meaning things on their end had been resolved.
“Tianyu, where are you? Is Nianran with you? Hehe… Did you succeed right away?” Ouyang Ziyi’s voice came through.
“We’re at the restaurant. Hehe, how did you know Nianran is here?” Chu Tianyu replied with a smile.
“Intuition… a woman’s intuition!”
“Sigh, you women! Whenever you encounter a question you don’t want to answer or can’t answer, you resort to so-called ‘female intuition.’ Fake, completely fake!” Chu Tianyu sneered.
“Hmph, whether it’s fake or not, just tell me if what I said is right!” Ouyang Ziyi said in asweet voice.
“Right, right. How could what Attorney Ouyang says be wrong? Stop talking about me. Have you guys sorted things out?” Chu Tianyu changed the subject.
“Basically, we can all withdraw and replace ourselves, but Feifei can’t avoid being the brand ambassador. Fortunately, the school agreed that she only needs to participate in a few major events or make an appearance, which is a compromise. She’ll perform once more at the final closing ceremony.”
Ouyang Ziyi said this, and Chu Tianyu realized there were no major issues, so he said, “That’s already great. Let’s meet at the school gate and head back together!”
“Okay…”
…
When Chu Tianyu and his group arrived at the school gate, ready to meet up with Ouyang Ziyi and the others, they heard noise, fighting sounds, and shouting. There was also a scene similar to that of the Tiancai Dibao brothers performing, attracting many onlookers.
Chu Tiancheng’s expression immediately changed because he recognized Bai Lei, Da Ge, and Lan Yue’s voices. He quickly said to Qin Nianran, “Nianran, it’s Bai Lei and the others ahead. It seems there’s a dispute. I’ll go check first. Watch over Tiancai Dibao for me—don’t let those two get involved. With their skills, if they act recklessly, it could cause trouble!”
“Mm, okay…”
After getting Qin Nianran’s reply, Chu Tianyu instantly dashed over. To outsiders, it seemed like he just blinked, and he was already there. His speed wasn’t particularly astonishing, but by then, he was already standing among the crowd, over ten meters away! Qin Nianran realized that the terrifying aspect of Chu Tianyu’s skills lay precisely in this.
As Chu Tianyu rushed into the crowd, the situation changed in an instant. With a “bang,” Bai Lei’s screams could be heard immediately, followed by Da Ge’s cry, “Bai Lei!” He rushed over, wrapped his arms around Bai Lei, and caught him just in time. Even so, the strong force pushed them both back several steps before they could stabilize themselves.
Da Ge ignored the pain in his chest and quickly looked down at Bai Lei. Bai Lei was pale, with blood dripping from the corners of his mouth, clearly on the verge of death.
As unexpected events unfolded, Lan Yue and Chu Yunjiao, who were fighting with several bodyguards, also gave up on their opponents and rushed back in front of Da Ge. They glanced at Bai Lei with concern while remaining cautiously vigilant.
Fortunately, the other side did not continue attacking but stopped and stood beside one of their men. By “fortunate,” it wasn’t referring to Bai Lei or Da Ge, but rather those bodyguards. If they had made even the slightest extra move, several more of them might have ended up lying on the ground vomiting blood alongside Bai Lei.
Chu Tianyu hadn’t taken action yet because he could tell that although Bai Lei looked in a terrible state, his injuries weren’t serious. Clearly, the opponent had held back, giving him only a warning.
Chu Tianyu took a quick look at those bodyguards—most of them were ordinary people. Only the one who had injured Bai Lei had a fierce appearance. Though he wasn’t a true cultivator, Chu Tianyu could sense a fierce aura from him. Among ordinary people, he must be considered an expert.
“Da, Da Ge, I… I can’t hold on anymore. Please, give 30 million to Lan Yue and the others for me, okay?” Bai Lei said weakly.
“30 million? Bai Lei, you wretch, you…” Da Ge was clearly at a loss and trembled, not knowing what to say.
“Make sure Lan Yue and Chu Yunjiao always remember me. And ‘for heaven’s sake,’ don’t let them find any boyfriends. Even if they really can’t help it, ‘for heaven’s sake,’ don’t choose too good-looking ones. Even pretty guys aren’t reliable!” Bai Lei pleaded desperately.
Da Ge was stunned and said, “They’re right here. You should just tell them yourself!” Then he tried to help Bai Lei up.
Bai Lei took a deep breath and immediately grabbed Da Ge’s hand, stopping him. “Wait first. I still have 10 million to give you…”
“Can I really not take it?” Da Ge asked, sweating.
“No. You must tell Chu Tianyu to avenge me!” Bai Lei said with a final surge of strength.
