Chapter 26: Revenge

“How about it, Jerome? These terms should be pretty good, right? You’d better think it through—there’s only one chance! People’s patience is limited, so you’d better be sensible!” In the hall, Robby crossed his legs, sipping tea with a cold smirk as he spoke softly to the gloomy-faced Jerome, his voice carrying a sinister tone that made one want to beat him up.

“There’s no need to consider it. We won’t agree to your demands, Roger. I guess you just want an easy way out, huh?” Just then, a voice suddenly came from outside the hall. Rod and his blond companion slowly entered, their faces stern as they firmly rejected Roger’s requests.

Along the way, Rod had already learned most of what had happened. After understanding the situation, he inwardly sighed—it seemed that what was inevitable would eventually happen; the things he feared were about to take place so soon.

Roger came this time in the name of the city lord, aiming to recruit their group and bring all of Fire City’s underground forces under his family’s control. Put bluntly, he wanted to take away the foundation that Rod and the others had worked hard to build! That was one thing, but worse still, Roger was extremely arrogant—he even demanded a change in leadership, wanting to appoint someone to take charge while pushing Rod to the background, essentially trying to render them all useless.

“Knight Rod! It’s an honor for our Porter family to take a fancy to you! Do you know what the consequences of refusal are?” Roger sneered disdainfully, his expression instantly darkening.

Narrowing his eyes, Rod observed Roger carefully. His long, fiery red hair hung loosely over his shoulders, his fiery red eyes exuding a heroic aura, and his face was quite handsome. He wore elegant silk clothes that hung neatly, with a sword adorned with gold trim hanging at his waist, as if to flaunt his status.

If someone met this guy for the first time, they’d surely be dazzled by his appearance! After observing him, Rod concluded in his mind: a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

“Well, I must thank your Porter family for considering me, but sadly, I, Knight Rod, am nothing but a worthless scoundrel! Not worth your attention!” With another cold smirk, he replied without hesitation.

“Go for it, don’t hold back—hit him hard!” Then, out of nowhere, Rod’s expression darkened as he shouted loudly. Roger had gone too far. Rod wasn’t someone to be trifled with either; he would rather die than submit. When pushed to the limit, anyone could do anything.
“Roger, I’m going to kill you!” Rod himself charged at Roger.
“Die!” He gathered all his combat energy in his hands and attacked the guy standing in front of him.
“Crack…” A sharp sound was heard! The warrior was covered in blood, instantly flung backward and lying motionless on the ground. His eyes were wide open, his mouth agape as he gasped for air, blood continuously flowing from his mouth. He still couldn’t understand why the little thug he had previously tormented at will could punch him like this.
At that moment, there was already a hole the size of a fist in his chest—his sternum was broken. His eyes started rolling back, he was breathing in more air than he was exhaling, and it seemed he wouldn’t survive much longer.
The entire arena fell silent after Rod’s punch. Everyone stared in disbelief at Rod and the warrior on the ground. The power of that punch left everyone in awe. Just one move—only one move—and he had taken down one of Roger’s guards. They knew that guy well; he was one of Roger’s best fighters, an intermediate warrior!
Even Rod himself could hardly believe what he had just done. All his months of training had finally paid off—great results. It felt amazing.
He slowly walked toward Roger, step by step. His steps were slow, but each one carried immense weight, as if stepping on everyone’s hearts, creating a sense of oppressive silence.
A moment later, cheers erupted. The battle intensified, and Roger’s side’s morale took a severe hit. Under Rod and the others’ relentless attacks, they were on the verge of collapse.
After knocking another guy back, Knight Rod appeared in front of Roger.

“Rod… Knightrod, what… what do you want? Let me tell you, I’m the young lord of this city and a member of the Potter family. If you dare to hurt me even a little, our Potter family won’t spare you—then you won’t have a place to stand in the empire!” Of the five people he brought with him, one was killed, one was injured, and the other three were surrounded. Looking at Rod before him, Roger realized for the first time just how cowardly he was, how scared he really was. Facing a life-or-death moment for the first time, his legs turned weak, and he was at a loss. His legs gave way, and he collapsed to the ground, watching Rod approach ever closer. Roger’s face turned pale.

“Roger Potter? Hmph! Even you have moments of fear! Weren’t you so arrogant? Now why are you collapsed on the ground? Do you know what fear is? Think about all the bad things you’ve done over the years, how many people you’ve harmed. How many people once knelt before you, begging for mercy innocently—what did you do? And now you’re afraid?

The Potter family? Indeed powerful, I admit. Your family’s castle is also impressive. But today! You, Roger Potter, are finished!” Seeing Roger’s state, Rod felt an overwhelming rage surge within him. The scene from months ago when Knightrod was bullied by Roger played over and over in his mind like slides—each image made his anger grow, his eyes redder with every repetition.

“You… Knightrod, even if you kill me, you’ll die too. How about this? I won’t hold grudges about today if you submit to our Potter family. I promise you endless wealth and glory for the rest of your life. What do you say?” As Rod’s face drew closer, feeling his icy presence, Roger’s voice took on a hint of crying.

“There’s no chance!” With a cold, lifeless expression, like an angel of death, Rod said coldly. His mind was filled with rage—nothing but hatred and anger could fit in. How could he still think so much under such circumstances? Obviously not possible.

“Die!”

Rod’s cold laugh echoed as he exerted force, swinging a punch swiftly.

Roger collapsed on the ground, his eyes filled with panic, his expression dazed. The howling sound of the punch even caused a dull pain in his scalp. A foul smell quickly filled the entire hall as Roger, in such a situation, lost control of his bowels and bladder.

“Kid, don’t be insolent!”
It was at that moment that a loud roar came from outside the house. In the next instant, a voice could be seen rushing toward them! It grew louder gradually and soon reached the hall.
Bang… A crisp sound was heard. Rod felt his whole body shake and stepped back several steps. Not only was his punch blocked by this suddenly appearing person, but he also suffered slight injuries.
“Damn you, bastard!” Rod cursed angrily as he stared at the old man who had appeared in front of him and protected Roger tightly behind him. He was indeed unwilling to see his attack blocked like this.
“Young master, are you alright?” The middle-aged man who had blocked Rod’s attack didn’t look at Rod anymore. Instead, he turned to Roger, who was pale and somewhat dazed behind him, and asked worriedly.
“Bastards, why did you come so late?” It took some time for Roger to recover. After recognizing the person in front of him, he cursed loudly. Isn’t this the guard by his father’s side? Although he didn’t know why this person appeared, his mind was filled with resentment and anger.
“Kill him! Tear him to pieces! Hurry up, kill him! Otherwise, you’ll die too!” Seeing this person appear, Roger’s complexion improved slightly, and he became more confident as he shouted loudly, his expression somewhat insane.
“Since you’re here, let’s die together!” With a roar, he pushed off the ground and rushed at the old man like an arrow leaving the bow. Channeling all his internal energy into his right hand, he clenched his fist tightly, his face turning red, as he threw a punch at the middle-aged man.
“Overestimating yourself!” The middle-aged man looked at Rod disdainfully and said indifferently. Then, he casually stretched out his left hand and blocked it in front of him. Just an intermediate warrior—after all, he was a high-level warrior. Facing such an opponent was a piece of cake. He held Rod in contempt. An intermediate warrior’s attack could be blocked with just one hand. After all, although there’s only one level difference between intermediate and high-level warriors, there’s a huge gap in strength.
“Crack…” A crisp sound was heard. The middle-aged man’s expression changed instantly, filled with surprise and agony!

The interior of Rod’s place was incredibly quiet. Rod’s single strike sent the middle-aged man stumbling back several steps. At the same time, that sharp sound came from the man himself—his arm had been broken by Rod’s blow. In that instant, Rod felt a surge of intense resentment and unwillingness fill his heart. Unbounded hatred surged through his veins, driving him to want to kill.

“Ahh…” A heart-wrenching scream echoed. The middle-aged man’s face turned pale instantly, with cold sweat pouring down his forehead. Without giving him a chance to catch his breath, before he could recover, Rod rushed forward again, using the same technique against him. Now, he was full of confidence in this move.

Boom… A flash of white light followed by a dull sound. There was no scream as expected. The injured middle-aged man and Rod stood there in confusion, unharmed. Instead, Rod was sent flying like a kite with its string cut.

Thud… A loud impact sound came as Rod crashed to the ground, toppling several tables and chairs before he could barely stabilize himself.

Pfft… A bitter taste filled his throat as he couldn’t help but spit out blood!

“Boss…” Everyone was stunned by what had happened and shouted loudly.

Rod lay on the ground, gasping for breath, with blood continuously flowing from the corners of his mouth.

“Kiro, what happened?” Moments later, another figure rushed into the room and asked the person who had arrived first.

“Hmph, just an intermediate warrior!” With a cold snort, discarding his earlier thoughts, the man replied indifferently.

Spitting out more blood, Rod stared at the person who had appeared out of nowhere and knocked him away. His eyes widened.

“You… cough cough… are you guys?” Pushing away Jerome and the others who were holding him, Rod asked in a deep voice.

Weren’t these the same man and two women he had met at the restaurant that day? Wasn’t he the warrior in the white armor?

Why had he saved Rod? Why was he here? Rod’s mind was filled with confusion. But perhaps it was more of a sense of unwillingness—unwillingness to see his nearly successful attack blocked by him, unwillingness to accept that the situation had turned around like this.

There was another kind of shock—shock at this person’s formidable strength. A faint white light surrounded him, clearly a sign of a Silver Warrior. With the appearance of this Bronze Warrior, Anderson, Rod’s heart instantly turned cold. At this moment, his senses returned to normal; the resentment and anger from before vanished, replaced by a deep sense of exhaustion. Coupled with his injuries, he felt utterly weak. Using those tactics so many times had drained him of a great deal of combat energy!
“It’s you?” It seemed the Silver Warrior also recognized Rod and was quite surprised. He never expected that the one who needed to be dealt with today would be the guy they met at the restaurant back then.
“Is it done?” At the same time, the female mage they had seen before also entered the hall. After taking in the situation and smelling the foul odor emanating from Rod, she frowned and covered her nose.
