Volume 1: The True Purple Dragon – Chapter 4: The True Purple Dragon
The three people engaged in a clash of martial energy never expected someone to suddenly burst out through the door. Seeing the nurse get flung aside, they realized she was in grave danger. Xianyun, who was closest to the door, quickly took advantage of the combined force of the three to dash forward. With his arms formed in a Tai Chi stance, he spun and firmly caught her mid-air. The nurse only spun a few times; aside from feeling a bit dizzy, she was unharmed.
Yet Xianyun also suffered from the surge of energy from the two others, feeling nauseous. Fortunately, his Taoist techniques emphasized gentleness, allowing him to barely save the nurse’s life.
The nurse, still shaken, was confused by what had happened. Not only did she not understand how she had been flung back, but the presence of monks and Taoists left her at a loss.
After this incident, the three parties involved released their martial energy, temporarily easing the tension. Seeing this, Chu Fangshan knew it was his turn to act. He stepped forward, ignoring the three people before him, and calmly asked the nurse, “What exactly happened? Take your time and explain.”
The nurse finally recognized the person asking her questions and hurriedly said, “Ah, Chairman! It’s the baby—his whole body turned purple suddenly, and his breathing became rapid, as if he was lacking oxygen. With the backup power also gone, no other rescue measures could be taken…”
“What!?” Chu Fangshan exclaimed in shock, joined by Xianyun and the other two.
Xianyun quickly glanced at Bu Chan and Kuang Ru and said anxiously, “How could this happen? In the Dragon Realm, the chosen one must possess great fortune and merit—how could it backfire on them?”
Bu Chan replied, “Stop talking for now. Let’s go in and take a look before deciding…”
Before he could finish, the three figures vanished in a flash. The Chu family also realized something was wrong with the baby. Chu Minglei was ready to rush in urgently, but his movement was blocked by an invisible force.
Before anyone could move, Xianyun and the others reappeared, this time with a baby enveloped in purple energy in Xianyun’s arms…
Chu Minglei roared, “What are you doing? Put my son down, or else…”
Xianyun didn’t answer. He quickly scanned the crowd and said, “Who here has the authority?”
Under everyone’s gaze, Chu Fangshan stepped forward and said, “It’s me! I don’t understand why such respected elders would trouble a newborn infant. Can’t we wait until the child is cured before discussing anything?”
Before Yan Yun could reply, theMad scholar’s icy voice rang out, “If you want to save the child, modern medicine won’t help. Your first task now is to find us a room, and second, ensure no one disturbs us—otherwise, you’ll bear the consequences!”
Bu Chan also spoke up, “Amitabha. Please make your decision quickly, the rest can be explained later. Time is running out…”
Hearing their words, Chu Fangshan’s gaze shifted to his newly born grandson. The purple aura around him grew denser and gradually began to burn…
It seemed their words were true. Without further hesitation, Chu Fangshan promptly ordered the returning dean, “Dean Li, find an available room for these masters right away.”
“Ming Lei, go in and check on Yi Xue right away. Don’t say much for now—just comfort her.”
Upon hearing this, Chu Minglei exclaimed anxiously, “Dad!?”
Before he could finish, Chu Fangshan cut him off, “Go!”
After giving those instructions, Chu Fangshan turned again and said, “Please follow Dean Li. If there’s anything else you need to prepare, just give the orders.”
TheMad scholar replied as they walked, “Nothing else is needed. Without our permission, don’t disturb us. As for how to keep today’s incident secret and contain the news, since you seem to be from an important family, I won’t say more…”
Watching the three leave, Chu Fangshan felt uneasy. He had done this based solely on an intuition developed over years—a gamble!
“Dad, how can you just trust them? We don’t even know who they really are. Their behavior is strange, their words are absurd, and they broke in without permission…”
Seeing his son Chu Minglei return, instead of answering, he asked, “Why did you come back? How is Yi Xue?”
Chu Minglei replied, “The doctor gave her an injection to calm her down. She’s asleep now and won’t wake up for a while, Dad…”
Chu Fangshan waved his hand to interrupt his son’s words and said, “No need to say more. I understand what you mean. I’ll wait here. Use this time to arrange a few things. First, send some people from our security company to guard the garden—don’t let them enter yet. Second, call Mayor Zhang and Director Hu from the public security bureau and tell them I’ve invited them for tea; arrange for them to go to the Chu Yuan Hotel not far from here. Third, call all my secretaries over; I have tasks to assign them.”
Hearing these arrangements, Chu Minglei knew his father already had a plan, so he didn’t say much. Before leaving, he reminded his father, “Dad, it’s already late at night. It might be difficult to invite Mayor Zhang and Director Hu now…”
“Do as I say! Also, ask your third uncle to come and keep them company. Just have tea and chat—don’t ask why!” Chu Fangshan said firmly.
“Okay!”
After arranging everything, seeing Dean Li return, he asked, “Is it all taken care of? Where is it? Take me to see.”
Dean Li replied quickly, “Yes, it’s at the end of this floor, the former separate VIP ward suite. Chairman, please follow me.”
On the way there, Chu Fangshan frowned, constantly thinking about everything that had just happened. Given his arrangements and the astonishing skills of those people, it was merely a bare minimum preparation.
When they arrived, the door was locked, with a faint aura of energy emanating from it. The stronger he tried, the more resistance there was. Chu Fangshan tried his best but couldn’t even touch the door…
He sighed inwardly, “Enough. At this point, I’ll just leave it to fate!” Then he found a seat in the corridor, closed his eyes, and fell into deep thought.
Before long, Chu Minglei arrived quickly with a group of people. The sound of their footsteps woke Chu Fangshan from his thoughts. Seeing his son come, he knew his tasks had been completed. He organized his thoughts and shared his plans: “Minglei, go keep Yi Xue company first. When she wakes up, talk to her properly—don’t hide anything anymore. My daughter-in-law is much more sensible and intelligent than you. Just make sure she rests well. Oh, and tell her that I’m in charge here…”
“Okay, Dad!” Chu Minglei didn’t say more and turned to carry out his father’s instructions. He thought that if not for these matters and his concern for his child’s uncertain fate, he would have rushed to Yi Xue’s side already…
Chu Fangshan turned to the group that had followed him and continued, “Secretary Han, cancel all my arrangements for these days immediately. I want you to stay at the company 24/7, report to me promptly about any developments, maintain satellite communication, and wait for my instructions at all times.”
“Secretary Chen, arrange for a few people to check the surroundings for any abnormalities, whether people or objects, and report to me right away.”
“Secretary Li, contact our telecommunications subsidiary quickly. I want all wired and wireless communications here blocked within five minutes; we must switch entirely to satellite communication.”
“Secretaries Huang, Sun, and Wang, you stay behind…”
“Oh, right, Dean Li, give me the list of all personnel on duty today immediately. Nothing about tonight’s events may be disclosed without my permission, and no one on duty is allowed to leave.”
…
In the room, Xianyun, Buzhan, and Kuangru sat in a triangle, with the infant of the Chu family lying in the middle.
The purple aura around the infant had grown stronger, appearing as a blazing flame. The infant’s eyes were closed, his complexion purplish-blue, and his little hands were clenched tightly—indicating he was breathing in less air than he was exhaling.
Xianyun kept frowning and muttering to himself, “How could this happen? Normally, the Dragon Domain should be filled with auspicious and prosperous dragon energy. How could there be such a backlash? Moreover, my internal energy simply can’t penetrate it…”
Kuangru suddenly interjected, “There’s only one possibility for this…”
Xianyun and Buzhan’s expressions shifted, and they asked together, “What possibility?”
Kuangru didn’t keep them in suspense and spoke in his usual calm tone, “According to the records of our Xuanji Sect, there’s only one reason why the Dragon Domain might backlash against its master—that is, we might have encountered the Purple Void True Dragon energy that has accumulated over ten thousand years. Its immense power is such that, fortunately, the one chosen as its master is an infant with a pure, untainted innate constitution, allowing him to endure it temporarily. But an infant’s body, with undeveloped meridians and tendons, cannot absorb the dragon energy to strengthen his physique. The outcome will inevitably be broken bones, shattered meridians, and death from suffocation. If it were an adult, even someone like us who practice cultivation, we wouldn’t be able to resist such ten-thousand-year-old dragon energy. Death would occur the moment the master is chosen. And looking at the burning purple flames around this infant, they match the descriptions in the scriptures of the purple aura dissipating and turning into flames—there’s no doubt about it!”
After hearing this, Xianyun quickly asked, “Are there any methods recorded in the scriptures to resolve or absorb this?”
The Mad Scholar shook his head gently and said helplessly, “If there were a way, I wouldn’t be sitting here explaining to you. I would have already taken action!”
Since no solution was reached, the three of them fell into deep thought again, and the room fell silent.
Suddenly, the baby in the middle began to convulse, its little face turning blue and purple. The three were shocked, and Xianyun hurriedly said, “Forget about the heir of the Dragon Realm for now. The top priority is to see if we can neutralize the power of the dragon energy and save the baby’s life.”
Buchan asked as if he had an epiphany, “Mad Scholar, you just said that the baby can’t withstand the dragon energy because its meridians and bones aren’t fully developed. What if I use my Qijin Jing to strengthen its muscles and purify its essence? Could that work?”
The Mad Scholar thought for a moment before answering, “Theoretically, it’s possible. But I tried it just now. With our current strength, we can’t even penetrate the dragon energy surrounding it. Even if Master’s Qijin Jing is an extraordinary technique, it’s useless here! Moreover, even if we manage to inject energy in, it’s still uncertain whether the baby’s meridians can withstand it.”
Before the Mad Scholar could finish speaking, Buchan interjected, “If it works, it works. I’ve also tried it. The dragon energy surrounding it is extremely powerful, but the top of the baby’s head is its weak point. By using our Shaolin secret technique, the Vajra Crowning Method, we can infuse internal energy into it. But even with my own strength, I can’t do it alone. We need the help of the other two!”
Xianyun asked doubtfully, “Using the baby’s head as an entry point to counteract the dragon energy is extremely dangerous. With the baby’s fragile condition, even if we manage to save it, it’s likely to end up as a disabled idiot…”
Suddenly, the Mad Scholar said urgently, “There’s no time to discuss this. Look, the baby can hardly hold on anymore. Let’s follow Master’s method. We have to take a chance. We might as well treat a living horse as a dead one—there’s no time to worry about the consequences. Everything depends on the child’s fate…”
“Then fine, let’s go all in. With the combined strength of the three of us, we’ll fight against this ten-thousand-year dragon energy!” Xianyun also made a decisive decision after hearing this.
After discussing it, Xianyun and the Mad Scholar first used their energy to lift the baby, positioning its head toward Buchan. Buchan took this opportunity to finish concentrating his energy. His Buddha light shone brightly, his two hanging white eyebrows stood upright, and golden light emanated from his hands as they gradually approached the baby’s head…
As Bu Zhan’s golden light touched it, it immediately encountered resistance from the dragon energy surrounding its head. Yet, as he said, this was indeed its weakest point. Despite the resistance slowing him down, he could still push forward. Just as Bu Zhan’s golden light was about to penetrate the last layer, purple energy began to gather rapidly, soon facing a counterattack from the true dragon energy. Forced to retreat instead of advance, Bu Zhan’s entire body trembled, as if he had exhausted all his strength to resist, yet his hands continued to be pushed back step by step.
Xian Yun and Kuang Ru, noticing the sudden change, quickly used one hand to hold the infant while the other reached out to Bu Zhan, pressing it against him to transmit their energy…
Only with the combined efforts of the three could they barely withstand the dragon energy’s counterattack and gradually push forward slowly. As they pressed on, with that tiny distance left, white energy gathered above their heads, and their bodies trembled. It was clear that they had all used their full strength. At this point, the three were in a difficult situation—unable to retreat. They hadn’t expected the purple dragon energy to be so powerful. If they withdrew now, they would surely be struck back by it. With such strength, no matter how high their skills, they would end up with severed tendons.
The room was filled with white energy, and the three of Bu Zhan were in critical condition. Sweat droplets the size of beans kept emerging from their bodies, their veins standing out. Bu Zhan’s hands had turned red, Xian Yun’s entire body glowed with blue light, and Kuang Ru’s already pale and translucent skin became even more transparent, allowing every vein and tendon to be seen clearly…
With a “pfft,” a sound came—though not loud, it was like good news to the three of them. Bu Zhan’s hands finally pressed against the infant’s head. Without the obstruction of the dragon energy, his energy surged in like a released flood, quickly entering the infant’s body. Startled, Bu Zhan quickly reined in his energy. Even so, he spat out fresh blood. Fortunately, his years of practice in authentic Shaolin techniques allowed him to control his energy and slowly spread it throughout the infant’s body at his own pace.
“Xian Yun, Kuang Ru, you two focus on gently pushing back the dragon energy outside with your energy. As for me, I’m about to begin pouring energy into the infant’s body to help it absorb it…” Bu Zhan said with difficulty as he continued to channel his energy.
Given their status as master practitioners, Xian Yun and Kuang Ru naturally understood. Without saying a word, they adjusted their breathing and slowly sent their true energy in, surrounding the scattered dragon energy and pressing it inward toward the infant’s body…
