Chapter 27: The First Confrontation with the Mage

The female mage still wore her pristine mage robe, with that opaque veil covering her face, hiding her features.
Seeing the female mage reappear, Rod frowned deeply. Another opponent.
“Cousin, hurry! Kill them all! Damn it! He’s dared to insult the honor of our nobility and trample on the dignity of our Potter family! We can’t let him live!” At the sight of the female mage, Roger’s eyes lit up as if he’d found a lifeline, and he shouted loudly.
“You don’t need to tell me what to do!” The female mage glared at Roger harshly, her voice laced with disgust. Her eyes were filled with disdain at Roger’s pitiful appearance.
“Are you Knight Rod?” She then turned to Rod and asked coldly.
“Hmph, spout it if you’ve got something to say!” With a cold snort, Rod knew their relationship and saw no need to talk further. He already had no good feelings toward mages, let alone this woman who was Roger’s cousin and part of the Potter family. He certainly wouldn’t trust her to have any good intentions.
“You… you scoundrel! You have no manners at all!” The female mage’s face turned red as she shouted in shame.
“I’m just a little scoundrel. Hmph, do you think you’re noble? You’re just a little bitch. Wait until you’re groaning under me—then we’ll see how arrogant you are!” Rod muttered with a sinister smile.
Though his voice was soft, everyone heard it.
She shuddered, froze for a moment, her face turning red as she gasped for breath. She clenched her fists and glared at Rod, her eyes seemingly burning with fury.
Hearing this, Jerome and the others also panicked. How could their leader say such things regardless of the situation?
“Anderson, step back. Let me handle this!” A cold voice came from the female mage, causing Anderson, who had already stepped forward to attack, to stop instantly.
Then, the female mage stepped back, brought her hands together, formed a magic sigil, and recited, “Form water into shape, create illusions. Great Element Goddess, grant me supreme power to bind these enemies before me—Water Binding Spell!”

Under that action, as the spell was recited, everyone could feel the water elements between heaven and earth rapidly gathering around the female mage. The humidity in the air increased significantly. At that moment, the female mage kept her eyes tightly closed, standing there proudly, her aura instantly rising and undergoing a dramatic transformation.

The entire sky seemed to blur as the water elements quickly condensed, gradually forming droplets that then rapidly solidified, creating a water curtain the instant the spell was cast!

“Bad! Get out of here!” Hearing the mage’s spell, Jim’s expression changed drastically as he shouted loudly at Rod.

Although Rod had already realized something was wrong, it was too late. Just as he tried to retreat, the female mage opened her eyes, let out a loud shout, and said, “Water Binding Spell! Go!”

With a cold cry, the water curtain transformed into a vast net that descended upon Rod. Before he could dodge, he was surrounded by a barrier of water.

His expression changed as he swung his fist in attack. Just as Rod’s fist struck the water barrier, it vanished suddenly, replaced by a barrage of water arrows aimed at him. Without time to react, he was struck head-on. The water arrows left wounds everywhere, and blood gushed out instantly.

“Advanced magic!” Jim exclaimed in shock.

“Don’t attack! This spell attacks automatically—any contact triggers a counterattack!” Then, Jim shouted loudly at Rod. At least he knew a little about magic, and after seeing the power of this spell, he cried out in alarm.

“Damn it! I’ll go all in!” In pain and driven by desperation, Rod roared, gritted his teeth, and launched another fierce punch, this time even more powerful, straight at the center—giving the female mage no chance!

Boom… A loud noise echoed as the water curtain was pierced by Rod’s strike, creating a huge hole!

He didn’t stop! Rod transformed his fist into claws, pulled back his hands, and tore the water barrier apart like ripping through cloth.

In an instant, the water barrier turned into a waterfall of water that poured down and spread across the ground.

Hmph… A muffled grunt escaped her as her magic was destroyed. The female mage stumbled back several steps before managing to steady herself. If anyone could see her, they would notice her face had turned pale.
The strongest defensive magic she had just learned—Water Barrier—had cost her a great deal of energy. Yet, despite her full effort to maintain it, it was torn apart by that mediocre intermediate warrior!
With her magic destroyed and her mental energy severely depleted, using this spell became extremely difficult. Gasping for breath, her mental strength had taken a heavy hit.
“Are you okay?” Kiro asked anxiously as he stepped beside the female mage.
“I’m fine!” Taking a deep breath and suppressing the discomfort, the female mage glared fiercely at Rod.
Following her gaze, Kiro also looked at Rod, his expression complex. Knight Rod? It seemed this man always managed to evoke different feelings in him.
“Boss…” Seeing Rod break free from the encirclement, Cambi and the others quickly stepped forward to support him. Seeing him covered in blood, they cried out in worry.
“It seems… it still doesn’t work!” Rod muttered with a bitter smile. His energy was completely exhausted, his fighting spirit drained. With excessive blood loss and numerous wounds, he gradually lost consciousness as they held him.
“Water Ball!” At that moment, none of them noticed that the female mage had somehow conjured another spell and fired it at Rod. A water ball struck him squarely in the abdomen!
Pfft… Already weak, Rod was attacked again. Without the ability to resist or dodge, he couldn’t help but spit out more blood.
“Boss…”
Vaguely, he heard Sambik’s furious shouts and the others’ worried cries.
“Damn it, mage! I’m not done with you!”
His eyes closed completely, and darkness enveloped him. In his mind, Rod thought defiantly.
Boom… Boom… Boom… He seemed to hear dull footsteps and a middle-aged man’s furious shouts. But it all didn’t matter anymore. Rod had no energy to pay attention to such things. His weakened state caused him to fall into a deep coma.
