Chapter 010: Siege of Bear City

When the army reached a distance of about twenty meters from the walls of Bear City, a fierce shout suddenly came from the Northern Legion. Right in the center ahead of them, the shields were suddenly raised, and Allen, holding a gleaming long spear, leaped forward and plunged straight toward the top of Bear City’s walls!
His body was covered in a star-like glow unique to Star Combat Energy, so dazzling even in daylight! It was as if a series of stars had suddenly descended upon Bear City’s walls! That gleaming long spear resembled a blazing flame, on the verge of crashing into the city walls!
The Frozen Alliance was rich in hard stones—these stones served as the primary material for constructing the walls of important cities like the royal capital. The royal capitals of the Frozen Kingdom were mostly built using such stones. Moreover, due to their abundance, the stones used for the city walls were piled tightly together, each weighing hundreds of pounds.
These walls were then coated with a glue made from a gelatinous fish found in the deep seas, allowing them to bond naturally. Thanks to this process, the defensive capabilities of the royal city walls of the Northern Eighteen Kingdoms Alliance reached an extreme level—not only were they hard, but they were also extremely slippery!
One reason why the three divisions attacking in turn failed to take Bear City was the sheer strength of its walls, which made climbing them nearly impossible.
Seeing Allen’s astonishing momentum, there was no doubt that once his spear struck the walls, it would surely create a gap! If a crack appeared in Bear City’s walls, given the strength of the Northern Legion of the Gavin Empire, that gap would quickly become an entrance for their soldiers. With just a few hundred soldiers inside, Bear City’s sturdy walls would lose much of their effectiveness.
Just as Allen’s spear was about to hit the walls, a fierce shout came from Bear City’s direction. A tall figure rushed forward, shouting wildly, and confronted Allen’s spear!
Everyone who could see the clash realized that the man in black was using just one fist to hold back Allen’s spear! A yellow glow faintly appeared on his fist—clearly, there was something strange about that yellow light.

“Who are you? How could you block my shot with your bare hands!” Seeing that the man was extremely skilled, Allen shouted loudly.
“The Northern Legion of the Gavin Empire! Why do you attack our Bear Kingdom?” the tall man suddenly asked.
“Hmph, if anyone’s to blame, it’s you. Your actions have displeased Princess Fischer. This time, it was Princess Fischer’s order—she said your Icebound Alliance hides in the corners of our empire, constantly causing trouble and stealing our property. Such behavior has greatly angered her. Since she’s upset, she ordered us to attack you.” Allen stared at the tall man, speaking half truth and half lie.
“Is your emperor that stingy? We only went to your empire to find food when we ran out of provisions during winter and spring, on the verge of starving. Is that why your emperor declared war on us? How petty!” The tall man stood across from Allen and began arguing with him.
“Our emperor also said that your Icebound Alliance has mixed with the remnants of the Purple Blossom Clan, which is absolutely unacceptable. That’s why our emperor is determined to eliminate you along with those remnants,” Du Fan said seriously.
“What do you mean we’ve mixed with the remnants of the Purple Blossom Clan?” Hearing this, the tall man asked angrily.
“Hmph. Don’t pretend to be stupid,” Allen said with a scornful smile.
“You!” The tall man shouted in anger at Allen’s words.
“Kid, I can see you use Star Combat Qi. Who are you from the Green family?” The tall man changed the subject, stopping further arguments with Allen.
“I’m the second son of Duke Green. What’s the problem?” Allen asked in surprise at the question.
“Good, very good. I’ve heard that the Green family excels in Star Combat Qi. It’s a privilege to meet the second son of the Green family today. I, Xiong Shili, must truly experience it!” The tall man laughed heartily.
“Xiong Shili! Are you Xiong Shili, the king of the Bear Kingdom?” Allen asked in surprise.
“I didn’t expect you to know my name. Yes, I am the king of the Bear Kingdom, Xiong Shili!” Seeing Allen’s surprise, Xiong Shili smiled slightly.
“Fine, since you want to see the Star Combat Qi of our Green family, I’ll fulfill your wish!” Allen said fiercely.

As soon as he finished speaking, Allen picked up his long spear and charged at Xiong Shili with a thrust! With another fierce roar, yellow light emanated from Xiong Shili’s body. Amidst the bursts of yellow light, he swung his fist and punched at the spear Allen was holding! A powerful aura spread out, making the two opponents seem evenly matched once again! The more Allen fought against Xiong Shili, the more anxious he became! Originally, according to Allen’s plan, he would rely on his own Saint-level cultivation to break through the walls of Xiong City, allowing large numbers of soldiers from the Northern Legion to flood into the city. As long as Xiong City remained intact, it would be impossible for the invaders from the Gavin Empire to occupy the land of the Xiong Kingdom. As the two continued to fight, the soldiers of the Northern Legion began to attack the city walls with all their might. Watching those soldiers below, George felt deeply moved. As they attacked using ladders, massive boulders and wooden beams kept rolling down from the city walls. With these defensive tools, the casualties among the Northern Legion soldiers kept rising! Objects weighing hundreds or even thousands of pounds rolling down from walls over ten meters high would either kill or injure the soldiers of the Northern Legion! Moreover, Allen’s plan to force his way through solely with his own strength was now unfeasible. Xiong Shili opposite him clearly also possessed cultivation beyond the Saint level. Seeing his soldiers suffering continuous losses, Allen’s anger grew ever stronger! Suddenly, his attacks became more fierce. Under the relentless and powerful strikes of his Star Combat Qi, Xiong Shili began to retreat step by step! At that moment, Allen continued to use his spear to knock the soldiers of the Xiong Kingdom off the walls! As the number of defenders on the walls decreased, more and more soldiers from the Northern Legion managed to climb up! Once soldiers reached the walls, more and more from the Northern Legion would follow. Seeing this situation, Xiong Shili let out a loud roar! With that roar, a black bear over two meters tall suddenly appeared beside him! Although the bear was black, it emitted bursts of yellow light.

Watching this black bear, Allen’s heart tightened—this bear was clearly a Earth Bear! Adult Earth Bears all reached the Saintly realm in terms of cultivation. Seeing this clearly adult Earth Bear, Allen gritted his teeth fiercely and charged forward with his long spear toward the Earth Bear and Xiong Shuli.

Unbeknownst to him, after appearing, the Earth Bear ignored Allen completely. With a powerful leap, it jumped behind Allen and swung its massive paws at the northern soldiers who had already reached the city walls!

Watching his soldiers die one after another at the hands of the Earth Bear, Allen let out a mournful roar, filled with a deep sense of powerlessness. He tried to intervene but was blocked by Xiong Shuli. With bloodshot eyes, Allen forced Xiong Shuli to retreat step by step, but from their current positions, despite continuously repelling the enemy, he could no longer harm a single person.

At that moment, after finishing off the northern army soldiers in sight, the Earth Bear rushed toward Allen. Seeing the Earth Bear speeding toward him, Allen tightened his grip and stabbed repeatedly at Xiong Shuli with his spear.

Suddenly, the Earth Bear roared as well and quickly turned into a swirl of black smoke, enveloping Xiong Shuli!

“No good—fusion technique!”

Seeing the human and beast merge together, Allen cried out in alarm.

Indeed, as the two merged, Xiong Shuli let out a loud scream and transformed into a monstrous being over two and a half meters tall. His eyes glowed ferociously, and his fur grew thick enough to cover his face entirely.

After fusing, Xiong Shuli let out a fierce roar toward the sky and charged at Allen with his massive paws. Seeing Xiong Shuli coming for him, Allen shouted loudly and channeled all his Star Combat Qi into his spear, thrusting it straight at Xiong Shuli’s head.

Facing the spear aimed at his head, Xiong Shuli quickly raised a fist upward, colliding with Allen’s spear once more. This fused fist carried a strength many times greater than before!

With just one punch, it sent Allen flying off the city wall!

Watching Allen plummet, the soldiers of the northern army were terrified.

Fortunately, after falling to the ground, Allen quickly turned over and stood up again!

He slammed his long spear hard into the ground, wiped the blood flowing from his mouth with his right hand, and a wolf-like expression appeared on Allen’s face! Staring intently at Xiong Shili on top of the city wall, Allen suddenly unleashed an endless fighting spirit! Seeing Allen’s sudden surge of fighting spirit after being injured, Xiong Shili, still on the city wall, was stunned! Letting out a beast-like roar, Xiong Shili transformed and rushed downward at Allen. The soldiers along the way, seeing Xiong Shili charging at Allen, took up their weapons to fight him. But Xiong Shili, who had surpassed the Saint rank after merging, paid no attention to these mere soldiers’ attacks. He simply waved his massive palm, flinging away one soldier after another who stood in his way! Just as Xiong Shili was about to strike Allen with his palm, a voice suddenly came from the sky, “Who dares to touch my second brother?” A cyan, almost illusory shadow flashed by, and Xiong Shili felt a blur before seeing a man with a slight smile standing in front of him. This man, with his ever-smiling expression, exuded an aura typical of a Saint rank, which made Xiong Shili hesitate to strike. Though he thought this in his heart, the fist he had already thrown could not be withdrawn—it flew straight at the man’s smiling face! With a slight sigh, Xiong Shili thought, What a fine young man—under my punch, his head will probably explode! Closing his eyes slightly, unable to bear to witness this scene, Xiong Shili suddenly realized that his fist was still suspended in midair, unable to be pulled back!
