Chapter 106: Divine Level!
Indeed, what Rod saw inside his own body at this moment was none other than the Core of Combat Qi—the hallmark of those at the divine level!
“No! How is this possible…?” Only after calming down a bit did Rod realize something was wrong. He then noticed that he could see everything inside his body clearly, as if he were an outsider observing another entity.
“Internal vision!” Delighted, Rod was even more astonished. That’s right—internal vision! It was also one of the most important signs of a divine-level warrior, allowing them to sink their mental energy into their own body and see everything clearly, even the shape and structure of each cell.
Warriors below the divine level could control everything within their bodies, but they relied on their mental energy and consciousness to sense it, lacking absolute precision. But now it was different—the inside of his body appeared before him like a visual scene.
He could see every meridian clearly, as well as every cell. When he sent his mental energy back to his dantian, everything inside it appeared before his eyes.
The dantian resembled a huge room, with a black-red solid floating at its center, shaped like a diamond. Surrounding it was a layer of mist-like gas, looking incredibly beautiful. Inside the Core of Combat Qi, Rod saw three images: the first was a miniature version of Furnishing Heaven, embedded there like a tiny insect, glowing with a fiery red color. There was also a pitch-black shadow, identical to that of the Dark Dragon, without the slightest difference. The third was an ancient long sword, simple and unadorned, yet exuding a sense of solemnity and dignity. Xuanyuan! Rod immediately recognized its origin—it was undoubtedly Xuanyuan.
The three shadows were arranged in a triangular pattern within the Core of Combat Qi, in perfect symmetry.
Looking at this tiny core no larger than a thumb, Rod secretly smiled wryly, marveling at the wonders of the world—such a small thing yet containing terrifying power! It could turn the world upside down with a mere gesture. At a divine level, a single strike from such a being could flatten a hill, showing just how formidable its power was. Yet, this power relied entirely on this little thing to supply energy! It was truly astonishing.
“Kid… wake up when you’re fine, so others won’t worry!” Before Rod could finish observing, he heard a call from outside—the old man’s voice.
Only then did he realize his current situation and recall what had happened earlier. Those guys must have been terrified by what just took place.
Just as he tried to withdraw his mental energy, another voice came through: “Kid, don’t forget our agreement. We’re still 100 short of 3,000 blood essences. You need to hurry!”
Hearing this, Rod’s expression changed drastically. That familiar voice—it had to be Dark Dragon. How did it get out? Had the seal begun to weaken and he could no longer control it? Although he had agreed to this, what Lilith and Sognar had said earlier made him cautious. If anything really went wrong, the trouble would be huge. At the very least, Rod didn’t want to become a puppet of a weapon, a murderous demon king.
With a sigh, unable to sense Dark Dragon’s presence anymore, Rod had no choice but to temporarily withdraw his mental energy. As for the rest, he would plan once everything stabilized.
Slowly withdrawing his mental energy from his own space, he exhaled deeply and slowly opened his eyes. What he saw left him speechless.
The surroundings were in chaos, as if struck by some massive force. Many trees lay broken, and flowers and plants were scattered everywhere. Lilith and the old man stood in front of him, their expressions complex as they stared at him. Those gazes gave him a chilling feeling—very uncomfortable!
“Damn it, what happened? Why… why are you looking at me like that?” Feeling uneasy under their gazes, Rod forced a smile and asked nervously.
“How dare you ask us what we did while you never thought about what you did yourself, damn you!” Sognar glared fiercely at Rod, complaining in dissatisfaction. He had never cared about anyone before; this was the first time he was worried about someone else—someone he had always looked down on as a lowly human. Even if it was a demon, a troll, so what? Besides, he was also his enemy.
“Are you okay?” Lilith, on the other hand, was more practical. She looked deeply at Rod with a hint of concern in her eyes and asked. It was impossible to imagine how the elements of dark energy and fire-based combat energy could coexist peacefully; there seemed no reason for them to live together harmoniously.
“Reached the divine level?” Xuanfeng watched Rod nervously, asking with a hint of expectation. The last person left was Gary, who remained quite quiet, standing aside without saying a word, with a faint smile on his lips as if he could see right through Rod’s heart.
“No… I’m fine. What could possibly happen? I encountered some trouble just now, but it’s resolved. I’ve reached the divine level. Heh… I made everyone worry! I’m sorry!” Taking a deep breath to calm himself down, Rod forced a wry smile as he looked at the others. It felt as though he were being interrogated, like a criminal.
“It’s good that you’re fine, heh. Good that you’re fine!” Before the others could speak, the old man stepped forward first, approaching Rod with a smile. His tone was calm, but his eyes couldn’t hide a flash of shock and relief. Others might not understand, but he knew very well just how difficult it was to fully merge these two incompatible elements. He understood even better the immense pain and danger required to achieve such a level!
Although Rod spoke casually, everyone had witnessed the urgent situation just now. Yet he could say it so nonchalantly. In his heart, he concluded—this boy is no ordinary person!
“Lucky bastard! He can even pull that off!” Sognar muttered discontentedly, rolling his eyes. Having both elements and reaching the divine level—this was the first time he had heard of such a thing. More importantly, he understood better than anyone the meaning of what Gary had said earlier: “At the divine level, there’s no one who can defeat you!”
“Alright, let’s go down and rest. You seem extremely tired. Take a break; we can discuss the rest tomorrow. Whatever your intentions may be, I don’t want to hear about them today!” With a sigh, Gary glanced at the others and then at Rod’s disheveled appearance, offering a gentle smile before turning to walk back into the cave first.
“What’s going on inside your body now?” Lilith couldn’t wait to rush to Rod’s side and ask seriously after the old man left. In her view, the coexistence of the two elements was always a huge time bomb, and without resolving it, she couldn’t feel at ease.
“Nothing’s wrong. I don’t know what’s going on either. The two energies have merged together. Now the core of my combat energy is black-red!” At the mention of this, Rod immediately looked troubled.
“Black-red? Could it be that the two types of combat energy have completely merged?” Xuanfeng’s expression changed drastically as he stared at Rod in shock.
“It seems that way. I really don’t know what’s happening!” Rod said, smiling bitterly as he looked at Xuanfeng.
“Cough, cough… You… Hey, I really don’t know what to say. Maybe we’ve really gotten old. You’ve just had terrible luck!” Xuanfeng’s mouth twitched strangely as he stared intently at Rod for a long time before speaking weakly. When had he ever been so shocked? There were too many surprises today—so many that he could hardly bear them! Combat energies merged? They understood this concept all too well. It meant the two types of combat energy had fully combined, merging their strengths to create a new kind of combat energy. Its power need hardly be mentioned. No wonder Lord Gary had said what he said earlier. Now he truly understood.
“Cough, cough… We… we won’t say anything more. Focus on your cultivation! I’m leaving first!” Lilith and Sognar also had strange expressions, looking at Rod as if he were a monster. After taking a few deep breaths, they said with bitter smiles.
“Hehe, kid, not bad. I’ll take you for a stroll around the Source of Darkness someday. You’ll meet a few guys! There’s a monster you’ll definitely find interesting. Haha… I wonder what expression he’ll have when he sees you?” Sognar, who remained behind, suddenly forgot his hatred toward Rod and greeted him with a smile, clearly excited, as if looking forward to something. Everyone’s expression left Rod confused, unsure of what was going on.
Who was this monster Sognar was talking about? It wasn’t the first time he’d heard this name. Was he interested in him? Unlikely. Unable to figure it out, Rod gave up on his thoughts and followed in the direction the others had gone. Strangely enough, after reaching the quasi-divine level, the gravity here seemed to have little effect on him. Twenty thousand times gravity was somewhat strenuous, but it was still easier than when he was at the late stage of the divine level, where he had to withstand fifteen thousand times gravity. Perhaps this was the effect of improved strength. Although he had only reached the quasi-divine level, still a small step short of the divine level, it was enough. Advancing one level brought about tremendous changes and improvements in strength!
