Chapter 100: Rod’s Counterattack

Using the dense jungle as cover, Rod darted into the pile of dead leaves within it. Indeed, the leaves here were quite thick, suggesting that few people had ventured this far. As a result, layers of dead leaves had accumulated, reaching up to the calves when stepped on. Lying on the ground, he held his breath, covered himself with leaves to disguise himself, and remained motionless, pricking up his ears to listen carefully for any sounds outside.

“Where is he? How did he disappear without a trace?” Sure enough, in less than a moment, the sound of three sets of footsteps could be heard—the rustling of feet on the leaves was easy to distinguish. One of them spoke in confusion.
“That damned bastard dared attack me! Hmph, if I catch him, I’ll—”
“Enough, Zoe. Stop talking and start looking for him!” Hearing Zoe’s voice beside him,Hill frowned and spoke sternly.

In such a forest, with trees providing cover everywhere, the situation was extremely unfavorable for them. The enemy could be hiding nearby, ready to strike at any moment. More importantly, it was possible they had already fled, rendering their efforts in vain. He certainly didn’t want to see that happen.
“Boss… this area… the terrain is terrible. I think that kid has escaped. Should we… just give up? There are other targets anyway. No need to take such risks for this kid! Let’s switch targets!”

A moment later, another voice came in—the third person finally spoke, hesitantly.
“Phil, what’s wrong? Are you scared or… Hmph, don’t forget—it was you who set your sights on this target and brought us here. Now you want to give up?” Zoe sneered disdainfully. It wasn’t easy for him to give up now. After suffering losses himself, how could he just let it go? He used to make others suffer; now that he’d suffered himself, he wasn’t willing to give up so easily.

Phil frowned, his face turning red, but he couldn’t say a word. He hadn’t expected that kid to be so clever, managing to escape their pursuit. Somehow, ever since entering this forest, he had felt a strong sense of unease—yes, he could smell danger.

“Gather together and investigate. Check the surroundings—this kid can’t just have disappeared like that. The footprints end here; he must be somewhere nearby. I don’t believe he can even fly!” Hilt said coldly, gripping his weapon. He wasn’t willing to give up such an easy target. Besides that, he had his own plans—quite selfish, actually. He was eyeing the kid’s weapon. Yes, that black sword. Though it seemed ordinary, even ugly, his years of experience and what the kid had done with it showed it was a fine weapon—sharp and sturdy, better than his own sword.

Peering through a crack at the outside, Rod held his breath, extremely cautious, not daring to move at all for fear of revealing his identity. He was at a disadvantage against three people, but if he could ambush just one, he was over 90% confident he could succeed—even against that silver warrior, his chances were over 70%. He was absolutely certain of this.

“Hmph! Let you guys try to ambush me. Watch how I deal with you bastards!” Anger fueled Rod’s determination to retaliate against them.

The three outside formed a triangular formation and began searching the area, narrowing their search to this vicinity. Seeing that they had no intention of splitting up, Rod inwardly groaned. Was his plan about to fail? If this continued, their thorough search would surely expose him.

Anxious but helpless, he could only struggle inwardly. A set of footsteps was slowly approaching him, one step at a time. Every rustle of the leaves made Rod’s heart race faster. Through the crack, he saw the guy named Phil coming toward him, holding a large sword and advancing steadily. Soon, he was less than three meters away. He kept moving forward, cold sweat breaking out on his forehead. Two meters, one meter—just one more step and he’d be exposed.

His heart pounded violently, and his breathing grew heavier without him realizing it. He quickly held his breath, staring wide-eyed at the opponent’s raised foot, gripping the Black Dragon in his hand. At this critical moment, there was no time to think—he could only take action first. No matter the outcome, he would keep fleeing after the attack; it was the only option.

A cold glint flashed in his eyes as his muscles tensed, his body shifting slightly in preparation for a swift strike.

“Cough, cough, cough, Captain, I need to relieve myself!” Just as Rod was about to act, a voice from above made him halt immediately.

After saying that, Phil stepped back and stayed in place, turning toHill, who was about ten meters behind him, and said, “Idiot, deal with it here. Don’t separate, or that brat might take advantage of it!”

Hill glared back at Phil in annoyance.

Hearing those words, Rod let out a deep sigh of relief. Unnoticed, his back was already drenched in cold sweat. He gasped for breath, continuing to watch the situation above nervously.

Phil put down his weapon, unzipped his pants, and aimed ahead. It seemed he was about to urinate right above Rod’s head. Rod narrowed his eyes, thinking, “Heaven helps me.”

This was his chance—definitely the best chance. If he missed it, he might never get another one.

His tense muscles suddenly erupted in strength as he leaped up. The Dark Dragon emitted a humming sound as it shot upward toward Phil. With a howling wind and faint dark light, it moved at incredible speed.

Phil was stunned, his hand still on his pants. His mind went blank for a moment; he didn’t know what to do. Suddenly, a person appeared from the ground in front of him—the very target they had been tracking. A whirling sword came toward his groin, forcing him to dodge instinctively.

“Dodge!” The shout from over there also caught Hill’s attention. He turned around, eyes wide, and shouted loudly, rushing over quickly.

“Die!” With a roar, the attack accelerated. There was a muffled sound, followed by a deafening scream.

With a trace of blood, the Dark Dragon emerged from behind Phil’s back. Phil’s eyes widened as he could clearly see his distorted face and bloodshot eyes.

He quickly drew out Dark Dragon, and the Shadowless Sword appeared at once, targeting Zoe. BeforeHill could arrive, he launched an attack. Ding ding ding… After three sharp sounds, a muffled groan came. Eight figures attacked simultaneously, catching Zoe off guard. A scream echoed as the sword pierced his carotid artery; he quickly pulled it out, spilling bright blood, before darting aside to avoid a sword swing from behind. “Damn you!” Seeing how this guy had eliminated two of his companions in such a short time, and knowing both were fatally injured and unable to move,Hill was filled with rage. The opponent’s strength and skill far exceeded his expectations—eliminating two people in just an instant. A dull pain spread across his back; Rod inwardly groaned—he was injured. Yes, he could feel his blood flowing, warm to the touch. To kill the unprepared Zoe, he had paid the price of injury. “Hmph, die!” Ignoring the pain, he flipped backward and leaped up, swinging Dark Dragon to block another attack. Feeling numbness in his hand, he darted behind the opponent and launched a fierce attack. After the brief assault came a prolonged face-off, with the sharp sounds of weapons clashing incessantly and sporadic sparks flying. The two figures moved swiftly beneath the night sky, accompanied by the whooshing sound of wind, their silhouettes barely visible. The intense battles were evenly matched; after eleven exchanges in a short time, neither side gained any real advantage. Of course, though he was at the peak of a Bronze Warrior, he still hadn’t reached the level of a Silver Warrior, so Rod, lacking in strength and experience, suffered some disadvantages. Realizing that continuing this head-on fight would do him no good, he darted away into the distance. “Don’t think you can escape!” Seeing Rod flee,Hill rushed after him. With the advantage on his side, he couldn’t let the bastard get away under any circumstances—he had to kill him. “Coming? Hmph, I’ll send you to hell today!” Feeling the pursuit behind him, he smirked and muttered to himself. Gripping Dark Dragon tightly, he accelerated and disappeared into the trees ahead, using his agility to gain distance. Taking cover behind a large tree, he climbed up and crouched there, waiting forHill to arrive.

Hoooh… A deep roar came through, carrying a hint of anger, which caused Rod’s expression to change slightly. Meanwhile,Hill, who was under the big tree, also suddenly changed color.
